LUCIEN M. PELLETIER
GEORGIA - Lucien M. Pelletier, infant son of Andrew J. and Marilyn C. (Laroche) Pelletier passed away Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, at his home on the Pelletier Road surrounded by his caring and loving family. He was born in St. Albans on Oct. 27, 2005.

Lucien is survived by his parents, Andy and Marilyn; his maternal grandparents, Aline and Kenneth Turner of Swanton and Julian Laroche of St. Albans; his paternal grandparents, John and Margaret Pelletier of St. Albans; his maternal great-grandparents, Laurent and Germaine Laroche of St. Albans; his aunts, uncles and cousins: John and Tina Pelletier and their son, Brendan of St. Albans, Moria Pelletier and her fiancé, J.P. Routhier of St. Albans, Michele and Denis Paquin of North Elmwood, Ill., Rosaire and Shannon Laroche and their children, Maria, Daniel and Jared of Swanton, Roger and Penny Laroche and their children, Dustin and Shane of Swanton, and Estelle Laroche and her friend, Keith Turner of St. Albans. He also leaves many special friends and extended family. He was predeceased by his maternal great-grandparents, Harvey and Lorraine Breault; his paternal great-grandparents, D. Francis and Neva Howrigan and Roland and Lucille Pelletier; and his cousin, Jordan Laroche.

Marilyn and Andy would like to express their gratitude to the many family and friends for their thoughts, prayers and help during Lucien's illness. A special thanks to the staff at the Fletcher Allen Neo Natal Intensive Care Unit.

A Mass of the Angels will be celebrated by the Reverend Maurice J. Roy on Monday, Dec. 5, 2005, at 11 a.m. in Holy Angels Catholic Church on Lake Street. Interment will be in the family lot in St. Albans Bay Cemetery. Lucien's family will receive friends on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St., St. Albans.

GERARD A. ROCHELEAU
Funeral services for Gerard A. Rocheleau, who passed away on Nov. 26, 2005, were held on Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, in Holy Angels Catholic Church with the Reverend Maurice J. Roy celebrating A Mass of Christian Burial. Music was provided by Mary Jo Gillilan. Assisting at the altar were Norman Bushey and Maynard Gosselin. Lector was Sister Cecile Lebeau.

The funeral pall was placed on Gerard's casket by his granddaughter, Nicole Ward, and his great-grandchildren, Justin, Breanne and Myra Ward. The crucifix was placed by Gerard's wife, Millie. The Holy Scriptures were proclaimed by family friend, Shirley Raymond. Presentation of the Gifts were by Marion Young and Rhoda LaRocque. Words of Remembrance were offered by Gerard's daughter-in-law, Martha Rocheleau.

A Guard of Honor was formed by members of Green Mountain Post 1, American Legion and Robert E. Glidden Post 758, Veterans of Foreign Wars.

In attendance was representation from the Abbey Restaurant and Catering Service, Cioffi's Real Estate, former members of the Central Vermont Railway, Champlain Country Club, St. Albans Lodge 1566, B.P.O.E., Boston Tailoring, Paul Poquette Real Estate, Franklin County Rehab Center, Foundry Machine Shop, Yandow and Sons Lawn Care and Rachel's Styling Studio.

Casketbearers were Gerard's grandsons, Jason Rocheleau, Michael Boucher, Jeffrey Boucher, Dr. Matthew Boucher, Chris Pigeon and Anthony Yandow.

Following Prayers of Committal by Father Roy, the American flag from the World War II veteran's casket was presented to Gerard's wife, Millie, by Curtis Brown representing the Veterans organizations. Interment took place in the family lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

A luncheon followed at the American Legion Hall hosted by the members of Green Mountain Post 1, American Legion. Tuesday afternoon Father Roy held a Christian Wake Service with Gerard's family and friends. Tuesday evening Gerard's son-in-law, The Reverend Craig Smith held a prayer service.

Assisting Gerard's family was the Heald Funeral Home of St. Albans.

VINCENT A. JARVIS
ISLE LA MOTTE - The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005, at 10 a.m. from St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Mission. Father Maurice U. Boucher, SSE was the celebrant and homilist. Assisting as Deacon was The Reverend Mr. Alan Vincelette. Mrs. Beth Savage served as Minister of the Altar. Music was provided by soloist, Maurice Gauthier accompanied by organist, Carol Pellerin.

