THELMA VINCENT LAWTON
MEDFORD MASS. / ST. ALBANS -- Mrs. Thelma Vincent Lawton, age 84, died Saturday morning, Oct. 13, 2001, in the Glenridge Nursing Care Center in Malden, Mass. Thelma was born in Montreal, Que., Canada, on June 18, 1917, daughter of the late Philias and Ann (Kingsley) Vincent. She had been a telephone operator for the New England Telephone Company. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
On Dec. 26, 1946, she married Arthur Douglas Lawton in St. Albans. He died Oct. 30, 1996. Thelma is survived by her son David and his wife Deborah Lawton of Wilmington, Mass.; four grandchildren; two great-grandsons; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy and her husband John (Zeb) Larry of St. Albans, and Oria Lawton of Bennington; several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by her three children Douglas Lawton in Feb. 1969, Gail Lawton Chagnon in June 15, 1998, and Heather Lawton Murphy, Aug. 3, 2001, two sisters Marguerite Duffy and Irene Colacino.
Funeral Services will be held at the grave site at the time of burial, in the Vincent family lot in the Holy Cross Cemetery in St. Albans, at the convenience of her family. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.
OLIVE H. GABUZDA
MONTGOMERY -- Olive H. Gabuzda, age 50, a resident of Montgomery since 1978, died Saturday morning, Oct. 13 2001 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans with her family by her side.
She was born Aug. 25, 1951 in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of Jeanne (Hitchcock) Hildebrand and the late Robert Hildebrand. She was a loving wife, mother, and daughter.
She is survived by her husband, George Gabuzda; her son Eli Gabuzda, both of Montgomery; and her mother, Jeanne Hildebrand of Enosburg Falls.
Friends are invited to attend a graveside service which will be held Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. at the Montgomery Village Cemetery.

HARRY CLAYTON PAULETTE
ST. ALBANS -- Harry C. Paulette, 79, passed away Thursday evening, Oct. 11, 2001, at his residence following a lengthy illness.
He was born in North Troy, Vt., Feb. 4, 1922, the son of the late Clayton and Lucy Mae (Pangborn) Paulette. On May 25, 1946, Harry married Marjorie Goslett in Enosburg. Together they owned and operated Paulette's Antiques and Collectibles on Fairfield Hill in St. Albans.
Harry was an antique car enthusiast and belonged to Vermont Auto Enthusiasts. He also was an accomplished restorer of antiques and furniture. He was a graduate of North Troy High School, Class of 1939 and soon after graduation he joined the Army Air Corps where he was part of a flight crew in the Air Transport Command. He was a member of Mystic Lodge # 56, F & AM in Stowe and Masonic Union # 16, F & AM in Troy, Vt. He also belonged to Jay Peak Post #28, American Legion. He was employed as project engineer by Boise Cascade Paper Mill in Sheldon Springs for 31 years.
Harry is survived by his wife of 55 years, Marjorie Goslett Paulette of St. Albans; a son Frederick E. Paulette of North Hyde Park; a son-in- law, Timothy Blaisdell of Johnson; and a brother-in- law, Reginald Goslett of Johnson. He was predeceased by his daughters Sandra Paulette-Halmos on Aug. 9, 1970 and Judy Paulette-Blaisdell on Dec. 19, 1999; and his brothers, William and George Paulette.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 11 a.m. at the Paulette family lot in North Hyde Park Cemetery. The Masonic lodges from Stowe and Troy will conduct the services. Military honors will also be accorded.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Hospice Program of Franklin County Home Health Agency, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, Vt. 05478 Visitation will be on Tuesday from 7-9 p.m. in the Heald Funeral Home, 87 S. Main Street, St. Albans.
NOEL J. LAFARR
ST. ALBANS -- Noel J. "Freddy" LaFarr, age, 58, died Thursday morning, Oct. 11, 2001 in the Fletcher Allen Health Care Center following an extended illness with diabetes.
He was born in Highgate Dec. 25, 1942, son of the late Robert and Priscilla (Mower) LaFarr. Noel was more affectionately known as Freddy by his many friends and family. For the past several years he was employed at the Champlain Cable Company.
On May 29, 2965 Freddy married Irene Bessette. Irene died Aug. 21, 1980. Following her death, Freddy gave loving care to their two daughters and held a special place in his heart for his granddaughter.
His daughters are Carol LaFarr of St. Albans Bay and Cheryl LaFarr of Georgia; his granddaughter is Mariah Irene LaFarr. He is also survived by his seven siblings and their spouses, Arlene and Robert Campbell of Highgate, Harold and Janet LaFarr of Milton, Robert LaFarr of Highgate, Michael and Diane LaFarr of West Swanton, Oglor and Winston Machia of Sheldon, Dennis LaFarr of St. Albans, Jane and Bruce Lawrence of St. Albans Bay; a special sister-in-law Donna LaFarr of Swanton; special friends Joyce Guyette and Gary Longe both of St. Albans; several niece, nephews, and cousins. He will be greatly missed by his family.
A graveside funeral service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 17, 2001 at 2 p.m., in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Interment will follow in the family lot in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the American Diabetes Association, 77 Hedgman Ave., Colchester, Vt. 05446. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.
RALPH C. TRACY
FAIRFAX -- Ralph Charles Tracy, age 62, a longtime resident of Fairfax passed away early Thursday morning, Oct. 11, 2001, at his home in Fairfax with his loving family by his side. He died after a long illness from lung complications due to inhaling silo gases.
