JANICE MAYNARD
ENOSBURG FALLS - Janice Maynard, 79, a longtime area resident, passed away at her home on Sunday, March 19, 2006, following a long illness. She was born in Waterbury, Vt., on Sept. 12, 1926, the daughter of the late J. William and Mabel (Jones) Maynard.

She was employed by the Missisquoi Pulp & Paper Mill in Sheldon Springs from 1944 through 1986. She was a founding member of the Enosburg Country Club, and an award-winning member of the Green Mountain Gladiolas Society.

Survivors include her best friend, Roberta Parry; and several cousins.

A Memorial Mass will be held in Janice's honor at 9 a.m. on April 6,

2006, at the St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Enosburg. There will be no visiting hours, and the interment in the family lot at the St. John the Baptist Cemetery will be private.

Arrangements are by the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St., St. Albans.

GEORGE S. BESSETTE, SR.
SWANTON - Mr. George S. Bessette Sr., age 87, died Friday, March 24, 2006, at the Northwestern Medical Center after a lengthy illness. He was born in Burlington, Feb. 15, 1919, son of the late Steven and Celeste Bessette.
He served his country during World War II in the Army National Guard. George married Elsie Tyrell, Sept. 5, 1949. He worked for many years in construction the J.J. Brennon Company. He was a past member of the American Legion Post 1.
He is survived by his wife, Elsie, and their children: George S. Bessette Jr. and his wife, Marsha of Colchester, Meddie Bessette and his wife, Georgia of Malletts Bay, Cheryl Phillips of Enosburg, Bernadette Scott of Highgate, Steven Bessette and his wife, Denise of Alburgh, Randy Bessette and his companion, Bobby Jo Lincoln of Plattsburgh, N.Y., Dore' Hoague and her husband, Lynford of Highgate, Candy Weeks and her husband, Edward of Milton, Todd Bessette of Bennington, Eric Bessette and his companion, Laura Laplant of Highgate, and Scott Bessette and his wife, Maria of Highgate; 34 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren; his sisters: Fredrica Clark of Virginia and Rita Dennos of Essex; and his brother, Larry Bessette of Burlington. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers, sisters and his sons-in-law, Tom Scott and Alan Philips.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, March 28, 2006, at 11 a.m. in Holy Angels Church. Interment will be in the Bessette family lot in Mount Calvary. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., St. Albans, from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.

DOROTHY LOUISE LeBEAU
HIGHGATE CENTER - Mrs. Dorothy Louise LeBeau, 86, a longtime Highgate Center resident, died Wednesday evening, March 22, 2006, at the Haven Health Center in St. Albans Town.

Born in St. Albans on July 31, 1919, she was the daughter of the late Royal and Cora (Raymond) Bushey. She attended the former St. Anne's Academy in Swanton and on April 16, 1942, was married to Alvin Edward LeBeau who predeceased her on Nov. 25, 1998. She was a parishioner of St. Louis Roman Catholic Church.

Mrs. LeBeau leaves her son, Larry and his wife, Debbie of Swanton; two grandchildren: Chief Petty Officer Michael LeBeau and his wife, Amy stationed with the United States Navy in Virginia Beach, Va. and Traci LeBeau of Manchester, N.H.; a great-granddaughter, Skyye LeBeau of Swanton; two sisters: Hazel Trahan and her husband, Napoleon of Connecticut and Evelyn Thibault and her husband, Charles 'Curley' of Swanton; three brothers: Ralph Bushey and his wife, Doris and Clifton Bushey, all of Swanton, and Donald Bushey and his wife, Helen of Bakersfield; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law: Catherine Bushey of Florida and Kathleen and Earl Mealins of Torrance, Calif.; as well as many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two sons: Gary and James; two brothers: Robert and Jerome; a sister, Delia Brouillette; and a sister-in-law, Dorothy Bushey.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, March 27, 2006, at 11 a.m. from St. Louis Roman Catholic Church, Lamkin Street, Highgate Center. Father John J. Meagher, SSE will be the celebrant and homilist. Interment will follow in the LeBeau family lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery, St. Albans City. Relatives and friends may call at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton on Sunday, March 26, 2006, from 6 to 9 p.m.

