Allen W. Hilton rites
BRANDON — The funeral service for Allen William Hilton, 95, who died April 30, 2001, was held Wednesday at the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon with the Rev. Richard White, pastor of the Brandon Congregational Church, officiating. The graveside committal service and burial followed in Pine Hill Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Terry Kline, Robert Kilpeck, Bob Gearwar and Gary Stanley, all of Brandon.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
Ruby E. Quinn rites
FOREST DALE — A private graveside service and burial for Ruby Emma Quinn, 84, who died Feb. 16, 2001, was held Wednesday in Forest Dale Cemetery with Bertram Coolidge of Forest Dale officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Miller & Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon.
Carol A. Whitman
NORTH BENNINGTON — Carol Anne Whitman, 52, died May 2, 2001, at Southwestern Vermont Medical Center after a brief illness.
She was born Aug. 16, 1948, in Bennington, the daughter of Mary (Coyne) and Stanton A. Livingston Sr.
She received her education in Bennington.
Mrs. Whitman had been employed as a waitress in local restaurants.
She enjoyed crafts.
Survivors include her companion, Jose Sanchez of Bennington; two daughters, Jessica Ketcham and Daniell Whitman, both of Bennington; two sons, Patrick Whitman Sr. of Bennington and Douglas Whitman Jr. of North Bennington; her mother of Bennington; a sister, Patti Jean Dickie of Bennington; two brothers, Stan Livingston and Michael J. Livingston, both of Bennington; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Burial will be held in White Chapel Cemetery.
Memorial contributions may be made to Boston Children’s Hospital or the Vermont Chapter of the American Cancer Society, through the office of the Mahar & Son Funeral Home, 628 Main St., Bennington, 05201.

Charles D. Tuttle
INVERNESS, Fla. — Charles D. Tuttle, 80, of Inverness and Plymouth, Vt., died April 27, 2001, in Inverness.
He was born in Waterbury, Conn., the son of Donald Seymour and Rachel Dinsmore Tuttle.
He graduated from Westminster School in Simsbury, Conn., and the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va.
Mr. Tuttle was owner and operator of Clapp & Tuttle Bookstore and Framing Shop in Woodbury, Conn.
He served in the 9th Air Force, European Theater during World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Katherine R. Tuttle of Inverness; six daughters, Robin Tuttle-MaGuire of Oxnard, Calif., Victoria Tuttle of Boulder, Colo., Dinsmore Tuttle and Bettina Tuttle, both of Fort Collins, Colo., Annie Laurie Tuttle of Baltimore, Md., and Amelia Tuttle of LaPorte, Colo.; a brother, Donald Tuttle of Middlebury, Conn.; a sister, Mary Ann Carley of Woodbury, Conn., and 11 grandchildren.
He was predeceased by a daughter, Sarah Tuttle, in 1967.

BELLOWS FALLS — Graveside committal services for Phebe Kimball, who died March 20, 2001, will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in Oak Hill Cemetery.

CHARLESTOWN, N.H. — Graveside committal services for Katheryn E. Knowles, who died Jan. 14, 2001, will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. in St. Peter’s Cemetery in Drewsville.

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. — A funeral Mass for Blanche Cancellieri of St. Augustine, Fla., and formerly of Bellows Falls, Vt., who died Jan. 27, 2001, will be celebrated at Sacred Heart Church in Bellows Falls, with the Rev. Felix Reczek officiating. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Westminster, Vt.
Calling hours will be held one hour prior to the service at Fenton & Hennessey Funeral Home in Bellows Falls.
Alice B. Foster
HARTLAND — The funeral service for Alice B. Foster, 97, who died April 20, 2001, will be held Monday, May 7, at 1 p.m. at First Congregational Church in Hartland with the Rev. W.W. Moyer officiating. Burial will follow in Hartland Village Cemetery.

SPRINGFIELD — The graveside committal service for Myron J. Hobbs, 89, who died March 2, 2001, was held Wednesday in Oakland Cemetery in Springfield with the Rev. Thomas Hitlsley, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church, officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel.

SPRINGFIELD — The graveside funeral service for Donald “Charlie” Fullam, 78, who died April 29, 2001, was held Wednesday in St. Mary’s Cemetery in Springfield with the Rev. Douglas Hawkins, pastor of St. Mary’s Church, officiating.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Davis Memorial Chapel.
Phyllis D. Wall rites
WEST CHESTERFIELD, N.H. — A graveside service for Phyllis D. Gibbs Wall, who died April 25, 2001, was held Monday in Friedsam Cemetery, with the Rev. Dr. Dennis Roth officiating.
A personal remembrance was given by Betty Wall, a daughter-in-law, of Springfield, Vt.
Pallbearers were William Wall and Kenneth Wall, both of Shelburne Falls, Mass., and Roone Gibbs and Ronny Gibbs of Grafton, Vt., nephews.
A reception for family and friends was held at Mrs. Wall’s daughter’s home in West Chesterfield.
Mrs. Wall is also survived by a sister, Iva Fisher of Grafton. She was predeceased by a brother, Samuel Gibbs.
Arrangements were under the direction of the Ker-Westerlund and Fleming Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
Frank P. Salgado
VERGENNES — Frank P. Salgado, 74, died May 1, 2001, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.
He was born June 20, 1926, in Mexia, Texas, the son of Marcial and Josefa (Perez) Salgado.
Mr. Salgado moved to Vermont in 1950 and worked as a salesman for several vacuum cleaner businesses including Electrolux. After retirement he opened his own business, Frank’s Vacs in Vergennes.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Sandra (Danyow) Salgado of Vergennes; two sons, Anthony Salgado of Essex Junction and Allen Salgado of San Diego, Calif.; two daughters, Andrea Holtke of Chesterton, Ind., and Alaina Salgado of Waltham; three grandchildren; a sister, Carlotta Gomez of Sweetwater, Texas, and five nieces.
The funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Vergennes. Burial will follow in Prospect Cemetery in Vergennes.
There will be no calling hours.

