CHARLES W. ‘CHUCK’ SCOTT, JR.
RICHFORD / ST.ALBANS - Charles W. “Chuck” Scott Jr., age 51, passed away Monday afternoon, April 3, 2006, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans with his loving family at his side following a long illness with Leukemia.
He was born Dec. 8, 1954, in St. Albans, the son of Roberta (Jones) Scott and the late Charles W. Scott Sr.
Chuck was a resident of St. Albans most of his life and for the past years made his home in Richford. He was employed at Ben & Jerry’s in St. Albans. He was a US army veteran during the Vietnam War.
Chuck loved to spend time with his family and friends. He loved to hunt and especially loved fishing at any time of the year with anyone who wanted to fish with him. Chuck always had a way of making people laugh. Anyone who knew Chuck always knew to stay away when he said “I’ve gotta tell you something.” Chuck made friends wherever he went.
He is survived by his wife, Connie (Kennedy) Scott of Richford, they were married Aug. 13, 2005; two daughters: Jaime Scott and her fiancé, Roger Dubie, and their daughter Brianna of St. Albans, and Danielle Scott of St. Albans; his mother, Roberta Scott of St. Albans; two step-daughters: Samantha Gingras, and Danielle Gingras, her boyfriend Joshua Smith Sr., and their son Joshua Smith Jr., all of Richford; a grandson, Trenten Scott and his grandmother Diane both of Richford; three sisters: Sandra LaBounty and her husband, Michael of Fairfield, Wendy Pecor and her husband, Al of Sebring, Fla., and Nora Roberge and her friend, Steve of St. Albans; mother-in-law and her husband, Carolyn and Real Smith of Richford; a sister-in-law and her husband, Laura and Joe Broe of Berkshire; a brother-in-law, Travis Smith of Burlington; a grandmother-in-law “the other girlfriend”, Madelaine Haggerty of Richford; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Special friends, Jerry Benoit, Joe Broe, Gary Turgeon, Stacey Steady, Daisy Paradis, Pastor Heidi Reinker and Jeff Perry.
A memorial service will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls with Pastor Heidi Reinker officiating. There will be no visiting hours.

LAWRENCE A. LETOURNEAU
ALBURGH - Mr. Lawrence A. Letourneau, 79, a resident of 10 Winters Lane in Alburgh Village, died Monday evening, April 3, 2006, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in Burlington.
Born in Alburgh on April 13, 1926, he was the son of the late, Norman J. and Rena (Pearo) Letourneau. He attended Alburgh schools and on March 6, 1948, was married to the former Norma Zynda, who survives him.
From 1953 until 1986 he lived in Connecticut and was associated with Pratt & Whitney Aircraft of East Hartford, Colt Industries of West Hartford and retired in 1986 with United Nuclear of Uncasville. In earlier years Lawrence also worked overseas at a Greenland Radar Base. He will always be remembered for his great love of fishing and camping.
Lawrence faithfully served his country in the United States Navy during World War II stationed on the USS Lebra in the Asiatic-Pacific Theater. He received his Honorable Discharge on May 10, 1946. He was a life member of the American Legion, Creller-Landon Post 60 of Alburgh and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 9653 in Morrisville.
In addition to his wife Norma of 58 years, Lawrence leaves three children: Diana Rockwell of Bowling Green, Ky., Barbara Letourneau of Alburgh and Michael Letourneau, his wife Kim, and their two children, Ethan Michael and Zackary Thomas all of Ashland, Va.; one sister, Loretta Smith of Champlain, N.Y.; a brother, James Letourneau of Alburgh; as well as many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Carl and Norman “Pat” Letourneau.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 7, 2006, at 1 p.m. from the Union Bible Church, Main Street, Alburgh Village. The Reverend Doctor John C. Kehoe will officiate. Interment with full military honors will follow in the Letourneau family lot in Bush Cemetery. Relatives and friends may call at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton on Friday morning prior to the funeral from 10 a.m. until 12 noon.

RONALD E. LUMBRA
RICHFORD - Ronald E. Lumbra, age 62, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, April 3, 2006, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans. He was born in Richford, Oct. 23, 1943, the son of the late Roger and Hildred (Whitehead) Lumbra.
Ron was a U.S Army veteran during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Purple Heart. Following his honorable discharge he was employed at Sweat Comings Furniture Company until their closing. Presently he was employed at Wetherby’s Sunoco Quick Stop in Richford. He was a member of the American Legion Post 12 in Richford.
