MARGARET ALICE CROWE KIMBALL
Largely attended funeral services for Margaret Alice Crowe Kimball, who passed away on Friday, Oct. 27, 2006, were held on Wednesday, Nov. 1, 2006, at 1 p.m. in the Sheldon United Methodist Church with family friend, John Gorton, officiating. Music was provided by organist, Kathy Gorton and the Sheldon United Methodist Church Choir.

Special music, “Talk about Suffering,” “I am a Pilgrim,” “Angel Band” and “Will the Circle Be Unbroken” were by the Missisquoi River Band. Margaret’s niece, Toni Clark sang, “His Eye is in the Sparrow.” The Holy Scriptures were proclaimed by Margaret’s grandchildren, Caleb Bronz, Ellen Repstad, Rachel Repstad and Arica Bronz. Family remembrances were shared by grandchildren, Caleb Bronz, Arica Bronz and Rachel Repstad. Several others in attendance also shared fond memories of Margaret.

In attendance was representation from the Sheldon United Methodist Church, Northwestern Medical Center, Indigo Salon, Economic Advantage Corporation, Clarence Brown, Inc., St. Anthony’s Parish of Sheldon and many Sheldon neighbors.

Casket bearers were Margaret’s grandchildren, Rachel Repstad, Ellen Repstad, Sarah Godin Biggie, Brad Biggie, Arica Bronz, Sam Russo, Caleb Bronz and Cory Woolsey.

Following Prayers of Committal by John Gorton, interment took place in the Kimball family lot in Sheldon Village cemetery. A luncheon followed at the home of Margaret’s daughter, Diane and Tom Repstad hosted by the family and friends. Assisting Margaret’s family is the Heald Funeral Home of St. Albans.

DOROTHY LONGLEY MERCY
RICHFORD - Dorothy Longley Mercy, 97, a resident of Richford, died on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006, at Genesis Elder Care Center in Morrisville, Vt.

Dorothy was born on Dec. 31, 1908, in Richford to Homer and Nellie (Sweat) Longley. Her parents died when she was young and Dorothy was raised by Louis and Agnes Longley, who she considered her parents. She was married to Alton “Pete” Mercy for over 50 years. He predeceased her in 1983.

Dorothy was a devoted homemaker, loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She loved animals, bingo, cards, fishing and meeting people. She felt everyone was a friend.

Surviving are her son Richard and his wife, Lorraine Mercy of Franklin; a foster son Peter Upton of White River Junction; her grandson Jeffrey Mercy of Clinton, MI; granddaughter Tammy and her husband, Robert Palmer of Kearneysville, W.V.; three great-grandchildren, J’Nice Palmer, Samantha and Haley Mercy; and several nephews and nieces.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006, at 11 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church in Richford. Interment will follow at All Saints cemetery in Richford. Friends are invited to call at the Spears Funeral Home in Richford on Friday from 4 to 7 p.m.

Should friends desire, gifts in Dorothy’s memory may be made to the Richford High School Athletic Department, c/o Jane Fletcher, Richford High School, Richford, Vt. 05476.

THOMAS DALE YEARMAN, SR.
ST. ALBANS - Thomas Dale Yearman Sr., 69, passed away late Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006, at the Northwestern Medical Center with his loving family at his side. He was born in Baraboo, Wis. on March 18, 1937, to John and Alda (Beaver) Yearman. On Sept. 13, 1965, in St. John’s Newfoundland, he married Mary Sylvia Curnew, who survives him.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time by the Heald Funeral Home of St. Albans.

GEORGE WYMON SUMNER, JR. D.V.M.
ENOSBURG FALLS - George Wymon Sumner Jr. D.V.M., a longtime Enosburg veterinarian, died on Tuesday morning, Oct. 31, 2006, at Haven Health Care in St. Albans.

Dr. Sumner was born in Topsham, Vt., the son of George Wymon and Bertha (Parrish) Sumner. He was a graduate of the University of Vermont and Cornell University and had practiced veterinary medicine for over 50 years in Enosburg. Dr. Sumner was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Enosburg Falls and sang in the church choir.

Surviving are Dr. Sumner’s beloved wife Virginia (Markowski) Sumner of Enosburg Falls; nieces Natalie Maxwell of The Villages, Fla., Judith Williams of Conway, N.H. and Marion Schofield of New Jersey; nephews John Vogel and James Vogel, both of Florida; and his brother-in-law Seslof Markowski of Enosburg Falls.

Funeral services for Dr. Sumner will be held on Friday, Nov. 3, 2006, at 11 a.m. at the United Methodist Church in Enosburg Falls. Interment will follow in the Missisquoi cemetery in Enosburg Falls. Friends are invited to call at the Spears Funeral Home in Enosburg Falls on Thursday from 1 to 2 and 7 to 8 p.m.

