AMBROSE G. ‘JUNIOR’ PAQUIN
ST. ALBANS - Ambrose G. "Junior" Paquin, 80, a longtime area resident, passed away early Monday, Dec. 5, 2005, at the Northwestern Medical Center following a brief illness, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Sheldon, Vt. on March 22, 1925, the son of the late Ambrose and Florence (Gilbert) Paquin. On Jan. 25, 1951, Ambrose was married to the former Marlene J. Cross, who predeceased him on Oct. 15, 1980.
He served his country in the U.S. Army. Upon his honorable discharge he was a longtime general manager for Paquin Plymouth in St. Albans and retired as a sales associate at E. J. Barrette and Sons, in Swanton.
Survivors include his children: Ambrose James Paquin and Wendy Marsh of Windsor, Vt., and Jim's sons, Ambrose and Christopher; Peggy Trombley and her husband, Shaun, of St. Albans, and their sons, James and Andrew; Susan Madigan of St. Albans, and her children, Kelly and Joe; Joanne Kittell and her husband, Dean, of Enosburg and their sons, Benjamin, Matthew and Caleb; and Polly Paquin and Steve Marsh, of Fairfax, and her children Jacob and Alexis; his brothers, Burton Paquin and his wife, Celia, of Swanton, and Clinton Paquin and his wife, Pauline, of St. Albans; his sisters, Hilda LaBombard of Bennington and Teresa Gearty of Walpole, Mass.; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Beverly Pascavage and Sister Joyce Barrett. In addition to his parents, Ambrose and Florence; and his wife, Marlene; Ambrose was predeceased by four brothers: Chester, Alton, Maurice John, and Clifford; and three sisters: Gladys Cormier, Phyllis Jarvis and Joyce Bishop.
Ambrose's family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at the Haven Health Care Facility, the Northwestern Medical Center and the Fletcher Allen Health Care for the care that Junior received and the support given during his illness.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, Dec. 9, 2005, at 2 p.m. in the Heald Funeral Chapel, 87 South Main St. with the Reverend Leonidas B. Laroche, Pastor of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot in Holy Cross Cemetery. Ambrose's family will receive friends on Friday from noon until the hour of the funeral.

KENNETH H. NEILL
JOHNSON / HIGHGATE SPRINGS - Kenneth H. Neill, formerly of Johnson, and more recently of Highgate Springs, passed away Dec. 5, 2005 at the Redstone Villa Nursing Home in St. Albans after a long illness. Kenneth was born Jan. 31, 1923, in Waitsfield, Vt., the son of LeRoy Joseph and Linnie Luretta (Morse) Neill. Kenneth’s father died when he was 13 years of age, and devoted much of his life taking care of his mother, sisters, wife and children, rarely taking time for himself. He was especially proud of and immensely enjoyed time with his grandchildren.
Kenneth was a graduate of Johnson High School in 1941. He served during World War II in the U.S. Army with the 3081st Ordinance Motor Vehicle Distribution Company from May 1943 through January 1946 in the European Theater.
After the war, Kenneth began his career with the United States Postal Service with an appointment as Postmaster in Johnson in 1956. He retired in 1978, and subsequently worked for the Sterling Trust Company as a bank courier, and as an Income Tax Preparer for many years. After his retirement, Kenneth spent much of his time enjoying the outdoors, and could frequently be found gardening, cutting wood and maintaining his property. He was active in Boy Scouts as an adult leader, and served as a Johnson Justice of the Peace for many years. Kenneth was a member of the Johnson United Church, acting as Treasurer for years.
Kenneth married Helen Corrine Whiting on Dec. 28, 1956, in Swanton. Helen predeceased him on April 18, 2001. Kenneth is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law: David and Joyce of New Milford, Conn., Shawn of Highgate Springs, Kevin and Monita of Johnson. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Bethany, Alyssa, Zachariah of New Milford, Conn., Catherine and Anna of Highgate Springs, Zachary and Nikayla of Johnson. Also surviving Kenneth are his sisters: Helen Archambault of Lincoln, N.H., Florence Daniels of Northfield, Vt. and Janice Blake of Bradford, Vt. He is survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins as well.
