Zita C. Fortier Rites

BENNINGTON - A funeral Mass for Zita C. Fortier, who died April 26, 2001, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, was held Monday at Sacred Heart St. Francis de Sales Church. The Rev. Laurence M. Olszewski officiated. Burial followed in Park Lawn Cemetery.

Organist was Donald McMahon and soloist was Monica Murray.

Scriptural readings were offered by Leonard Anzivino.

Bearers were Christopher Senecal, Earl Senecal, Roderick Gratton, Sam Levitte and Nicholas Casey. Honorary bearers from St. Anne's Society were Marie Ray, Doris Bourgeois, Annette Delude, Louria Tessier, Mary Brochu and Theresa Aglieri.

Members of the Sisters of St. Joseph and St. Anne's Society attended the calling hours; the St. Anne's Society led the rosary.

A prayer service was offered at the funeral home by Sister Bridget Maroney, SSJ, prior to the funeral Mass.

A remembrance gathering for friends and family was held at the parish center following the committal service.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home.

Norbert J. Marcoux Rites

BENNINGTON - The funeral service for Norbert "Mark" J. Marcoux, 57, who died April 25, 2001, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, was held Monday at Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home with the Rev. Michael Twardy, pastor of the Bible Baptist Church, officiating. Burial followed in Park Lawn Cemetery.

Music was provided by bagpiper Mark Austin.

Personal reflections and memories were shared by his children and grandchildren.

Bearers were Roger Mears Sr., Roger Mears Jr., Randy Sprague, Sam Levett, Robert Corriveau and Stephen Gardner.

American Legion Post 13 provided military honors. Ralph Brown presented the flag to Mr. Marcoux's son, Andrew. Taps were sounded by trumpeter Maurice Rancourt.

Memorial services were conducted Saturday by members of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 601 at the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Hanson-Walbridge Funeral Home in Bennington.

Eva L. Tessier Rites

SPRINGFIELD - The funeral Mass for Eva L. Tessier, 89, who died April 25, 2001, in Feeding Hills, Mass., was held Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Springfield, with the Rev. Douglas Hawkins, pastor, officiating. Burial followed in Holy Cross Cemetery in Randolph. Committal prayers were conducted by the Rev. John Milanese of Randolph.

Organist was Rafal Nowak, accompanied by Stanley Smith and the Rejoice Choir.

Reader was Mary Harriman. Personal remarks were given by Mrs. Tessier's great-granddaughter.

Bearers were David Tessier of New Canaan, Conn., Paul Tessier of Lynnfield, Mass., John Hall of Claremont, N.H., and John Mellen of Agawam, Mass.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.

Joseph A. Dellamano Rites

SPRINGFIELD - The memorial service for Joseph A. Dellamano, 88, formerly of Springfield, who died April 26, 2001, was held Monday at the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield with the Rev. Ron Saunders of White River Junction officiating. Burial followed in St. Mary's Cemetery in Springfield.

Personal remarks were given by several of the daughters and granddaughters.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.

Donald G. Fields Rites

WEYBRIDGE - The funeral Mass for Donald Gregory Fields, 75, who died April 25, 2001, was celebrated Saturday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Middlebury, with the Rev. Albert Baltz, pastor of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Brandon, officiating.

A graveside committal service with military honors was held later in St. Amadeus Cemetery in Alburg.

Organist was Donald Corbett.

The Knights of Columbus 4th Degree honor guard attended.

Pallbearers were Jim Fitzsimmons, Ryan Fitzsimmons, James Fitzsimmons, Sean McCarty, Gregory Fields and Jay Lally.

A reception was held in the church hall.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Sanderson Funeral Service of Middlebury.

Harry W. Phillips

MIDDLEBURY - Harry W. Phillips, 75, of Stoughton, Mass., and a former resident of Middlebury, died Feb. 26, 2001.

He was born Dec. 31, 1925, in Middlebury, the son of Harry L. and Lucille (Delphia) Phillips.

He graduated from Middlebury High School in 1944.

Mr. Phillips was employed in the Middlebury area and Springfield before moving to Massachusetts in the 1950s. He retired from APA Transport in Canton. He was a mechanic and a tool-and-die maker.

He was a member of the Army Air Corps.

He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Middlebury and the Mass Arms organization.

He enjoyed antique guns and recently co-published a gun book. He enjoyed reading and read encyclopedias from cover to cover.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn V. (Ericson) Phillips of Stoughton; two sons, Scott Phillips of Richmond, Va., and Neil Phillips of Quincy, Mass.; and three grandchildren.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Alma Quesnel of Vermont.

The funeral service was held in Stoughton. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Cornwall at a later date.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Jimmy Fund, 1308 Beacon St., Brookline, Mass., 02446.

Elizabeth E. Balch

GRANVILLE, N.Y. - Elizabeth E. Balch, 98, formerly of Granville, died April 29, 2001, at Pleasant Valley Infirmary in Argyle after a long illness.

She was born Jan. 10, 1903, in Granville, the daughter of Hugh and Margaret (Edwards) Evans.

