YVONE C. GIROUX
ADAMS, MASS. -- Yvone C. Giroux, 79, of 20 Forest Park Ave., Adams, Mass., died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2001, at the Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
Born in St. Albans, Vt. on Aug. 29, 1921, a daughter of the late Joseph and Melina (Paquette) Coulombe, she attended local schools and graduated from Holy Angel's Convent in St. Albans. She also attended the former Berkshire Business College in Pittsfield.
In her earlier years she was employed in the retail industry and for many years she worked for the General Electric Co. in Pittsfield. During WWII she was a volunteer observer for enemy planes. She was also a volunteer for the Berkshire Medical Center gift shop for eight years.
She lived in Cheshire with her husband for 18 years until 1985 when they moved to Adams. She served as Den Mother for Cub Scout Pack 38 in Adams for many years. She was a member of the Cheshire Senior Center.
She was a communicant of St. Mary of Assumption Church in Cheshire where she was a member of the choir. After moving to Adams she became a communicant of the Parish of Notre Dame and St. Thomas Aquinas.
She enjoyed walking, dancing and was a gourmet cook.
She is survived by her husband, Bernard L. Giroux, whom she married at Holy Angel's Church in St. Albans, Vt. on Nov. 14, 1945, and would have celebrated their 56th wedding anniversary this year.
She is also survived by a son, David L. Giroux of Albuquerque, N.M., a brother, Paul Coulombe of Burlington, Vt.; two sisters, Helen Coulombe of Northfield, Vt. and Dorilla Shepard of Brandon, Vt.; a granddaughter Diana (Giroux) Bassan of Albuquerque, N.M., and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.
A son, Richard M. Giroux, three brothers, Joseph, Arsene and Eugene Coulombe, and a sister Florida (Coulombe) Menard, are deceased.
MARGUERITE MARIE DUFFY
ST. ALBANS -- Mrs. Marguerite Marie Duffy, age 91, died Sunday, Aug. 19, 2001, at Redstone Villa Nursing Home. She was born in Montreal, Quebec, May 24, 1910, daughter of the late Philias and Ann (Kingsley) Vincent. She was first married to Edward Brassard, who died in 1945. She later married Wendell Duffy, who died in 1975. For over 21 years she was an operator for the New England Telephone Company. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and a communicant of St. Mary's Church.
Her survivors include her son Robert V. Brassard, Sr. and his wife Nancy Brassard, her grandchildren Tina Marie and her husband Michael Tuttle and Robert V. Brassard, Jr., her great grandson Alyx Tuttle, all of St. Albans, her sister Thelma Lawton of Medford, Mass., several nieces and nephews. Besides her husbands Edward Brassard and Wendell Duffy, she was predeceased by her brother Joseph Vincent and sister Irene Colacino.
Funeral services were held Thursday at 11 a.m. with Father Leonidas Laroche, pastor of St. Mary's Church, officiating. Interment followed in the Duffy/Lawton family lot in Holy Cross Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.
DOROTHY S. JACOBS
ENOSBURG FALLS -- Dorothy S. Jacobs, age 91, died Tuesday evening, Aug. 21, 2001, at the Verdelle Village ECF in St. Albans.
She was born Jan. 6, 1910 in Montgomery, the youngest daughter of the late E.J. & Lillian (Murray) Shangraw.
She was a resident of the area most of her life and was a 1929 graduate of Richford High School. She was employed at the Richford Savings Bank, Enosburg National Bank, and was the bookkeeper and secretary for A.J. Budd, retiring in 1981. She married Gordon J. Jacobs July 6, 1932, he predeceased her in 1982.
She is survived by her daughter and her husband, Shirley & J.M. Olson; two grandchildren, two great grandchildren, all of Summerville, S.C.; her sister, Dazel Thompson of Richford, several nieces and a nephew, and many dear friends. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by three brothers, Clyde, Mortimer & Judge P.I. Shangraw.
A graveside service will be held Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. at the Hillside Cemetery in Richford. There will be no visiting hours.
Spears Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
MADONNA A. LONGWAY
ALBANY, N.Y. -- Madonna A. Longway, 66, of Lexington, S.C., died at St. Peter's Hospital on Tuesday, Aug. 21, 2001. Born in St. Albans, Vt. to the late Irving A. & Maude R. Paquette, Madonna was a graduate of Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans, Vt.
Madonna is survived by her loving husband Robert E. Longway, whom she married Oct. 8, 1955. A devoted son, Jeffrey Longway and hjis wife Bridget of Lexington, S.C.; three devoted daughters, Cynthia Klouse and her husband Daniel of Malta, N.Y., Jeanne Coughlin of Lexington, S.C., and Donna Hogan and her husband John of Malta, N.Y.; a brother Winston I. Paquette and his wife Doris of St. Albans, Vt.; as well as six cherished grandchildren, Amanda Klouse, Gregory and Courtney Longway, William Coughlin, Laura and Emily Hogan, and several nieces and nephews also survive.
