Jerry A. Judd
BETHEL - Jerry A. Judd, 71, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, at the Center for Living and Rehabilitation in Bennington.
He was born May 24, 1929, in North Troy, the son Carl and Greta (Huckins) Judd.
Mr. Judd lived in Bethel for more than 30 years. He graduated from Whitcomb High School in 1947.
He enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball and animals.
Mr. Judd was employed by the former Weyerhauser Products.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Linda Wood of Rochester; five daughters, Judith Royer of Coventry, Carol Twitchell of Granville, Gloria Stevenson of Rochester, Barbara Wood of Pownal and Mary Kresconko of Rutland; 13 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mae Ainsworth and Dorine Pratt of Rochester; and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two sisters, Gloria Jesso and Grazia Tilton.
Friends may call Wednesday, Dec. 20, from 1 to 2 p.m. at the Federated Church of Rochester.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Dec. 20, at 2 p.m. in the Federated Church of Rochester with the Rev. William Daniels, pastor, officiating.

Shirley B. Holland
BURLINGTON - Shirley Beth Sanderson Holland, 76, died Saturday, Dec. 16, 2000, at Starr Farm Nursing Center in Burlington.
Mrs. Sanderson was born in Rutland Feb. 4, 1924, the daughter of Carl and Hazel (Patterson) Sanderson.
She graduated from Rutland High School in 1942. She later attended Rutland Hospital School of Nursing and received her registered nurse's license in 1945. She worked for Rutland Hospital for several years. She married Ervin B. Holland in 1947 in Rutland. They moved to Key West, Fla., for several years and then returned to Burlington. Mrs. Holland worked at Mary Fletcher Hospital and Bishop DeGoesbriand Hospital.
She was a member of Cathedral Church of St. Paul in Burlington.
She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Ervin B. Holland of Burlington; two daughters, Pamela Pelky of South Burlington and Peggy Holland of Burlington; three granddaughters; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by a brother, Carl Sanderson Jr., and a sister, Genevieve Austin.

A funeral will be held Tuesday, Dec. 19, at 1 p.m. in St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Brandon, with the Rev. Gordon Bardos, rector, and the Rev. Beverly St. Germain, deacon at Cathedral St. Paul, officiating. Burial will follow in Pine Hill Cemetery in Brandon.

Hazel White Scarborough
LEICESTER - Hazel White Scarborough, 91, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, at Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Rutland.
Mrs. Scarborough was born in Leicester on Dec. 27, 1908, the daughter of Frank and Isabel (Ferson) White.
Mrs. Scarborough graduated from Brandon High School and later from Bristol Teachers School. She began teaching at Fernville School in Leicester and later at Leicester School 4 until 1939. She worked at the Ayershire Office of Brandon for many years before working as a secretary in the Administration Office of Brandon. She retired in 1975.
Mrs. Scarborough was a member of Leicester Senior Citizens and the Leicester Homemakers Club. In earlier years she was active in 4-H.
Survivors include two daughters, Jane M. Scarborough of Leicester and Jean M. Whipple if Arizona; a son, Curtis A. Scarborough of Brandon; a sister, Dorothy Scarborough of Leicester; two granddaughters; and several nieces and nephews.

A funeral will be held Wednesday at the funeral home at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Richard White, pastor of the Brandon Congregational Church, officiating.

Susan Ann Gilliam
Susan Ann Gilliam, 83, died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, at Eden Park Nursing Home in Rutland.
Friends may call Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Mullin-Clifford Funeral Home in West Rutland.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Bridget's Church in West Rutland with the Rev. Frank Warzocha, pastor of St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, officiating.
Burial will be at a later date in Riverside Cemetery.
Grace Elizabeth Blair
MIDDLETOWN SPRINGS - Mrs. Grace Elizabeth Blair, 88, died Sunday morning, Dec. 24, 2000, at the Mountain View Center Genesis Elder Care in Rutland after a long illness.
Mrs. Blair was born on Dec. 8, 1912 in Providence, R.I., the daughter of the late John and Elizabeth (Richmond) Chambers.
Mrs. Blair was a former resident of Middletown Springs, returning to Vermont in 1970. Most recently she resided at the Meadows At East Mountain in Rutland.
Mrs. Blair is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ginger Blair Archer of East Poultney; her twin sons, Mr. Stanley J. Blair of Hubbardton and Mr. Lewis E. Blair of Boonton, N.J.; her sisters, Mrs. Emily Jarvela of Bradenton Beach, Fla.; her five grandchildren, Mrs. Kristin Tatham of San Francisco, Calif., Mr. Casey Archer of Manhattan, N.Y., Mr. Jason Blair of Marlborough, Mass., Mr. Todd Blair of Boston, Mass., and Mrs. Ashley Haggerty of Plainville, Mass.; her two granddogs, "Jake" and "Jabber"; her grandson, Mr. Thomas Hunter Tatham of San Francisco, Calif. and also several nieces and nephews.
Mrs. Blair was predeceased by her husband, Mr. Stanley J. Blair, her two sisters and also by her two brothers.
There will be no visiting hours.
A service of remembrance will be celebrated at the Trinity Episcopal Church in Poultney at later date.

