GUY A. LARIVEE
ENOSBURG - Guy A. Larivee, age 86, passed away Wednesday morning, Jan. 11, 2006, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans with hisloving family by his side.
He was born Aug. 4, 1919, in Richford, the son of the late Arthur and Bessie (Crickx) Larivee.
Guy was a resident of Enosburg Falls most of his life and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. He worked as a dairy farmer until 1965 at which time he began working at Franklin County Cheese until his retirement in 1979. During his retirement he worked with his son Larry at the Enosburg Falls Country Club from 1994 to the fall of 2003. He enjoyed working in the woods, puttering with heavy equipment, working with antique engines and taking them to antique shows to show them off, and tinkering in his workshop. Along with his wife Elaine, they enjoyed traveling and camping and had the opportunity to travel around the United States and also Europe. Most of all he loved his family and spending time with them.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of 61 years, Elaine (Mayo) Larivee. They were married on Sept. 19, 1944. He is also survived by his children and their spouses: Larry and Mary Larivee of East Berkshire, Ronald and Sandra Larivee of Enosburg Falls, Lynette and Mark Vaillancourt of West Enosburg, Sally and Richard Delorme of Orlando, Fla., Randall and Connie Larivee of Greenwich, N.Y., Patricia and Pierre Boudreau of Enosburg, and Diane and Greg Bigby of Reno, Nev.; 20 grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren; one sister, Ruby Gilbert of Somersworth, N.H.; three brothers and their wives: Ross and Louise Larivee of Newport, Arthur and Theresa Larivee of Franklin, and David and Betty Larivee of Enosburg Falls; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by two brothers, Orville and Stanley Larivee; two sisters, Cecile Longe and Freida Parent.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006, at 10 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Enosburg Falls with Rev. Benedict Kiely celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held Friday evening from 6 to 9 at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.

VINCENT B. CHALOUX
ST. ALBANS - A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Mr. Vincent “Vinnie” Chaloux on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in Holy Angels Church. Father Leonidas Laroche, pastor of St. Mary’s Church, was the celebrant. He was assisted by Deacon Duane Langlois. Altar servers were Normand Blouin and Robert Brodeur. Sister Cecile LeBeau read the Holy Scripture Lessons. Deacon Langlois was the Homilist. Mary Jo Gillilan was the organist and soloist. Vinnie’s employer, Kurt Valenta, shared fond words of remembrance with the large congregation.
A guard of honor was formed by the American Legion, Green Mountain Post 1. Attending were representatives of The American Legion, Veterans of Foreign Wars, Waterville Church of the Nazarene, St. Albans Dart League, Simport Plastics, Vestshell of Vermont, P.B.M. Nutritionals, Bellows Free Academy Athletic Department, several class members of BFA, including his classmates of 1980, St. Albans Lions Club, Zone 1 A of Vermont Lions, Northwest Farmers Market, Linda’s Pub, Chesters-in-the-Square, Fairfield Town Clerk and Town Officials, St. Albans Co-operative Creamery, many area dairy farms, Hungerford Insurance, Howrigan Real Estate, Dufault Construction, Handy’s Auto Dealerships, Law Office of Timothy Hawkins, Ray’s Extruder Die Service and S.B. Collins, Inc.
The active bearers were his brother, Todd Chaloux; brother-in-law, Kevin Kane; friends Rob Provasi, David Boren, Jason Domey and Tom Tatro.
Following Prayers of Committal by Father Laroche and Deacon Langlois, the American flag was presented to Vinnie’s wife, Laurie Chaloux, by Curtis Brown, who represented the veteran’s organizations.
Tuesday evening Father Laroche and Deacon Langlois held a Christian Wake Service with Vincent’s family and friends, in the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.
CHESTER C. ‘CHET’ SWEET
ENOSBURG FALLS - Funeral services for Chester C. “Chet” Sweet of Sheldon Springs were held on Tuesday afternoon, Jan. 10, at the Spears Funeral Home in Enosburg Falls with Pastor Patrick Hoadley officiating. “Go Rest High On That Mountain” was offered as a special musical selection during the service. Several of those in attendance shared special memories of Chet with the congregation. Interment will take place in the spring in the East Franklin Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were Chet’s son Eric Sweet, his son-in-law John Morris and his nephews Eddie Sweet, Roland Sweet, Joseph Sweet, Mark Snider, Elvin Sweet and Danny Sweet.
Among those in attendance were people representing Head Start and Burlington Free Press carriers and route customers whom were served by Chet.
