RUTH MARTELL LAMERE
BURLINGTON - Ruth Martell Lamere, 95, formerly of Grand Isle and Milton, died peacefully Sunday morning, Nov. 12, 2006, in Burlington Health and Rehabilitation Center in Burlington.
Ruth was born Sept. 20, 1911, in Grand Isle, the daughter of Frederick and Bessie Vaughn Martell.
She was employed by Ben Franklin and Lamere’s Newsstand in Burlington.
She was married to Arthur Brown, who predeceased her. She later married Charles F. Lamere, who also predeceased her in the early 1970s.
Ruth was a member of the Arrowhead Seniors Group in Milton as well as the Champlain Valley Area Agency on Aging Milton Meal Site. A member of AARP, she also belonged to the Hillshire Baptist Church.
Ruth is survived by her brother, Robert Martell of Burlington; as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four sisters and four brothers.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2006, at 10 a.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton. Burial will follow in the Grand Isle cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Tuesday, Nov. 14, from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.
ARTHUR C. CURRIER, JR.
EAST RICHFORD –Arthur C. Currier Jr., age 51, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006.
He was born April 11, 1955, in St. Albans, Vt., the son of late, Arthur and Helen (Fiske) Currier.
Arthur was a life long resident of East Richford and was a 1974 graduate of Richford High School. He was formerly employed at Blue Seal Feeds in Richford for several years and had also worked doing custodial work at various U.S. Customs Stations. He loved to fix things and would always find a way to fix something when no one else could. He also loved to ride his four-wheeler, play with his cats and his new birds.
He is survived by his children, Joe`i Mae Jacobs of Enosburg Falls, and Arin Marie Combs of East Fairfield; his grandson, Landis Menard of East Fairfield; his sisters, Georgette & Daniel Safford of Colchester, and Angela & Stephen Tracy of Richford; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by an infant brother, Michael William Currier.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 13, 2006, at 11 a.m. in the Spears Funeral Home, 140 Main St., Richford with Pastor Patrick Hoadley officiating. Interment will follow in the Richford Center cemetery.
A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Monday from 10 a.m. until the funeral.

BRAD B. PARKER
HIGHGATE - A celebration of the life of Brad B. Parker was held at 1 p.m. on Thursday in the Missisquoi Valley Union gymnasium. Father Maurice Roy, pastor of Holy Angels Church in St. Albans and Ascension Church in Georgia, officiated. Mary Jo Gillilan was the organist and soloist. “Misere Nobis” and “Old Irish Blessing” were sung by the members of Missisquoi Valley Union Mastersingers.
The first Holy Scripture reading from Lamentations was proclaimed by Connie Beyor. The second reading, a Letter from Paul to the Corinthians, was proclaimed by Madeline Young.
Words of memory were shared by several, including Brad’s mother Nancy Oliver, Principal of MVU, Chaunce Benedict, and Brad’s employer, Paul DelaBruierre. Paul also shared a poem, “To My Loved Ones” and presented a plaque to Brad’s family, from the St. Albans Co-Operative Creamery members, for the achievements in agriculture Brad so proudly accomplished.
A guard of honor was formed by the School Boards, faculty and staff of Highgate Elementary School and Missisquoi Valley Union High School. Also included in the large attendance were representatives of the MVU Firebirds, MVU Thunderbirds, I.B.M., St. Albans Co-Operative Creamery, DelaBruierre Farm, Ray’s Dies and Tubing, Northern Valley Eyecare, Peerless Clothing, Hannaford Stores, Missisquoi Valley Rescue, Swanton and Highgate Fire Departments, Haven Health Care Center, Dussault Auto Sales, Lake Street Muffler and Brake Shop, Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, Rollo Road neighbors and many friends from Highgate, Franklin and Swanton.
Brad’s casket bearers were Andrew Parker, Chad Parker, Justin Parker, Ryan Parker, John Messier and Eric Oliver.
Following Prayers of Committal by Father Roy, interment was in the Parker/Oliver family lot in St. Louis cemetery. The family and friends then returned to Missisquoi Valley Union School Commons for a lunch reception, hosted by MVU Dietary Staff.
Wednesday afternoon, Father Roy held a Christian Wake Service with the family and friends, and in the evening Paul DelaBruierre shared a poem and The Lord’s Prayer with those attending the visitation in the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.
Brad’s family would like to extend their sincere gratitude for all the compassion and concern extended to them by the MVU staff members, especially Principal Benedict, Father Roy, Paul DelaBruierre and Mary Jo Gillilan.

