ALFRED R. ZWEERES

ST. ALBANS BAY -- Alfred R. Zweeres, 76, a resident of St. Albans Bay passed away Wednesday evening, Sept. 19, 2001, in the Northwestern Medical Center surrounded by his family.

He was born in Swanton, Dec. 19, 1924, the son of the late Willard and Josephine (Hakey) Zweeres. He was a painter and machinist for all his working life.

He leaves his wife Joyce (Richard) Zweeres to whom he was married on July 5, 1947. Together they had six children, Diane and Allen Therrien, Willard A. Zweeres, Donna and Phillip Florio all of St. Albans Bay, Mark K. and Lee Zweeres of Highgate, Earl and Mary Therrien and a daughter-in-law, Mary Ann (Zweeres) Tubolino of East Highgate and Jeffrey A. and Kathleen Zweeres of Florida.

One of 10 children, he is also survived by three sisters, Shirley and Clifford Patterson of St. Albans Bay, Dorothy and Ronnie Gignac of St. Albans, and Anita and Clarence Honsinger of St. Albans; two brothers, William and Germaine Zweeres of Swanton and Roy and Gloria Zweeres of Florida and a sister-in-law, Anne Zweeres of Swanton. Also surviving are two brothers-in-law, George (Bud) Richard of Enosburg and Paul Richard of Massachusetts, as well as 17 grandchildren, 22 great grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was a lifelong area resident who lived a peaceful and prosperous life. He lived for tomorrow and his family and was known by many as Red Zweeres. He will be sadly missed and was loved by all. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was our life and world and our pride and joy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated, Monday, Sept. 24, 2001, at 11 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 65 Canada Str., Swanton.

Interment will take place later in Greenwood Cemetery in St. Albans. Friends may call at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton on Sunday, Sept. 23, 2001, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

The Zweeres family wishes to invite all their family and friends to a luncheon reception that will be held following the Sunday afternoon visitation and after the Funeral Mass on Monday. The reception will be held at Mr. Zweeres' late home on Zweeres Road located off the Lapan Bay Road in St. Albans Bay.

Funeral arrangements are entrusted to Kidder Memorial Home.

MARCELLA DESPRES

SWANTON -- Mrs. Marcella Despres, 88, a longtime resident of Swanton, died early Wednsday morning, Sept. 19, 2001 in the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.

Marcella was born in Hartford, Conn., July 24, 1913, the daughter of the late Eugene and Rose-Anna (Joyal) Berthiaume. She attended schools in Bedford, Que., Canada, and in 1943 married Roger Despres who predeceased her in 1981.

Marcella was a devoted parishioner of The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary where she belonged to the Ladies of Saint Anne and the Altar Society. She was also a weekly volunteer at the VerDelle Village Extended Care Facility in St. Albans Town.

She leaves three sisters, Simone Caron of Montreal, Mignonne Martin of Ste. Therese, and Marie-Blanche Berthiaume of Montreal. Also surviving are three sisters-in-law, Gisele Berthiaume of Repentigny, Que., Marie Jeanne Bessettte of Colchester, and Lillian Favreau of Fla. as well as several nieces and nephews.

A sister, Pauline Archambault and two brothers, Ernest and Raymond Berthiaume, predeceased her.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001, at 2 p.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 65 Canada St., Swanton. Interment will take place later in the family lot in All Saints Cemetery in Richford. Friends may call at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton on Saturday, from noon until the hour of the funeral.

ROBERTA DOMINA

ST. ALBANS -- Mrs. Roberta Domina, age 59, died Monday morning, Sept. 17, 2001, in the Fairview University Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minn. She was born in Albany, N.Y., May 18, 1942, daughter of the late Clifford and Florence (Peters) Peters. On Oct. 25, 1959, she married Richard Domina.

Besides her husband, Richard, she is survived by her five children and their spouses; Richard, Jr. and Linda Domina, Lisa Wallentine and her companion Brian Lawton all of Swanton, Darlene and Russell Gagne, Patrick and Kelley Domina, Michele and Gordon Gagne, all of Highgate; a brother Orice Peters of Florida, 13 grandchildren, Brandon, Bruce, Erin, Kyle, Adam, Alex, Eric, Nichole, Alyssa, Crystal, Janette, Brooke, and Daniele, her stepfather Roy Gallup of Richford, several nieces and nephews, including a special niece and nephew Sean and Wendy Baker of St. Albans. She was predeceased by her parents Clifford and Florrence and a brother Stanley Peters.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 22, 2001, at 10 a.m. in the Brady and Levesque Chapel. Friends may call at the funeral home, 86 South Main St. from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday. Interment will be in the Domina Family lot in Sheldon Village Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Vermont Lung Association, 30 Farrell St., So. Burlington, Vt. 05403 Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady and Levesque Funeral Home.

GERALD T. COTE

ST. JOHNSBURY -- Gerald "Jerry" T, age 60, died suddenly Wednesday, Sept. 13, at the Northeastern Regional Hospital.

The son of Florian A. and Josephine R. Littlehale Cote, Jerry was born April 23, 1941 in St. Johnsbury. He grew up in the St. Johnsbury area and attended local schools. He served in the U.S. Army in the early 1960's. He married Suzanne Baraw, Feb. 11, 1989, she predeceased him on March 13, 2000. Jerry had worked for IBM prior to retirement.

Jerry loved his motorcycle and enjoyed traveling, and he also spent time in Fla. He is survived by his fiancé, Teresa Cooper of Mcindo Falls; a son, Gerald "Jerry" T. Cote II; and wife Tracy of St. Johnsbury; three brothers, Donald of St. Johnsbury; Jim of Danville; and Leo of California; three granddaughters, Kayla, Karli, and Kara, and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial graveside service will be held Saturday, Sept. 29, at 11 a.m. in the Danville Green Cemetery in Danville, Vt. with the Rev. Melvin A. Richardson officiating.

