HARVEY L. ‘BUCK’ BOUDREAU

Harvey L. “Buck” Boudreau, age 72, passed away Monday, March 10, 2008, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans with his family at his side.
He was born in Franklin, Jan. 13, 1936, the son of the late Howard and Bernadette (Perron) Boudreau.
Harvey was a lifelong resident of Franklin and a 1954 graduate of Franklin High School. Following high school he entered the service serving with the U.S. Army as a paratrooper. His working career started with a local milk route, and in his spare time working in the woods logging. Finally working many years as a heavy equipment operator for Ralph Goodrich and was always complimented in his expertise of excavation.
Harvey was a fan of all sports and enjoyed snowmobiling, hunting, fishing, horseback riding, hockey and baseball. He enjoyed playing softball, having played in the Men’s Softball League for Beauregard Equipment for many years. He also enjoyed going to Maine deer hunting, watching the Red Sox and NASCAR, and most of all watching his family and friends play sports and could always be seen and heard from the sidelines routing for his favorite team.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Sally (Abell) Boudreau of Franklin; his children, Robin Boudreau and his wife, Ann, of Phoenix, Ariz., Julie Belisle of Swanton, Jamie Boudreau and his wife, Stacey, of Franklin, and Jackie Holloway and her husband, Mark, of Dover, N.H.; six grandchildren, Chris Boudreau, Aimee Boudreau, Erica Hubbard, Chelsea Belisle, Jarrett Boudreau, and Hannah Boudreau; six great-grandchildren, Halle Boudreau, Justus Boudreau, Trey Martin, Gavin Hubbard, Ava Hubbard, Kole Greeno; his brothers, Carroll Boudreau and his wife, Norma, of Sheldon Springs, and Richard Boudreau and his wife, Joyce, of Franklin; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Alfred Boudreau.
A Memorial Service will be held Friday, March 14, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls, with Reverend Rich O’Donnell officiating. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Thursday evening from 6 to 8 p.m.

IAN EDWARD BISER

Ian E. Biser, infant son of George Edward and Jennifer (Thomas) Biser IV, passed away unexpectedly from natural causes, early Saturday, March 15, 2008, at the Summit Hospital. He was born in Columbus, Ga. on March 3, 2008.
Survivors include his parents, George and Jennifer of Smiths, Ala.; his three brothers, Devon Bushey and Parker and Tyler Forsyth; his sisters, Abbigail and Emily Biser; his maternal grandparents, Richard and Beth Thomas of St. Albans; his paternal grandparents, George and Wanda Biser Jr. of Hemingway, S.C.; his maternal great-grandmother, Eunice Lucas Church and her husband, Earl of Sarasota, Fla.; his paternal great-grandmothers, Claire Nelson of Needmore, Pa. and Mable Ann Biser of Frederick, Md.; his aunts, Angela Cassidy and her husband, Corey, Janis Tuner, Sara Biser and Clara “Joie” Adams; his uncle, Dustin Biser; and several cousins. Ian was preceded in death by his brother, Ethan E. Biser; his maternal-great grandparents, Frederick and Jean Thomas Jr.; his maternal great-grandfather, Richard C. Lucas; his paternal grandfather, Kent Boucher; and his paternal great-grandfathers, George Biser Sr. and John Nelson.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, March 22, 2008, at 1 p.m. at the Heald Funeral Home in St. Albans. The Reverend Judy Steger Kennedy, pastor of the First Congregational Church, officiated. Interment will be this spring in the Biser family lot in Greenwood cemetery.
Memorial contributions in Ian’s name may be sent to his grandfather, Richard Thomas, 5 Calo Court, St. Albans, Vt. 05478, to be used for a SIDS program in Alabama.
ROBERT O. BULL, JR.
Colchester

Robert O. Bull Jr., 52, passed away unexpectedly on Easter Sunday, March 23, 2008, at his home in Colchester. He was born in North Ferrisburg, Vt. on June 30, 1955, the son of Robert O. Bull and Phyllis (Beaucage) Kennison.
At the time of his death, Robert was a member of the team at the Ground Round Restaurant in South Burlington. He was not only an employee, he was both a friend and father figure to all of the staff. His friendly presence and generous heart will never be forgotten.
Survivors include his mother, Phyllis Kennison of St. Albans; his father, Robert Bull Sr. of Shelby, Ohio; his son, Joseph Bull of Burlington; his daughter, Sarah Bull of St. Albans; a granddaughter; his half sisters, Tina Elliott of Swanton and Jane Gaudette of St. Albans; his half brothers, Mark Kennison of St. Albans, Kenny Kennison of Highgate, Leon Kennison and Danny Kennison, both of St. Albans; his longtime companion, Marsha Owen of Colchester; and several nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, March 28, 2008, at 11 a.m. in the Heald Funeral Chapel, 87 South Main St., St. Albans, with the Reverend Maurice J. Roy, pastor of Holy Angels Parish, officiating. Robert’s family will receive friends at the funeral home on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will follow in the family lot in Mt. Calvary cemetery.
EVELYN MARY HORR
Fairfax