Visiting hours will be at the des Groseilliers Funeral Home on Main Street in Johnson on Dec. 7 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. The funeral will be held at the Johnson United Church on Main Street on Thursday, Dec. 8 at 2 p.m. Spring interment with Military Honors will be in Lamoille View Cemetery Johnson.

LUCIEN MacGREGOR PELLETIER
ST. ALBANS - A concelebrated Mass of the Angels for Lucien MacGregor Pelletier, infant son of Andrew and Marilyn Pelletier, who passed away on Nov. 30, 2005, was held on Monday at 11 a.m. in Holy Angels Church. The Reverend Maurice J. Roy was the principal celebrant and homilist with the Reverend Leonidas B. Laroche, Pastor of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church assisting. Organist, guitarist and vocalist was Mary Jo Gillilan. Ministers of the Altar were Normand Blouin and Robert Brodeur. Eucharistic ministers were Sister Cecile Lebeau and Rita Blouin. A guard of honor was formed by members of the Holy Angels Choir and by several family members.
The white funeral pall was placed on Lucien's casket by his grandmothers, Aline Tanner and Margaret Pelletier, and a "heart cross" was placed by his parents, Andy and Marilyn. The Old Testament reading was by Moria Pelletier and the New Testament reading by Hannah Decker. The Eucharistic Gifts were presented at the altar by Rosaire and Shannon Laroche, Roger and Penny Laroche, and Estelle Laroche. Lucien's Mom, Marilyn, read several favorite verses.
In attendance were representatives of Mousetrap Pediatrics, Northwestern Medical Center, Bonnette Supply Co., Connor Contracting, Rosie's Vermont Beef Jerky, Tom Hungerford Insurance, Branon Enterprises, Swanton Lumber, Ace Hardware, Swanton Schools, Bayside Pavilion, A.M. Peisch, Bonnett's Welding, Bellows Free Academy, Georgia Shore Neighbors, and many area dairy farmers.
Casket bearers were Richard Parent, John Pelletier, Gene Archambault, and Brian Reynolds.
Following prayers of committal by Father Roy, interment was in the family lot at St. Albans Bay Cemetery. A reception and luncheon at Holy Angels Parish Center was hosted by Rosalie Jacques and the Ladies of St. Anne.
On Sunday afternoon, Father Roy held a Vigil Service with family and friends at the Heald Funeral Home.
KERMIT B. BERGERON
ST. ALBANS - Funeral services for Mr. Kermit B. Bergeron were held Thursday at 8:30 p.m. in the Brady & Levesque Chapel. Father Maurice Roy, pastor of Holy Angels Church, officiated.
Attending were representatives of St. Albans City Fire Department, Duffy Removal Service, John Clapper Taxi Service, Haven Health Care Center, former employees of George Yett Bag Company and neighbors from Beth El Court.
Following prayers of committal by Father Roy, a reception was held at the home of his son Roy Bergeron, in Swanton.
Interment will be in the Bergeron family lot in Mt. Calvary Cemetery next spring.
MARY HEBERT
ST. ALBANS - A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Mrs. Mary Rinaldi Hebert at 10 a.m. Saturday in Holy Angels Church. Father Maurice Roy was the celebrant. Serving at the altar were Norman Bushey and Maynard Gosselin. Holy Scripture Lessons were read by Sister Cecile LeBeau. Mary Jo Gillilan was the organist and soloist.
Attending were representatives of Hebert Construction, J.W. Ryan’s, Bellows Free Academy faculty, Total Home Center, Peoples Trust Company and former neighbors.
Interment will be at a later date in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Arrangements were entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home and Commemorative Services.
JOSEPH G. THUOT
ST. ALBANS - A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated for Mr. Joseph George Thuot at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in Holy Angels Church. Father Maurice Roy was the celebrant. Serving at the altar were Normand Blouin and George Swann. Holy Scripture Lessons were read by Sister Cecile LeBeau. Mary Jo Gillilan was the organist and soloist.
Omitted from his obituary was his granddaughter, Laurie Dewitt.
A guard of honor was present from the American Legion, Green Mountain Post 1. Also attending were representatives of Franklin County Home Health Agency, Champlain Collections, former employees of The Fonda Container Corp., and many neighbors.
