RAYMOND EUGENE SHEPARD
MAGOG, Quebec — Raymond Eugene Shepard passed away suddenly at the Foyer Sacre Coeur in Magog, Quebec, on Friday, July 15, 2005, at the age of 78. He was born in Beebe, Quebec on March 1, 1927, son of the late Eugene Shepard and Annie Mae Rolleston.
Ray enjoyed all sports and attended as many events as possible. He also loved attending many card parties in the area as well as traveling miles with friends to attend.
Left to mourn his passing are two sisters, Freda Hibbard (late Donald Hibbard) of Beebe, Quebec, and Louise Poulton (late Cliff Poulton) of St. Albans; also a nephew, John Grant and Pricella of Sheldon; nieces Joan Grant of St. Albans and Debbie Lamoureux and Bernnie of Swanton; and many other nieces and nephews; as well as many, many friends. Ray was predeceased by his sisters and brothers: Linnie Shepard, Leona Shepard, Gladys Carr, Elwin Shepard, Esther Choiniere, Elaine Grant, Barbara Henderson and Derward Shepard.
Visitation with the ashes took place on July 19 at Cass Funeral Home, Stanstead, Quebec. Funeral services were held on July 20 at the Wesley United Church in Beebe, Quebec. Officiating the services were Reverend Doreen Moffatt, assisted by Father Frederick Thibideau, with special tribute from two of Ray’s nephews, David Hibbard and Paul Choiniere. Interment was in Griffin Hill Cemetery in Ogden, Quebec.
BRUCE W. OLDS
ST. ALBANS - Bruce W. Olds, 57, a lifelong resident of this community, passed away unexpectedly Friday evening, Aug. 5, 2005, at the Northwest Medical Center in St. Albans.
Bruce retired from Energizer (formerly Union Carbide Corp.) in St. Albans in 2001 after 35 years of service as a mechanic. He was later associated with Vermont Fastener in Swanton, Med Associates in Georgia and most recently had worked in the custodial department at Missisquoi Valley Union High School. He was also the owner of the Turkey Talk Gun Shop, which he operated from his home on Lower Newton Road and served as president of the Northern Vermont Chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation for four years during the mid 1990s.
A veteran of the Vietnam War, Bruce served with the U.S. Army as a Dog Scout trainer and handler receiving both a Purple Heart and the Bronze Star. He was a member of the American Legion, Green Mountain Post 1 in St. Albans.
Born in Burlington on Nov. 18, 1947, the son of the late Arthur L. and Mary (Greenia) Olds, he attended St. Anne’s Academy in Swanton and proudly received his GED in 2001. On May 26, 1973, he married the former Monique Lussier, who survives him.
In addition to his wife Monique of St. Albans, Bruce is survived by two sons and a daughter-in-law, Justin and Sarah Olds, and Joseph Olds; and his granddaughter, Grace Olds, all of St. Albans; and many nieces, nephews and in-laws. He was predeceased by his sister, Ruth Hemminway.
The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, Aug. 11, 2005, at 11 a.m. from Holy Angels Roman Catholic Church in St. Albans. Father Maurice J. Roy will be the celebrant and homilist. Interment services, with full military honors will follow in the family lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery, St. Albans. Friends may call at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton on Wednesday, Aug. 10, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.
Friends who wish may make gifts in Bruce’s memory to the charity of their choice.
MARGARET J. PRIOR
Margaret “Marge” J. Prior, 71, of Battle Creek, Mich., died Aug. 2, 2005 at home. She was born Aug. 18, 1933, to Stephen and Margaret (McKay) Jackson in Richford.
She graduated from Richford High School in 1951 and attended the University of Vermont and Youngstown State University.
Margaret worked as an office manager at C.O. Tools while living in Elkhart, Ind. In Battle Creek she co-owned Household Sales by Gloria & Marge, which she enjoyed for more than 15 years.
Margaret married David L. Prior on Aug. 1, 1959 - He survives. Also surviving are son, James (Heidi) Prior of Farmington Hills, Mich.; daughter, Kathryn “Cassie” (Scott) Smith of Midland, Mich.; grandchildren: Brittany and Grant Prior, Matthew, Christopher, Jacob, Katie and Allie Smith; brother, Keith (Betty) Jackson of Richford, and Charles (Roz) Jackson of Cortland, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers and three sisters.
Margaret was a member of St. Philip Catholic Church, Battle Creek Country Club, treasurer of the Cascade Hills Association and volunteered for Leila Follies. She was an avid Michigan State University sports fan and enjoyed attending Chesterfield events.
Friends may call from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Shaw Funeral Home, Battle Creek, where a Rosary will be recited at 7:30 p.m. Sunday. Mass of Christian Burial will take place 10 a.m. Monday at St. Philip Catholic Church, Battle Creek, with Rev. Father Charles Fischer officiating. Interment will be in Fort Custer National Cemetery, Augusta, Mich.
Memorial donations may go to St. Philip Catholic Church, American Heart Association, or Binder Park Zoo.

