ALLEN ROLLO
ENGLEWOOD, Fla. / ENFIELD, N.H.
3/31/2009
Allen Rollo, Dec. 3, 1951 - March 18, 2009. Sometimes, in our lives, we are lucky enough to have known and loved an individual whose strength, dignity, and grace teach us what it means to live a “successful life.” Allen was one such person. He refused to allow adversity to defeat him. He proved that the human spirit is stronger than anything that can happen to it. Many people seemed mystified that it was possible for a quadriplegic to be genuinely happy. Many others knew that this good man, with support, love, and determination, would succeed at living a fulfilled and meaningful life! Allen wanted people to understand that the disabled are “equals, who have a few more challenges!” His favorite saying was, “Don’t sweat the small stuff, and it’s all small stuff.” Even in his final moments in intensive care, Allen amazed the doctors and nurses with his inner peace, calmness, and concern for others. (He amazed me each day for 29 years!)
My deepest gratitude and love goes out to his family - Bob and Barbara Rollo; Stanley, Mary Jean, Sean, Shari, and Sam Rollo (Jacob, Mason, and Jean); all of the extended Rollo families; the Brady family; and all his friends in Vermont and Florida. Thank you for helping to make his life an incredible journey.
To his son, Craig Williams and his wife, Leesa; his son, James Thacker; his daughter, Greta and fiancé, Daniel; his grandchildren: Gavin, Makenzie, Kaitlin, Samantha, Kylee, Rory and Tierra - thank you for many years of celebrating his life and for giving him joy, laughter, pride, and enduring love. Because of those gifts, he felt truly blessed! - His loving wife, Donna Allen requested that there be no traditional funeral services. Contributions may be made to the Christopher Reeve Foundation (for spinal chord injury research).
MARION EDITH ALDRICH CUSHING

4/1/2009
MILTON - Marion Edith Aldrich Cushing, 84 of Milton, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday, March 31, 2009, at her home.

She worked for 25 years at the New England Telephone Company as the night supervisor. In 1978, she was honored as Vermont State Mother of the Year. One of the testimonies given about her was, “She is enduring; survival is a state of mind and liberation is a fact of life. The blows dealt by life seem to have made her stronger in her faith as well as in her person. The abundance of love and respect from her family is the sum total of hers for them.” For our Mother, family was everything, her belief was to do everything with a smile on your face and faith in your heart and trust in God.
She is survived by her children and their spouses: John and Linda Cushing of Milton, Linda and Bruce Barrows of Georgia, Paula and Charles Racine of Pueblo West, Colo., Allen and Carol Cushing of Milton, Sandra and Frank Read of Georgia, Carl and Karen Cushing of Milton, Richard Cushing of Essex, Stephen and Michelle Cushing of Colchester, Terry and Tanya Cushing of Milton, and Theresa and Craig Savoy of Milton. She is also survived by her 59 grandchildren, including spouses; 57 great-grandchildren and counting; her sister, Hazel Kolher of Pennsylvania; and her loving second mother, Athalie Cogswell. She leaves many nieces and nephews, too numerous to mention, however loved just the same. She also leaves behind her well beloved dog, Sweetie. She leaves behind two sisters-in-law, Dot Cushing and Nina Cushing, and their families.
