GEORGETTE MAY TROVILLE
Mrs. Georgette May Troville, age 76 of Roswell, Ga., formerly of St. Albans, Vt. passed away on Tuesday, Nov. 22, 2005, after an extended illness.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Maurice Troville; and son, Bruce Alan Troville Sr. Survivors include: son Howard Dennis Troville and wife, Jackie, son Bryant K. Troville and wife Lillian, sister Elsie Mott, daughter-in-law Gwen Troville, grandchildren: Kerry Franzen, Bruce A. Troville Jr. and Sonny Arrington; great-grandchildren: Jonathan, Janeva and Bryant Troville, Christopher, Samantha and Shawn Neste, Heidi and Alex Franzen and Bret Arrington.

Mrs. Troville will be cremated, with a memorial service planned for today, Nov. 25, at the home of Howard and Jackie Troville in Roswell, Ga.

Byars Funeral Home & Cremation Services is in charge of the arrangements.

RAYMOND E. DEVARNEY, JR.
GEORGIA - Mr. Raymond E. DeVarney Jr., age 76, was dead on arrival at the Northwestern Medical Center on Tuesday afternoon, Nov. 22, 2005, following a heart attack. He was born in St. Albans, July 31, 1929, son of the late Raymond and Anita (Brault) DeVarney.

Raymond enlisted in the U. S. Army in 1946, at the age of 16, and was discharged 1948. He re-enlisted in 1950 and was discharged in 1952. He then worked for the Union Carbide Consumer Products for a few years, opened his own service station, known as DeVarney*s Garage, which he operated for 35 years. He later became employed by General Electric for nine years and a short time for Plastic Monofil, Inc.

Ray was a firefighter with the Georgia Fire Department for several years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 297 and The Fourth Degree Assembly 1149, in St. Albans. He was also a member of the American Legion, Green Mountain Post 1 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Robert E. Glidden Post 758. Ray was always ready to help anyone and everyone. His enjoyment was building and flying remote model airplanes. Raymond was a communicant of Holy Angels Church and a member of the Holy Angels Choir.

July 1, 1950 he married Barbara Blake. Besides his wife, Barbara of Georgia, he is survived by his children: Donna and her husband, Arthur Gramse of Richford, Rodney DeVarney and his fiancee, Kathy Brown of Sheldon, Susan Shappy and her fiance, Dale Judd of Georgia; five grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; a sister, Carol and her husband, Robert Meloni of Asbboro, N. C.; two brothers, Chester and his wife, Joyce DeVarney of Georgia, Ernest and his wife, Peggy DeVarney of St. Albans; a brother-in-law, George and his wife, Yvonne Blake of Georgia; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his daughter, Linda DeVarney; and grandson, Brian Shappy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005, at 1:30 p.m. in Holy Angels Church. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., St. Albans, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Interment will be in the DeVarney family lot in St. Anne’s Cemetery in Milton.

Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider the Jim Bashaw Cancer Fund, 333 South Main St., St. Albans, Vt. 05478.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home and Commemorative Services.

DAVID RICHARD UNWIN
SWANTON - David Richard Unwin, 78, a lifelong Swanton resident, died late Wednesday morning at the Haven Health Center in St. Albans Town.

Born at home in Swanton, Dec. 4, 1926, he was the son of the late Dennis D. and Ella May (Barratt) Unwin. He attended schools in Swanton and in 1952 was married to the former ClaraBelle Bard who predeceased him on March 17, 1983.

For many years David was associated with the Swanton Village Electric Department and in his earlier years worked as a lineman for the Central Vermont Railroad.

He leaves two sons, Richard Unwin of Swanton and Jon Unwin of Mendon; two sisters, Shirley Hibbard and Ruth Dumont; and a brother, Leonard Unwin, all of Swanton Village. Also surviving are his brother-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ruth Vanslette, Walter and Victoria Bard and Nora Unwin, all of Swanton; a very special niece and caregiver, Elizabeth “Hubba” Noel of Swanton Village, as well as numerous other nieces, nephews and cousins.

Besides his wife and parents David was predeceased by his sisters, Elizabeth Young, Pauline Unwin; and brothers, Carol, Oscar, Vernal, Charles and Eugene Unwin.

Funeral Services will be held Monday, Nov. 28, 2005, at 10 a.m. from the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton. The Reverend Marcheta Townsend will officiate. Interment will follow in the Unwin family lot in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, Nov. 27, 2005, from 7 to 9 p.m.

Gifts in David’s memory may be made to Missisquoi Valley Rescue, P.O. Box 22, Swanton 05488; or to the American Cancer Society, 11 Loomis Street, Montpelier.

MARY ELIZABETH STONE
BAKERSFIELD - Mary Elizabeth Stone, age 56, passed away Tuesday morning, Nov. 22, 2005, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans with her loving family at her side.

She was born Dec. 1, 1948, in Jeffersonville, the daughter of the late Perley Albert and Alberta Lillian (Sheltra) Tinker.