Should friends desire, gifts in Dr. Sumner’s memory may be made to the United Methodist Church in Enosburg, P.O. Box 355, Enosburg Falls, Vt. 05450.

HOWARD KENNETH BOHANNON
ALBURGH - A Funeral Service was held Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2006, at 11 a.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home. The Reverend Doctor John C. Kehoe, pastor of the Union Bible Church officiated.

Among the delegations in attendance were representatives from the Franklin County Rehab Center, Cianbro, Christopher’s Advertising, Vermont House of Representatives and Alburgh Volunteer Fire Department and Rescue.

The Prayers of Committal and Interment followed at the Bohannon family lot in Bush cemetery with Doctor Kehoe reading the committal prayers. The Bearers were Stephen Lamothe, J.P. Ladd, David Mills, Robert Bohannon, David Bohannon, Clem Tremblay, Lloyd Collins and Myron Collins.

Following the services a reception for family and friends was hosted at the home of Howard’s sister and brother-in-law, Grace and Earle Collins.

BARBARA L. LOVELETTE
RICHFORD - Funeral services for Mrs. Barbara L. Lovelette of Richford were held on Tuesday afternoon at the Berkshire Center Second Congregational Church. Pastor Lyle Willey officiated and Rod Sanborn provided piano accompaniment as the congregation joined together in singing “What A Friend We Have In Jesus” and “Amazing Grace.”

Interment followed at the Berkshire Center cemetery where Pastor Willey conducted the committal service. Serving as pallbearers were Mrs. Lovelette’s grandson Christopher Lovelette, nephews John Cluba, Frank Cluba and Tim Stanhope, grandson-in-law Chad Bapp and Brian Deuso.

Mrs. Lovelette, a resident of Harlem Street in Richford and wife of Frederick Lovelette, died on Saturday, Oct. 28, at her home at the age of 82.
The Spears Funeral Home in Richford assisted the Lovelette family with service arrangements.

Mrs. Ayter Gursoz passed away peacefully at the age of 72 at the CHSLC in Bedford, Quebec, on the 22nd of February 2008, after fighting a courageous battle against lung cancer for over six years.

She has left behind her daughter, Irem Bekter; and her granddaughter, Bianca Maidana.

She will be remembered for her enormous talent as a renowned international painter who has been residing in the Eastern Townships region since 1995.

She has left something beautiful in all of us, just like her paintings.

We will all miss her.

On the afternoon of Tuesday, Feb. 26, as the snow fell, our beloved Gail left this world and moved on to a much better place. Our Angel has her wings! Gail was born Feb. 28, 1941, in Newport, N.H., the daughter of Alfreda Couitt and the late Zeke Beyor, and lived currently in Charlestown, N.H. She was the firstborn of 10 children for Alfreda and very proud of her Native American heritage.

In addition to being a loyal, loving daughter and sister, Gail was a proud mother and grandmother. Her accomplishments in life were many but she was most grateful for her family. Her family will remember her for the love, strength and joy she brought to each and every one of us. Friends will remember her for her support, her huge heart and her guidance. She was blessed with an amazing singing voice and she performed for many years in this area singing with her band “Gail and The Country Gentlemen.” In the late 70s, she was named the Top Female Vocalist in the Eastern States. With her beautiful voice, she raised money for many local people in need by organizing and performing at numerous benefit shows throughout the area. Gail also lived in Highgate Springs, and attended school in Highgate Springs, as a young girl.

Gail lived life to the fullest and enriched the lives of everyone who was fortunate enough to have known her. She touched so many people and their lives would not be the same without her for having been a part of them.

Her loving children include her son, Maurice Fazekas of Claremont; and her two daughters, Debra Harlen of Claremont and Annmarie Serem of Simpsonville, S.C.; three grandchildren: Tyler Patten of Simpsonville, S.C., and Cassandra and David Brooks of Claremont. In addition, her mother, Alfreda Couitt; three brothers: Robert Couitt, Richard Couitt and Philip Couitt, all of Claremont; four sisters: Brenda Beebe of Springfield, Vt., Debra Couitt and Cathy Paradis of Claremont, and Bonnie Gales of Lempster survive her. She will also be deeply missed by many nieces,

nephews and cousins, especially her cousin and dear friend, Sandra Gerrow of Highgate Springs, Vt., and her dear friend, Maryann Purple of Charlestown. Her furry friends that she loved so dearly, Sweetpea, Ginger, PJ, and Precious, also survive Gail. In addition to her father Zeke, Gail was predeceased by an infant son, Scottie; and two brothers, Jack Beyor and Edward Couitt.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 1, 2008, at 2 p.m. in the Stringer Funeral Home, 146 Broad St., Claremont, N.H., with Deacon Paul Boucher, of St Mary’s Church, officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home from 1 to 2 p.m., prior to the service. Interment will follow in St. Mary’s cemetery.

