LAURA D. IVES
RICHFORD - Laura D. Ives, age 76, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans with her loving family at her side.
She was born in Philipsburg, Quebec Canada, Feb. 10, 1930, the daughter of the late Arthur and Adele (Lariviere) Dumouchel.
Prior to her retirement, Laura was employed at several restaurants in St. Albans and Richford as a bilingual waitress and later for Peerless Clothing as a seamstress.
Laura will be long remembered and sadly missed by her family, which includes eight children and their spouses, Ronald Ives of Keene, N.H., Linda Garrett of Swanton, Thomas Ives of St. Albans, Steven and Tina Ives of Sheldon, Diana and Terry Pilon of Franklin, Randy Ives of Swanton, Brian Ives of Richford, and Bonnie and Robin Wood of Milton; 13 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her brother, Lionel Dumouchel.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Aug. 12, 2006, at 11 a.m. at the Spears Funeral Home, 140 Main St., Richford. Interment will follow in the family lot St. Albans Bay Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home in Richford.

THERESA MARY BRACE
ST. ALBANS - Theresa Mary Brace, 56, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2006, at the Northwestern Medical Center with her loving family at her side. She was born in St. Albans, Vt. on Jan. 21, 1950, the daughter of the late Leo and Beatrice (Niles) Brace.
Theresa was employed for many years as a nurse’s aid in the Albany, N.Y. area. She loved to collect dolls, jewelry, making ceramics and doing latch hooks. Theresa also volunteered at Martha’s Kitchen.
Survivors include her partner and caregiver for the past 19 years, Gerald Fuller of St. Albans; her seven children, James Charles Brace of Enosburgh, William Washington, Abdul Salaam, Tina Brace McFarland and her husband, Uzell all of St. Albans, Tamika M. Brace of Troy, N.Y., Brent Edward Brace and Andrew Sylvester Brace, both of St. Albans; her 26 grandchildren, LIL Abdul, LIL Franky, Shaheed, Jovan, Tyrek, Jayshaun, Destin, Kiesha, Destiny, Ameer, Amin, Nasir, Rayshaun, Deshanae, Ureek, Amazhalahn, William Jr., Brianna, Elijh, James Jr., Javon, Isaiah, Kenyata, Trenton, Joseph and Logan; her brother, William “Chipper” Brace; her two sisters, Barbara Smith and Carol Washington, all of St. Albans; her many special nieces, nephews, and caregivers. Also, Theresa’s step-mother, Nancy Christian and her husband, Herbert of Schenectady, N.Y., her step-daughter, Nicole McNab of Rensselaer, N.Y.; her special friend, Renée Marcroft of St. Albans; and many special friends at the Northwest Counseling and Support Services. In addition to her parents, Theresa was predeceased by her sister, Helen Hopkins; and her three brothers, Herbert Brace, Leo “Squeaky”
Brace and Frederick “Manny” Brace.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, Aug. 11, 2006, at 11 a.m. in Holy Angels Catholic Church on Lake Street with the Reverend Maurice J. Roy as celebrant. Interment will follow in the family lot in Greenwood Cemetery. Theresa’s family will receive friends on Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St., St. Albans.

