Richard S. "Dick" Davis, 63, of Rutland, died Monday, June 11, 2001, in Pennsylvania.
He was husband of Marjorie (Brathovde) Davis.
Funeral arrangements are pending with Tossing Funeral Home.
Sister Mary Catherine McKay-Levins
A memorial Mass for Sister Mary Catherine McKay-Levins will be offered on Saturday, June 16, at 10 a.m. at St. Peter Church.
Alexander Magocsi Jr.
FORT LEE, N.J. - Alexander Magocsi Jr., 63, died Oct. 21, 2000, at New York Presbyterian Hospital.
He was born in New Jersey on March 11, 1937, son of Alexander and Anne (Langyel) Magocsi Sr., and received his education in Fairview schools.
Mr. Magocsi began work at an early age in electronics. He worked for many years as the director of telecommunications for Columbia Presbyterian Hospital and retired from Fox Television in 2000 following 14 years of service.
He was a past president of Metroplex Amateur Radio Club in New York City.
Survivors include a daughter, Deborah Magocsi of Brooklyn, N.Y., and a son, Ron Magocsi of New York, N.Y., a brother, Paul Magocsi of Toronto, Canada; and two grandchildren.
Family and friends will gather on Saturday, June 16, 2001, at 1 p.m. at Miller and Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon for a celebration of his life.
Following a private burial in Sudbury the family will receive friends at The Lilac Inn for a time of fellowship and reflection.
Ruth E. Janson
PITTSFORD - Ruth E. Janson, 87, died Sunday, June 10, 2001 at Eden Park Nursing Home in Rutland.
Mrs. Janson was born on February 8, 1914 in Philadelphia, Pa., the daughter of George and Sarah (Warren) Daubert.
She was formerly employed as one of the 1st computer programmers by 1st Pennsylvania Bank of Philadelphia for many years.
She retired to Pittsford, Vt., with her husband William Peterson in 1966 who predeceased her in 1973. She later married Charles Janson who predeceased her in 1998.
Ruth was well known to her family, friends and neighbors for her abilities as a seamstress, knitting, crocheting and willingness to help with these abilities.
She volunteered as an aide at Lothrop Elementary School and attended the Pittsford Congregational Church.
She is survived by a daughter, Marcia Bishop of Warren, N.J.; a brother, Charles Daubert of Belmont, Calif.; a sister, Mabel Worth of Sun City, Ariz.; and two grandsons, Scott and Keith Bishop of Warren, N.J.
She was predeceased by a brother.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 14, 2001 at 1 p.m. at the Pittsford Congregational Church. Committal services will follow in Evergreen Cemetery in Pittsford. A reception will follow the committal service at the Congregational Church Hall.
Friends may call at the Barnard Funeral Home on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

FAIR HAVEN - June Nancy Elias, 72, died Sunday, June 10, 2001, at the Sager Nursing Home.
A funeral will be celebrated on Friday, June 15, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Seven Dolors Church. The Rev. Richard Tinney, pastor, will be the celebrant.
Friends may call at the Mallory Funeral Home on Thursday, June 14, from 7 to 9 p.m. where Rev. Tinney will conduct a vigil service at 8:30 p.m.
Hilda E. Powers Rites
BRANDON - A private graveside service for Hilda E. Powers, 91, who died June 2, 2001, at Scotia, N.Y., was held Monday, June 11, at Evergreen Cemetery in Pittsford.
The Rev. Richard White, pastor of the Brandon Congregational Church officiated.
Arrangements were under the direction of Miller and Ketcham Funeral Home.
Ralph Snow
WARDSBORO - Ralph Snow, 74, died Sunday, June 10, 2001, at his home.
He was born Feb. 7, 1927, in Dover, son of Weston and Blanche (Holland) Snow.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
Mr. Snow was one of the first men hired to cut the first ski slopes at Mount Snow and later worked at Bromley and Stratton mountains as a welder.
In 1996 he retired from the Army Corps of Engineers at Ball Mountain Dam after working there for 26 years.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Eleanor Snow; four sons, Edward Snow of Mount Airy, Md., Thomas Snow of Springfield, Jeffrey Snow of Enfield, N.H., and Ricky Snow of Townshend; a sister, Louise Mitchell of Shelburne Falls, Mass.; nine grandchildren; a great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.
The family will have a private memorial service. His ashes will be spread over his favorite hunting area at a later date.
Memorial donations may be made to Grace Cottage Hospital in care of Dr. Robert Backus.
Duane C. Hutchinson
BRAINTREE - Duane C. Hutchinson, 79, died Saturday, June 9, 2001, at his home on Braintree Hill.
He was born July 3, 1921 in Brookfield, son of Lucian and Ruth (Allen) Hutchinson.
He attended Brookfield schools and Vermont Agricultural School in Randolph. Following his education he had a milk route in Brookfield.
Mr. Hutchinson married Ola Wright, Sept. 5, 1942 in Bethel. She died in 1993.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was stationed in England and Germany with the Engineering Corps. After the war he returned home and worked with Don Rogers logging. He worked as a carpenter for Larry Brigham and later did carpentry on his own.
The Hutchinsons moved to Braintree Hill into the home he built in 1968.
He was a member of the Randolph VFW and a former member of the Randolph Fish and Game Club.
Mr. Hutchinson was an avid hunter and he also enjoyed trapping and woodworking.
