Lillian Valente

TROY, N.Y. - Lillian Valente, 81, formerly of Lansingburgh, died Feb. 2, 2001, at Samaritan Hospital.

She was born May 19, 1919, in Rutland, Vt., the daughter of Enrico and Benilde Catazzi Solari.

She attended schools in Rutland and graduated from Mount St. Joseph Academy in Rutland, Vt.

She married John R. Valente Sr. of Colonie.

Mrs. Valente had been a housewife and homemaker.

She was a communicant of St. Augustine's Church.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Alan Valente of Latham and John R. Valente Jr. of Foster City, Calif.; two sisters, Florence Dell'Orto of Troy and Jenny Green of Melrose; and four grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by a brother, Clement Perfetti.

The funeral will be held Monday at 8:45 a.m. at the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home Inc., the corner of 115th St. and 4th Ave., Lansingburgh, and then at 9:30 a.m. at St. Augustine's Church where the Liturgy of Christian Death and Burial will be celebrated. Interment will be held in Calvary Cemetery in Rutland, Vt.

Calling hours will be held Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the funeral home.

Arrangements are under the direction of the John J. Sanvidge Funeral Home Inc.

Allen N. Berg

Allen Norman Berg, 74, of Rutland, died Feb. 1, 2001, at his home.

He was born Jan. 3, 1927, in Proctor, son of Carl L. and Anilla (Tillberg) Berg.

He graduated from Proctor High School in 1944.

Mr. Berg was employed at Howe Scale Co. as production supervisor for several years and General Electric Co. as a tool gauge maker, retiring in 1989.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church where he served on the Board of Trustees and was head usher for 10 years. He was also a member of the Killington Sports Car Club.

He was a radio-controlled model airplane builder and flyer, and enjoyed carpentry and making things with his hands. He was also an avid golfer.

Survivors include his wife, Faith (White) Berg of Rutland; two brothers, Walter Berg of Springfield and Hjalmar Berg of North Palm Beach, Fla.; a sister, Bertha R. Whittemore of Rutland Town; and several nieces and nephews, and grandnieces and grandnephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Berg of Santa Monica, Calif., in Dec. 2000.

The memorial service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Chapel of the United Methodist Church with the Rev. Edward A. Hackett Jr., pastor, officiating. Burial will be held at a later date in Riverside Cemetery in Proctor.

A reception will follow the service in the Church Fellowship Hall.

Contributions may be made to the Trustees of the Elevator Fund of the United Methodist Church, 71 Williams St., Rutland, 05701.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Tossing Funeral Home.

Frederick A. Beals

WILMINGTON, N.C. - Frederick A. Beals, 78, of Wilmington, N.C., died Sunday, January 14, 2001, at his residence. He was born January 15, 1922, in Poultney, Vt., son of the late Fred Hiram and Helen Parks Beals. Mr. Beals lived in Colonie, N.Y., for 30 years and was a member of the Pine Grove Methodist Church. He retired from Sterling Winthrop Drug and lived in Crystal River, Fla., for 13 years, where he enjoyed playing golf, fishing and travel.

Mr. Beals was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving as a Quartermaster on PT Boats in the South Pacific. He was a member of the American Legion and a member of PT Boats Inc., a non-profit organization of veterans of World War II that served on PT Boats. Mr. Beals organized several regional PT Boat reunion gatherings and was active in the national organization as well.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia Beals of Wilmington, N.C.; three sons, Richard Beals and his wife Sandy of Wilmington, N.C., Jon Beals and his wife Fatima of Clifton Park, N.Y., and David Beals and his wife Connie of Colonie, N.Y.; one daughter, Carol Ahl and her husband, Ellery of Scotia, N.Y. Also surviving are 11 grandchildren, Jon Beals and his wife Lamon of Wilmington, N.C., Christopher Beals and his wife Robin of Wilmington, N.C., Steven Beals and his wife Jessica of Holmes, N.Y., Gregory Beals of Honolulu, Hawaii, John and Brian Ahl of Scotia, N.Y., and Rachel and Allison Beals of Colonie, N.Y. He was also the proud great-grandfather of Joshua Beals.