The White Funeral Pall was draped over Vincent’s casket by his children, Julie Irick, Lee Jarvis, Anthony Jarvis and Gene Jarvis. The Crucifix was then placed by his wife, Jacquelin Jarvis. Readings from both The Old and New Testament were proclaimed by Mrs. Beth Savage. The Offertory Gifts were presented by grandchildren, Ashley and Tori Jarvis and Josh Bohannon.

Among the delegations in attendance were representatives from the Isle La Motte Town Offices, Grand Isle County District and Probate Courts, Northwestern Occupational Health, Dragoon’s Farm Equipment, Blair’s Discount Fuel, Beaulac Excavating, Poissant Auto, Senesac Memorials, Savage’s Bargain Outlet, Classmates from the former St. Anne’s Academy, Kay’s Restaurant, Office of Attorney George Spear, Vermont Precision Tools, Fleury Plumbing, Heating and Electric, C & J Variety, and the parish communities of the Isle La Motte United Methodist Church, St. Joseph’s Mission, St. Anne’s Shrine and St. Amadeus.

Interment followed in the Jarvis family lot in St. Joseph’s Cemetery with Father Boucher assisted by Deacon Vincelette reading the committal prayers. The bearers were, Jerry Bonneville, Keith Bonneville, Raymond Fleury, Richard Fleury, Timmy Greene and Andy Francis.

Full Military Honors were accorded the deceased by members of the Vermont Air National Guard, Honor Guard Team. The American flag, which draped the United States Army and Korean Conflict Veteran’s casket, was folded by MSG Rich Celia and presented to Vincent’s wife Jacquelin by Officer in Charge, Major Melvin Terry. Members of Color Guard were MSG Terry Tracy and MSG Kelly Miller. Members of the Firing Party were, CMS Kenneth Johnson, MSG David Lavallee, MSG Karen Fredenburgh, MSG Richard Celia and TSG James Bushey. Bugler MSG David Lavallee sounded Taps.

Following The Prayers of Committal and Military Honors a Bereavement Luncheon was served for family and friends in the St. Amadeus Parish Center hosted by Maurice Gauthier.

FLORENCE E. GADOUAS
SWANTON / ST. ALBANS - Funeral services for Mrs. Florence Underwood Gadouas were held on Thursday at 10 a.m. in the First Baptist Church. Pastor William Simmons officiated. Mary Jo Gillilan was the organist and soloist. Holy Scripture Lessons from Psalm 62 and Mark 12 were read by granddaughters Laurie Shepard, Lynn Goodroe, Jill Goodroe, Colleen Shepard and Sherrie LaPlant. Fond words of remembrance were shared by nieces Sheila Spaulding and Patti Guilmette. Assisting the family as an usher in church was Kerry Griswold. A guard of honor was present from the Auxiliary Unit 758 of the Robert E. Glidden Veterans of Foreign Wars.

Attending were many members of the Franklin County Senior Citizens, American Legion, Green Mountain Post 1 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 758, Holiday House Nursing Home, area bingo workers and players and many parishioners of the First Baptist Church.

Bearers were her nephews, Arnold Underwood, Gary Underwood, David Underwood, Clifton Britch; and friends, Randy Pare and Paul Brodeur.

Following Prayers of Committal by Pastor Simmons, interment was in the Gadouas family lot in St. Albans Bay Cemetery. The family and friends were then invited to a reception and luncheon at the Veterans of Foreign Wars Club, hosted by the club and auxiliary members.

Wednesday evening the Vermont District V.F.W. Auxiliary held a religious ritual for their deceased Past President. Judy Rocheleau represented the State President Lonnie Keyes. Conductress were Senior Vice-Pres. Jane Laviletta, the District 4 President, Chaplin, Past District 4 President Lucille Brown, Theresa Lavalette, Past District Pres. and Burlington Aux 782 and Betty Renaudette, a Past Dist. Pres. The service was held for Florence’s family and friends during visitation at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

JOSEPH GEORGE THUOT
ST. ALBANS TOWN - Mr. Joseph Thuot, age 85, died Nov. 30, 2005, at his home following a brief illness, with his family by his side. He was born Feb. 13, 1920, in Iberville, Quebec, the son of the late Pierre and Rose (Bessette) Thuot.

As a young adult, Joseph became a U.S. citizen prior to enlisting in the U.S. Navy Armed Guard and serving during World War II. He married his true love, the late Doris DeVarney, Dec. 30, 1940, who predeceased him July 1, 2000. Joseph was employed as a machinist for Fonda Container Corporation for approximately 40 years and retired in 1985.