Gifts in Dorothy's memory may be made to Missisquoi Valley Rescue, P. O. Box 22, Swanton 05488; or to the Champlain Valley Agency on Aging, 1 Mill Street, Burlington 05401.

FERNANDE (FERN) J. LEDUC
SWANTON l Fern Leduc, loving mother, wife and caring friend to many, successfully completed her mission in life and passed into the portals of heaven into the arms of her Savior. She 'fought the good fight, finished the race and kept the faith.' Fern died peacefully at home on March 21, 2006, surrounded by her family, following a battle with cancer.

Fern was born in St. Albans on Nov. 21, 1928. She was the youngest daughter of the late Alma (Chevalier) and Oliva Lanoue. She has two siblings: her sister, Giselle (Lucille) Tatro of Southwick, Mass. and brother, Paul Lanoue of Morfelden, Germany. Additionally she had four half-siblings, who have gone on before her: Germaine Bilodeau, Beatrice Fountaine, Maurice Lanoue, all of St. Albans, and Father John Lanoue of St. Michael's College.

She leaves behind Andrew, her husband of 57 years. Together they raised a family of four children. The surviving family members are Elaine Sweatt and her husband, Wendel, who reside in Fairfax, Vt., George Leduc and wife, Cindy of Loudon, N.H., Kathy Warble and husband, Ron of Oviedo,

BURTON B. DONNA, SR.
ENOSBURG FALLS - Burton B. Donna Sr., 77, a resident of the Riverview Apartments in Enosburg Falls, died on Thursday evening, April 27, 2006, at Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.

Burton was born on Aug. 17, 1928, in Montgomery, Vt., the son of Beeman and Margaret (Chalifoux) Donna. He attended school in Montgomery and served in the U.S. Army from 1948 to 1950. He was married to Pearl (Eldred) Donna, who died on July 30, 1980.

A logger for most of his life, Burton had also worked on road construction and as a truck driver. He was employed at Sweat-Comings in Richford for a period of time. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing poker and cribbage and especially enjoyed music. He played the piano, fiddle, and guitar.

Burton is survived by his children and their spouses: Burton Jr. and Sarah Donna of Richford, Doris Wright of Richford, Daniel Sr. and Rose Donna of Montgomery, Randy and Penny Donna of East Berkshire and Brian and Darlene Donna of Newport Center, Vt.; his grandchildren: Michelle Carvoo, Marlena Price, Burton Donna III, Benjamin Johnson, Jonathon Johnson, Daniel Donna Jr., Cynthia Tardiff, Jason Donna Sr., Teri Lynn Donna, Ryan Donna, Christina Stetson, Brandon Bennett, Melissa Donna, Shawn Domina, Gary Domina Jr. and Eric Holmes; many great-grandchildren; his brother, Robert Donna of Highgate; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, May 1, at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Richford with Pastor Lyle Willey officiating. Interment with military honors will follow in the Riverside Cemetery in Swanton. Friends may call at the church on Monday from 12 noon until the time of the service.

Should friends desire, gifts in Burton’s memory may be made to the Enosburg Ambulance Service, 83 Sampsonville Rd., Enosburg Falls, Vt. 05450.

Burton’s family wishes to extend a special thanks to Shirley Taylor and his friends at the Riverview Apartments for their care, concern and friendship

LORETTA W. SAMPSON
GEORGIA / ST. ALBANS - Mrs. Loretta W. Sampson, age 74, died Sunday morning, Feb. 12, 2006, in the Fletcher Allen Health Care Center following a brief illness. She was born in Fairfield, Oct. 31, 1931, daughter of the late Henry and Ruth (Underwood) Sears.