Following prayers of committal by Father Roy, “Taps” were sounded by Mary Jo. The American flag from the U.S. Navy, World War II, veteran’s casket was presented to his son, Gary Thuot by Curtis Brown, who represented the veteran’s organizations.
Interment was in the Thuot family lot in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Friday afternoon, Father Roy held a Christian Wake Service with Joe’s friends and family in the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.
HENRY GEORGE COTE
SWANTON - Funeral Services were held Sunday, Dec. 4, 2005, at 3 p.m. from the Kidder Memorial Home. Father John J. Meagher, SSE pastor of The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Swanton and St. Louis Roman Catholic Church in Highgate Center officiated.
Among the delegations in attendance were representatives from Swanton Village and Town Offices, H.G. Berger and Son, Inc., General Dynamics, The Vermont Respite House, Haven Health Center and the Nativity Parish community.
Private interment with full military honors will take place later in the Cote family lot in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
HENRY GEORGE COTE
SWANTON - Henry George Cote, 95, a longtime resident of Swanton Village, died Thursday morning, Dec. 1, 2005, at the Vermont Respite House in Williston.
Born in Coaticook, Quebec Canada on Nov. 24, 1910, he was the son of the late C.E. and Alvine (Poulin) Cote. He attended schools in Canada and Morrisville and in 1939 was married to the former Fern R. Brow, who predeceased him on Aug. 22, 2004, after 65 years of marriage.
For more than 20 years Henry owned and operated Bill’s Filling Station on Platt Street in Swanton Village. In earlier years he was associated as a carpenter with Bell Aircraft in Burlington also working for a time on a naval base located in Bermuda. He was a longtime parishioner of The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Henry faithfully served his country in the United States Army during World War II serving in the European African Middle Eastern Theater. He was awarded several medals including the Army of Occupation Medal, Good Conduct Medal, and the World War II Victory Medal. He received his Honorable discharge on Oct. 25, 1946. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Charles DaPrato, Post 778 in Swanton.
He leaves his son, Lawrence W. Cote and his wife, Charmayne of Milton; a grandson, Derek T. Cote of Essex Junction; two brothers, Lawrence (Sammy) Cote of Hyde Park and Roger Cote of Morrisville; one sister, Germaine Plante of Morrisville; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, Dec. 4, 2005, at 3 p.m. from the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton. Father John J. Meagher, SSE will officiate. Interment will take place later in the Cote family lot in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday from 1 p.m. until the hour of the service.
Gifts in Henry’s memory may be made to the Vermont Respite House, Inc., 99 Allen Brook Lane, Williston 05495.
VINCENT A. JARVIS
ISLE LA MOTTE - The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005, at 10 a.m. from St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Mission. Father Maurice U. Boucher, SSE was the celebrant and homilist. Assisting as Deacon was The Reverend Mr. Alan Vincelette. Mrs. Beth Savage served as Minister of the Altar. Music was provided by soloist, Maurice Gauthier accompanied by organist, Carol Pellerin.
The White Funeral Pall was draped over Vincent’s casket by his children, Julie Irick, Lee Jarvis, Anthony Jarvis and Gene Jarvis. The Crucifix was then placed by his wife, Jacquelin Jarvis. Readings from both The Old and New Testament were proclaimed by Mrs. Beth Savage. The Offertory Gifts were presented by grandchildren, Ashley and Tori Jarvis and Josh Bohannon.
Among the delegations in attendance were representatives from the Isle La Motte Town Offices, Grand Isle County District and Probate Courts, Northwestern Occupational Health, Dragoon’s Farm Equipment, Blair’s Discount Fuel, Beaulac Excavating, Poissant Auto, Senesac Memorials, Savage’s Bargain Outlet, Classmates from the former St. Anne’s Academy, Kay’s Restaurant, Office of Attorney George Spear, Vermont Precision Tools, Fleury Plumbing, Heating and Electric, C & J Variety, and the parish communities of the Isle La Motte United Methodist Church, St. Joseph’s Mission, St. Anne’s Shrine and St. Amadeus.
Interment followed in the Jarvis family lot in St. Joseph’s Cemetery with Father Boucher assisted by Deacon Vincelette reading the committal prayers. The bearers were, Jerry Bonneville, Keith Bonneville, Raymond Fleury, Richard Fleury, Timmy Greene and Andy Francis.