Frances Webster
Frances Katomski Webster, 77, of Rutland died Saturday morning, Dec. 23, 2000, at her residence after a long illness.
She was born March 11, 1923, the daughter of Stanley and Anna (Jasko) Katomski.
Mrs. Webster grew up in West Rutland and attended local schools. She later moved to Mortan, Ill., for eight years. She returned to Rutland in 1982.
She worked for Grand Union and for Sweatertown for several years until her retirement due to failing health.
Survivors include two sisters, Ann Watts of Rutland and Felicia Keefe of Bronx, N.Y.; two brothers, Joseph Katomski of San Diego, Calif., and Charles Katomski of Newport, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Raymond Webster, who died in 1978; and by three brothers, Frank Katomski, Stanley Katomski and Casmir Katomski.
There are no public calling hours.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, Dec. 29, at St. Stanislaus Kostka Church in West Rutland. A private burial will be held in Calvary Cemetery.

Myrtle Adelaide Hamilton
Myrtle Adelaide Hamilton, 93, of Rutland died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, at Pleasant Manor Nursing Home.
She was born July 19, 1907, in Cavendish, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Williams) Taylor.
Mrs. Hamilton grew up in West Rutland and attended local schools.
She worked for Tambrands and Battles Home Laundry.
Survivors include a son, Richard R. Hamilton of Rutland; a sister, Ethel Stickney of Sarasota, Fla.; five grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband, Rufus D. Hamilton; three sisters, Dorothy Lewis, Evas Lique and Olive Murphy; and three brothers, George, James and Harold Taylor.

Carl R. Swinyer
Carl R. Swinyer, 68, died Saturday, Dec. 23, 2000, upon arrival to the Rutland Regional Medical Center.
He was born Sept. 9, 1932, in Burlington, the son of Harold and Jessie (Place) Swinyer.
He was a veteran of the Korean War who served with the U.S. Air Force.
Mr. Swinyer was a former manager of the State Liquor Store in Ludlow.
He served as unit commander for the Boy Scouts for many years. He was a member of Rutland VFW Post 648, the Rutland Moose Club and the Knights of Columbus, holding the position of Grand Knight. He was a member of the St. Alphonsus Church and involved in church affairs and the Cursilla Movement.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing and playing cards.
Survivors include his wife Phillis (Thayer) Swinyer of Rutland; a son, Donald Swinyer of Windsor; two daughters, Linda Kentfield of Windsor and Lorie Collins of Corinth, N.H.; a stepdaughter, Darlene Couterr Arsh of Benson; a sister, Beulah Harris of Richmond; and five grandchildren.

A funeral will be held Thursday at St. Alphonsus Church in Pittsford at 11:30 a.m. A reception will follow at St. Alphonsus Hall.

William R. Cornell
PITTSFORD - William R. Cornell, 65, died Sunday, Dec. 24, 2000, at Rutland Regional Medical Center after a battle with cancer.
Mr. Cornell was born Feb. 25, 1935, in Queens, N.Y., the son of Norman and Margaret (Steinbeck) Cornell.
Mr. Cornell served with the U.S. Marine Corps.
He was formerly a grounds maintenance supervisor for the Long Island National Cemetery and Calverton National Cemetery, retiring after more than 30 years of service.
He was a former member of Bellmore Fire Department for 30 years and a former captain of Bellmore Rescue Squad in Bellmore, Long Island, N.Y. Most recently, after relocating to Vermont, he worked in the summer by Rutland Recreation Department.
Survivors include his wife, Jane (Rathjen) Cornell of Pittsford; and a son, Timothy Cornell of Pittsford.
He was predeceased by a son, Billy Cornell, who died in 1982.
Burial will be held at a later date.

FLORENCE - A funeral service for Theodore J. Dido, 70, who died Nov. 30, 2000, in Rutland, will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Pittsford with the Rev. Joseph Romaro, officiating.
Burial will be held at a later date in St. Alphonsus Cemetery.