ANDRE ‘ANDY’ J. LAROSE
ENOSBURG FALLS - Funeral services were held Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church with Rev. Benedict Kiely celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial, assisted by Leonard Charron. Organist and soloist was Claire Hungerford. Greeters at the church were Andy’s nephews, Damien Desroches and Anthony Larose.
Altar servers were Andy’s niece and nephew, Jade and Dallas Desroches. Scripture readings were proclaimed by Andy’s nephew and Godson, Damien Desroches, and niece Lindsey Larivee. The eulogy was given by Andy’s sister, Diane Lumbra. Following the eulogy Diane Lumbra and Jim LaClair sang “You are Mine.”
The funeral procession was led by the truck that Andy drove at work to St. John the Baptist Cemetery where Father Kiely held committal prayers and Andy’s niece, Jade Desroches, played the trumpet.
Andy’s brother-in-law, Lloyd Lumbra, was the urn bearer. Honorary bearers were Andy’s good friends, Michael Choquette, David Stowe, Kenneth Goodrich, Jeff Goodrich, Terry Wright, Dennis Couture, and Wendall Provoncha.
Spears Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements.
LEO RAY MYOTT, JR.
OCKLAWAHA, Fla. - Leo Ray Myott Jr., a.k.a. "Pete,” walked with the angels to Our Lord at dawn's first light on Aug. 6, 2006. His war with cancer over.
He came into this world July 3, 1956, the second of five children born to Leo Ray and Rita Myott. He was their eldest son; the second child of five. Pete was preceded in death by his parents.
He leaves to celebrate his life, his special friend, BB Bazinette; his son, Matthew; his sister, Betty-Ann (Pat) Tallon of Saskatchewan, Canada; his brothers, Larry (Lois) Jewett of Ocklawaha, Fla. and Rick Myott of Beaumont, Texas; and his sister, Nancy (Randy) Hopson of Nederland, Texas; as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews; and many friends from Vermont to Texas to Florida.
Everyone who knew Pete knows there was no kinder, gentle man. He held many jobs in his lifetime and was very particular about how he did them. He took great pride in a well-mowed lawn, having nicknamed himself "Non-Stop Pete." No job went unfinished.
He will be greatly missed by all of us who knew and loved him. Walk in Peace, Pete.
ROBERT C. ‘GUBBY’ LUMAN
FAIRFAX -- Robert C. “Gubby” Luman, 56, “The Man, The Myth and The Legend” of Maple Street, died unexpectedly Friday August 4, 2006 at his home in Fairfax.
Gubby was born January 14, 1950 in St. Albans “Kerbs’ Baby” the son of the late John Robert and Bernice LeMay Luman. A lifelong resident, he attended Fairfax schools. A natural salesman, he enjoyed wheeling and dealing, whether it be automobiles, boats, guns or baseball cards.
An avid outdoorsman, Gubby enjoyed his trips to Alaska as well as hunting and fishing in the area. He loved taking his time and being with his friends, riding around the back roads looking for wildlife or going down to the lake and finding a nice spot to just sit and enjoy a beautiful sunset. All those who knew him will miss him.
Gubby is survived by: his son, Robert C. Luman Jr. of Anchorage, Alaska, and Wanda Carp, also of Anchorage, who was Gubby’s longtime companion and mother of his son. His Uncle “Peanut” Raymond Luman and his wife, Helga, of New Jersey, his aunt Lillian Robtoy of St. Albans. His cousins, Donald Luman and his wife Lynn of Fairfax, Richard LeMay of Johnson, Frank Luman of Burlington and Mike and Denise Luman of New York. He also leaves behind a long list of friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday Aug. 11, 2006 at 2 pm in the Minor Funeral Home, Route 7 in Milton. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from noon until the hour of the service on Friday.

ST. ALBANS -- A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Mr. Mark Mercure Tuesday, Aug. 8, 2006 at 10:00 A.M. in St. Mary’s Church with Father Leonidas Laroche Celebrating. Assisting Father Laroche at the altar were Deacon Jack Rixon, Robert LeClair and John Manahan. Mary Jo Gillilan was the organist and soloist. Readings from Scripture were presented by Mark’s aunts Sister Rita Mawn O.Carm. and Kathleen Tabor. Interment followed in the Mercure family lot in Holy Cross Cemetery. Casket bearers were Stephen Mercure, David Luneau, Curt Brown, Albert Benson, Patrick Manahan and Daniel Howrigan. Delegations in attendance were from Bayside Bait and Tackle, Smith, Bell and Thompson, Handy Pontiac, Cadillac, GMC, Mylan Technologies, Sons of The American Legion, Cioffi’s Real Estate, Cioffi’s Corner Store, BPOE Lodge 1655, St. Albans Town Educational Center, Howrigan Farms, Former Eveready Employees, Bellows Free Academy, Office Qtrs., Total Home Center, Former St. Albans Fruit Company, Shooters Saloon, and Bass Masters. Monday evening Father Laroche conducted a Christian Wake Service with Mark’s family and friends. Arrangements were entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home and Commemorative Services.
MARY ELIZABETH PETERSON
SHELDON - Mary Elizabeth Peterson, age 65, passed away Tuesday morning Aug. 8, 2006 at her home, with her loving family at her side.
She was born in Brattleboro on Feb. 5, 1941 the daughter of the late John & Maxine (Howard) Adams.
Mary grew up in Brattleboro and graduated from Brattleboro High School. She earned an associate’s degree in nursing from Vermont Technical College and had been employed as a L.P.N. at Haven Health Care Facility in St. Albans. She enjoyed reading, snowshoeing, long walks in the woods and sunsets over Lake Champlain.
She is survived by her husband Robert Peterson, of Sheldon; they were married Jan. 15, 1994; a son and his wife, Timothy and Kelly Peters of Richford; two daughters, Linda Greenwood and her husband Shayne of Richford, and Lori Williams of Berkshire; a stepson, Mark Peterson of Phoenix, Ariz.; her grandchildren, Jennifer Bates and her husband Brad of St. Albans, Travis Greenwood, Benjamin Peters, Amy Jo Peters, Amanda Peters, all of Richford, Michael Williams of St. Albans, Matthew Williams, and Dakota Williams both of Berkshire; a great grandson, Colby Williams of Richford; her brothers, Ernest “Jackie” Barre and his wife Lois of Medford, Ore., William Adams and his wife Peggy, and John Adams and his companion Connie Laclair all of Brattleboro; her sisters-in-law, Joan Matanle of Springfield, Carole Young and her husband Alan of Georgetown, Mass.; and special friend, Patricia Guilmette of St. Albans. Besides her parents, Mary was predeceased by her first husband, Clinton “Joe” Peters; and a son, Joseph Peters.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon August 11, 2006 at 1 p.m. at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in St. Albans. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family at St. Joseph’s Cemetery in Hinsdale, N.H.