He is survived by a brother and his wife, Richard and Jean Lumbra of Eden; two sisters, Virginia Dulude of Enosburg Falls, and Penny Terkanian and her husband, Gregory of Biloxi, MS.; a sister-in-law, Margaret Lumbra of Richford; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Roger Lumbra Jr.; and a brother-in-law, Jerry Dulude.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 8, 2006, at 11 a.m. at the Spears Funeral Home, 140 Main St., Richford. Interment will follow in the All Saints Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the hour of the funeral.

LILLIAN S. FAVREAU
DEERFIELD BEACH, Fla. / RICHFORD, Vt. - Lillian S. Favreau, age 87, beloved wife for 52 years of the late Gaetan Favreau, passed away Wednesday, March 29, 2006, at Philadelphia House in Spring Hill, Fla.
She was born Oct. 13, 1918, in Shawinigan Falls, Quebec Canada, the youngest of 11 children to the late Hilaire and Mary (Boisvert) Despres.
She married Gaetan at the age of 21, had two children and ran a General Store in Dunham, Quebec Canada before moving to Hartford, Conn. in 1956. There they raised their children, became grandparents, and were active members of the community for 26 years. In 1982, Lillian and Gaetan retired to Deerfield Beach, Fla.
She is survived by her children: Micheline Sprinczeles and her husband, Steven of Spring Hill, Fla., and Jean (John) Pierre Favreau and his wife, Diane of Marlborough, Conn.; her beloved grandchildren: Nicole Fleming and her husband Robert, Kurt Metzger, Jean Pierre Favreau Jr., and Mark Favreau; her great-grandchildren: Megan, Katherine and Ross Fleming, and Andrew, Justin and Christian Favreau; her sister, Mary Jane Bessette of Franklin, Vt.; a sister-in-law, Simone Fontaine of Montreal, Que. Canada; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by several siblings.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 7, 2006, at 11 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church in Richford, Vt. with Reverend Frank Eksterowicz celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
A time of visitation will be held Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the Spears Funeral Home, 140 Main St., Richford, Vt.

NORMAN ASHLEY BISHOP, SR.
ST. ALBANS - Norman Ashley Bishop Sr., 86, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, March 30, 2006, at his home. He was born in Burlington on April 11, 1919, the son of the late Arthur Dale and Martha L. (Gentley) Bishop. On Aug. 20, 1949, in Fairfield, he married Phyllis Girard, who predeceased him on Nov. 10, 2001.
Mr. Bishop served his country for seven years during World War II in the Pacific Theatre as an Officer and Navy Aviator. He graduated in Civil Engineering from the University of Vermont and was a Registered Professional Engineer. Mr. Bishop served at the University of Vermont as Director of Architectural Engineering Services for over 25 years, until his retirement in 1986. He oversaw many of the large construction and renovation projects at the modern U.V.M. Other memorable engineering work included the large cuts and excavations for I-89 and I-91 at White River Junction. Earlier, he worked many years as civil structural engineer for the Central Vermont Railway and the Canadian National Railroad.
Mr. Bishop was active in the St. Albans community as a communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where he served on the Parish Council for many years. He was a charter member of Hardack, Inc., where he helped layout the rope tow and designed and constructed the ski jumps (now removed). He was active with the Boy Scouts of America and the American Society of Civil Engineers and was also a member of Green Mountain Post 1, American Legion and Robert E. Glidden Post 758, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
His friends will remember him as an active skier, outdoors man, and sports enthusiast and he snow and slalom water-skied up until the age of 75. He loved his family, the State of Vermont, playing cards and the many family times at Camp at Lake Eden during the summer, and watching his granddaughters play basketball.
