BRAD B. PARKER
HIGHGATE - Brad B. Parker, age 15, died Sunday afternoon, Nov. 5, 2006, from an accidental shooting, near his home. Brad was born in Burlington, Oct. 10, 1991, son of Brian Parker and Nancy Sanders.
He was a freshman at Missisquoi Valley Union High School and was employed in dairy farming on the Paul DellaBruierre Farm. At MVU, Brad was a mentor, on the Track Team and played basketball. Brad enjoyed archery, hunting, fishing and had proudly shot his second deer, in his short life, on Saturday.
Brad is survived by his mother, Nancy and step-father, Todd Oliver of Highgate; his father, Brian Parker and step-mother, Anna Hall of Charlotte; sisters, Brandy Parker, Michelle Oliver and Natalie Oliver, all of Highgate. Also, a brother or sister anticipated next May. He leaves his maternal grandparents, Marge Sanders of Swanton, Dean Sanders and his companion, Honey of Hinesburg; paternal grandparents, Kenneth and Nancy Ruggles of Monkton, Roger Parker Sr. of Panton, Roland and Norma Oliver of St. Albans; great-grandmother, Emma Blackmore of Essex Center; several aunts, uncles and cousins, including special cousins Ryan and Justin Parker; favorite friends Paul Martin of Swanton and John Dufresne of Highgate Springs.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1 p.m. in Missisquoi Valley Union gym. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., St. Albans, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will follow the funeral in the Parker/Oliver family lot in St. Louis cemetery in Highgate Center.

JOHN F. MAYNARD
ST. ALBANS - A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Mr. John F. Maynard, Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Church. Father W. Andre Houle was the celebrant.
John’s lifelong friend, St. Mary’s schoolmate and military buddy, Deacon Jack Rixon, read the Gospel and proclaimed his homily. Rose Rixon read the Holy Scripture Lessons. Cecile Kenyon Asbell was the organist and soloist.
Attending were many parishioners of St. Mary’s Church. Interment was in Winston-Salem, N.C.
BERNARD L. MOREAU
ST. ALBANS / HIGHGATE - Mr. Bernard L. Moreau passed away on Friday, Nov. 3, 2006, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born in Swanton, Vt. on June 11, 1938, the son of the late Joseph and Marie-Anna (Remillard) Moreau.
Bernie will be remembered for his helping hand to many and his ability to fix anything. After a long career with R.L. Vallee, Inc. and Ultramar, he retired in December of 2000 and was responsible for taking care of the grounds for his condo association.
Survivors include his wife of 42 years, Margaret; his two sons, Scott and Jeffrey, and Jeff’s wife, Heather Moreau, and their daughter, Katelynn, who was the light of his life; his brother, Armand Moreau; his sister, Germaine Lapierre; his brother-in-laws: Raymond Patenaude, Carlton Bushey, and Jim Fitzgerald; and his sisters-in-law: Yvonne, Muriel and Jeannette Moreau, Patricia Holland, Janice Bushey, Esther Fitzgerald, and Linda Hobb; along with several cousins, nieces, and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bernie was predeceased by his brothers: Leo, Alcide and Raymond Moreau; his sister, Sylvia Patenaude; his brothers-in-law, Marcel Lapierre and James Holland; and his sister-in-law, Pauline Moreau.
Bernie’s family would like to express a sincere thank you to the following care providers: Dr. Bruce Tranmer, Dr. Ned Shulman, Dr. Steven Grunberg, and the staff of Franklin County Rehab Center for the care that Bernie received during his illness.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006, at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Catholic Church on Lake Street. Private interment will follow in the family lot in Mount Calvary cemetery. There will be no public visitation.

DARWIN R. LaCROSS
Darwin R. LaCross, formerly of Enosburg, passed away at his McReynolds Road home in North Danville, Saturday evening, Nov. 4, 2006, at the age of 66. He was born in Enosburg on Aug. 22, 1940, the son of Victor and Hazel (Stanley) LaCross.
Darwin was a man of many talents. In the 1960s he owned and operated Darwin’s Gulf Station on Main Street in Enosburg. Later he owned and operated Darwin’s Lime Service, liming area farms. He also logged. Through his business connections with the McReynolds fertilizer business, he became good friends with Buck and Martha and relocated to North Danville in the late 1980s / early 1990s.
His family reflects Darwin enjoyed people and loved life: hunting and fishing, gardening, and especially going to auctions where the wheeler/dealer in him shined through. For several winters he went to Texas and stayed with his sister Betty. There he came to love salsa sauce; he’d bring north some 150-200 cases, some of which he peddled in area stores, and lot of which he enjoyed just giving away. He was a member of Moose Lodge 1779.
He is survived by his companion, Sheila Otis of North Danville (1479 McReynolds Rd. Danville 05828); and Sheila’s extended family; three children: Douglas R. LaCross and wife Sonja of Richford, Laurie L. Fournier and husband John of Enosburg Falls, Carole A. Dwyer and husband Douglas of Coventry, R.I.; seven grandchildren: Kelsey and Chris; Arvis, Ben, and Julie; Stacey and Kelly; one great-granddaughter Vanessa; three brothers: Kent LaCross, Leroy LaCross and wife Trish, Vaughn LaCross; three sisters: Nathalie Morin, Betty Cather, and Dale Machia. He was predeceased by a brother, Victor Jr.; and a sister, Wanita Larose.
Funeral services will be held in North Danville, Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the North Danville Baptist Church with the pastor, The Rev. Robert H. Sargent, officiating. Burial will follow at the Pope cemetery right near the home he came to love. Visiting hours will be held at the Sayles Funeral Home, Tuesday, 5 to 8 p.m.