She worked in area sewing shops for many years.

Survivors include two nieces, Lillian Steves and Ann Rodd, both of Whitehall.

She was predeceased by her husband, Orla E. Balch, in 1964.

A graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Mettowee Valley Cemetery in Granville, with the Rev. James Peterson officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert M. King Funeral Home, 23 Church St., Granville.

Helen Savage Bigelow

NEWPORT - Helen Savage Bigelow, 100, of Newport and Largo, Florida, died in Largo on Wednesday, May 2, 2001.

She was born in North Troy on February 7, 1901, the daughter of Ernest and Lucretia Savage. Helen graduated from Newport High School in 1919 and attended Burlington Business College. She was a member of the United Church of Newport and the Church of the Isles in Indian Rocks Beach, Florida.

Helen is survived by her son, Robert and his wife, Jeanne, of Newport and Englewood, Florida; her grandchildren, Barbara Bigelow Barrett and Nancy Bigelow Canfield and their families of Rutland, Patricia Bigelow Ritchey and her husband of Carbondale, Colorado, and King, Bonnie, Charles Jr., Robert, and Kelmie Jeanne and their families, all of Florida; twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was predeceased by her husband, Rudolf in 1988; her son, Charles and his wife, Kelmie; four brothers; and one sister.

A committal service will be held at the convenience of the family.

Local arrangements by Converse-Rushford Funeral Home.

Ronald D. Woods Jr.

Graveside services for Raymond D. Woods Jr., 73, of Rutland, who died April 18, 2001, will be held Thursday at 2:30 p.m. in Hillside Cemetery in Castleton with the Rev. J. Charles Durham, pastor of St. John's Church in Castleton, officiating.

The Castleton American Legion will provide military services.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.

Lillian Valente

The memorial service for Lillian (Solari) Valente of Rutland will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. in Calvary Cemetery in Rutland.

She was the daughter of Enrico and Benilde Solari and the wife of John R. Valente Sr.

She was a graduate of Mount St. Joseph Academy in Rutland.

Anthony J. Kantorski

The graveside service for Anthony J. Kantorski, 89, who died March 12, 2001, will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. in St. Stanislaus Cemetery in West Rutland.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Mullin-Clifford Funeral Home.

Walter Bishop

GRANVILLE, N.Y. - Graveside services for Walter Bishop, who died March 31, 2001, will be held Saturday at noon in North Hebron Cemetery with the Rev. Thomas Zelker officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert M. King Funeral Home in Granville.

Arlene Winchell

GRANVILLE, N.Y. - Graveside services for Arlene Winchell, who died April 13, 2001, will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in North Hebron Cemetery with Pastor Arthur Ritchie officiating.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Robert M. King Funeral Home in Granville.

Martha S. Poljacik Rites

PITTSFORD - The graveside committal service for Martha S. (Keith) Poljacik, 48, who died Jan. 2, 2001, was held Monday in Evergreen Cemetery in Pittsford with the Rev. Audrey Murdock, associate pastor of Trinity Episcopal Church in Rutland, officiating.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Barnard Funeral Home in Pittsford.

Lettie G. Ricketts Rites

DANBY - The graveside service for Lettie G. Ricketts, 84, who died Jan. 20, 2001, was held Thursday in Danby-Scottsville Cemetery with the Rev. Ralph Stone, pastor of the Mountain View Baptist Church, officiating.

Bearers were Paul Morris, Ken Ricketts, Joel Beckley, Craig Ricketts, Mark Ricketts and Clifford Ricketts, all grandsons.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lettie Ricketts Memorial Fund, in care of Sarah Ricketts, 2871 Old Otis Road, Danby, 05739.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Aldous Funeral Home.

Grace E. Coleman Rites

MOUNT TABOR - The funeral service for Grace E. Coleman, 85, who died May 2, 2001, was held Sunday at the Danby Congregational Church with the Rev. Larry Switzer officiating. Burial followed in Scottsville Cemetery.

Remembrances were offered by Carolyn Morris, a granddaughter.

Bearers were Elbert Crosby, William Kapusta, Harry Ralph Jr., Wayne King, Larry Morris and Morgan Colon.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Brewster Funeral Service in Manchester.

Elizabeth Zezza

CHESTER - Elizabeth "Betty" (Leonard) Zezza, 87, died May 6, 2001, at her home.

She was born in Pelham Manor, N.Y., where she lived before coming to Vermont.

She helped to introduce the Hungarian Viszla pointer to the United States, and her dogs won numerous field trial and show championships.

Mrs. Zezza was an active parishioner at St. Luke's Church in Chester. She participated in the Bible study group and sang in the choir.

She enjoyed tennis, sailboat racing, horseback riding, gardening and birdwatching, and was the official plant waterer at the Baba-A-Louis bakery in Chester, which is owned by her daughter.

Survivors include three children, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

She was predeceased by her husband, Carlo Zezza.

The memorial service will be held today at 3 p.m. at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Chester.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Luke's Church, P.O. Box 8, Chester, 05143.