Evelyn Mary Slattery Horr, 90, passed from our community of Fairfax on March 23, 2008, following a brief illness. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on May 6, 1917, the daughter of Evelyn Veronica Derry Slattery and Robert Joseph Slattery.
Evelyn spent most of her childhood in Brooklyn, and after graduating from school at Bay Ridge High, she went on to work for the Stokes Coal Company. On Jan. 17, 1941, Evelyn and Arthur Horr of Craigville, N.Y. were married in Brooklyn. They later moved to New Jersey, where she raised her four children with her husband Arthur. They retired to Vermont in 1980. Evelyn and Arthur were married for 61 years, prior to his passing on April 17, 2002.
Throughout her life, Evelyn participated in various activities, including volunteer work with the hospital and teaching religious education. She always enjoyed baking and cooking, as well as completing the daily crossword puzzle and spending time with her flowers and reading.
Evelyn was an active member of St. Luke’s Church of Fairfax, and The Fairfax Friendly Neighbor Senior Citizens of Fairfax.
She is survived, and always remembered, by her sister, Gloria Slattery of South Burlington; and her four children, Robert Horr and his wife, Sharon, of Fairfax, William Horr and his wife, Mary, of Tulsa, Okla., Adele Hayes and her husband, James, of Warnerville, N.Y., and Andrew Horr of Fairfax; 10 grandchildren: Kelly Horr Mills, Brett Horr, Robynn Moore, Sean and Shannon Hayes, Rebecca, Daniel, and Megan Horr, Amanda Lavigne, Carrie Horr; and five great-grandchildren: Tre Thierry, David and Jared Mills, and Saoirse and Ula Hayes Hooper; her sister-in-law, Ruth Downing of Bradenton, Fla.; and her beloved partner and protector, Mac, her dog.
A memorial service will be celebrated on April 4, at 10 a.m. in St. Luke’s Catholic Church, Huntville Road, Fairfax, with a private family gathering after the service. There will be no viewing or visiting hours.

Evelyn will be greatly missed by those who knew her, especially her family.
CLEMENT C. ‘JACK’ HAMELLE

Clement C. “Jack” Hamelle, 79, a resident of Swanton for the past 23 years and prior to that of Burlington and Westford, died Monday evening, March 24, 2008, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans following a long illness.
Born in Burlington, Jan. 27, 1929, the son of Clement Gregory and Helen (Turner) Hamelle, Jack was a graduate of Cathedral High School and attended St. Michael’s College. On Aug. 7, 1950, he married the former Barbara Irene Bruce, who survives him.
Jack will be remembered for his vision and entrepreneurial spirit in business. After attending St. Michael’s he began his long career in retail when he joined the staff of his father’s store, Shepard and Hamelle on Church Street in Burlington. He later assumed ownership of the well-known men’s shop and ran it for many years until he sold it in 1978. Among his many other business ventures, Jack owned the Children’s Shop, also on Church Street, and was the creator and co-owner of Jeans North, one of the country’s first jean boutiques with several locations in Vermont and New York. He served on the board of directors of the National Assn. of Menswear Buyers, was President of the Champlain Valley Assn. of Retarded Citizens in 1968 and was a member of the Elks Club and the Ethan Allen Club, both of Burlington. During his years in Swanton, Jack was a communicant of the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
An outdoor enthusiast, Jack was an excellent skier, enjoyed hunting and fishing and spending time on Lake Champlain. He enjoyed preparing gourmet meals for his friends and family.
Over the past 20 years, having developed a passion for antiques, Jack had become an avid collector and dealer of antique postcards.
In addition to his devoted wife, Barbara, Jack leaves four daughters and three sons-in-law: Kathleen Suzanne and Stephen Ferland of North Andover, Mass., Debra Anne and Karl Zielinski of Manchester, Conn., Linda Jane and Walter J. Rayta III of South Burlington and Susan Joan Hamelle of Milton, and three grandchildren: Lauren Ferland of Malden, Mass., Christopher Ferland of Derry, N.H., and Krista Zielinski of Swanzey, N.H. In addition to his parents, Jack was predeceased by his grandson, Adam Zielinski, in 2002.
The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 28, 2008 at 11 a.m. from the Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Swanton. The celebrant and homilist will be Father Charles H. Ranges, SSE. Interment will follow in the family lot in Resurrection Park cemetery in South Burlington. Friends may call at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton, on Friday morning, prior to the funeral, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday, March 25, 2008, at 11 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Father Charles H. Ranges, SSE, was the celebrant and homilist. Imelda and John Tougas served as Ministers of the Altar. Music was provided by organist and soloist, Mary Jo Gillilan.
A large guard of honor was formed by members of the American Legion, Green Mountain Post 1 of St. Albans. The White Funeral Pall was draped over Dr. Stimets casket by his children, Warren Stimets, Marchia Metivier, Wendy Stimets-Henderson and Glenn Stimets. His wife, Helen Stimets, then placed the crucifix. The Old Testament Reading was proclaimed by Warren Stimets and The New Testament Reading by Glenn Stimets. The Offertory Gifts were presented by Warren, Marchia, Wendy and Glenn with General Intercessions being read by grandson, Kyle Kubas. Following communion, Special Words of Remembrance were shared by Wendy Stimets-Henderson.

