DOUGLAS J. TRYHORNE
MONTGOMERY - Douglas J. Tryhorne, age 90, passed away Sunday morning, May 28, 2006, at the Holiday House Facility in St. Albans with Pearl his loving wife of 69 years at his side.
He was born Aug. 3, 1915, in Sutton, Que. Canada, the son of the late Joy and Jesse (Spicer) Tryhorne
He was a resident of Montgomery most of his life and was a member and Trustee of the Montgomery United Methodist Church and was active with the maintenance and upkeep of the church. He was also a member of the Montgomery Village Cemetery Association, Montgomery Select Board for six years, I.O.O.F. 63 of Enosburg Falls, American Legion Post 42 of Enosburg Falls, Lincoln Lodge F&AM 78 of Enosburg Falls, and the Mt. Sinai Shrine.
He started his working career at Atlas Plywood and then entered the U.S. Navy during World War II. Following his honorable discharge he was a self-employed painter in the area for several years and then became employed at the Lowell Asbestos Mines working there for 31 years retiring in 1980. While working at the mines he also owned and operated along with his wife, Pearl, a dairy farm and the Ideal Restaurant in Enosburg Falls.
He was an accomplished gardener, enjoyed watching birds, listening to country music. He was also a rock hound and while working at the mines he was intrigued with the different rock formations. In his younger years he enjoyed downhill skiing and was instrumental in creating Route 242 to Jay Peak. Most of all he loved his grandchildren and they loved to listen to his many stories.
He is survived by his wife, Pearl (Pudvah) Tryhorne of Montgomery/St. Albans, they were married Aug. 23, 1937; his daughter, F. Joy Bosley of Montgomery and her special friend, Charles Paquette of Maquam Shore; a son and his wife, David and Sally Tryhorne of Enosburg; his grandchildren, Matthew Tryhorne and his fiance', Mary Tetreault of Montgomery, Julie Tryhorne and her companion, Ernest Hart of Huntington, Jonathan Bosley and his wife, Sabine of Waterville, Jolene O'Connell and her husband, Ryan of Yarmouth, Mass.; two brothers, George Shover and his wife, Donna of Enosburg, and Ronald Shover and his wife, Marion of Worcester; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by two sisters, Geraldine Yandow, and Mae Martin-Vessey; and a son-in-law, Stephen Bosley
A graveside memorial service will be held Sunday, June 4, 2006, at 12 p.m. at the Montgomery Village Cemetery with Pastor Ed Sorrell officiating. There will be no visiting hours. Following the memorial service a Masonic service will be held at the cemetery and full military honors will be accorded to Doug.

EDWILDA L. O'BRIEN
ST. ALBANS / ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. - Mrs. Edwilda L. O'Brien, age 90, died Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2006, in the Rio Rancho Rehab and Nursing Center, in Albuquerque, following an extended illness. She was born in Georgia, Vt., Oct. 14, 1915, daughter of the late Alcide and Clara (Ferland) St. Denis.
For 19 year she was employed by H. P. Hood Company, as the chief clerk. She was married to Leonard Cote who was killed in action in World War II, Dec. 18, 1944. She later married Donald 'Pat' O'Brien, who predeceased her on Jan. 8, 1975. She was a communicant of Holy Angels Church, a member of the Ladies of St. Anne, American Legion, Green Mountain Auxiliary Unit 1, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Robert F. Glidden Auxiliary Unit 758 and the Franklin County Senior Citizens. Six years ago she moved to Albuquerque to be near her daughter and family.
Her survivors include her daughter, Pamela and son-in-law, Ramon Pacheco of Albuquerque, N.M., her son, J. Michael and daughter-in-law, Priscilla O'Brien of Chesterfield, N. H.; four grandchildren and their spouses, Christopher and Geri Pacheco, Shannon and Patrick Trujillo, Sean and Nancy O'Brien and Erin O'Brien; four great-grandchildren, Amanda Pacheco, Jake Trujillo, Casey-Rae Trujillo and Ian O'Brien; a sister, Sister Rolande St. Dents of West Franklin, N. H.; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband Leonard, and husband Donald ìPat, î Edwilda was predeceased by her sisters, Alcina Thibault and Rita Gillespie; and brothers, Fernand St. Dents and Urgel St. Dents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Holy Angels Church, St. Albans, June 3, 2006, at 10 a.m. The Ladies of St. Anne will form an honor guard at the funeral. Interment will follow at that time in the O'Brien family lot in Holy Cross Cemetery.