PEARL R. BESSETTE GIBSON
ST. ALBANS - Pearl R. Bessette Gibson, 91, a lifelong area resident, passed away late Sunday, Aug. 6, 2006, at Brownway Residence in Enosburg. She was born in Sheldon, Vt. on June 15, 1915, the daughter of the late Alfred and Mary (Cooper) Raymond. On Jan. 23, 1942, she married Ovila A. Bessette, who predeceased her on Aug. 5, 1972. Pearl was married to her second husband, George Gibson on Nov. 14, 1977, and he predeceased her in 2001.
Pearl was employed for many years at the former Fonda Container Corporation. She was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne.
Survivors include her nephews, Robert Renaudette and his wife, Sandra of Swanton, Vt., Leo Raymond Jr. and his wife, Isabelle of Bradford, Vt., Leo Renaudette and his wife, Nancy of Canaan, Vt. and Donald Renaudette of Winterhaven, Calif.; her nieces, Rita Ungor and her husband, Louis of Lauderhill, Fla., Lois Partington and her husband, Alan of Attleboro, Mass. and Betty Renaudette of Swanton, Vt., Ann Marshall and Elaine Ellis, both of Massachusetts; and several grand nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husbands, Pearl was predeceased by her brother, Leo Raymond and his wife, Mildred; and her two sisters and their husbands, Gertrude & John Coyle and Loretta & Raymond Renaudette.

KATHRYN AUDREY PAQUETTE
ALBURGH CENTER - Mrs. Kathryn Audrey Paquette, age 77, a lifelong resident of the Alburgh community, died Monday morning, Aug. 7 2006, in her Alburgh Center home with loving family by her side.
Born at home in Alburgh on Oct. 20, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Elwin E. and Ina Belle (Bohannon) James. She attended Alburgh schools and later was married to Paul Joseph Paquette who predeceased her on June 24. On Sept. 9, they would have been married for 56 years.
Kathryn has had a long association with Kay’s Restaurant in Alburgh Village and worked in the Hot Lunch Program at the Alburgh Elementary School and then retired after many years at the Chittenden Bank. In earlier years she worked for the former White Gables and Bird Land Restaurants, and Swanton Sewing Room. She was a member of St. Amadeus Roman Catholic Church and a Life Member of the American Legion, Creller-Landon Post 60 Auxiliary of Alburgh.
She leaves her daughter, Sharon Bockus and husband, Daniel, and a son, Richard Paquette and his wife, Bonnie, all of Alburgh; two grandchildren, Robbie Calderwood and wife, Thomasina and their son, Brandon, all of Swanton and Brian Paquette of Grand Isle; two sisters, Evelyn McIver of Lisbon Falls, Maine and Phyllis Holbrook and husband, Charles of Swanton; three brothers and their wives, Vernon and Elaine James, Leonard and Sharon James, all of Alburgh, Allyn and Pauline James of Burlington; and two sister-in-laws, Irma James of Alburgh and Eileen James of Connecticut.
Besides her parents, Kathryn was predeceased by three brothers, Alan in 1935, Alton in 1981 and Eldon in 1999; three step-brothers, Donald, Avon and Kenneth James; a granddaughter, Denise Paquette in 1990; and a niece, Gail LaFrance in 1998.
The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, Aug. 10, 2006, at 11 a.m. from St. Amadeus Roman Catholic Church, Main Street, Alburgh Village. Father Maurice U. Boucher, SSE will be the celebrant and Kathryn’s cousin, The Reverend Monsignor Wendell H. Searles, the homilist. Interment will follow in the Paquette family lot in St. Amadeus Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p. m.