On Oct. 30, 1952, she married Aime Sampson. Besides her husband Aime, of over 53 years, Loretta is survived by her daughter, Kathleen and her husband, Michael Gregoire of Georgia; her son, Robert Sampson and his companion, Heather Ferguson of Arlington, Mass.; her brother, Marshall and his wife, Eleanor Sears of Georgia; sisters-in-law: Irene Sears of Georgia, Beverly Samson of North Adams, Mass., and Theresa Smart of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews. Her life was prolonged by having a special grandson, Darik Gregoire. Loretta was predeceased by her son, Stephen in May of 1978; and by her brother, Darwin Sears; and brother-in-law, Rolland Samson.

Interment will be tomorrow, April 28, 2006, at 10 a.m. in the Sampson family lot in St. Albans Bay Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home and Commemorative Services.

SISTER ROLANDE ST. DENIS
Sister Rolande St. Denis, 93, of the Sisters of Holy Cross, died on April 9, 2006, at her residence, the Holy Cross Health Center, in Manchester, N.H. A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on April 11, 2006, in Manchester.

She was born on July 4, 1912, to Alcide and Clara (Ferland) St. Denis on their farm in Georgia, Vt. The family moved to Edward Street in St. Albans City in 1918 where Rolande attended Holy Angels School and graduated from its commercial class. She entered the religious order, whose members had taught her at Holy Angels, in 1938 and earned a Bachelor’s degree in education from Notre Dame College in Manchester. Sister Rolande taught elementary classes at several parishes in New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Connecticut. Following her teaching career, she served as a librarian for 12 years at Notre Dame College.

Sister Rolande was predeceased by brothers, Urgel and Joseph; and by sisters, Rita Gillespie, Alcina Thibault and Edwilda O’Brien. She is survived by 15 nieces and nephews, and several cousins.

Memorial donations may be made to Sisters of Holy Cross Development Fund, care of Sisters of Holy Cross, 377 Island Pond Rd., Manchester, N.H. 03109.

PAUL WILLIAM SILVA
SWANTON - Paul William Silva, 81, a longtime resident of Gallup Court in Swanton Village, died early Sunday evening, April 23, 2006, at the Haven Health Care Center in St. Albans Town.

Born in Lowell, Mass. on Oct. 9, 1924, he was the son of the late Paul and Gertrude (Cronin) Silva. He attended schools in Lowell and was married to the former Madeline Mae Bouchard, who survives him.

For 32 years Paul was associated with the Vermont Department of Corrections beginning in 1957 at the former Windsor State Prison and retiring in 1990 as Chief of Security for the Northwest Correctional Facility in St. Albans Town. He was a member of the Vermont State Employees Union.

He faithfully served his country in the Merchant Marines during World War II and was a member of the American Legion Green Mountain Post 1 of St. Albans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Charles DaPrato Post 778 in Swanton.

Paul was a devoted parishioner of The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Swanton and often attended Mass and volunteered at both St. Amadeus Roman Catholic Church in Alburgh and St. Anne’s Shrine Isle La Motte. He was a very active Fourth Degree Member of the Knights of Columbus, St. Edmund of Canterbury Council 2207 of Swanton was a past Faithful Navigator and Vermont State District Deputy.

Besides his wife Madeline of Swanton, Paul leaves three daughters: Joan Olsen of Swanton, Tari Scott and husband, David of Barnet and Madeline Dayer and husband, Rob of Baudette, Minn.; one son, Roger Silva and his wife, Lynne of Burlington; a sister, Theresa Nutter of Lowell, Mass.; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by a son, Anthony Paul “Tony” Silva on Aug. 12, 2004; and four brothers: Wilfred, Frederick, Francis and Joseph Silva.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, May 1, 2006, at 11 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 65 Canada St., Swanton. Father Maurice U. Boucher, SSE will be the celebrant and homilist. Interment will follow in the Silva family lot in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery. Calling hours will be private.

Gifts in Paul’s memory may be made to the Northwestern Medical Center Charitable Giving, in care of, Community Relations, P.O. Box 1370, St. Albans 05478.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton 05488.