GERALD THOMAS ‘JERRY’ MITCHELL
ALBURGH VILLAGE - The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, Nov. 4, 2006, at 11:30 a.m. from St. Amadeus Roman Catholic Church. Father Maurice U. Boucher, SSE was the celebrant and homilist. Concelebrating priests were Father Maurice J. Roy and Father Daniel Lokanga, both of Holy Angels Parish, St. Albans and Ascension Parish, Georgia. Assisting Deacons were The Reverend Mr. Duane Langlois, (Jerry’s brother-in-law), and The Reverend Mr. Alan Vincelette. Mrs. Beth Savage and Mr. Ulice Gaudette served as Ministers of the Altar. Also in attendance was The Reverend Doctor John C. Keogh, pastor of the Alburgh Union Bible Church. Music was provided by soloist, Maurice Gauthier accompanied by organist, Carol Pellerin.
The White Funeral Pall was draped over Jerry’s casket by nieces, Shari Langlois and Elena Cameron, as well as nephew, Colby Langlois. The Crucifix was then placed by his wife Estelle. The Old Testament Reading was proclaimed by Shari Langlois and The New Testament Reading by Elena Cameron. The Offertory Gifts were presented by Jerry’s sister, Diane Langlois, niece, Elena Cameron and great nephew, Elijah Cameron. Following communion Deacon Langlois offered Special Words of Remembrance.
Among the delegations in attendance were representatives from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Burlington, Woodman of America, Knights of Columbus, Irick’s Excavating, Jeff’s Maine Seafood, Kay’s Restaurant, IBM, Coldwell Banker - Island Realty, Alburgh Town and Village Offices and the parish communities of St. Amadeus and St. Joseph’s Mission.
The Rite of Committal and Interment followed at the Mitchell family lot in St. Amadeus cemetery with Father Boucher assisted by Deacon Vincelette reading the committal prayers. The bearers were David Lounsbury, Christopher Cameron, Colby Langlois, Harry Mitchell, Al Mitchell, Jimmy Tierney and Donny Cook.
Following The Prayers of Committal a luncheon reception for family and friends was served in the St. Amadeus Parish Center hosted by Maurice Gauthier. During the Friday evening visitation a Vigil Service was led by Father Boucher assisted by Father Roy and Deacons Duane Langlois, Alan Vincelette, Jeffrey Kehoe and John Rixon.

CASTLETON - Anna “Ann” Beauregard, 61 of Castleton and formerly of St. Albans, died unexpectedly Thursday morning, Nov. 2, 2006, in San Diego, Calif. while attending a conference.

THOMAS DALE YEARMAN, SR.
ST. ALBANS - Thomas Dale Yearman Sr., 69, passed away late Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006, at the Northwestern Medical Center with his loving family at his side. He was born in Baraboo, Wis. on March 18, 1937, to John and Alda (Beaver) Yearman. On Sept. 13, 1965, in St. John’s Newfoundland, he married Mary Sylvia Curnew, who survives him.
Tom was a retired SMSGT with the Vermont National Guard. He was a communicant of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, having served with the Church School and as a Vestry Member. He had also been involved with the Kiros Prison Ministry. Tom was an active member of Haswell Lodge 39, F.&A.M. of Sheldon, Vt., Mount Mansfield Lodge 26, F.&A.M. in Jericho, Vt. and York Rite Bodies of St. Albans, Vt. He was also a member of Green Mountain Post 1, American Legion.
Leaves to mourn, his loving wife and best friend, Sylvia; two sons, Thomas Yearman Jr. and Timothy; a daughter; Tonya Tippett; three granddaughters, Heather, Samantha and Danielle; his brothers and sisters, John and Carol, James and Nancy, Kenneth and Diane, Judy, Joyce Provost and Bridgette Yearman; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Marion Rideout, Linda Curnew, David Curnew, Vera and Harvey Goodyear, Susie and Robert Barter and Ernest and Mabel Curnew; and a large number of nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to his parents, Tom was predeceased by a sister, Marjorie; and a brother, Don.
The Burial Office and Holy Communion will be celebrated on Monday, Nov. 6, 2006, at 11 a.m. in St. Luke’s Episcopal Church on Church Street by the Reverend Dennis E. Hayward. There will be no public visitation.