Carol Ann Savage, 65, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, Feb. 27, 2008.

Carol was born in New Haven, Conn. on Feb. 25, 1943, the daughter of Edward P. and Claire Bernadette (Jirouard) Hart.

She was married to Roger Savage, who predeceased her on Jan. 8, 2005.

Carol enjoyed doing puzzles, reading and fishing. She also took great pride and joy in her grandchildren.

She will be dearly missed by her children Roberta (Chaplin) Cota of Montgomery, Cindy (Chaplin) and Jim Legault of Fairfax, David and Kathy Chaplin of Fairfax, John Chaplin and Richard Chaplin, both of East Fairfield, and Tanya (Chaplin) Johnson and her husband, Brian, of West Swanton; by her grandchildren, Ashley, Whitney and Hazen Cota, David and Travis Chaplin, Brent Legault, Desiree Underwood, David, Chantal and Liz Chaplin, Kyle Sauseville, Jessica and Jordan Chaplin, Dakota and Kayla Rockwell, and Abigail Johnson; by her great-granddaughter, Alyssa Chaplin; her brothers and sisters; and her beloved cat, Sheba.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, March 4, 2008, at noon in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton. Burial will be in the family lot in St. Ann’s cemetery in the spring.

Memorial contributions may be made to the family in care of the Minor Funeral Home, P.O. Box 113, Milton, Vt. 05468.

Visiting hours will be held on Tuesday, March 4, from 10 a.m. to noon in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.

ARMAND ‘LEO’ BEGNOCHE

ST. ALBANS - Armand “Leo” Begnoche, 84, passed away at the Franklin County Rehab Center on Thursday, Feb. 28, 2008. He was born in Swanton, Vt. on Dec. 18, 1923, the son of the late Treffle and Columbe (Daigneault) Begnoche.

Leo attended St. Ann’s Academy in Swanton. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy on Dec. 5, 1943, and took his basic training at Davisville, R.I., where he was assigned to the U.S. Navy Construction Battalion. At Williamsburg, Va. he enrolled in Deep Sea diving School and achieved the rank of Diving Instructor. Detached to the 3050th he was sent to Quoddy Village, Maine and assigned to sea patrol duty especially when President Roosevelt visited his summer home. The 3050 Division was sent to the Asiatic Pacific Theater. Leo saw duty in the Philippines with the Naval 7th Fleet in Samara, Maniciani, Okinawa, Leteye Bay, Tsingtao and Peiping China. He received his honorable discharge on March 27, 1946. Leo remained on the active reserve list and was recalled to duty during the Korean Conflict on Aug. 21, 1950, and was assigned to the USS Monetary and later to the USS Midway. He was separated from service on Nov. 30, 1951, at Boston, Mass. Upon Leo’s discharge from the Navy, he was employed at the H.P. Hood milk plant in St. Albans until he left to commence his own business of landscaping and installing swimming pools. Leo installed many of the areas first in-ground swimming pools. He was an ardent snowmobile and four-wheeler enthusiast and made many such excursions throughout Vermont, Quebec, Maine and Michigan. He was a member St. Paul’s United Methodist Church and Green Mountain Post 1, American Legion.

On July 29, 1950, Leo married Elaine Lace, who survives him. He is also survived by his son, Stephen and his fiancée, Debbie Charbonneau; his daughter, Susan and her fiancé, Andre Jette; two grandchildren, Nathan and Natalie Reed; one great-granddaughter, McKenzie Reed; his sisters and brothers-in-laws, Yvette Ouimet, Roland and Clayton Therrien, Juliette and Andrew Guy Ouimet and Lorraine and Ezra Mulheron; a brother, Real Begnoche and his wife, Solange; four sisters-in-law: Marie, Elaine, Jeanne and Patricia; and several aunts uncle, cousins, nieces and nephews. He will be missed by his faithful companion, Nuisance. Leo was preceded in death by his parents, Treffle and Columbe Begnoche; his infant son, Michael Charles; and his four brothers, Arthur, Romeo, Ronald and Bernard Begnoche.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 3, 2008, at 2 p.m. in St. Paul’s United Methodist Church on Church Street. Interment will follow at the family lot in Riverside cemetery with full military honors. Leo’s family will receive friends on Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St.