BERNARD R. BEGNOCHE
SWANTON - The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Saturday, May 27, 2006, at 11 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Father John J. Meagher, SSE was the celebrant and homilist. Bernard's sister, Mrs. Yvette Ouimet served as the Eucharistic Minister. Music was provided by organist and soloist, Armand Messier, and violinist, Gianna Messier.
The Readings both from The New Testament were proclaimed by sons, Normand and Marc Begnoche. Offertory Gifts of flowers were presented by Bernard's wife, Patricia Begnoche, sisters, Lorraine Mulheron, Juliette Ouimet, and Rolande Therrien. Eucharistic Gifts of bread, water and wine were presented by sister, Yvette Ouimet and brother, Real Begnoche. Following communion son, Normand Begnoche shared Special Words of Remembrance.
Among the delegations in attendance were representatives from Northwestern Medical Center, Swanton Fire Department and Auxiliary, Mary S. Babcock and Swanton Elementary Schools, local Avon representatives, and the parish communities of Nativity, St. Louis and Holy Angels. Interment followed in the Begnoche family lot in Riverside Cemetery with Father Meagher reading the committal prayers. Following The Prayers of Committal Bernard's Crucifix was blessed and presented to his wife, Patricia by Father Meagher.
A Bereavement Luncheon for family and friends was later served in the Nativity Parish Center hosted by Mrs. Yvette Ouimet and the Ladies of St. Anne.
ROBERT JAMES DONNA
SWANTON - Robert James Donna, age 83, passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2006, at his home on the County Road.
He was born in Montgomery, Oct. 1, 1922, the son of the late Beeman and Margaret (Chalifoux) Donna
Robert has made his home in Swanton for the past 2 O years. He was a former resident of the Carriage House in Franklin, Highgate, and Montgomery. He was employed as a logger, saw mill operator, truck driver for the Montgomery Highway Department, a pole setter for Citizens Utilities and finally worked as a general contractor for Donald Bordner. He enjoyed hunting, playing the harmonica & bones and most of all wood carving. He used his wood working skills to make his boys different toys and carts to play and work with while they were growing up.
He is survived by two sons, Perry Donna and his wife, Mari Pudvah-Donna of Swanton, and Joseph Donna and his friend, Sheila Wheelock of Johnson; a daughter, Valarie Longe of Richford; his grandchildren and their families, Bobbi Jo Lumbra, her husband Gary, and their children, Colby & Isaac, Joseph Donna Jr., his wife Angela, and their children, Kaitlynn, Meghan & Riley, Aimee Donna, & Brock Donna; and his care giver for the last several years, Veronica Jackson. Besides his parents he was predeceased by four brothers, Roger, Harlan, Hermie & Burton Sr.; his sisters, Evelyn Sheltra, Glenna Sheltra, Dorcas Elkins & Lorena Sotnick; and a daughter-in-law, Deborah Donna.
A graveside memorial service will be held Saturday, June 3, 2006, at 4:30 p.m. at St. Isidores Cemetery in Montgomery Center. There will be no visiting hours.

THOMAS REYNOLDS
ST.ALBANS - Thomas Reynolds, age 67, passed away Thursday, May 25, 2006, at his home with his loving wife at his side.
He was born June 22, 1938, in St. Albans, Vt., the son of the late Gordon and Beatrice (Perry) Reynolds.
Tom was a resident of the area all of his life. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Vietnam Era. Following his honorable discharge he was employed at Schibi's Farm Equipment and at Bourbeau Brothers International Farm Equipment. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, watching the birds and squirrels from his window. He loved all animals especially his Dog and Cat.