Guila Ackley
Guila St. John Ackley, 96, of Rutland, died April 26, 2001, at Rutland Regional Medical Center after a long illness.
She was born Oct. 28, 1904, in Hubbardton, daughter of Elmer and Carrie (Smith) St. John.
She grew up in Hubbardton and attended local schools, graduating from Rutland High School in 1920. She moved to Clarendon in 1941.
She was a member of the Clarendon Congregational “Old Brick” Church, serving as church organist and member and past president of the Ladies Aid Society. She was also a member and past president of the Clarendon PTA and the Clarendon Pomona Grange, and she served as the Clarendon Town Librarian.
Mrs. Ackley moved to Rutland in 1965 and was a member and treasure of the Sheldon Towers Tenant Association. She was an active volunteer with Rutland Senior Volunteer Program at Rutland Senior Center. While a resident at Genesis Elder Care Mountain View Center, she was an active volunteer for many of the in-house activities.
Survivors include three daughters, Audrey Arnado of Rutland, Norma Ferguson of Fair Haven and Carlene Davis of Clarendon; a son, William Ackley of Rutland; a half-sister, Leona McKearin of Rutland; a half-brother, Rodney St. John of Cuttingsville; 24 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Clyde R. Ackley, who died in 1965; two sons, C. Russell Ackley Jr. and Myron Ackley; a sister, Elvira Whitman ; and a brother, Ruben St. John.
The funeral service will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at the Grace Congregational United Church of Christ, Court Street, in Rutland. Burial will follow in East Clarendon Cemetery.
Friends may call Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and the Aldous Funeral Home, 44 North Main St., Rutland.

George W. Sparks
George W. Sparks, 73 died April 27, 2001, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

Virginia J. Kovolick
PITTSFORD — Virginia J. (Ginger) Kovolick, 58, died Friday, April 27, 2001, at Rutland Regional Medical Center in Rutland.
Mrs. Kovolick was born on March 8, 1943, in Chicago, Illinois, the daughter of Frederick and Marion (Seversen) Poeter.
She was former owner of North American Realty and was a real estate broker and a certified appraiser. She also owned and operated Sugar Mountain Confections. She was an active member of the Saint Alphonsus Catholic Church and cantor for the church choir.
Virginia was devoted to her church and her grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband of 39½ years, Martin T. Kovolick of Pittsford, whom she married on January 25, 1962; three daughters, Amanda Miranda of Kingsport, Tenn., April Williams of Underhill, Vt., and Kate Cook of Brandon, Vt.; two sisters, Noreen Backus of Connecticut and Barbara Poeter Sall of Hubbardton; five grandchildren, Jason Williams, Alexa Williams, Ariel Miranda, Brady Cook and Robert Cook.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 30, 2001, at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Pittsford at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in St. Alphonsus Cemetery in Pittsford.
Friends may call at the Barnard Funeral Home in Pittsford on Sunday from 6 to 9 p.m.

Joanna Bartlett-Boehnert
Joanna Bartlett-Boehnert, 62, of Guelph, Ontario, Canada, and Randolph, died April 26, 2001, as a result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident in Wakefield, N.H.
She was the daughter of Norman E. and Rosetta (Harlow) Bartlett, longtime residents of Rutland.
She graduated from Rutland High School in 1957 and earned a bachelor’s degree from Lake Erie College in 1961, a master’s degree in psychology from Iowa State University in 1964 and a doctorate in psychology from the University of Toronto in 1967.
In 1968, she joined the psychology department at the University of Guelph. In 1980, she established the University’s Women’s Study Program, of which she remained the director until 1994. In 1990 she was coordinator of the University of Guelph’s Study Abroad Program, and for the last 10 years she conducted an active study of Polish women under communism. During this time she spent numerous semesters at the University of Krakow, Poland. She taught and lectured on this subject in Canada and abroad.
Survivors include her husband of 40 years, Gunnar C. Boehnert; two daughters, Jody Boehnert of London, England, and Jennifer Boehnert of Boulder, Colo.; two brothers, Edward H. Bartlett of Wakefield, N.H., and Joseph H. Bartlett of Milton; two sisters, Corinne Behler of Merritt Island, Fla., and Mary E. Varricchione of West Rutland; and several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church with the Rev. Audrey Murdock, assistant priest, officiating.
Calling hours will be held Sunday from 4 to 7 p.m. at the Tossing Funeral Home.