A memorial service was held January, 17, 2001, at the Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel given by Pastor Mark Spelzhausen. Interment will be at a later date at the Saratoga National Cemetery in Schuylerville, N.Y.

Memorials may be made to Lower Cape Fear Hospice, 725-A Wellington Ave., Wilmington, N.C., 28401.

Julie A. Savery

Julie A. Savery, 29, of Clearwater, Fla., and former Rutland resident, died Jan. 31, 2001, in Nevada.

She was born July 1, 1971, in Rutland, daughter of Philip L. and Pamela (Noble) Savery.

She graduated from Rutland High School in 1989.

Survivors include her father of Rutland; her mother, of Phoenixville, Pa.; a sister, Judith Savery of Phoenixville, Pa.; a brother, Joseph Savery of Phoenixville, Pa.; a stepbrother, Anthony Noble of Phoenixville, Pa.; a paternal grandmother, Angeline C. Savery of Rutland; and aunts, uncles and cousins.

The funeral will be held Tuesday at 10 a.m. at St. Peter's Church in Rutland with the Rev. Andre Houle, pastor, officiating. Burial will be at a later date in East Clarendon Cemetery.

Calling hours will be held Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.

Contributions may be made to Community Cupboard, 191 Columbian Ave., Rutland, 05701, or St. Peter's Restoration Fund, Convent Avenue, Rutland, 05701.

Arrangements are under the direction of Clifford Funeral Home.

Richard P. Wilson Sr.

WEST RUTLAND - Richard P. Wilson Sr., 69, died Friday at his home.

He was born in Stoneham, Mass., on May 16, 1931, the son of Edward and Audrey (Hobbs) Wilson.

Mr. Wilson was a Brighton, Mass., High School graduate.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran.

He was an electronic technician for RCA and General Electric Corp., retiring in 1994.

He was a former resident of Acton, Mass., and Billerica, Mass. He moved to Vermont from Massachusetts in 1999.

Mr. Wilson was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Massachusetts. He was a ham radio operator.

Surviving are his wife, Jeanne E. (Grant) Wilson of West Rutland; a daughter, Nancy J. Bean of West Rutland; a son, Richard P. Wilson Jr. and his wife Judy of Windham, N.H.; four grandchildren, Christy and Melissa Wozniak, and Caleigh and Ryan Wilson; two brothers, Edward Wilson of Tewksbury, Mass., and Forest S. Wilson of Daytona, Fla.; a sister, Audry Dimassino of Mansfield, Ga.; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. at the Clifford Funeral Home. Burial will be held at a later date in Evergreen Cemetery in Rutland.

Friends may call at the Clifford Funeral Home Tuesday from 4 to 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Rutland Area Visiting Nurse Association and Hospice, P.O. Box 787, Rutland, 05702, or Community Cancer Center, in care of Rutland Regional Medical Center, Allen Street, Rutland, 05701.

D. Bruce Campbell

Donald Bruce Campbell, 55, of Rutland, died in Rutland Town.

Services are pending.

John W. McDonough Rites

The funeral for John W. McDonough, 79, of Rutland, who died Jan. 30, 2000, at Rutland Regional Medical Center, was held Friday at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Church with the Rev. Reid C. Mayo, pastor, officiating. Concelebrants were the Rev. W. Andre Houle, pastor of St. Peter's Church and the Rev. John Herbert, assistant pastor of St. Peter's Church. Burial was in St. Mary's Cemetery in Brandon.

Organist was Sister Pauline Gratton and vocalist was Cynthia Wierzbicki.

Readers were Ellen McDonough, Marion Layn, Joan Lennox and Karen Reardon. Words of remembrance were offered by Mary Dellasanta.

Altar servers were Lauren Layn and Bridget Reardon.

Bearers were Martin McDonough, Larry Myhre and Ronald Myhre, all of Rutland, and Brian McDonough of Braintree, Mass.

The American Legion Post 31 provided military services. Jack Allen presented the flag to the family.

Prayer services were held Thursday afternoon at the Clifford Funeral Home by the Rev. Mayo.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.