He is survived by his wife, Mary (Rooney) Reynolds of St. Albans; his children, John Reynolds of Richford, William Reynolds of Illinois, Jerry Reynolds and his wife, Carla of Shelocta, Pa., Steven Reynolds of Highgate, and Rebecca Drake of South Carolina; several grandchildren; a special aunt, Marion Reynolds; and many dear cousins.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 30, 2006, at 11 a.m. at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls. Interment will follow in the West Enosburg Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be held Tuesday at the funeral home from 10 a.m. until the hour of the funeral.

SEWELL CEDRIC DAVIS
FLORIDA / HIGHGATE / SWANTON, Vt. ñ Sewell Cedric Davis, 72, of Avon Park, Fla., and formally of Highgate/Swanton, Vt., went home to be with the Lord on Feb. 23, 2006, in Sebring, Fla. He was surrounded by his loving wife of 49 years, two of his sons and daughters-in-law, and close family friends. He was born in Sweetsburg, Quebec, Canada, to Cedric Chester and Mary Elizabeth (Glidden) Davis, Aug. 15, 1933.
Sewell was a hard worker. He worked for the Canadian Railways at a young age. He then bought and operated a BP Gas Station in Knowlton, Quebec for several years before moving his family to the United States. Sewell worked a number of jobs before retiring from St. Johnsbury Trucking in 1987, when he moved to Deland, Fla., where he managed a mobile home park before moving to Avon Park, Fla. He was a 32nd Degree Mason and active in the Shriners. He was a retired teamster, active Scout Master for many years, and an active member of Order of Arrow. He attended Union Congregational Church in Avon Park.
Sewell was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and brother to his family, and a friend to many who knew him. He is survived by his wife, Wilena Margaret (Stone) Davis; four sons and their families, Terry and Sarah of River Falls, Wis. and their children, Molly and Jordan, Barry and Jeanne of St. Charles, Minn. and their children, Meagan, Maureen, Nathaniel and Grace Anne, Jeff and his fiancÈ, Renae Roth and her children, Jessica and Christopher Goodwin, and Jeff's daughter Christine Davis, and William and Mary Bethel and their children, Jessie, Elizabeth, Amanda and Shawn; two sisters, Ada Rambee of Montreal, Canada and Brenda Davis of Sutton Junction, Quebec; and many nieces and nephews also survive him. He also leaves his very special dog, Chi Chi.
Sewell will be forever remembered by his family for his unconditional love and devotion he shared so freely with so many, and the love of his flowers, fishpond, gardening and woodworking.
A celebration of Sewell's life will be held on Sunday, June 4, at 1:30 p.m. at Church of the Rock on Route 104 in St. Albans, Vt. Friends and family are invited to come celebrate with us and share memories in Sewell's honor. A reception will immediately follow in the Church fellowship hall.

JAMES DRAPER REED, SR.
SHELDON - Funeral services for James Draper Reed Sr. of Sheldon were held on Thursday afternoon at the Spears Funeral Home in Enosburg Falls. The Rev. Donavee Copenhaver, Pastor of the Sheldon United Methodist Church, officiated.
Several family members and friends shared memories of Jim during the service. The Cook and Wilcox Family led the congregation in singing several favorite family hymns as a tribute to Jim. Following the religious service, members of Masonic Lodge 39 F&AM conducted the Masonic ritual for their brother Mason.
Interment followed in the Sheldon Village Cemetery with Pastor Copenhaver conducting the committal service. Serving as pallbearers were Jim's sons, James D. Reed Jr. and Brian Reed; grandson Travis Reed; son-in-law, Steve Seguin; brothers-in-law, Delbert Cook, Max Wilcox; and family friends, Jack Pelkey and Brian Minckler. Bagpiper Jim McKenzie piped selections as those in attendance arrived and departed the cemetery.