Survivors include two sons, Gordon Hutchinson of Willis, Va., and David Hutchinson of Randolph; two daughters, Jeanne Sargent of Randolph and Ruth Tucker of Randolph Center; a brother, Lucian Hutchinson of Speculator, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, June 14, at 1:30 p.m. at the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Randolph Center with Chuck Anthony officiating.
There are no calling hours.
Memorial contributions may be made to either the American Heart Association, Vermont Affiliate, P.O. Box 485, Williston, 05493, or to the American Cancer Society, Vermont Division, 13 Loomis St., Montpelier, 05602.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Day Funeral Home in Randolph.
Edith W. Cluff Rites
SPRINGFIELD - The funeral service for Edith W. Cluff, 87, who died June 6, 2001, was held Monday in Davis Memorial Chapel. The Rev. William Scherwerts, pastor of the United Methodist Church, officiated.
Burial followed in Oakland Cemetery.
Bearers were Gary Cluff of Reston, Va., Lee Kendall of Rindge, N.H., Dale Kendall of Chester and Dana Kendall of Andover.
George D. Gagne
WINDSOR - George D. Gagne, 75, died Sunday, June 10, 2001, at Mt. Ascutney Hospital and Health Center.
He was born April 19, 1926, in Conway, N.H., son of Frank and Somah (Osgood) Gagne, and attended school in Conway.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and the Korean War.
Mr. Gagne worked at the Sugarbush Ski Resort in Waitsfield for many years.
He married Hazel Hastings in Windsor on Aug. 8, 1974. They lived in Worcester for 19 years before moving to Windsor in 1995.
He was a life member of VFW Post 792 in Montpelier.
Survivors include his wife of Windsor; a son, Robin Gagne of Waitsfield; a stepson, William Strew of West Hartford; two stepdaughters, Gloria Furman and Judith Buckman, both of Windsor; five sisters; five brothers; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Saturday, June 16, 2001, at 1 p.m. at the Boltonville Cemetery in Newbury with the Rev. Gerald L. Stigall, pastor of Trinity Evangelical Free Church in Windsor, officiating.
The Knight Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
James M. Gallagher
NORTH WALPOLE, N.H. - James M. Gallagher, 77, of Danvers, Mass., died Sunday, June 10, 2001, at the Lahey Clinic in Burlington, Mass.
He was born Jan. 14, 1924 in North Walpole, son of John J. and Mary (Healy) Gallagher. He attended schools in North Walpole and Bellows Falls, Vt.
Mr. Gallagher worked for many years for Warner Brother Records. Following retirement he worked for the Cambridge Prepress and also in accounting in the Boston area.
He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He married Margaret (Torrey) Gallagher on Aug. 23, 1963, in St. Peter's Church in North Walpole. She died in 1978.
Survivors include a daughter, Kathy Gallagher of Boxford, Mass., and a sister, Mary Long of Connecticut.
In addition to his wife, he was predeceased by a brother, John Gallagher.
The funeral will be celebrated by the Rev. Shawn Therrian at St. Peter's Church on Wednesday at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Peter's Cemetery in Drewsville.
There will be calling hours one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Fenton and Hennessey Funeral Home in Bellows Falls.
Adeline D. Maddaloni
ARLINGTON, Mass. - Adeline (DeSantis) Maddaloni of Arlington, Mass., formerly of East Longmeadow, died June 10, 2001.
Beloved mother of Michael P. of Waltham and Maria E. Maddaloni of Arlington. Loving sister of Mariano E. of Rochester, Vt.; Carmela A. of Ware, Dominic S. of Jamesville, N.Y., Ann C. of Arlington, and Pasquale "Pat" DeSantis of Rochester, Vt.; soon-to-be mother-in-law of Tracy J. Osero of Newton. Also survived by several nieces and nephews. Funeral Mass in St. Jerome's Church, 197 Lake St., Arlington, on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Relatives and friends invited. John J. Malley
BELLOWS FALLS - John J. Malley, 87, died Monday, June 11, 2001, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in White River Junction.
He was born Jan. 1, 1914, in Amesbury, Mass., son of John J. and Catherine (Murphy) Malley. He graduated from Amesbury High School in 1931.
Mr. Malley joined the Civilian Conservation Corp and was stationed in Westminster, Vt.
In 1940 he was inducted into the Army, serving as staff sergeant in the America Division in the South Pacific. He was wounded in battle and received the Purple Heart. He was also awarded the Good Conduct Medal, American Defense Service Medal, Asiatic Pacific Theater Campaign Ribbon, the Bronze Star and a Presidential Citation.
He married Mary C. Wolfe in St. Charles Church in Bellows Falls on June 30, 1946.
Upon his return to Bellows Falls, he worked for the American Express Co. In 1950 he and his brother-in-law, Edward Kane, opened Kane's Pharmacy on Rockingham Street, later moving to the space formerly occupied by Shaw's Pharmacy in the Hotel Windham building. They were in business together for 33 years, selling to Mel's Drug Co. in 1983.
Mr. Malley was a member of the American Legion and Knights of Columbus, receiving special recognition from St. Charles Council in 1988 at "John Malley Night."
Survivors include his wife of Bellows Falls; two sons, John Malley and James Malley, both of Bellows Falls; a daughter, Anne Marie Corrinet of Greenfield, Mass.; a brother, Thomas Malley of Uncasville, Conn., several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be celebrated by the Rev. Brian Mead at St. Charles Church on Friday, June 15, at 10 a.m.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Fenton and Hennessey Funeral Home. Burial will follow in St .Charles Cemetery in Westminster.