Funeral services will be held at 8 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 24, 2001, from the Glenville Funeral Home, 9 Glenridge Rd., Glenville, N.Y. and be followed at 9 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at Corpus Christi Church, Rt. 9 and Ushers Rd., Round Lake, N.Y. Burial will be in Memory's Garden. Relatives and friends were invited to attend calling hours Tuesday, Aug. 23, 2001 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

DALLAS I. "JACK" STANLEY
BERKSHIRE -- Dallas I. "Jack" Stanley, age 52, husband of Linda (Davis) Stanley, died Tuesday morning, Aug. 21, 2001, at his home following a brief illness.
He was born Sept. 16, 1948 in Winston-Salem, N.C., the son of Donald Stanley and the late Violet (Warden) Stanley.
Jack was a resident of Berkshire most of his life where he owned and operated a dairy farm for the past 29 years. He also drove school bus for 25 years. He was a member and former deacon of the Berkshire Center Second Congregational Church, Enosburg Lions Club, and several Beagle Clubs. Jack loved raising championship beagles which he sold around the world. He also enjoyed rabbit and deer hunting and bowling. He taught hunter safety courses in the area for several years.
He is survived by his wife Linda (Davis) Stanley of Berkshire; three children, Jack, Brandy & Ryan Stanley, all of Berkshire; one brother, Will Stanley of Norcross, Ga., one sister and her husband Ruth & Bob Wilson of St. Johnsville, N.Y.; Sadie Winchester of Berkshire whom Jack considerd his mother; his mother-in-law, Eleanor Davis of So. Westerlo, N.Y.; his brothers and sisters-in-law and their spouses, Joe & Susan Davis of Furea Bush, N.Y., Frank & Donna Davis of Cario, N.Y., Betty & Jimmy Sill, Todd & Valarie Davis, Theresa Davis, all of So. Westerlo, N.Y., Eric Davis of Manchester, N.H., Timothy & Lori Davis of Amsterdam, N.Y., and Jerry & Dorothy Davis of Brockport, N.Y.; several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. Besides his father he was predeceased by Kermit Winchester whom Jack considered his father; his father-in-law, Sanford Davis; and a sister-in-law, Laurie (Davis) Terry.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 11 a.m. at the Berkshire Center Second Congregational Church with Lyle Willey officiating. Interment will follow in the East Franklin Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home on 96 Dickinson Ave. in Enosburg Falls.

ANNE BRADLEY HAWLEY
CLOVERDALE, Calif. - Anne Bradley Hawley passed away on Sunday, August 12, 2001, in Cloverdale.
She is survived by two sisters; Jane Bradley Lund of Chandler, Arizona and Charlotte Bradley Montgomery of St. Albans, a son; Steven Hawley of Cincinnati, Ohio, a step-son; Willis David, and five grandchildren.
Interment was in the family lot at Bradley Cemetery in Fairfield.
MARGUERITE (COVEAU) WILEY
MANCHESTER, CONN. -- Marguerite "Peggy" Wiley, 89, widow of J. Carlyle Wiley, passed away Saturday, Aug. 11, 2001, at Westside Multicare in Manchester, Conn. Born in St. Albans Bay, Vt., Peggy was a resident of the St. Albans area for many years before moving to Brunswick, Maine. While in Brunswick, she was an active member of the Emblem Club. She and her husband retired to Holiday, Fla. in 1978.
Peggy is survived by two sons, Richard Wiley of East Hartford, Conn., and William Wiley; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery in St. Albans, Vt. on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001, at 2 p.m. Relatives and friends respectfully invited to attend. Memorial donations may be made to the Westside Residents' Fund, 349 Bidwell St., Manchester, Conn.
The Wiley family has entrusted Newkirk & Whitney Funeral Home, East Hartford, to care for final arrangements.
FERNANDE R. GODIN
ENOSBURG FALLS -- Fernande R. Godin, age 77, wife of Omer Godin, died Monday morning, Aug. 20, 2001, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.
She was born Aug. 1, 1924 in St. Lambert, Que., Canada, the daughter of the late Arthur & Alberta (Trudeau) Plante.
Mr. & Mrs. Godin moved from Canada in 1948 and were residents of Enosburg for the past 40 years. Mrs. Godin was also a former resident of Berkshire & Richford. She was a housekeeper in the area for many years and also helped her husband operate the family dairy farm. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She enjoyed her family, especially her grandchildren, taking walks, gardening, cooking, baking and canning.
Besides her husband, she is survived by three sons, Richard Godin of Enosburg, Roger Godin and his wife Tracie of Constable, N.Y., and Pierre Godin and his friend Brenda Minckler of Enosburg; four daughters and their husbands, Marie Claire "Mary" & Real Laroche of Highgate Ctr., Pauline & Adrian Allen of Enosburg, Diane & Galen Hanna of Hinesburg, and Suzanne & Philip Parent of Sheldon; two sisters, Therese Vinet and Cecile Dumais, both of Longueuil, Que.; 21 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Enosburg with Rev. Paul St. James celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home on 96 Dickinson Ave. in Enosburg Falls.