Mary A. Horvath Rites

RUTLAND - A funeral mass for Mary "Toni" Horvath, 75, who died Jan. 31, 2001, in Rutland, was held Saturday at St. Peter's Church. The Rev. John Herbert, assistant pastor, officiated.

Elise Cassarino was vocalist. John Riddle was organist. James Davidson was reader.

Alfred Flory, Al Michael Cioffi, James Davidson and Ann Bizzarro were ministers of the altar.

Mike Kelly, John Kelly, Jim Patch, Steve McNulty, Rick McNulty and Dennis McNulty were bearers.

The Rev. Herbert led a prayer service at the Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.

Anna M. Jasinski

SPRINGFIELD - Anna M. Jasinski, 84, of Mount Vernon Street, died Feb. 3, 2001, at the Springfield Hospital after a brief illness.

She was born Oct. 28, 1916, in Springfield, the daughter of Adam and Valeyria (Adamovich) Malco. She graduated from Springfield High School in 1936 and was a lifelong resident of Springfield.

She married John J. Jasinski Nov. 5, 1940, in Springfield. He died in 1954.

Mrs. Jasinski served as the paymaster for Bryant Grinder Corp. for several years. She owned and operated the Mount Vernon Greenhouse at her home for more than 35 years, and designed and manufactured ladies' hats.

She was an active member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and an avid baker who operated a small bakery out of her home.

Survivors include two sons, Ronald Jasinski of North Hollywood, Calif., and Michael Jasinski of Springfield; a sister, Marie Hagenow of Dover, N.H.; a brother, Edward Malco of Tempe, Ariz.; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband, she was predeceased by two sisters, Stella Kevethkosky and Evelyn Green; and three brothers, Mitchell Malco Sr., Charles Malco and Stanley Malco.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. The Rev. Gerald Flater will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date at St. Mary's Cemetery.

Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Davis Memorial Chapel in Springfield.

Memorial contributions may be made to Springfield Meals on Wheels, 139 Main St., Springfield, VT 05156, or to the Visiting Nurse Association of Southeastern Vermont, 366 River St., Springfield, VT 05156.

The Davis Memorial Chapel is in charge of arrangements.

Doris Shattuck Lee

BARRE - Doris Frances Shattuck Lee, 82, died Feb. 1, 2001, at the Berlin Health and Rehabilitation Center in Berlin.

She was born Nov. 2, 1918, in Londonderry, the daughter of Jerry Almon Shattuck and Marjorie Caroline Waite. She graduated from Chester High School in 1936.

She married Robert Edward Lee on Dec. 20, 1947. He is deceased.

Mrs. Lee worked for the War Manpower Administration in Springfield during World War II and served as a volunteer pilot with the Civil Air Patrol.

She worked for the National Survey Co. in Chester and Union Carbide Co. in St. Albans and was a secretary and technical writer for a number of Burlington architects.

Mrs. Lee owned and operated the Buccaneer Ski Lodge in Stowe until 1973. She was a member of the Vermont Historical Society and the Burlington Parent Teacher Association.

She spend her retirement in Bradenton, Fla., and Colchester, and will be remembered for her short stories and her love of reading.

Survivors include a son, David F. Lee of Brookfield; a daughter, Diana R. Lee of Berlin; two brothers, Donald Shattuck of Springfield and Jerold Shattuck of Windham, N.H.; two grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.

Graveside services will be held in the spring at the Fort Ethan Allen Cemetery in Colchester.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Vermont Children's Aid Society, P.O. Box 127, Winooski, VT 05404.

The Ready Funeral Home in Burlington is in charge of arrangements.

Richard P. Wilson Sr.

WEST RUTLAND - Funeral services for Richard P. Wilson Sr., 69, who died Feb. 2, 2001, at his home, will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Clifford Funeral Home in Rutland.

Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Bernard E. Barcomb

Bernard E. Barcomb, 61, of Rutland died Feb. 6, 2001, at Rutland Regional Medical Center.

Funeral arrangements are pending with the Aldous Funeral Home.