H. CECILIA DALTON
SWANTON VILLAGE - Mrs. H. Cecilia Dalton, age 98 years, died early Tuesday morning, Nov. 7, 2006, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans City.
A native of Poultney, Vt., Mrs. Dalton has been a resident of Dunning Street in Swanton Village since 1973. She had also lived in St. Albans City from 1948 until moving to Swanton.
Born in Poultney on March 2, 1908, she was the daughter of the late George Henry and Helen (Lawler) Costello. She attended Poultney schools and on March 27, 1932, was married to William F. Dalton, who predeceased her on May 2, 1990.
While living in Poultney she served as librarian for the Poultney Public Library and later as a telephone operator and agent for AT&T. Mrs. Dalton was an accomplished pianist and organist playing in various churches throughout the Poultney and Granville, New York areas. She was also a member of the Auxiliary of the Ancient Order of Hibernians.
In St. Albans she became a parishioner of the Immaculate Conception, (St. Mary’s), Roman Catholic Parish as well as a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court St. Mary and served as their organist. Since living in Swanton she has been a very faithful and devoted member of The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and belonged to the parish Altar Society.
Mrs. Dalton leaves four daughters, Ann Knox of Lexington, Va., Martha Dalton of St. Albans, Helen Collins and her husband, Kevin J. of Saddle River, N.J. and Kathryn Shanahan of Palmer, Ark.; four grandchildren, Kevin D. and his wife, Merri Collins of Ridgewood, N.J., Mary C. and her husband, Doctor David Morales of Sugar Land, Texas, Lee W. and his wife, Charlene Shanahan of Phoenix, Ariz. and Jeremy D. Shanahan of Seattle, Wash.; five great-grandchildren, Dalton and Ryan Collins and Madeleine, David and Adelaide Morales; a nephew, George Costello and his wife, Linda of Essex Junction; and a niece, Kathryn Costello of Poultney.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Dalton was predeceased by two brothers, George E. and Daniel F. Costello.
The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2006, at 10 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 65 Canada St., Swanton Village. Father John J. Meagher, SSE will be the celebrant and homilist. The Rite of Committal and Interment will follow at 3 p.m. at the Dalton family lot in St. Raphael cemetery Poultney with Father Adam J. Krempa officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

LAWRENCE F. ‘BABE’ SLOAN
FLETCHER - Lawrence Francis “Babe” Sloan, 79, passed away at Northwestern Medical Center on Thursday, Nov. 9, 2006. Babe was born on Jan. 12, 1927, and raised in Fletcher, Vt., son of the late Lawrence and Elizabeth (Irish) Sloan.
He served his country well in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Olive Demar on Aug. 17, 1968, in Swanton, Vt. Babe operated a dairy farm on the land he was born and raised on. He was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother. Babe will be greatly missed by all those who had the true pleasure to know and love him.
He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Olive Sloan; his two sons, James Gebo and wife Paula of Fairfield, J. R. Sloan and wife Terry of Fletcher; three daughters, Susan Rooney and husband Chuck of Bolton, Penny Kane and husband Kevin of Fletcher, Lisa Liberty and husband Troy of Richmond; his sister, Ruth Burleson of Fairfax; many cousins, nieces, nephews, including a special nephew, Paul Burleson; 11 grandchildren: Jennifer, James and Michael Gebo, Amanda Rooney, Shannon and Megan Kane, Max, Katie and Derreck Sloan, Rebecca and Corkie Liberty. He was also predeceased by his brother, Alton Sloan; and his sisters, Theresa Young and Mary Fay.
Visiting hours will be held on Sunday, Nov. 12, 2006, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the A. W. Rich Funeral Home - Fairfax Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Monday, Nov. 13, 2006, at 10 a.m. at the United Church of Fairfax with the Reverend Elizabeth Griffin officiating. Inurnment will be held at the convenience of the family.

SANDRA (MacDONALD) STILLMAN
ENGLEWOOD, Fla. - Sandra (MacDonald) Stillman, 68 of Englewood and Naples, Maine, formerly of Milton, Vt., died Thursday, Nov. 2, 2006, at Englewood Community Hospital after a brief illness.
She was born April 9, 1938, in Medford, Mass., to James and Beatrice (Yeomans) MacDonald. She lived in Medford and Winchester, Mass., as well as Loudon, N.H. before moving to Milton in 1981. She was a dispatcher for Milton Fire and Rescue and also worked for Wyeth and Blodgett.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Roger Stillman of Englewood, Fla.; her children - Heather Hayden of Concord, N.H., R. Allyn Stillman of Portsmouth, N.H., Heidi Yetton of Clarksville, Tenn. and J. Scott Stillman of Fairfax, Vt.; 11 grandchildren: Addie and Lucy Stillman of Fairfax, Vt., Caitlin and Cameron Hayden of Concord, N.H., Robert,
Jennifer, Mark and Allyson Stillman of Portsmouth, N.H. and Melissa and Matthew Yetton and Ian Daniels of Clarksville, Tenn., and a great-granddaughter, Aubree Ryder.
There are no services planned. Lemon Bay Funeral Homes, Englewood Chapel, are in charge of arrangements.