GARY B. WETHERBY
ST. ALBANS / RICHFORD - Gary B. Wetherby, age 44, died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005, at his home, following 32 years of failing health, from an auto accident in 1973.
He was born Oct. 9, 1960, in Morrisville, son of Wayne and Donna (Fiske) Wetherby. Gary enjoyed his computer and met may friends in chat rooms.
He is survived by his father and step-mother, Wayne and Ola Wetherby of Richford; his sisters: Robin Keller and her partner, Diana Francis of St. Albans, Roxanne Thompson and her husband, Wayne of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Laura Wetherby of Kings Bay, Ga.; a brother, John Wetherby and his wife, Mary Jane of Richford; Gary’s canine companion Gypsy; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was pre-deceased by his mother, Donna Wetherby.
A Funeral Service will be held Monday, Aug. 8, 2005, at 11 a.m. in the Brady & Levesque Funeral Chapel. There are no public visiting hours. Interment will be with his mother in Morrisville.

MAUDE MUMLEY MITCHELL
ALBURG - Mrs. Maude Mumley Mitchell, 91, a lifelong resident of the Alburg community, died unexpectedly late Wednesday evening, Aug. 3, 2005, in the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans City.
Mrs. Mitchell was born in Alburg on March 9, 1914, the daughter of Edward and Elizabeth (Carpenter) Mumley. She attended school in Alburg and on Nov. 19, 1938, she was married to Herman Mitchell, who predeceased her in 1965. A homemaker and mother, Mrs. Mitchell was a communicant of St. Amadeus Church in Alburg where she belonged to the Ladies of St. Anne and the Council of Catholic Women. In addition to her devotion to her parish she was very active with the Tri-County Foster Grandparents Program and worked with area children in that capacity for 25 years.
Mrs. Mitchell is survived by three children and their families: daughter Anne Poissant and husband Paul of Easton, Md., the Poissant grandchildren and great-grandchildren: Mark and his wife, Patricia Poissant and their children, Justin and Elizabeth, all of Huntingtown, Md., Patricia and her husband, Duane Royal, and their son, Alexander, all of Ashburn, Va., Michael Poissant of Columbia, Md. and Amy Poissant of Gaithersburg, Md.; son, Richard Mitchell and his wife, Eileen of North Hero and the Mitchell grandchildren: Robert Mitchell of Davenport, Iowa, and Megan Mitchell of Essex Junction; and daughter, Mary Jane Guerrina and her husband, Robert, of Swanton and his children and grandchildren: Robert Guerrina and his wife, Kathleen, and their daughters, Sophie and Lila, all of Brattleboro, and Sean Guerrina and his wife, Audrey, and their sons, Trevor and Tyler, all of Cicero, N.Y. Mrs. Mitchell also leaves four sisters and one brother: Viola Hall of Southington, Conn., Beulah Lewis of Alburg, Garnett Tarantino of Colchester, Calvin Mumley and his wife, Lorraine, of Alburg, and Patricia St. John and her husband, Paul, of Eastham, Mass.; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Mitchell was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters: Clarence Mumley, Elvah McCarney, Carl Mumley, Doris Letourneau and Milburn Mumley; and an infant great-grandson, Zachary Poissant.
The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, Aug. 8, 2005, at 2 p.m. from St. Amadeus Roman Catholic Church, Main Street, Alburg Village. Father Maurice U. Boucher, SSE, will be the celebrant and homilist. Interment will follow in the Mitchell family lot in St. Amadeus Cemetery. ANGELA MARIE “ANGIE ” KELLEY
MILTON - Angela Marie “Angie ” Kelley, 32, was called home to serve in Heaven Wednesday evening, Aug. 3, 2005, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, with her loving family by her side.
Angie was born on April 12, 1973, in the Copley Hospital in Morrisville.
She was a member of St. Ann’s Catholic Church. During high school, Angie was employed at Grand Union in Milton and at 7th Generation in Burlington. During this time she attended the Champ Program, where she received several ribbons while riding in Champ’s horse riding program. She graduated from the Milton High School Class of 1995.
Many of Angie’s favorite times were spent with the Onion River Program at the Howard Community Services and with J.C. Park. She loved the staffs and all they did to help her enjoy life. Words cannot thank her family at Onion River, for their love and all they did for Angie.
Angie always looked forward to her trips to McDonalds.
She also loved anchovy pizza and Reuben sandwiches.
Angie touched and brightened the lives and faces of so many around her. In her 39-day stay at the Fletcher Allen Health Care, she was unable to speak, due to a tracheotomy, but touched the hearts of all those at the hospital.
A special thanks is extended to all the staff at McClure 4, ICU, for their excellent care given Angie, and for the excellent care given through the years by Jane Gordon and Deanna Savard.
Surviving are her loving parents, Raymond and Nancy (Kelley) Myers of Milton; her special dog Cuddles and family dog Patty; by her grandmother, Theresa Myers of Winooski; her uncle and aunt, David and Monica Kelley of Franklin; very close and special aunt and uncle, Patty and Peter Woodworth of Milton, uncle Andy Kelley and friend Diane of Florida, aunt Janice Cross of South Burlington, aunt Carol and uncle Kevin Lavalley of Burlington, uncle James and aunt Claire Myers of Milton, aunt Bernadette and uncle Joe Eddy of Colchester; her longtime best friend, Cynthia Hebert of Burlington; and by several cousins, including Nicholas and Candice Woodworth of Florida.
She was predeceased by her grandparents: Armand Myers, Richard Kelley, Lorraine Guilmette Kelley Tremblay; and uncle Kevin Kelley.
She was also predeceased by her dogs and friends, Little Raymond and April.
A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 6, 2005, at 10 a.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton with Father Lawrence Ridgley officiating. Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Onion River Program, c/o Rich Carpenter, Howard Community Services, 102 South Winooski Ave., Burlington, Vt. 05401. Visiting hours will be held this evening (Friday) from 6 to 9 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.