Among the many family members and friends attending the service were delegations representing the Vermont Army National Guard and Vermont Department of Corrections, Vermont State Parks Service, Franklin County Home Health Agency, Vaillancourt's Trucking.
Service arrangements were under the care of the Spears Funeral Home in Enosburg Falls.
BERTHA C. JOHNSON
SHELDON / FRANKLIN - Funeral Services were held for Mrs. Bertha C. Johnson, Monday, May 22, 2006, at 10 a.m. in the Brady & Levesque Funeral Chapel with Pastor Herman Benjamin officiating.
Interment followed the service in the Johnson family lot in Sheldon Village Cemetery. Casket bearers were grandsons, Shawn, Frank, James, Jon, Kevin and Todd Johnson. Honorary bearers were grandchildren, Patrick and Brian Johnson, Angela Bertrand, Karen Shadle, and April St. Francis.
Pastor Benjamin conducted a prayer service with Bertha's family Sunday evening in the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

MERRILL DENSMORE
Merrill Densmore passed away suddenly at his home in St. Albans on May 2, 2006, at the age of 62.
Merrill was a wonderful artist and was supported in having many art shows throughout New England by the Grace Program in Hardwick, Vt. Merrill also had a love for music and Bingo.
The family and caregivers would like to thank the team at N.K.H.S. and N.C.S.S. for allowing Merrill to fulfill his goals.
There will be a celebration of life held at the home of J.P. Hale at 115 High St. in St. Albans on Saturday, May 27, starting at 5 p.m. for anyone who would like to attend.
JASON D. KAINE
VERNON, Vt. - Jason Daniel Kaine, 32, of Woodland Road in Vernon, died Tuesday morning, May 23, 2006, at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital, with his family by his side following a courageous battle with leukemia.
He was born in Bridgeport, Conn. on Jan. 22, 1974, the son of Larry and Karen (Fisher) Kaine. Mr. Kaine was raised in Oxford, Conn., attending Oxford public schools, and was a graduate of St. Joseph's High School in Trumbull, Conn., Class of 1992.
He went on to attend Roger Williams University in Bristol, R.I. earning his B.A. in Criminal Justice in 1996. Soon after he enlisted in the U.S. Army on June 18, 1996, serving as a military tactical vehicle operator with an infantry unit stationed in South Korea and Kuwait and took part in Operation Desert Fox. He was the recipient of the Army Commendation Medal, and Expert Infantryman Badge before being honorably discharged from active service on June 17, 1999.
Mr. Kaine entered the Vermont Police Academy in February 2000 and graduated with the May 2000 class. He joined the Vermont State Police and was initially assigned to the St. Albans Barracks serving in the St. Albans area for three years before transferring to the Brattleboro Barracks in 2003 working at the rank of Senior Trooper.
He was a member of the V.F.W. Carl M. Dessaint Post 1034 and was a communicant of St. Michael's Episcopal Church in Brattleboro.
Of his pastimes and interests, he enjoyed playing poker, watching boxing, playing soccer and recently started playing the guitar.
On July 18, 1998, in the historic Gingerbread House in Savannah, Ga., he was married to Joyce J. Avellino.
Besides his wife of seven years, he leaves two son, Lucas and Liam, both at home; his parents of Oxford, Conn.; two brothers, Jeffrey Kaine of Dallas, Texas and Stephen Kaine of Oxford; two aunts, Marilyn D'Elia of Monroe, Conn. and Margaret Cominelli of Stratford, Conn.; his paternal grandmother, Wyona Kaine of Bridgeport; three nephews; one niece; and several cousins.
A Requiem Eucharist will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. at St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church, 47 Walnut St., in Brattleboro with Reverend Thomas J. Brown, rector of St. Michael's Episcopal Church celebrant. Burial with full military honors will follow in Morningside Cemetery in Brattleboro.
Friends are invited to call at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, corner of Bradley Avenue and Putney Road, on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. when the family will be present.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mr. Kaine's name may be made to The Jason Kaine Foundation, c/o Citizens Bank, Putney Road, Brattleboro, Vt. 05301.