BERNARD L. MOREAU
Largely attended funeral services for Bernard L. Moreau, who passed away on Friday, Nov. 3, 2006, were held on Wednesday, Nov. 8, 2006, at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Catholic Church with the Reverend Maurice J. Roy celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Assisting at the altar were Maynard Gosselin and Russell Porwitzky. Music was by guitarist, Gail Perras.
A candle in memory of Bernie was lit by his son, Scott; a floral arrangement was placed on the Urn Ark by his daughter-in-law, Heather. For Bernie’s love of seeing geese flying south for the winter and returning in the spring, a goose statue was presented by his granddaughter, Katelynn. The crucifix was placed on Bernie’s urn by his wife, Margaret. The Holy Scriptures were proclaimed by Bernie’s niece, Kelly Gosselin and by family friend, Joyce Jenkins. The Eucharistic Gifts were presented at the altar by his brother and sister-in-law, James and Esther Fitzgerald. Special words of remembrance were shared by Bernie’s son, Jeffrey and sister-in-law, Linda Hobb.
A large delegation of co-workers from R. L. Vallee, Inc. and Ultramar, Inc. was in attendance. Also in attendance was representation from Franklin-Grand Isle United Way, Franklin County Home Health Agency, Franklin County Rehab Center, the Holiday House, Peoples Trust Company, Vermont Gas Company, St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, St. Albans City Police Department, Northwest Counseling and Support Services, St. Albans Co-Operative Creamery, Franklin County Industrial Development Corporation, Montcalm Real Estate, George S. Wood, Inc., S.B. Collins, Inc., Gosselin Construction Company, and the former office staff and family of Dr. Bernard Boucher.
Following Prayers of Committal by Father Roy, a yellow rose from each family member was placed on Bernie’s urn. Interment took place in the family lot in Mount Calvary cemetery.

THOMAS DALE YEARMAN, SR.
The Burial Office and Holy Communion for Thomas Dale Yearman Sr., who passed away Sunday, Oct. 29, 2006, were celebrated Monday, Nov. 6, 2006, at 11 a.m. in St. Luke’s Episcopal Church with the Reverend Dennis E. Hayward, as officiant and homilist. Participating in the Liturgy were the Reverend Mr. James Ballard, Deacon at St. Luke’s and Canon Stanley H. Irving, former Rector at St. Luke’s. Music was by organist, Donna Costes. Ushers were Richard Lunderville and James Fouts. The Holy Scripture were proclaimed by Tom’s granddaughters, Samantha and Danielle Tippett. Verger was Colin Christie. Words of Remembrance were shared by family friend, Father Irving.
In attendance and forming a Guard of Honor were members from Green Mountain Post 1, American Legion and Robert E. Glidden Post 758, Veterans of Foreign Wars, led by Fred Bliss and the United States Air and Army National Guard, led by Major General Michael Dubie.
Also in attendance was representation from Franklin Lodge 4, F&AM, Haswell Lodge 39, F&AM and Lamoille Lodge 6, F&AM, who were led by District Deputy Grand Master of the 7th Masonic District, Guy Oldenburgh, St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Finn Avenue neighbors and several of his co-workers at the Air Guard.
Following the Final Commendation by Father Hayward, Father Irving and Deacon Ballard, the American flag was presented to Tom’s wife, Sylvia, by Edgar Royer representing the Veterans Organizations. A reception followed hosted by the Ladies of St. Luke’s.

ANNA ‘ANN’ BEAUREGARD
CASTLETON - Anna “Ann” Beauregard, 61 of Castleton and formerly of St. Albans, died unexpectedly Thursday morning, Nov. 2, 2006, in San Diego, Calif. while attending a conference.
She was born on Dec. 3, 1944, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of Ture Alfred and Concetta (Simeone) Larson.
Mrs. Beauregard graduated from the Abraham Lincoln High School, Brooklyn, N.Y. in 1962. Following high school she received her Registered Nurse Degree from the Methodist Hospital of Nursing in Brooklyn, N.Y. in 1965. She received her Bachelors of Arts degree in Adult Education from Trinity College in Burlington.
She had been employed by the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans for over 30 years first as a registered nurse then as the Director of Educating. In 2000 she joined Porter Hospital in Middlebury as the Performance Improvement Manager.
Mrs. Beauregard was a longtime entrepreneur with business in catering, retail, legal nurse consultant and heath care education.
She was active with the Make a Wish Program, especially with the fund raising in Franklin and Rutland Counties.
Mrs. Beauregard had affiliations with the American Cancer Society, the American Red Cross and the United Ways of Franklin and Rutland Counties.
Survivors include a daughter, Hailey Kerner and her husband, Jay of Rutland Town; and two sons, Robert Beauregard and his wife, Lori of Freehold and Thomas Beauregard and his fiancée, Chawntelle Bezon of Benson; a sister, Linda Coyne and husband, John of Belle Harbor, N.Y.; four grandchildren, Nathan, Austin and Alexis Beauregard and Abigail Kerner; and nieces and nephews.
Friends may call on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Thursday at the Trinity Episcopal Church, 85 West St., Rutland. Burial will follow in the East Clarendon cemetery.