Mary was a resident of Bakersfield most of her life and was a member of St. Anthony’s / St. Georges Catholic Church in East Fairfield. She was previously employed at Lepeltier Corp. in East Fairfield for several years. She also cared for Isabelle Ducharme for many years and while her children were growing up she had a day care in her home. Mary enjoyed playing Bingo, square dancing, playing cards and camping on Fairfield Pond. Most of all she loved raising her children and caring for her grandchildren.

She is survived by her husband, Russell Stone Sr. of Bakersfield; her children: Kimberly Tipper and her fiancé, Jeffrey Coon of Swanton, Deborah Plouffe and her husband, David of Enosburg, Karen Chicoine and her husband, Christopher of Bakersfield, and Russell Stone Jr. of Bakersfield; her grandchildren: Tyler & Rylee Tipper, Julie & Samantha Hubbard, Nicole Larose, Calee & Connor Chicoine, and Jordan & Dylan Stone; her step grandchildren, Abby & Michael Coon, and Samantha & Kyle Plouffe; she was also looking forward to the birth of two great-grandchildren. She was also survived by her siblings: Edwin Tinker of West Bolton, Janice Fay and her husband, Sidney of Huntington, Lillian Dudley and her husband, Hugh of East Fairfield, Charles Tinker and his partner, Dennis Getty of Fletcher, Connie Boylan and her husband, Charles of Fairfield, Bonnie Collins and her husband, Steven of East Fairfield, James Tinker and his wife, Bonnie of Swanton, and Larry Tinker of Fairfield; one uncle and his wife Francis and Reba Sheltra of Florida; her mother-in-law, Ramona Stone of St. Albans; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Harold and Suzie Stone, Cindy Gokey, Roger and Gloria Stone, Ivan and Lisa Stone, Pamela and Michael Mudgett, and Hazen Stone all of Bakersfield; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her first husband, Mark Larose; father-in-law, Calvin Stone; sister-in-law, Martha Tinker; brother-in-law, David Gokey Sr.; and nephew, Jeffrey Tinker.

Funeral services will be held Saturday morning, Nov. 26, 2005, at 11 at St. Anthony’s St. George’s Catholic Church in East Fairfield with Rev. Joseph Sullivan celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Bakersfield.

Visiting hours will be held Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.

GERALD F. SMART
NORTH HERO / SWANTON - Gerald F. Smart, 82, died Sunday, Nov. 20, 2005, at the Haven Health Center in St. Albans Town.

Born in Swanton, Vt. on Aug. 20, 1923, he was the son of the late William and Rose (Bertrand) Smart. He attended St. Anne’s Academy until moving to Newport, N.H. and graduated from Towle High School in Newport in 1943. In 1951 he married the former Phyllis Sumner, who survives him.

Gerald enlisted in the United States Army in February of 1943, and served in the European Theater eight days after D-Day and was involved in the Battle of the Bulge. He received his honorable discharge in November of 1945. He then operated a painting business until 1960, at which time he entered Keene State Teachers College majoring in Industrial Arts. While living in Hampton, N.H. he taught at Epping for 23 years until retiring in 1988. He and his wife moved to Blockhouse Point in North Hero, Vt. in 1966.

During his lifetime he was a member and past commander of the American Legion, Post 25, Newport, N.H. and directed the New Hampshire Boys State for several years. He was also a retired member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary and the Portsmouth, New Hampshire Power Squadron. He enjoyed boating, camping, sports car racing and singing with the Grandma’s & Grandpa’s Choral Group in Swanton, Vt.

Gerald leaves his wife of 54 years, Phyllis Smart of North Hero; a special cousin, Dorothy Smart of Swanton; and several other cousins.

The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Nov. 26, 2005, at 11 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 65 Canada St., Swanton. Father Maurice U. Boucher, SSE will be the celebrant and homilist. Interment services with full military honors will take place on Monday, Nov. 28, 2005, at 11 a.m. at the family lot in St. Patrick’s Cemetery Newport, N.H. with The Reverend Mr. Paul Boucher officiating. Friends may call at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton on Friday, Nov. 25, 2005, from 4 to 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers gifts in Mr. Smart’s memory may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association, 1110 Prim Road, Colchester, Vt. 05446; or to Grand Isle Rescue, Faywood Road, Grand Isle, Vt. 05458.

RONALD D. BLOW SR.
ST. ALBANS - Ronald D. Blow Sr., 55 of James Circle, died unexpectedly early Monday morning, Nov. 21, 2005, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.

Ron was born March 29, 1950, in Burlington, the son of Howard E. Sr. and Mary Jane Aunchman Blow. He had lived in Milton for several years and moved to St. Albans in the early 80s. On Oct. 14, 1995, he married Linda Ann Charland in Richmond.

He was employed with SB Collins Inc. in St. Albans since 1984 as a Transport Driver. An avid bowler, Ron served as secretary for the Sunday night mixed bowling leagues both in Milton and later St. Albans. He was very proud of the fact that he bowled a perfect “300” in October of this year and more recently this past Sunday he bowled his first “700” ever. Ron also loved to hunt and fish with his father Howard and his brothers. Next to George Steinbrenner, Ron was a perfect Yankees fan.