He is survived by his two sons and their spouses, Richard and Diane Thuot of New Hampshire, Gary and Anne Lisa Thuot of North Carolina; his two daughters and their spouses, Nancy and Norm Choiniere of St. Albans, Susan and Matt O’Conner of Atlanta, Ga.; seven grandchildren: Liana, Cynthia, James, Heather, Elyssa, Gregg and Lindsay; and seven great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Thelma Thuot of St. Albans; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his wife Doris and his parents, Joseph was predeceased by his two brothers, Elphage and Josephat; and his sisters, Lucette and Simone.

Joseph will forever be remembered for his strong will and determination.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Dec. 3, at 1:30 p.m. in Holy Angels Church. Interment will be in the Thuot family lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

HILDRED V. MENARD
MAQUAM SHORE / HIGHGATE CENTER - The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005, at 11 a.m. from St. Louis Roman Catholic Church in Highgate Center. Father John J. Meagher, SSE was the celebrant and homilist. John Ferland and Paul Laroche served as Ministers of the Altar as well as Eucharistic Ministers. Music was provided by guitarist and soloist, Gail Perras.

The White Funeral Pall was draped over Hildred’s casket by her children, Daniel Menard, Judy Desorcie, Spring Perras and Penny Nye. The Crucifix was then placed by her husband Lucien Menard. Paul Laroche proclaimed the readings from both The Old and New Testament. The Offertory Gifts were presented by granddaughters, Cindy Lafayette, Jennifer Corey, Victoria Nye, Elizabeth Nye, Desarae Perras and Rebecca Menard. Following communion Special Words of Remembrance were shared by son-in-law, Daniel Desorcie.

Among the many delegations in attendance were representatives from Highgate Town Offices, Coldwell Bankers Choice Properties, Dan’s Concrete, Carroll Concrete, employees of the former Andersons Concrete, Harrison’s Concrete, The County Courier, Franklin County Home Health Agency-Hospice Program, United States Department of Homeland Security - U.S, Customs Service, Missisquoi Valley Union High School, Highgate Elementary School, Swanton Lumber, Banknorth, Tuesday Morning Coffee League, H.& B. Greenhouse, Franklin General Store, Chittenden Bank, Jeff’s Maine Seafood, Desorcie’s Store, Missisquoi Valley Rescue and St. Louis Parish Bingo Committee.

Interment followed in the Menard family lot in St. Louis Cemetery with Father Meagher reading the committal prayers.

The Honorary Bearers, all granddaughters, were Cindy Lafayette, Jennifer Corey, Victoria Nye, Elizabeth Nye, Desarae Perras and Rebecca Menard. The Active Bearers, all grandsons, were Daniel Menard, Benjamin Nye, Kristian Perras, John Lafayette and Gary Corey.

Following The Prayers of Committal a Bereavement Luncheon for family and friends was served in the Father Jean Paul Laplante Parish Center hosted by Mrs. Raymonde Choiniere and the Ladies of St. Anne.

EDWIN T. ASTLEFORD
TRAVERSE CITY, Mich. / ST. ALBANS - Edwin T. Astleford, 68, of Traverse City, Michigan, and formerly of St. Albans, passed away Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, at his home. At his request, private family services will be held.

ESMERILDA MARIE SAVAGE JEROME
MILTON - Esmerilda Marie Savage Jerome, 85, died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.
Esmerilda was born on Aug. 3, 1920, in Burlington, the daughter of Arthur and Elizabeth (King) LaRocque.
She had worked at the American Woolen Mills in Winooski, and had been a homemaker most of her life.
She was married to Kenneth Savage who predeceased her in 1976. She married George Jerome in 1980.
In addition to her husband George, Mrs. Jerome is survived by her children and spouses: Roy Savage and his wife, Sun Nam of Seattle, Wash., Reginald Savage and his wife, Lois of Arkansas, Rene Savage and his wife, Sharon of Jeffersonville, Regina Boucher and her husband, Roger of Milton, Rena Potwin and her husband, Gerald of Newport; her daughter-in-law, Carol Savage of Georgia; by George’s daughters: Alberta Recarr and her husband, John of Milton, Margaret Whittemore and her husband, Chett of Fairhaven, Lucy Lamoureux and her husband, Robert of Massachusetts, and Mary Jean Muddgett of Burlington; by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her brothers, Ralph and Earl LaRocque; her sisters, Loretta Nay, Elizabeth Gilmon and Josephine Irish and her husband, Lester; and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her sons, Roger and Ronald Savage; and her brothers: David, Robert, Donald, Paul, and Edward.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, Feb. 4, 2006, at 1 p.m. at the home of Esmerilda’s daughter Regina Boucher, 37 Meadow Road, Milton.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 121 Conner Way Ste. 240, P.O. Box 1460, Williston, Vt. 05495.
Arrangements were by the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.