The Rite of Committal and Interment followed in the Stimets family lot in St. Mary’s cemetery with Father Ranges reading the committal prayers. The Honorary Bearers were Bruce Spaulding, Dexter Spaulding, Troy Spaulding, James Hakey, Ricky Rushlow, Kenneth Rushlow, Dr. O.L. Dugan, Dr. Thomas Howrigan and Dr. Christian Thomas. The Active Bearers were all grandchildren, Jon Stimets, Justin Stimets, Jason Metivier, Lindsey Metivier, Kyle Kubas and Kasey Kubas.
Full Military Honors were accorded the deceased by members of the Vermont Air National Guard, Honor Guard Team. Officer in Charge was MSG Scott Robbins. Members of the Firing Party were SSG Eric Robbins, SSG Katherine Evans and SSG Rochelle Eddy. The American flag was folded by SSG Eddy and presented to Dr. Stimets’ grandson, 1st LT Justin Stimets, U.S. Air Force, who then presented the flag to his grandmother, Mrs. Helen Stimets. Taps were sounded by SSG Katherine Evans.
Following The Prayers of Committal, a reception was held for family and friends in the Nativity Parish Center hosted by the Mrs. Polly Pare and the Ladies of St. Anne.
JANE B. MACHIA

Jane B. Machia, age 79, died unexpectedly early Tuesday morning, April 8, 2008, shortly after arrival at the Northwestern Medical Center. She was born in St. Albans, July 23, 1928, daughter of the late Albert and Mary (Cota) Getty.
Jane was a lifelong communicant of Holy Angels Church and was employed at Union Carbide Consumer Products for over 29 years.
Her survivors include her three nephews: James and his wife, Ann Getty, of Georgia, Russell and his wife, Theresa Getty, of Sheldon, Dennis Getty of Fletcher; several grand nieces and nephews; many close friends, some of whom are Richard Gadue, Pauline Helias, Janet Silk and Gerard Patenaude. Jane was predeceased by her parents and her brother Bertrand Getty.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, April 10, 2008, at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Church. There will be no public calling hours. Interment will be with her parents in the Getty family lot in St. Louis cemetery in Highgate Center.
Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, in her memory.

There will be a celebration of the life of Debby Mills McKim on April 12, between 1 and 4 p.m.
Debby and her family were long-term residents of St. Albans. She passed away last November at her home in Florida.
The memorial will be hosted at the home of Mr. and Mrs. David Powell at their home at 10 Ward Terrace in St. Albans. Friends of Debby and her family are invited to stop by during this period of time to remember her life with her friends and family.

Funeral services were held Sunday, April 6, 2008, at the Franklin United Church with Pastor Jason McConnell officiating. Pianist was Jennifer McConnell playing “Amazing Grace” and “Faith of Our Fathers.” Words of remembrance and stories were shared by many of those in attendance.
Interment followed in the Pierce family lot at the Franklin Village cemetery. Casket Bearers were Mr. Pierce’s daughter, Jennifer Pierce, her companion, Robert Payne, nephew, Philip Bouchard, neighbors and family friends, George Godin, Serge Dandurand and Ivan Dandurand. Following funeral services, the Franklin Church community held a gathering at the Franklin Homestead FELCO Room.
Spears Funeral Home in Enosburg Falls assisted Mr. Pierce’s family with arrangements.