GEORGE E. ROCHELEAU
ST. ALBANS - Mr. George E. Rocheleau, age 87, died Monday, April 24, 2006, at his home after a lengthy illness. He was born March 21, 1919, in St. Albans, son of the late Onile “Louis” and Adeline (Nichols) Rocheleau.

He married Harriet Mulheron, Feb. 16, 1941. Mrs. Rocheleau pre deceased him in 2002.

George worked for the Central Vermont Railway for 38 years retiring in 1979 as a conductor. He was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 1090, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary unit 758. He will be best remembered for his French Fry Wagon he operated on Kingman Street and the concession stand at the ball parks. He loved working with his construction business, socializing with his community, and playing games with the family friends. He loved cards, croquet, shuffleboard and pool. He was always anxious for anyone to come over so he could tease them when he won.

Dad had a vast knowledge about a variety of things and was always there to help out with his children’s questions...right or wrong. He will be missed by all and especially by the morning coffee crew. It was always so comforting to gather around the kitchen table with the “Don” of the family.

George’s family would like to extend their sincere thanks to Dr. Christian Thomas and his staff, and Franklin County Home Health, for their care and support.

He is survived by his children and their spouses: John and Anna Rocheleau of Swanton, Linda and Hank Gadouas of St. Albans, Steven and Janice Rocheleau of Fairfax, Thomas and Linda Rocheleau of St. Albans; 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; a brother, Ernest Rocheleau and his wife, Trudy of St. Albans; sisters: Corita Cadieux and her husband, Roger of Georgia, Corrine Rocheleau and Rita Sweeney and her husband, Wayne, all of St. Albans. Besides his wife Harriet, he was predeceased by his parents; sisters, Hortense Levesque, Cecile Deslauriers, and Yvonne Vock; and brothers, Omer and Alfred Rocheleau.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, April 29, 2006, at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Catholic Church. There will be no visiting hours. Interment will be in the Rocheleau family lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials may be to the Franklin County Home Health Agency, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, Vt. 05478. An online condolence book has been established for his family at the Brady & Levesque Web site: www.bnlfh.com.

QUINTO ‘JACK’ ALBERTELLI
ST. ALBANS - Mr. Quinto J. “Jack” Albertelli, age 89, died Tuesday, April 25, 2006, in the Haven Health Care Facility.

He was born in New York City, N.Y., July 20, 1916, son of the late Giovanni and Josephine (Nuvionne) Albertelli. He served in the U. S. Army for 24 years during both World War II and the Korean Wars. He retired from the military as a Chief Warrent Officer in 1958. He then worked in maintenance at the Windsor State Prison for 3 ˝ years before coming to St. Albans. He was a mechanic and equipment operator at the Public Works Department for the City of St. Albans for 15 years, retiring in 1978.

As a person who liked to fix things, he spent many hours helping others. He was a communicant of Holy Angels Church, a member and active with the Bingo Committee of the Owl Club, a member of the American Legion, Post 1, V.F.W. Post 758, Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 1090 and the Retired U. S. Army Officers Association. He was a former member of the Owl Club.

March 1, 1941, he married Alice Helen Thibault. She died June 9, 1997.

He is survived by his three daughters: Helen Dempsey and her partner in life, Syd Ayers of Melbourne, Fla., Sandra Rich of Swanton, Gail Albertelli of St. Albans; two sons: Richard and his wife, Maxine Albertelli of Lilburn, Ga., Quinto John Albertelli Jr. of St. Albans; 12 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren; his sister, Lena Pedraita of Glen Cove, N.Y.; sisters-in-law: Adelle Albertelli of Hyde Park, N.Y., Beverly Beyor of Highgate, and Helen Thibault of Nashua, N.H. He was predeceased by his wife Helen; his parents; son-in-law, Leonard Rich; brothers and sisters: Bruno, Geno, Hugo, Anthony, Rita, and Mary Albertelli.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, April 29, 2006, at 2 p.m. in Holy Angels Church. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., St. Albans, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow (Friday).
