Liturgy for Moruzzi celebrated Thursday - March 3, 2000
NORTH ADAMS — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Mary (Ferrari) Moruzzi, 93, of 3 Hillside Ave., Wappinger's Falls, N.Y., a former longtime resident of Clarksburg, was celebrated Thursday, March 2, 11 a.m., in St. Anthony of Padua Church with the Rev. Daniel J. O'Hear, pastor, officiating.
Ministers of the word were Laura O'Connor and Laura Moruzzi, granddaughters. The offertory was presented by Virginia Mogavero and Theresa Herman, daughters, and Maura Graiff, niece. A poem was read by Theresa Mogavero, daughter. The acolyte was Anthony Falco and the organist was Dr. Dwight Killam. Margaret Ciepiela was the soloist.
Zgrzebniak funeral services Thursday - March 3, 2000
ADAMS — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Joseph P. Zgrzebniak, 86, of 5 Edmund St., Adams, was celebrated Thursday, March 3, 9 a.m., in St. Stanislaus Kostka Church, Adams, with the Rev. John C. Chwalek, pastor, officiating.
Dola Lipinski was the lector. Edward Jamros was crossbearer and Stanley Swistak Jr. and Peter Decker were acolytes. John Sumaj was organist and soloist.
Burial followed in Bellevue cemetery, Adams. Pallbearers were Robert Strzepek and Joseph Kurley, nephews; and Eric Wilson, William Chittenden, Gerald Burnick and William Loehr.
Services for Tobin held Wednesday - March 3, 2000
ADAMS — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Michael F. Tobin Jr., 69, of San Francisco, Calif., was celebrated Wednesday, March 1, 10 a.m., in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, Adams. The Rev. Antone Bonaventure, C.C.P., officiated. He was assisted by Russell A. Morey, crosier/acolyte.
Doris G. Morey was the lector. Doris A. St. Hilaire, organist, accompanied the Parish Communal Choir under the direction of Margaret A. Brown.
Chenaille services held Thursday - March 3, 2000
WILLIAMSTOWN — A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Ralph P. Chenaille, 79, of 1267 Cold Spring Road, Williamstown, was celebrated Thursday, March 3, 10 a.m., in St. Raphael's Church, Williamstown. The Rev. William F. Cyr, pastor of St. Raphael's and St. Patrick's churches, officiated. He was assisted by James Dignon, acolyte.
The pall was placed on the casket by Ruth Chenaille, wife and Dr. Peter J. Chenaille, son. Dr. Chenaille also placed the crucifix on the casket. The ministers of the word were Sr. Julia McGrath, S.S.J., and Dr. Chenaille. Offertory gifts were presented by Robert and Dorothy Brewer. Dr. Chenaille offered the eulogy and Diane Maynard was the organist and soloist.
Ermio B. Balardini, 92, Cheshire native
Ermio Biagio "Mac" Balardini, 92, of 57 Jennings Ave., Dalton, died Thursday, June 29, 2000, at Curtis Manor Rest Home, Dalton, where he has resided for the past seven months.
He has lived in Dalton since 1954, and in Pittsfield and Cheshire prior to Dalton.
Born May 31, 1908, in Cheshire, he was the son of John and Rose (Albertazi) Balardini. He attended schools in Cheshire.
He was employed for the General Electric Co. for 34 years, retiring in May 1973 as a testman. Prior to G.E., he was employed as a mechanic at Spofford Motors in North Adams. After his retirement, he worked at Kelly's Package Store in Dalton for several years and was a volunteer for the Senior Lunch Program at the Dalton Community House.
During the 1930s, he served in the Civilian Conservation Corps.
He was a communicant of St. Agnes Church, Dalton, and was a member of the G.E. Quarter Century and Pensioners Clubs. He enjoyed small motor repair.
His wife, the former Mildred O'Brien, whom he married June 30, 1934, died March 27, 1976.
He leaves two sons, Thomas E. Balardini Sr. and James G. Balardini, both of Dalton; four sisters, Rita Sorel of Calif., Ida Kittler of Adams, Viola Vella and Florina Duda, both of Pittsfield; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and his longtime companion, Margaret Cady of Dalton.
A daughter, Nancy J. Smith of Dalton, died April 25, 1986. A brother, Ugo Balardini, and a sister, Annuciata Patenaude, also are deceased.
Funeral services will be Saturday, July 1, 9 a.m., at Dery-Foley Funeral Home, 890 East Main St., Dalton. Burial will follow in Ashuelot cemetery.
Calling hours at the funeral home are today, 4-7 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dalton Ambulance Fund through the funeral home.
Stephen R. Bednarczyk, 69, family in area
Stephen R. Bednarczyk, 69, of 15 Jennifer Lane, West Stockbridge, died Tuesday, June 27, 2000, at the Berkshire Medical Center, Pittsfield, shortly after being admitted.
Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 2, 1930, he was the son of Stephen and Agnes (Gerwaski) Bednarczyk. He was a 1948 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War.
He was employed as a welder at the General Electric Co., Pittsfield, retiring in 1995 after 47 years of service.
He played the accordion and guitar for many years and was a member of the MBM Trio. He also loved country music.
He was a longtime member of the West Stockbridge Sportsman's Club and a member of the G.E. Quarter Century Club and Pensioners.
He leaves three daughters, Deborah Dion, Donna McMahon and Diana Burdick, all of Adams; three sons, Stephen Bednarczyk, Richard Bednarczyk and Edward Bednarczyk, all of Adams; a brother, Robert Bednarczyk of Pittsfield; 10 grandchildren; a great-granddaughter; and his fiancé and companion of 17 years, Edith A. West of West Stockbridge.
A service of remembrance will be celebrated at the West Stockbridge Sportsman's Club at a later date.