Chester C. Sweet, husband of Sharlene Sweet and a resident of Mill Street in Sheldon Springs, died on Friday, Jan. 6, at his home at the age of 59.
VERA M. (MONTGOMERY) EMCH
ENOSBURG - Vera M. (Montgomery) Emch, age 85, passed away Saturday, Jan. 7, 2006, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans. Vera lived for several years at the Riverview Apartments, and the Brownway Residence in Enosburg Falls. Most recently she has been a resident at Haven Health in St. Albans.
Born in Fairfield, Vt. on April 19, 1920, she was the 3rd of 16 children born to Dell and Lela (Derosier) Montgomery. She was the widow of Winthrop Emch to whom she was married of 54 years. They spent most of their years living and working on dairy farms.
Vera was the mother of six children, and enjoyed being a homemaker. She will be remembered for the world’s best homemade bread, and in particular, her fried bread, and the most delicious homemade donuts. She made all her children quilts, and also made her grandchildren baby blankets with embroidered pictures of various baby animals. She loved family and was always quick with a big smile. She was a member of the Enosburg Methodist Church, and the Tyler Branch Grange.
She was predeceased by her husband, Winthrop Emch on Sept. 23, 1992; brothers, Merriman, Wendell, Alton, Oakley, Wayne, Phillip, Robert, and Frederick; sisters, Beatha and Bernice; granddaughter, Tanya Barnett; and grandsons, Dellman Emch and Winthrop Arnold.
Vera is survived by her daughter, Eileen Arnold of Canaan, Conn., and her friend, Larry Casey; son, Winthrop “Crow” Emch and daughter-in-law, Barbara of Sheldon; son Donald Emch and daughter-in-law, Charlotte of Windsor Locks, Conn.; daughter Marilyn Mansfield and son-in-law. Gary of Lakeville, Mass.; daughter Patsy Barnett and son-in-law, Patrick of Canton, Conn.; and son, Reginald Emch and daughter-in-law, Lynda of South Burlington, Vt. Vera is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Melody, Jason, Shana, Donald, Christopher, Tyler, Michael, Thomas, Aaron and Sarah, and 11 great-grandchildren: Benjamin, Kasey, Brianna, Jacquelyn, Emma, Cameron, Rachel, Michael, Brandon, Cody and Maximilian. She is also survived by her sisters: Phyllis Robarge of Richford, Ruth Randall of Cambridge, Janet Wells, and brother-in-law, Kenneth of Sheldon, Elizabeth “Betty” Neveau and her friend, Wayne Kennedy of Enosburg, and Jacqueline McDonald and brother-in-law, Robert of Tilton, N.H.; also many nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning, Jan. 13, 2006, at 11 at the West Enosburg Methodist Church with Pastor Cheryl Heater officiating. Interment will be next spring in Sheldon Village Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday evening from 6 to 9 at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.

WILLIAM THOMAS COUNOS, SR.
ST. ALBANS - William Thomas Counos Sr., left this earthly life on the morning of Jan. 9, 2006, loved and supported by his family at home. He was born in Burlington, Vt. on Feb. 5, 1924, son of Thomas W. and Blanche (Swain) Counos, and has lived in St. Albans, Vt. since 1940.
He graduated from Burlington High School in the class of 1943, and also attended Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans. He graduated from the Infantry O.C.S. in 1945 in Fontainebleau, France.
He served in the Army during World War II from 1943-45 and served overseas with the 2nd Armored Division. He participated in the Normandy Invasion having landed on Omaha Beach, June 9, 1944. He was in five (5) major campaigns in Europe, including the Battle of the Bulge, and was awarded the Purple Heart Medal in Germany. He was also awarded the Belgian Croix de Guerre. He was separated from the service in 1945. Later, Lt. Counos served during the Korean War from 1950-1952 as Exec. Officer of a tank company in the 172nd Infantry Regiment in Munich, Germany.
He served as Post Commander of the American Legion, Green Mountain Post No. 1, St. Albans, Vt. in 1963, and served the Department of Vermont American Legion as State Commander 1965-66. He was awarded a Life Membership in the American Legion for his outstanding service to the organization. He was a member of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in St. Albans where he served on the vestry and the church’s Senior Warden.
He was also a Life Member of the Elk’s Lodge No. 1566 in St. Albans, Vt. and a Life Member of the Military Order of Purple Heart. Other fraternal memberships include Franklin Lodge 4 F&AM where he was a member for over 50 years, and Mt. Sinai Temple 3, Shriners of Montpelier, Vt. He was a Past President of the Northern Vermont Shrine Club. He was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 758, St. Albans.