Full Military Honors were accorded the deceased by members of the Vermont Air National Guard, Honor Guard Team. The American flag, which draped the United States Army and Korean Conflict Veteran’s casket, was folded by MSG Rich Celia and presented to Vincent’s wife Jacquelin by Officer in Charge, Major Melvin Terry. Members of Color Guard were MSG Terry Tracy and MSG Kelly Miller. Members of the Firing Party were, CMS Kenneth Johnson, MSG David Lavallee, MSG Karen Fredenburgh, MSG Richard Celia and TSG James Bushey. Bugler MSG David Lavallee sounded Taps.
Following The Prayers of Committal and Military Honors a Bereavement Luncheon was served for family and friends in the St. Amadeus Parish Center hosted by Maurice Gauthier.
Mr. Jarvis is also survived by his mother-in-law, Mrs. Valerie Jarvis (inadvertently omitted from Mr. Jarvis’ obituary).
JEAN-PAUL MOREAU
SOUTH BURLINGTON - Jean-Paul Moreau, 80, died of complications following major surgery in Burlington on Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2005.
Jean-Paul was born in Colchester at Fanny Allen Hospital on Oct. 19,
1925, the second son of the late Romuald and Denise (Beauvais) Moreau. He was raised in Swanton among a large extended family.
His studies at St. Ann's Academy were interrupted by his enlistment in the Navy in January 1944. He was honorably discharged in June 1946 with the rank of Hospital Apprentice First Class. After returning to Swanton to finish high school he enrolled at St. Michael's College, finishing his Bachelor's degree in 1951. He was proud to be a Purple Knight.
On Aug. 23, 1952, he married the love of his life, Mariette J. Balthazar. Jean-Paul and Mariette shared 53 wonderful years and many interests together especially art, travel and genealogical research.
Jean-Paul was employed by the International Harvester Credit Corporation for 30 years, retiring in 1981. He then worked in the photography department at Gaynes for many years until they closed.
His many interests over the years were often instigated by his children.
He was active in the Boy Scouts district leadership and helped with Girl
Scout outings. He was involved in the Burlington Gem and Mineral Club and the local photography club.
Jean-Paul was a co-founder of the Vermont French-Canadian Genealogical Society. As a librarian of the society he helped build the collection of materials available for research. He was a consummate genealogical researcher. His moments of greatest satisfaction were when he could make connections between long lost relatives or help new genealogists unravel their complicated family trees.
He was a life-long learner who usually was reading four or five books at a time. His favorite subjects were U.S. history and cultural studies. He was also a lector at St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Parish and he loved to sing hymns.
Besides his wife, Mariette, Jean-Paul is survived by his children, Peter
Moreau and his wife, Tande and children, Kathryn and Ian of The Woodlands, Texas, Kathryn Sealy and her husband, Josh and children, Benjamin and Jennifer of Sutton, Cambridgeshire, U.K., and Kevin Moreau of Brattleboro; his sister-in-law, Louise Moreau of Inverness, Fla.; sister, Rolande Kane and her husband, George of Franklin, Vt. and Inverness, Fla.; brothers-in-law, Bernard Balthazar of Swanton and Real Balthazar of Mammoth Lakes, Calif.; and sister-in-law, Sr. Gilberte Balthazar of Putnam, Conn.; nephew, Jay Moreau of Ridgewood, N.J.; and nieces, Maureen Wheeler of Jericho, Peggy Brown of Jericho, Paula Kane of St. Albans, Janet Kane-Farrell of Winooski, Celeste Kane-Stebbins of Sheldon, and Brenda Hammond of Berkshire; and many cousins.
Jean-Paul is predeceased by his brother, J. Maurice Moreau; and nephews, Michael Kane, Mark Kane, Jimmy Kane and Robert Moreau.
His life will be celebrated at a Mass of Christian Burial in St. John
Vianney Church, 160 Hinesburg Rd, South Burlington, on Monday, Dec. 5, 2005, at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Swanton, following the Mass. Visiting hours will be 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 4, 2005, at the Boucher & Pritchard Funeral Home, 85 North Winooski Ave., Burlington, Vt.