He is survived by his wife Linda of St. Albans; and his children, Samantha Lynn of St. Albans and Ron Blow Jr. of Essex; his mother, Mary Jane Blow of Milton; his father-in-law, Paul Charland and his wife, Elizabeth of Huntington; and his sisters and brothers: Shirley Cooke and her husband, Bill of St. Albans, Howard Blow Jr. and his wife, Marie of Burlington, Sheila Conger and her husband, Robert Sr. of Berkshire, Wayne Blow and his wife, Nancy, Mary Jane Howard and her husband, Michael Sr. and Lawrence D. Blow and his wife, Margaret, all of Milton; his brothers and sisters-in-law: Pam Fay and her husband, Wallace of Bristol, Gary Charland and his wife, Lisa of Jericho, Joseph Charland and his wife, Julie of St. Albans, Ritchie Rogers and his wife, Rose of Waterville, Howard Blow III and his friend, Sarah of North Hero and Christina Blow and her friend, Chris of Burlington; as well as several uncles, aunts, nieces and nephews. He leaves also many truck driving friends including his two very special friends, Al Kaplan and John Morits.

He was predeceased by his father, Howard Sr. on Feb. 21, 2001; and an infant sister, Sarah.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 23, 2005, at 9 a.m. with Pastor Kim Ransom officiating in the Cornerstone Church, located on Bombardier Road in Milton across from the Town Office Complex. Burial will be held in the Grand Isle Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home located on Route 7 in Milton.

GISELE GILBERTE ROBITAILLE
SWANTON - The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Monday, Nov. 21, 2005, at 11 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Father Maurice U. Boucher, SSE was the celebrant and homilist. Assisting as Deacon was The Reverend Mr. Alan Vincelette. Imelda and John Tougas served as Ministers of the Altar. Music was provided by soloist, Maurice Gauthier accompanied by organist, Carol Pellerin.

A large guard of honor was formed by members of the Missisquoi Valley Union High School Girls Varsity Soccer Team and the Missisquoi Amateur Hockey Association. The White Funeral Pall was draped over Mrs. Robitaille’s casket by her grandchildren, Melanie and Richard Levesque. Grandson, Jonathan Case placed the Crucifix.

The Old Testament Reading was proclaimed in English by granddaughter, Stephanie Case and The New Testament Reading in French by niece, Claudette Adam. Grandchildren, Melanie and Richard Levesque, Stephanie and Jonathan Case presented The Offertory Gifts. Special Words of Remembrance were shared in French by sister, Nicole Gemme and in English by family friend, Maria Deslandes.

Among the many delegations in attendance were representatives from Lakewood Campground, Missisquoi Valley Union High School, Encan Jules Cote, Inc., Missisquoi Valley Rescue, Shumway Landscaping, Swanton Village Green Apartments, Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, Office of Attorney George Spear, Chittenden Bank, Champlain Country Club, Vermont Transit and Yankee Medical.

Interment followed in the Robitaille family lot in St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Cemetery with Father Boucher reading the committal prayers.

The bearers were Josh Longway, Chad Mudgett, Pierre Deslandes, Joseph Lavoie, Francois Demers and Claude Brousseau.

Following The Prayers of Committal a Bereavement Luncheon was served for family and friends in the Nativity Parish Center hosted by Mrs. Yvette Ouimet and the Ladies of St. Anne.

KENNETH LANDON FITZGERALD
WATERBURY - Kenneth Landon Fitzgerald, 69, passed away in the comfort of his family at Central Vermont Medical Center in Berlin on Saturday, Nov. 19, 2005. Born in East Fairfield on June 15, 1936, he was the son of the late Thomas and Lillian (Bovat) Fitzgerald. On Nov. 3, 1956, he married the former Betty Raymond in East Fairfield.

Ken attended schools in East Fairfield and as a young man went to work for the St. J and LC Railroad where he worked as a trackman for 11 years. From 1964 until 1993 when he retired, Ken was employed as a driller for several road construction companies, working on the interstate highway development in Vermont, New York and New Hampshire. His leisure time was spent enjoying baseball, being with his dog, gardening, taking care of his property, cooking, hunting and most of all, enjoying time with his family.

Ken is survived by his wife, Betty Fitzgerald of Waterbury; their children: Terry Fitzgerald and her companion, Roy Worden, Patti Reagan and her husband, Kirk of Duxbury, Laurie Hurlburt and her husband, Raney of North Fayston, Kim Fitzgerald and his companion, Mary Hart of Moretown, and Kenneth Fitzgerald Jr. and his wife, Heather of Hinesburg; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Monica Kittell of Sheldon; his twin brother, Kermit Fitzgerald of Georgia; as well as several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Conrad Fitzgerald and Thomas Fitzgerald Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated from St. Andrew Catholic Church in Waterbury on Tuesday at 10 a.m. There will be no calling hours. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery in Duxbury.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts would be appreciated to Central Vermont Home Health and Hospice, 600 Granger Road, Barre, Vt. 05641.

Arrangements are in the care of the Perkins-Parker Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Waterbury.