MARK J. MERCURE
ST. ALBANS - Mr. Mark J. Mercure, age 50, died suddenly Friday evening, Aug. 4, 2006. He was born in St. Albans, June 24, 1956, son of Mary Elizabeth "Betty" (Mawn) and the late Eeward "Joe" Mercure. He was predeceased by his father on Sept. 10, 1998.
He graduated from BFA Class of 1975, and Johnson State College two years later. While in school, Mark was selected to Vermont All State for football, basketball, and baseball. Mark worked as a Nighttime Supervisor for Mylan Technologies. He was a former little league and softball coach, a lifelong fan of the Boston Red Sox and New England Patriots, and was an avid fisherman. He was an active member of the Sons of the American Legion, Sons of the VFW and BPOE Lodge 1566.
Mark is survived by his daughter, Olivia Suzanne Mercure of St. Albans; his mother, Betty Mercure; his brothers and sisters, Mary Jane McMahon and her husband, Ed of Burlington, Judy Mercure of St. Albans, Joanne Ruch of Essex Junction, Martha Turner of St. Albans, Stephen Mercure of St. Albans, Paul Mercure and his wife, Susan of Hollister, Calif.; a very special and dear friend, Jun Mayo; his aunts and uncles, Margaret Yuen of St. Albans, Virginia and Robert Howrigan of Fairfield, Andrew and Kathy Mawn of Woburn, Mass., Patricia and Jack Heimberger of Cocoa Beach, Fla., Sr. Rita Mawn of Saranac Lake, N.Y., Kathleen Tabor of St. Albans, Beatrice Gove of St. Albans, and Eugene and Claire Mercure of Scottsdale, Ariz.; 11 nieces and nephews; and many cousins and friends.

ANDRE ‘ANDY’ J. LAROSE
ENOSBURG FALLS - Andre “Andy” J. Larose, age 49, passed away Friday, Aug. 4, 2006, at his home with his loving family at his side following a courageous battle with cancer.
Andy was born June 12, 1957, in St. Albans, Vt., the son of Rita (Giroux) Larose and the late Albert Larose.
Andy was a life long resident of Enosburg. His employment started with driving truck for his father at Larose & Sons Trucking, then for his brother Larry at Franklin Ford Tractor, Farrell Distributing, Stowe & Sons, and finally at Wrightholm Trucking having to stop work in October of 2005 due to his illness. While driving with Farrell’s in December of 1998, Andy was recognized for driving 1 Million Miles Accident Free.
Andy was an avid NASCAR fan with his favorite driver having been Dale Earnhardt Sr. He also enjoyed playing horseshoes and cribbage, going to deer camp “Camp Perfect”. He will be remembered for his sense of humor, his willingness to help others, and how meticulous he kept his vehicles.
He is survived by his wife, Sharon (Roberge) Larose of Enosburg Falls, they were married on June 21, 1980; his sons, Dylon Larose of Burlington, and Dakota Larose of Enosburg Falls; his mother, Rita Larose of Richford; his brothers, Larry Larose and his friend, Linda Antonucci of Essex, Michael Larose and his wife, Janet of Enosburg Falls, and Stephen Larose and his wife, Karen of Swanton; his sisters, Claire Kaczmarczyk of Springfield, Mass., Susan Dussault and her husband, Pierre of Richford, Jean Jewett and her husband, Daniel of Enosburg, Mary Larose of Enosburg, Diane Lumbra and her husband, Lloyd of Berkshire, Barbara Hungerford and her husband, Thomas of Swanton, Lisa Barnes and her friend, Tom Tribble of Enosburg, Lorraine McAllister and her husband, Michael of Enosburg, and Jeannette Larivee and her husband, James of Enosburg; his father and mother-in-law, Richard & Claire Roberge of Enosburg; his sister-in-law, Judy Griffith and her husband, Scott of Stowe; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