Survivors include a son, Norman A. Bishop Jr. of Naperville, Ill., and his wife Eva, their children, Alexis, Sheila, Andrew, and Julie Lynn, and her husband Sebring and their son Alexander; a son, Christopher D. Bishop of South Burlington, Vt. and his wife, Janet and their children, Michael, JoAnna, William, and Caitlyn; a daughter, Kathy B. Lindsay of Atlanta, Ga. and her husband, Jack. He was predeceased by a daughter, Mary A. Bishop on Dec. 13, 2000; and an infant son, William in 1950. He also leaves a son-in-law, William Scott Dazey of Centennial, Colo. and their daughter, Lauren. He is also survived by his sister, Carolyn Emerson and her husband, Bob of Richmond. He is predeceased by his sisters, Martha Constance, Frances Ruth, and Nancy Ann. He is also survived by his sister-in-law and her husband, Elizabeth “Becky” and Charles Reed of Swanton; a brother-in-law and his wife, Lawrence and Carol Girard of Essex Junction, and several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Bishop wished to especially remember Pauline Tessier and Maureen Kendall, whose home support allowed his independent living. He also wanted to remember his special extended family and friends, including: Michael and Dana Cassidy, the Jennings family, Michael and Nancy Spinelli, Louisa Rushford, Jim and Pauli Pembrook, Herb and Reatha Mitchell and family, the Begnoche family, Norm and Monique Morway, David Farrington Sr., and many friends in Franklin County and at Lake Eden.
The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at 11 a.m. in St. Mary’s Catholic Church. Interment will be in June in the family lot at Berlin Corners Cemetery.

Visitation will be on Monday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St.
PHILLIP BROOKS HAYDEN
GEORGIA - Phillip Brooks Hayden, 71, a lifelong area resident, passed away at his home on Friday, March 31, 2006, following a long illness. He was born in Georgia on April 3, 1934, the son of the late Earl and Bertha (Byrd) Hayden. On Dec. 27, 1957, in Georgia, he married the former Joyce H. Sweeney, who survives him.
Phil was a 1952 graduate of Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans and worked most of his life as a farmer and carpenter. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict serving with the United States Air Force. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed gardening, raising beef cows, cutting wood and long walks in the woods. His greatest pride and joy was his grandson, Nick, with whom he spent countless hours
Besides his wife of 48 years, Joyce of Georgia, he is survived by two sons: Randy Hayden and his companion, Susan Reynolds and her son, Jake of Grand Isle, and Brian Hayden and his wife Lisa of Georgia; a daughter, Debbie Hayden of Georgia; a grandson, Nick Hayden of Georgia; a brother, Nate Hayden and his wife, Carol of Hyde Park; and his mother-in-law, Georgina Sweeney of Georgia. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by a brother, Gerald Hayden in June of 1986.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 5, 2006, at 11 a.m. in the Georgia United Methodist Church with Pastor Sam Newton officiating. Friends may call on Tuesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St., St. Albans.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Vermont, 100 Dorset St., Suite 14, South Burlington, Vt. 05403.
The Heald Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
DAVID P. DAVIS
SWANTON - A Celebration of Life and Resurrection was held Friday evening, March 31, 2006, at 6 p.m. from the Memorial United Methodist Church. The Reverend Donavee Copenhaver officiated. Music was provided by organist and soloist, Mary Jo Gillilan. Special Words of Remembrance were shared by David’s sisters, Amy and Kelly Davis, as well as friends and associates, Heather Cota, Bryce Lamphere, Gary Campbell, Sean Farrell, Jennifer Wells, Leland Lampman, and Tom Rafuse.
Among the delegations in attendance were representatives from: Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream, T. J. Max, Swanton Rexall, Northwestern Medical Center, AmCare Ambulance Service, United States Marshall Service, Swanton and Highgate Recreation Departments, Missisquoi Valley Union High School, Tyco, retired associates of the former Central Vermont Railroad and Tabors Point neighbors.
The Honorary Bearer was Ben Thibodeau. The Active Bearers were Kris Richards, Gary Campbell, Alan Aiken, Leland Lampman, John Arooth Jr., Sean Farrell, Tom Rafuse and Damien Corbin.
Following the services a Bereavement Luncheon was served for family and friends at the American Legion, Green Mountain Post 1, St. Albans.
HUNTER JOHN PAUL GAGNON
WEST SHORE ALBURGH / SWANTON - Funeral Services were held Saturday evening, April 1, 2006, at 7 p.m. from the Kidder Memorial Home. The Reverend Herman Benjamin, pastor of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, St. Albans City officiated.
Special Words of remembrance were shared by Hunter’s grandmother, Donna Gagnon, aunt, Sheena Gagnon, as well as family friends, Charles Brace and Shanna Davenport.
Among the delegations in attendance were representatives from: Champlain Island Parent Child Center, St. Albans Family Center, Visiting Nurse Association, Office of Dr. Stewart Manchester and the Office of Dr. Peter Bingham.
