Frank J. Malinowski
LEICESTER - Frank James Malinowski, 85, died Feb. 7, 2001, at the Helen Porter Nursing Home in Middlebury.
He was born Sept. 7, 1915, in West Rutland, son of Karl and Helen (Geryk) Malinowski.
He received his early education in the Brandon schools.
In his earlier years Mr. Malinowski was a woodsman and had logged for many years. During the mid 1960s he was a heavy equipment operator while working on the construction of Interstate 89 between Waterbury and Montpelier. He later worked at Vermont Marble Co. in Proctor, retiring in 1977.
Survivors include three sons, George S. Malinowski and Richard J. Malinowski, both of Leicester and Robert J. Malinowski of Brandon; three daughters, Betty LaJoice of Forest Dale, Penny Bennett of Lake Luzern, N.Y., and Jennifer Jewell of Ferrisburgh; 18 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; and several cousins.
He was predeceased by a sister, Mary Swinington in 1994; and a nephew in 1997.
He was an avid hunter and fisherman.
The funeral will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Miller and Ketcham Funeral Home in Brandon with the Rev. Richard White, pastor of the Brandon Congregational Church, officiating. Interment will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery Receiving Vault in Brandon. A private graveside committal service and burial will be held at a later date in St. Mary's Cemetery in Brandon.
Friends may call Friday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Memorial contributions in lieu of flowers may be made to the Brandon Area Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 232, Brandon, 05733.

Iris C. Bevins
RUTLAND - Iris C. Bevins, 84, of Rutland died Feb. 9, 2001, at the Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Rutland.
She was born July 31, 1916, in St. Albans, the daughter of John and Maude (Garrity) Chappel.
She graduated from Swanton High School in 1933 and attended Albany Business College.
She was married to Winston "Buck" Bevins. He died in 1971.
Mrs. Bevins worked at Tambrands of Rutland for 17 years, until her retirement in 1980.
Survivors include three daughters, Deborah Schweizer, Donna Godette and Nancy Wennberg, all of Rutland; a sister, Avis Barrette of Webster, N.Y.; and three grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Trinity Episcopal Chapel in Rutland. Burial will take place Wednesday at Riverside Cemetery in Swanton.
There are no calling hours.

Harlan Lester Rites
RUTLAND - Funeral services for Harlan "Bud" Lester, 76, of Rutland, who died Feb. 6, 2001, at Mountain View Genesis Elder Care in Rutland, were held Saturday at St. Peter's Church in Rutland.
The Rev. John W. Hamilton, a brother-in-law and pastor of St. John Vianney in South Burlington, officiated, assisted by the Rev. Andre Houle, pastor of St. Peter's Church.
Burial will be later at Cheney Hill Cemetery in Rutland Town.
Joseph Tilden, Robert Tedesco, James Davidson, Alfred Flory and Al Michael Cioffi were ministers of the altar.
Granddaughters Jody and Amy Lester were readers. Amy Lester read a poem, and Jody Lester offered words of remembrance.
John Riddle was organist. Beth Peters was vocalist.
Anthony Grabowski, Raymond Vignoe, George Zsido, David Zsido, Jack Hennessey and Jack Cane were bearers.
American Legion Post 31 members provided military services. James Burke, Richard White, Gary Fitzgerald and Paul Poljacik were flag folders.
The Rev. Hamilton led prayer services Friday at the Clifford Funeral Home.

Entombment followed the service at Pine Hill Cemetery. Private graveside committal services and burial will be later at St. Mary's Cemetery.

John P. Powers Rites
CORNWALL - Funeral services for John P. Powers, a 50-year member of the Cornwall Fire Department who died Feb. 6, 2001, at his home, were held Saturday at Cornwall Congregational Church. Charlotte Phillips officiated. Joan Payne was pianist.
Members of the Cornwall Fire Department Leighton Riley, Bill Fuller, Denis Rheaume, Ken Manchester, Doug Fenn and Lewis Castle were bearers.
Graveside committal services will be later at Evergreen Cemetery in Cornwall.

Ethel K. Stickney
RUTLAND - Ethel K. Stickney, 88, of Castleton died Feb. 10, 2001, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 8, 1912, in Carteret, N.H., the daughter of Chester I. and Mary (Trotter) King.
She was married to James C. Stickney. He died April 12, 2000.
Mrs. Stickney was a member of Grace Congregational United Church of Christ.
Survivors include a daughter, Marilyn DeTizio of Pittsford; two sons, Robert A. Stickney of Henderson, Nev., and Ronald T. Stickney of Sparta, N.J.; two sisters, Irene Stickney of West Falmouth, Mass., and Elaine Drake of Roselle Park, N.J.; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held later.

Harry Edward Wilbur
GRAFTON - Harry Edward Wilbur, 63, of Grafton died Feb. 9, 2001, at his home after a brief illness.
He was born Oct. 25, 1937, in Grafton to Bestus and Helen Wilbur.
He grew up in Grafton and graduated from Bellows Falls High School. While in school, he was starting pitcher for the baseball team. He played on the town team and helped it win the 1959 state championship.
Mr. Wilbur joined the National Guard after high school and was stationed in Grafton.
He was town road commissioner and retired from the job after 20 years. He was known for his draft horse, carriage and sleigh rides.
Mr. Wilbur loved coon and deer hunting, working with his horses and fishing.
Survivors include his wife of 43 years, Anita Wilbur of Grafton; his mother, Helen Wilbur of Bellows Falls; two sons, Corey and Ladd Wilbur, both of Grafton; a daughter, Julie Poland of Charlestown, N.H.; four grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering is planned for 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at the Adams and Kenney Funeral Home on Depot Street in Chester.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the White Church in Grafton.

John R. White Rites
WALLINGFORD — The memorial service for John R. “Jack” White, 63, of Wallingford, who died Feb. 7, 2001, was held Saturday at the Wallingford Congregational Church. The Rev. Murdale Leysath of Rutland officiated.
The organist and vocalist was Laureen Marquis.
Mr. White’s wife, Dawn Hufford White, opened the service with a general welcome and introduction of the White family to the congregation. His four children, Wendy Schmid, Jody Nyctea, Randall C. White and J. Tobin White, participated with personal remembrances and readings.
Following the memorial service, the family received friends in the church hall.

Ethel K. Stickney, 88, of Castleton, died Feb. 10, 2001, at the Rutland Regional Medical Center.
She was born Sept. 8, 1912, in Cateret, N.J., daughter of Chester I. and Mary (Trotter) King.

Jane Mitchell
Jane Mitchell, 82, died Feb. 11, 2001, at Mountain View Center in Rutland.
She was the widow of John E. Mitchell, who died in 1982.