Memorial contributions may be made in Gerald's name to Father Flanagan's Boy's Home Boystown, Neb. 68010

Arrangements are by Sayles Funeral Home, located in St. Johnsbury.

DANIEL FRANCIS MINER

ST. ALBANS - Funeral services for Daniel F. Miner, who died Sept. 15, 2001, were held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in Holy Angels Catholic Church with the Reverend Maurice Roy, pastor, celebrating a Mass of Christian Burial.

Assisting at the altar were Normand Blouin and Fabio Choiniere. Scriptures were proclaimed by Sister Cecile Lebeau. Organist and vocalist was Mary Jo Gillilan with a special a cappella solo "Danny Boy" sung by Valerie Chagnon. A tribute to Danny, written by his friend Ken Goodroe, was read by Father Roy.

Altar gifts were presented by Danny's daughter, Sue Bachand, her husband, Dan, and their children, Sean and Jessica.

In attendance were representatives of AARP, Franklin County Senior Center, Lake Street Housing, Post 758 VFW Auxiliary, Franklin County Museum, St. Albans Historical Society, and many friends and former neighbors from Fairfield.

Casket bearers were Anthony, Michael and Nicky Nichols, Clifton Britch, Dan Bachand and Ron Regan.

Interment was in the Miner lot in Holy Cross Cemetery with Father Roy offering committal prayers. A reception and luncheon followed in Holy Angels Parish Center served by the bereavement committee of the church. On Monday afternoon, Father Roy conducted a Vigil for the Deceased with Danny's friends and family at the funeral home. Arrangements were by the Heald Funeral Home of St. Albans.

PETER R. GREEN

ST. ALBANS -- Mr. Peter R. Green, age 58, died Monday evening, Sept. 17, 2001 in VerDelle Village, Extended Care Facility following a brief illness. He was born in Hartford, Conn., Jan. 30, 1943 son of the late Carlyle and Alice (Hall) Green.

Peter was a laboratory technician for the Mary Fletcher Hospital and the University of Vermont in Burlington and a former technician for Champlain Valley Physicians Hospital in Plattsburgh, N.Y. He served in the Vermont National Guard for six years.

He is survived by his three daughters; Yvonne Green and her companion Steve Putnam, April and her husband Brian Burns all of St. Albans, Jennifer and her husband Andy McMillian of Alburg; two grandchildren Tom Wells and Josh Gauvin; five brothers and their spouses; Bud and Celeste Green of Moodus, Conn., Wayne and Helen Green of Portland, Ore., Lawrence and Arlene Green of Brownsville, Texas., Richard and Nancy Green of St. Albans, William and Diane Green of Swanton; 18 nieces and nephews; several cousins; and his former wife, Patricia Austin, of St. Albans.

Graveside funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Mt. Calvary Cemetery. There will be no public calling hours. Memorials may be made to the Franklin County Home Health Agency, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, Vt. 05478. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

ELIZABETH (BETTY) LAFONTAINE

RICHFORD/PLATTSBURGH, N.Y. - Elizabeth (Betty) Lafontaine, born Dec. 27, 1939, passed away Sept. 18, 2001 at the Meadow Brook Health Care Facility in Plattsburgh, N.Y.

Betty graduated from Richford High School in 1957. Her father, George E. Brouillette and her mother, Cleora St. Germain Brouillette, formerly of Richford, predeceased Betty.

Her husband, Reginald Lafontaine of Champlian, N.Y., survives Betty, also her daughters Susan Johnson of Columbus, Ohio, Kristin Goodman of Phelps, N.Y. and their husbands and children.

Two sisters also survive her, Louise Brouillette of Florida and Lillian Brouillette of Massachusetts; and two brothers, Philip Brouillette and his wife, Jeannette, of Massachusetts and Mark Brouillettte and his wife, Heidi of Richford.

LARRY A ROY

ESSEX JCT -- Larry A. Roy died Sunday September 16, 2001 at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington from complications following a heart attack.

Larry lived for many years in South Hero with his parents Bernard and Lorena Lambert Roy.

He leaves his brother John and family who operate the family farm in South Hero and his brother George and family of Monkton.

Larry was 64 years old and would have been married to Sandra McCuin Roy for 40 years on September 23. This relationship allowed each to be true to themselves so as to enjoy their many friends and family. Larry was rewarded many times by his children and their spouses for his great gift as a father. Judy and Mike, Bernie and Marge, Joe and Kelly, Becky and Klaus, and Shawn. He loved and enjoyed each of his 10 grandchildren for their unique and individual personalities: Vincent, Ashton-Lee, Matthew, Christa, Sidney, Connor, Skylar, Marcus, Alexa, and Samantha.

Larry had a great relationship with Sandra's family, Sheila and Butch Cote, Eileen and Sherman Blow, Colleen and Don Potvain, Larry and Kathy McCuin, and his special friend and brother-in-law, Terry McCuin. He was always there for his mother-in-law, Ramona.

He operated the family farm before resuming a career in construction, at which time he operated Roy's Excavating with his son Bernard.

He will be missed on many hunting trips and golf outings with his family. His fly rod will lay idle.

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, Sept. 20, 2001 at 11:00 a.m. in the Congregational Church in South Hero. Burial will follow in the South Hero Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Essex Rescue, P.O. Box 124, Essex Jct. Vt. 05453-0124.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday afternoon, Sept. 19, from 4-8 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home, Rt. 7, Milton.