WILLIAM CHARLES TORRISI, SR.
GEORGIA, Vt. / CRANSTON, R.I. - William Charles Torrisi Sr., 99, formerly of Cranston, R.I., died suddenly, Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans, Vt.
William was born Jan. 20, 1906, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, the son of Cirino and Rosalie Cram Torrisi. At the age of five years, he and his parents moved to Lawrence, Mass., where he grew up and was married to the former Grace N. Lineham in 1929. They then moved to Rhode Island. Grace predeceased him on April 13, 1993.
Mr. Torrisi is survived by his daughter, Carol Magnuson and her husband, Robert of Colchester, Vt.; his son, William C. Torrisi Jr. and his wife, Georgia of Georgia, Vt.; his grandchildren, Robert Jr., Russell, Ronald and Richard Magnuson; and his two step-grandsons, James and Christopher Pacheco; five great-grandchildren; and his three favorite dogs.
There will be no funeral services and burial will be held in Cranston, R.I. at the convenience of the family.

BARBARA C. KENZ
PITTSFORD, Vt. - Barbara C. Kenz, 88, died Aug. 2, 2005, at Haven Health Care Center in Rutland, Vt. She was born March 25, 1917, in Acadia Valley, Alberta, Canada, the daughter of Myron J. and Beatrice E. Chapple. She was married to Paul Kenz, who died in September of 2000.
Barbara was a great reader, enjoying a wide variety of books as well as periodicals. She had an active mind and took pleasure in discussions on current events and issues of the day. First and foremost she loved her family and friends going to great lengths to stay in touch even the old fashioned way by writing letters.
Survivors include her daughter, Nicha and husband, Charles McCuin of Pittsford, Vt.; a son, Steven Kenz of Highgate; a sister, Beatrice Campbell of St. Catherines, Ontario; and a brother, Miles Chapple of El Cajon, Calif.; one granddaughter; three grandsons; and two great-grandsons. She was predeceased by a brother, Charles Chappel.
A memorial service will be held in the Community room of the Village Manor in Pittsford at 6 p.m., Aug. 5, 2005. Pastor Ruth Ann Hill will officiate.

A graveside service will be held at a later date for the family at Riverside Cemetery in Swanton.
HARRY E. GILLILAN
ST. ALBANS - Harry E. Gillilan, 88, a lifelong area resident, passed away on Monday, Aug. 1, 2005, at Haven Health Center. He was born in Fletcher on April 27, 1917, the son of the late Archie and Mildred (Croizer) Gillilan. Harry was married to Audrey M. Putnam Gillilan, who predeceased him on Feb. 18, 1993.
He was a retired tool and die setter at the former Union Carbide Corporation (now Energizer) plant in St. Albans.
Survivors include three step-sons: Andrew Vincent of St. Albans Bay, Peter Vincent of Georgia, and Armand Duval of Fairfax; four step-daughters: Donna Domingue of Berlin, Paulette Irish of Everett, Wash., Penny Hidy of Port Charlotte, Fla., and Gloria Jefferson of Cape Coral, Fla.; a close friend, Shirley Austin of St. Albans; and several step-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Besides his wife Audrey he was predeceased by two brothers, Kenneth Gillilan and Harold Gillilan; and a sister, Corrine Camley.
It was Harry's wish that a graveside service be held in the East Highgate Cemetery next to his beloved Audrey. This service will be on Thursday, Aug. 4, 2005, at 11 a.m. The Reverend Herman Benjamin, Pastor of St. Paul's United Methodist Church will officiate.
The Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St., St. Albans, is assisting the family.