FLOYD A. DOW
MILTON - Floyd A. Dow, 74, of West Milton Road, died Saturday afternoon, Jan. 28, 2006, at the Green Mountain Nursing Home in Colchester.
Floyd was born April 19, 1931, in Hartland, Vt., the son of Forest and Marrian (Baker) Dow. On April 24, 1954, he was married to Sylvia Ruth Wood who survives him.
He started work on the family farm in Hartland and remained a Dairy Farmer his entire life working on various farms around the state. More recently he spent time with the VNA Adult Daycare program in Colchester.
He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Dow of Milton; and his children: Peanut Wood and her spouse, Kathy Mazza Wood of Georgia, Stacy Juaire and her husband, Mark of Fairfield and Tracy Dow and his wife, Kim of St. Albans. He leaves seven grandchildren; his brother, Earl Dow and his wife, Patricia of Connecticut; and his sister, Marlene Allen of Rutland. He was predeceased by his daughter, Brenda Dow in October of 1973.
Funeral Services will be held tomorrow, Jan. 31, 2006, at 11 a.m. in the Minor Funeral Home, Route 7 in Milton with the Reverend Jeffrey Cornwell officiating. Burial will be held later in the spring.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the Franklin County Humane Society, 30 Sunset Meadows, St. Albans, Vt. 05478.
Visiting Hours will be held on Tuesday from 10 a.m. until the hour of the service in the Minor Funeral Home.

MARY L. ADAMS
ST. ALBANS - Mrs. Mary Louise Adams, 72, a lifelong area resident, passed away on Monday, Jan. 23, 2006, at Redstone Villa Nursing Home following a brief illness. She was born in Swanton on April 26, 1933, the daughter of the late Lloyd H. and Mary Jane (Hakey) Rhinehart. She was the widow of Robert H. Adams, who died on May 3, 1999.
Mary is survived by three daughters and their husbands: Catherine and Elwin Young of Websterville, N.H., Lori and Rocky Elkins of Montgomery, and Lorrene and Rodney Bushey of Georgia; a son and his wife, William J. and Candace Adams of Enosburg; four sisters: Nancy Quilliam of St. Albans, Jacqueline Rhinehart of Teaneck, N.J., Shirley Mockabee of Safety Harbor, Fla., and Sally Minor of Swanton; four brothers: Jack Rhinehart of Portland, Maine, Donald Rhinehart of St. Albans, Gary Rhinehart of Temple Hill, Md., and John Rhinehart of Melrose, Mass.; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Besides her parents and husband Robert, she was predeceased by a daughter, Marcy Adams on June 12, 1992; and a brother, George Rhinehart.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family. There will be no visitation.
The Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St., is assisting the family with arrangements.

THOMAS F. MIKAN
ST. ALBANS - Funeral services for Thomas F. Mikan, who passed away on Jan. 20, 2006, were held on Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Heald Funeral Chapel. A ceremony of farewell and dedication celebrating Tom’s life was conducted by his comrades from the Vermont Chapter 753, Vietnam Veterans of America, with Henry Neuberger coordinating and conducting the service. Fond words of remembrance were spoken by Tom’s children, Derek McKusick, Jason Mikan, and Kim Pope.
The Vietnam Veterans and members of the Veterans of Foreign Wars posted color guards during the visitation. An honor guard was formed by Green Mountain Post 1, American Legion and Robert E. Glidden Post 758, Veterans of Foreign Wars.
In attendance in addition to the Veterans organizations, were representatives of the Vermont Army National Guard, the Vermont Department of Corrections, Northwest State Correctional Facility, and the Burlington Police Department.
At the conclusion of the services the American flag honoring the Vietnam Era veteran was presented to his son Jason, by Henry Neuberger, representing all of the veterans organizations. A reception followed at the American Legion on Parah Drive.
The Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St., assisted the family with arrangements.