Mr. Counos owned and operated the Blue Lion Restaurant in St. Albans for over 25 years. He also was a Sales Representative for Cambridge Packing Co., Boston, Mass. for 22 years, and a Real Estate Appraiser with Bob Bliss, Ltd., in St. Albans for 14 years. He retired in 1993.
He married Barbara Bliss of Swanton, Vt. on Sept. 22, 1946, at the Swanton Methodist Church. Barbara died on April 15, 1993. On July 25, 1998, he married Louise Bellows of Fairfax, Vt. at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in St. Albans. Mr. Counos had three children: Cece Wick, Virginia Zaboronek and husband, Roman, and William T. Counos II, Esq., and wife Vicki. He also had nine grandchildren: Jeffrey Wick and wife, Elzy, Tyler Wick and wife, Hannah, Heather Wick, Roman Zaboronek II and wife, Susan, Jessica Twomey and husband Luke, Kyle Counos, Keeli Counos, Kelsey Counos and Korey Counos; three great-grandchildren: Abigail and Emma Zaboronek and Alexander Wick. He also has three step-grandchildren: Adam McAllister, Megan and Jeremy Martinson. He also had two stepdaughters, Nancy Martinson and husband, David and Joan McAllister and husband, Frank. He leaves one brother, George Counos and wife, Louise; and two sisters, Sophia C. Spencer and Anastasia C. Molaris and husband, Basil.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Jan. 12, at 11 a.m. at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Church Street, St. Albans. Visitation will be on Wednesday, Jan. 11, from 4 to 6 p.m. in the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St., St. Albans.

ROBERT JOSEPH RAINVILLE
ST. ALBANS - Mr. Robert Joseph Rainville, age 80, went peacefully to His Lord on Monday morning, Jan. 9, 2006, from Haven Health Care Center. “Bob” as he was fondly known, was born in St. Hyacynthe, Quebec, Canada on Sept. 25, 1925, son of the late Joseph and Cecilia (Bernard) Rainville. He was a dairy farmer all of his working life. He was a communicant of Holy Angels Church, a member of the Knights of Columbus, Council 297, and the Harbor Club.
His survivors include his 10 sisters and brothers and their spouses: Fernende Tougas of Swanton, Marie-Paul Langelier of Fairfax, Imelda and John Tougas of Swanton, Theresa Paquette of Jericho, Bernard Rainville of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., Paul and Lillian Rainville of Fairfield, Jean-Guy and Fernende Rainville, Gilles and Claudette Rainville, Jean-Louis and Cecile Rainville all of Fairfax, Larry and Lillian Rainville of South Hero; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brothers, Harvey and Gaston Rainville; and sisters, Madeline Quintin and Noella Rainville.
Bob’s family would like to express their most sincere gratefulness to the staff and management of Our Lady of the Meadows, in Richford, and the Haven Health Care Center, in St. Albans for the many years of special care the gave Bob.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Church. There will be no public calling hours. Interment will be in the Rainville family lot, next spring, in St. Luke’s Cemetery, in Fairfax.

MARGARIET A. PERRY
RICHFORD - Margariet A. Perry, age 86, passed away Friday evening, Dec. 23, 2005 at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.
She was born in Berkshire, Nov. 20, 1919, the daughter of the late Merrill and Gladys (Burt) Neveau.
Margariet was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who loved to lawn sale, crochet, quilt and spend time with her family. She married Edwin R. Perry on Oct. 31, 1939; he predeceased her July 22, 1984.
She is survived by her children: Roger R. Perry of Enosburg Falls, Audrey Perry and her companion, Stuart Patterson of Richford, Diane Ryea of Richford, and Dale Burns and her husband, Jim of Enosburg Falls; a sister, Evelyn Barnes and her husband, Clayton of Georgia; seven grandchildren: Dean Perry, Edwin P. Perry and his companion, Barb Benson, Lisa Johnson and her husband, Kurt, Regina Ryea and her companion, Brian Ladue, Marie Wetherby and her husband, Jason, Jean Stanislas and her husband, Normand, and Samuel M. Gendron Jr.; 10 great-grandchildren: Terrell Perry, Zander Rice, Nathan and Mitchell Johnson, Nicholas and Maegan Wetherby, Logan Stanislas, and McKenna Gendron, Angela Provost and Jessica Ryea; a special cousin, Margaret Sylva; and a special friend, Rose Carruth; as well as many nieces and nephews. Besides her parents and her husband she was predeceased by five brothers: Darwin, Everett, Wilfred, Wendell and Aubrey Neveau; five sisters: Muriel Greene, Marion Ryan, Linda Bruzzesi, Ethelyn Perry, and Shirley Winslow; and a son-in-law, Samuel M. Gendron Sr.