GERALD THOMAS ‘JERRY’ MITCHELL
ALBURGH VILLAGE - Mr. Gerald “Jerry” Mitchell, age 67 years, died late Wednesday evening, Nov. 1, 2006, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans City with family by his side.
Born in Burlington, Vt. on June 7, 1939, he was the son of the late Stanley Rueben and Eleanor Rachel (LaBombard) Mitchell. He graduated from the former Alburgh High School and attended Champlain College in Burlington, Vt. On June 7, 1969, he was married to the former Estelle Charron, who survives him.
Jerry was associated for many years in Inventory Control with the IBM Corporation of Essex Junction. He was a lifelong parishioner of St. Amadeus Roman Catholic Church and a Third Degree Member of the Alburgh Council of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed duck hunting, bowling, pool, and playing cards especially cribbage. Several years ago he was the winner of the Vermont State Cribbage Championship.
In addition to his wife Estelle of 37 years, Jerry leaves his sister, Diane and her husband, The Reverend Mr. Duane Langlois of St. Albans Town; two nieces, Shari Langlois and her husband, David Lounsbury of Fairfax and Elena Cameron and her husband, Christopher of Alburgh; one nephew, Colby Langlois of St. Albans Town; and a brother-in-law, Andre Charron of Ste. Valentine, Quebec Canada; as well as several additional great nieces and nephews.

DR. FREDERICK W. ‘SANDY’ CAMPBELL, JR., M.D.
GEORGIA - On Oct. 31, 2006, Dr. Frederick W. ‘Sandy’ Campbell Jr., M.D., age 81, died peacefully in Burlington, Vt. following a short illness, surrounded by his beloved wife and sons.
Sandy Campbell was a tireless and selfless healer and humanitarian, cheering and charming the lives of countless patients and community members during a long and respected career as a general surgeon and trauma care physician. Since 1969 he had made his home in Georgia, Vt. and had practiced medicine in nearby St. Albans.
Sandy was born in Detroit and raised in Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich. He served in the Canadian Infantry in World War II. He graduated from the Hotchkiss School, Yale University, and Cornell University Medical College. His career and life found him settled in the Detroit and Minneapolis metropolitan areas as well as Toronto and Collingwood Ontario, Canada before he made his final home in Vermont. He made a second home on Narrows Island on Lake Temagami Ontario, where he spent most of his summers. He was a self-taught and experienced civil engineer by avocation, having designed and built with his own hands various of his residences, his own live steam railroad, including locomotives and rolling stock, elaborate stone walls, patios and bridge spanning the Mill River which flowed through his property. He was an avid gardener and reader. In all avenues of his life, his projects were never truly transformed into accomplishments until he could give and share them with his friends and relations.
Sandy is survived by his wife of 43 years, Margaret Gaffran Campbell, also of Georgia, Vt.; his sister Mary Elizabeth Abeles of Lexington, Mass.; and his three sons: Dr. Frederick W. Campbell III, M.D. of Traverse City, Mich., William Y. Campbell of Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich. and Ian E. Campbell of Cambridge, Vt.; as well as seven grandchildren, one great-grandchild; and cousins, nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his daughter Susan D. Campbell, Esq. of Baltimore, Md.
A celebration of his life will be held on Sunday, Nov. 5, at 2 p.m. at the First Unitarian Universalist Society of Burlington, 152 Pearl St., Burlington, Vt.

JOHN FRANCIS MENARD
Mr. John Francis Menard, 76, passed away Oct. 18, 2006, at his residence. He was born in Franklin County, Vt. to the late Everett and Ellen Ward Menard.
Mr. Menard graduated from St. Mary's Catholic High School and St. Michael's College. He retired in 1993 after 30 years of service with The Department of U.S. Customs.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Ward Menard and a sister, Lois. Mr. Menard is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Erlene W. Menard, of Winston-Salem, N.C.; five children, Jacqueline Ouellet, David Ouellet, Catherine Menard, Frank Menard, and Stephen Menard; three grandchildren, Allison, Jacqueline, and John; a sister, Jeanette Bombardier; a sister-in-law, June Menard; and his loving cat, "Pita."

ROGER H. GRATTON
ST. ALBANS / WOLCOTT - Mr. Roger H. Gratton, age 47, died unexpectedly Monday, Oct. 30, 2006, due to cardiac and lung complications, at his home in Wolcott. He was born in St. Albans on April 21, 1959, son of Ernest and Helen (Raine) Gratton.
Roger was a graduate of Bellows Free Academy and was employed as a dairy farmer most of his work life. His hobbies included his love of stonewall masonry, finishing auto bodies, hunting and fishing.
Roger is survived by his children Jessica Gratton and Corey Gratton, both of Bakersfield; his parents Helen and Ernest Gratton; his two sisters and their husbands Joanne and David White, and Michelle and Derek Madden, and his nephew Jacob Madden, all of St. Albans. He is also survived by several aunts, uncles, cousins and the mother of his children, Pamela (Boylan) Gratton.
Roger’s family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to Mr. Charlie Allen, whose hospitality and kindnesses assisted Roger in the past six years of his life in Wolcott.
