ARONSON -- Ruth Flax Aronson. Beloved wife and best friend of Richard Aronson. Passed away May 2, 2001, in New York City after a long and valiant battle with cancer. She will be sorely missed by her colleagues at the Rogosin Institute, where she was employed for her entire professional career.

PITTSFIELD -- Lawrence E. Fleming, 84, formerly of Connecticut Avenue, died Monday at Berkshire Medical Center. He had resided at Hillcrest Commons for six years. Born in Pittsfield on Aug. 10, 1916, son of Lawrence C. and Charlotte Mountain Fleming, he attended Dalton schools.

PITTSFIELD -- Josephine Talarico, 94, a native of Pittsfield, died April 30 at the Santa Teresita Nursing Home in Duarte, Calif., where she had resided for 10 years. Born in Pittsfield on July 21, 1906, daughter of Pasquale and Antonetta Rabasca Metallo, she attended local schools.

TRUDEAU -- Eugene A. Trudeau passed away April 11, 2001, in Chester. He was the beloved husband for 52 years of Louise Rice Trudeau, father of James H. Trudeau, grandfather of Sarah Marie Trudeau, and brother of John W. Trudeau.

Dorothy Laird Canfield, 100, formerly of Arlington, Vt., died Tuesday, June 18, 2002, at Sweet Brook Care Centers in Williamstown after a long illness. Born in Monterrey, Mexico, she was the daughter of George and Alice Laird.
John H. Gravel Jr., 82, Owned Williamstown Roofing Co.
John H. Gravel Jr, 82, who formerly owned the Williamstown Roofing Co., died June 19 at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield after a short illness. Born in Brandon, Vt., Sept. 1, 1919, he was the son of John and Emily (Johnson) Gravel. He received his early education in schools in grafton and Hoosick Falls, NY, and at the Little Red Schoolhouse in South Williamstown. A decorated U.S. Army veteran of World War II, he saw action in the southern Philippines and New Guinea. His first wife, Rose H. Jeffers, whom he married in 1939, died in 1977. His second, Madeleine Ouellette, whom he married in 1978, died in 1986. And his third, Lucille Bisson, whom he married in 1987, died in 2000. In his earlier years, he had been employed at the S. Morin Roofing Co. in North Adams. He founded the Williamstown Roofing Co. in 1964, operating it until his retirement in 1985, and, afterward, continuing to work there part time. For the past 22 years, he had spent winters in Florida. He was a member of St. Raphael's Church, Williamstown, and of the Richard A. Ruether Post #152 American Legion. He enjoyed restoring antique cars, especially Model A Fords, and he was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox. He leaves a son, John J. Gravel of Williamstown; three grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren, and a sister, Orinda Jones of North Bennington, Vt. The funeral was Monday with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Patrick's Church, with the Rev. William Cyr, pastor, officiating. Burial with military honors was in Eastlawn Cemetery. Yvonne Cormier, 94, of Williamstown.
Yvonne Cormier, 94, of Langlois Ave., Williamstown, died June 19 at Williamstown Commons after a short illness. A Williamstown resident since 1978, Mrs. Cormier was born in Naperville, Quebec, Feb. 16, 1908, the daughter of Adjutor and Eliza (Bouchard) Remillard. She was educated in the Champlain, N.Y., schools, and moved to North Adams in 1923. She worked at the former Beaver Mill in North Adams, and later for the former Sprague Electric Co. An enthusiastic cook and gardener, Mrs. Cormier was particularly noted for raising strawberries. Her first husband, Ellsworth Griffin, died in 1954. She leaves her husband, Edgar Cormier, whom she married in 1956, of Sweet Brook Care Center, Williamstown; a daughter, Hilda Haig of Williamstown; a sister, Loretta Garand, and a brother, Norman Remillard, both of North Adams; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a great-great-granddaughter. Private funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations may be made to the National Shrine of St. Jude, or to the Berkshire Humane Society, through the George M. Hopkins funeral home, 61-67 Spring St., Williamstown MA 01267. Dingena van Luling, 84, Homemaker Dingena (van der Blom) van Luling, 84, of 87 Water St., died June 18 at North Adams Regional Hospital. Born in Holland Feb. 14, 1918, she was the daughter of Bartholomeus and Dingena (Verhoeven) van der Blom. She attended schools in Holland, immigrating in 1950 to the United States and settling in Williamstown. She was a longtime member of the First Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and was active in the Women's Society and other church activities. She was a member of the Friendship Club at the Harper Center, and she enjoyed music and crafts. Her husband Jan Dirk van Luling, whom she married June 12, 1946 in Holland, died in 2000. She leaves six sons, Bart van Luling and Peter van Luling, both of Williamstown; John van Luling of Smithfield, R.I., Dirk van Luling of Concord, N.H., Christopher van Luling of Herndon, Va., and Robert van Luling of Gorham, Maine; a daughter, Dingena P. van Luling of Adams; 19 grandchildren; a sister, Corrie Goede, and a brother, Dirk van der Blom, both of Holland. The funeral was Saturday at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Wayne Earl officiating. Burial was in Eastlawn Cemetery. Ruth K. Ringer
Vergennes, Vermont
Ruth K. Ringer, 83, died at her home on Wednesday, September 29, 1999, after a long illness.
Mrs. Ringer was born on January 29, 1916 in Middlebury, Vermont, the daughter of Charles J. Remele and Alice (Baldwin) Remele. She married Roy Tucker, Sr. on June 14, 1936. He predeceased her on August 4, 1968. She married her second husband, Frederick C. Ringer, on July 11, 1981.
She was employed by Simmonds Precision for 24 years and retired in 1981. She was a member and past president of the American Legion Auxiliary Post # 14 in Vergennes, a member and past president of the Eagles Auxiliary Aerie No. 3801 in Vergennes and a member and past president of the St. Ann's Society of St. Peter's Parish in Vergennes.
Survivors include her second husband Frederick C. Ringer of Vergennes; a daughter, Connie Hobbs of Vergennes; two sons, Roy T. Tucker, Jr. of Bristol, Vermont and Charles J. Tucker of Vergennes. She is also survived by two sisters, Francis Adams of Bridport,Vermont and Marion LeBeau of Vergennes. She was predeceased by one brother, and three sisters. She is also survived by six stepchildren, Frederick Ringer of Essex Junction, Vermont, Mike Ringer of Colchester, Vermont, Patrick Ringer of New Jersey, Tony Ringer of Vergennes, LuAnne Mailloux of Ferrisburgh and Mary Essex of Vergennes.
She has eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, several step-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A mass of Christian burial was held on Saturday, October 2, 1999 at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Vergennes. Interment was in St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery in Vergennes following the service.