A memorial service was held Thursday afternoon, Dec. 29, at 2 at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls with Pastor Patrick Hoadley officiating. Interment followed in the West Enosburg Cemetery. A time of visitation was held at the funeral home Dec. 29 from 1 until the hour of the funeral.

JEAN LOUISE MCKEE
Jean Louise McKee, 79, died Sunday, Jan. 1, 2006, at St. Catherine Hospital, Garden City, KS.
She was born Aug. 28, 1926, in Malone, N.Y., to William Joseph McKee and Bernadette Finigan.
She graduated from Franklin Academy, Malone, N.Y. in 1944. In 1945, she graduated from Eastman Dental Dispensary, Rochester, N.Y. as a licensed dental hygienist. In 1949, she entered the convent as a member of the Congregation of Sisters of the Holy Cross. As a Holy Cross sister, she taught at parochial schools in Pennsylvania, Ohio, Texas, Indiana and New York. She attended college at St. Mary’s College, Notre Dame, IN and Dunbarton College, Washington D.C. She reentered the laity in 1974 and moved to St. Petersburg, Fla. and worked in nursing at Bay Pines Veteran’s Administration Hospital, Bay Pines, Fla. After retiring, she worked as a Foster Grandparent at Nina Harris Exceptional Student Education Center, Pinellas Park, Fla. In April 2004, she moved to Garden Valley Retirement Village, Garden City, KS.
Jean enjoyed reading, painting and Bible study classes. She also enjoyed watching football and rooted for the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
She is survived by two nieces, Jean Fairchild, her husband Kenneth and daughter Katie, of St. Albans, Vt.; and Jean Clifford, her husband Dr. William, and children, Frances, Mary, Beth, Patrick, Joy and David, of Garden City, KS; and two nephews, Michael Brady of Malone, N.Y.; and Thomas Flanagan, and his wife, Janette, and children, Daniel, Jonathan, Steven, and Joseph, of St. Petersburg, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers and sisters: George McKee, Fr. Robert McKee, CSC, William McKee, Joseph McKee, Ruth Brady, and Frances Flanagan.
Memorials maybe made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Cremation has taken place and a Mass was to be held at 11 a.m. today, Jan. 9, 2006, at St. Dominic Catholic Church, Garden City, KS, Fr. Joseph Bahr officiating, with internment of her ashes to follow in Valley View Cemetery, Garden City, KS.
Funeral arrangements were made through Garnand Funeral Home, Garden City, KS.
VINCENT B. CHALOUX
ST. ALBANS - Vincent B. Chaloux, 43, of St Albans left this world for a more peaceful place on Friday, Jan. 6, 2006. He was fondly known as “Vinnie”
He was born in St. Albans on Dec. 31, 1962, son of Raymond and Susan (Venner) Chaloux.
Vincent attended schools in St Albans. He served his country as a member of the U.S. Army from 1980-1983. He was employed for 13 years by Vestshell Vermont and was most recently employed at Simport Plastics of Georgia.
On July 12, 1986 he married Laurie Kane.
Vincent was an avid fan of the Washington Redskins and loved music of all kinds. He was an excellent cook and loved spending time preparing meals for family and friends. He was a member of the St Albans Dart League for 15 years. He also was a member of the St. Albans Area Lions Club and Holy Angels Church.
Vincent’s zest for life will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 19 years, Laurie Chaloux of St Albans; his children: Nikki Chaloux, Tiffany LeGrand and her husband, James Gagne, Steve Chaloux and his companion, Haley Putnam, and Cherie Chaloux and her companion, Freeman Warren, all of St. Albans; grandchildren: Kya Gagne, Isaac Chaloux, Kegan Warren, Abbie Lockerby and Alex Lockerby; his parents, Raymond and Susan Chaloux of LaQuinta, Calif.; brother, Todd and his wife, Jennifer Chaloux and their son Jeremy of Palm Desert, Calif.; his mother-in-law, Joy Kane of Fairfield; brothers and sisters-in-law: Scott and Diane Kane of West Granby, Conn., Kevin and Penny Kane of Fletcher, Candy and Steve LaCombe of Mechanicsville, Va. and Shana Kane and Andy Bushey, of Anchorage, Alaska; and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday, Jan. 11, 2006, at 11 a.m. in Holy Angels Church. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St. from 7 to 9 Tuesday evening. In Vinnie'*s memory, memorials may be made to the charity of your choice.