He was born in Plymouth, N.H.. on May 11, 1939, son of the late Harland E. Tracy and Ola (Ellsworth) Tracy. He graduated from BFA Fairfax with the class of 1959. He also graduated from VTC Class of 1961 where he majored in Agriculture. He attended the Vermont Military OCS-65 and was a member of the Lamoille Lodge #6 F&AM of Fairfax.
On Oct. 11, 1993 he married the former Linda Bourdeau in their home in Fairfax.
Ralph is survived by his loving wife, Linda Tracy of Fairfax; his mother Ola Tracy of Fairfax; a step-son Brian Bourdeau of Bedford, Que.; four sisters, Beverly Warren and her husband Martin of Michigan, Shirley Geno and her husband Roger of Fletcher; Phyllis Fletcher and her husband Rawleigh of Cambridge; Barbara O'Toole and her husband Michael of New Jersey; his mother-in-law Mildred (Erno) Bourdeau of Bedford, Que.; a very special uncle and aunt, Ralph Ellsworth of Fairfax and Helen Klint of Connecticut, Jeffrey Greenwood and family of Fairfax; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visiting hours will be held Friday, Oct. 12 2001, at the Hayes-Rich Funeral Home from 6-9 p.m. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, Oct. 13, at 1 p.m. in the United Church of Fairfax with the Rev. Elisabeth Griffin officiating.
Burial will follow in the family lot in Binghamville Cemetery, Fletcher. RUDOLPH PAUL VCELKA
SOUTH HERO -- Rudolph Paul Vcelka died unexpectedly Wednesday Oct. 10, 2001 at the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington. Rudolph was born in Holboken, N.J. on Feb. 26, 1911, the son of Paul and Theresa (Bizek) Vcelka.
He was a graduate of New York University and had been retired from Consolidated Edison were he was the general manager of Purchasing and Stores.
On July 27, 1938, Rudolph married the former Dorothy Merkel. He and Dorothy had resided in South Hero for the last 20 years, where he was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. He was also a former 3rd degree member of the Knights of Columbus Memorare Council of Long Island, N.Y.
In addition to his wife Dorothy, Rudolph is survived by his daughter Jane McNally of Tully, N.Y., and his son Ralph Vcelka and his wife Carol of Long Island, N.Y., and by his grandchildren Meghan and Jason and several great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday Oct. 13, at 2 p.m. in the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in South Hero. Burial will be in Mount St. Mary's Cemetery in Long Island on Monday following a 1 p.m. service in Mount St. Mary's Chapel.

Visiting hours will be held Saturday, Oct. 13 from noon to 1:30 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home, located at 237 Rt. 7 South in Milton.
LUCY ANNE WASHER DAVIS
BURLINGTON -- Mrs. Lucy Anne (Washer) Davis, 94, passed away in the same gracious manner as she lived life on Tuesday Oct. 9, 2001, at the Medical Center Hospital. Lucy had been a resident at the Cathedral Square for over 20 years. In January of this year she joined the residents of the Converse Home on Lower Church Street, where she lived her last year in Victorian style.
She was born in Sheldon on Oct. 16, 1906, the daughter of Charles M. and Helen (Lloyd) Washer. Her husband, Reginald E. Davis, whom she married in 1928, predeceased her on Aug. 31, 1954. Her only sister, Mrs. Lilian Sinclair passed away in 1998. Survivors include her dear friends, Christine and Natalie Powell and many friends from Magrams Department Store where Lucy worked for over 20 years.
Lucy had a wit that could make anyone laugh. She was a small framed woman with beautiful style, always dressing with a flair. Lucy will be missed by so many from the Burlington and St. Albans area. Loving thanks to all of the wonderful people who watched over Lucy at Cathedral Square and to her new caring friends at the Converse Home.
A graveside funeral service will be held on Friday at 10:30 a.m. in the Davis/Washer family lot at St. Albans Bay Cemetery(one and a half miles down Lake Street in St. Albans). There will be no visiting hours and Lucy requested flowers be omitted. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. Paul's Cathedral, Cathedral Square, Burlington 05401. Arrangements are by the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St., St. Albans.
ARNOLD C. DECKER
GEORGIA -- Arnold Carr Decker, age 77, passed away early Tuesday afternoon Oct. 9, 2001 at Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans. He was born March 29, 1924 in Georgia, son of the late Reuben and Charlotte (Carr) Decker.
He worked on the family dairy farm in Georgia in the 1960s and 1070s as a third generation farmer. He enjoyed the quite times spent in Vermont's great outdoors fishing and hunting and especially looked forward to the Pennsylvania hunting trips with his hunting partners.
Most of all, he loved his family, spending quality and precious time whenever possible with his "adopted" grandchildren who loved him dearly. His love and attentions will be greatly missed by his family, and all of those who had the good fortune to know and love him.
Arnold is survived by two brothers, Winfred Decker Sr. and his wife, Lura, of Georgia, Judson Decker of St. Albans; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a very special nephew and his wife, Winfred and Aleta Decker Jr. of Jeffersonville with whom Arnold made his home for over 15 years. He was predeceased by a brother, Bill Decker.
Visiting hours will be held at the Hayes-Rich Funeral Home on Thursday Oct. 11, from 7-9 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday Oct. 12, at 11 a.m. in the United Church of Fairfax.