Gabrielle B. Bailey

Gabrielle Bolduc Bailey, 79, died August 22, 1999 in Clovis, New Mexico.
Mrs. Bailey was born in Canada on April 11, 1920. She was the daughter of Henry and Leoni (Lemeaurex) Bolduc. She received her early education in Bridport Schools. She had worked as a seamstress for many years at Van Raalte in Middlebury. She later worked at Abrams Department Store in Middlebury until her retirement. She was predeceased by her first husband Cyril LaFountain and her second husband Nelson Bailey died in 1986. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Middlebury.
Surviving is a daughter Claire Langdon of Clovis, New Mexico; two stepchildren, Laura Spellman of Rutland and Butch Bailey of Bridport; four sisters, Simone and Marcienne Malzac of Middlebury, Alice Boise of Bristol, Irene Boise of New Haven; three brothers Benoit Bolduc of Alabama, Denis Bolduc of Bridport and Gerald Bolduc of Cornwall, who passed away five days after she did. Five grandchildren; John Gero of Bristol, Brian Gero of Cornwall, Jana Hoban and Cheryl Morton, both of Clovis, New Mexico. She is also survived by ten great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by a sister Jean in 1942 and her son John LaFountain in 1955. She also leaves a very large extended family of nieces, nephews and cousins.
A memorial mass will be celebrated in July of 2000, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Middlebury. Burial of her Urn will follow. A gathering will follow the mass in celebration of her life.

Jane E. Howard Fiske

Jane Elizabeth Howard Fiske, 81, died Friday, October 1, 1999 at Porter Medical Center in Middlebury.
Ms. Fiske was born April 10, 1918 in Middlebury, the daughter of Frank E. and Edna (Prine) Howard. She attended the University of Vermont and Middlebury College, and received her Associate's Degree in 1987 from Champlain College. She married Hermon C. Fiske of Weybridge in 1936. Mr. Fiske predeceased her in 1982. She was most recently employed at the Middlebury College Art Department as Slide Curator.
She is survived by her children, Linda Fiske of Syracuse, New York; Judith Fiske of Cambridge, Massachusetts, Stephen Fiske and his wife Kelly of Essex Junction; six grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister.
A memorial service was held Tuesday, October 5, 1999 at the Middlebury Congregational Church. The Reverend David Andrews, Pastor, officiated.