The Active Bearers were Hunter’s grandfather, Paul Gagnon; and family friend, Charles Brace.
Interment will take place later at the Barratt family lot in Riverside Cemetery, Swanton.
REGINA L. REYNOLDS
SWANTON - A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Mrs. Regina L. Reynolds on Thursday at 11 a.m. in The Church of the Nativity. Father John Meagher, S.S.E., was the principal celebrant, concelebrating with Father Maurice Boucher, S.S.E., pastor of St. Amadeus Church in Alburgh, St. Joseph Church in Isle La Motte and Director of St. Anne’s Shrine. Yvette Ouimet was the Eucharistic Server.
Altar servers were great-grandsons, Brian and Brady Howrigan, assisted by John Tougas. The funeral pall was placed on Regina’s casket by her daughters, Donna Jones, Aleta Nichols, Candace Brady and Wendy Mitchell. The Crucifix was placed on the pall by daughters, Cheryl Spaulding and Deborah Doig. The Holy Scripture Lessons were read by granddaughters, Stacy Bruyns and Cari Howrigan. Granddaughter, Marybeth Nicholas, was the soloist, accompanied by organist and soloist Mary Jo Gillilan. Offertory Gifts were presented by Regina’s brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Betty Langevin.
The prayers honoring a member of the Ladies of St. Anne were read by Yvette Ouimet and fond words of remembrance by son-in-law, Bruce Spaulding, were read by his daughter, Stacy Bruyns.
A guard of honor was present from the Ladies of St. Anne and the Altar Society of The Church of the Nativity. Also, an honor guard was in attendance from Missisquoi Valley Rescue. Attending were representatives of Northwestern Medical Center, Haven Health Care Center, Franklin County Probate Court, Canterbury Council of the Knights of Columbus, Swanton town and village officials, Swanton Rexall, Ray’s Die and Tubing, Bellows Free Academy Athletic Department, Mylan Industries, U.P.S. Supply Chain Solutions and the Gramma and Grampa’s Singing Group.
Honorary and Active Bearers were Regina’s grandchildren, Loren Spaulding, Darcy LeClair, Corey Mitchell, Heather Doig, Jacy Lunna, Jason Spaulding, Ian Doig, Kevin Nichols, Allen Brady and Trevor Mitchell.
Following Prayers of Committal by Father Meagher and Father Boucher, interment was in the Reynolds family lot in St. Mary’s Cemetery. The family and friends shared refreshments in the Parish Center, hosted by Rita Ferland and the parish family.
Wednesday evening, Father Meagher held a Christian Wake Service with Regina’s family and friends in the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.
MARIE-PAULE (GAUVIN) MENARD
NORWICH - Mrs. Marie-Paule (Gauvin) Menard, 86 years old, a well-known (retired) business woman in St. Albans and in the Farnham area, Quebec, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2006 at 4:05 p.m. in her Norwich/Hartford, Vt. home, surrounded by members of her family.
Mrs. Menard was born in l’Ange-Gardien (Rouville), Quebec, Canada on July 17, 1919. She was the daughter of the late Alcide Gauvin and of the late Leonida Messier; she married the late Roch Menard.
She leaves behind her two bereaving sons, Denis (husband of Diane Lussier) of Gatineau, Quebec, Canada and Andre (husband of Kathy Barnhart) of Norwich, Vt.; five grandchildren: Lise, Jean-Denis, Mathieu, Mikayla and Katrina, and four great-grandchildren: Jeremie, Alex and Jordan Maheu [Lise] and Eve Menard [Jean-Denis]. She also leaves behind one sister, Marie-Jeanne (wife of Jean-Claude Fleury) of Granby, Quebec; and several sisters- and brothers-in-law, nieces and nephews.
The Menard family wishes to express a special “thank you” to all the members of the “Valley Terrace Assisted Living” facility for the excellent quality of their services and for the personal and particular attention they provided to Mrs. Menard during the four years she spent with them. They are also grateful to the infirmary and medical personnel of the “Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center” of Lebanon, N.H., for the excellent care given to Mrs. Menard.
At her request, Mrs. Menard’s remains will be cremated. The ashes will then be taken to St. Mary’s Church located at 45 Fairfield St. in St. Albans where the family will gather at noon to meet with those who wish to visit and later participate, at 1 p.m., in a Eucharist celebration honoring the life of Mrs. Menard.
Internment will take place in the family plot located in St. Mary’s Cemetery in St. Albans.
