BERTRAM A. ROBTOY
ST. ALBANS -- Bertram A. Robtoy, age 68, died Saturday evening, May 19, 2001, in the Veterans Center Hospital in White River Jct., following a long period of failing health. He was born in Burlington December 18, 1932 son of the late John and Mary (Greenwood) Robtoy. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict and held memberships in the American Legion Post #1 of St. Albans, Post 12 in Richford and also a member of the Disabled American Veterans. He was married to Catherine "Kitty" Grandfield, who predeceased him in 1990.
Bert is survived by nine children and their spouses Kevin Robtoy of Colchester, Lynn and John Mitchell of St. Albans Bay, Steven and Kim Robtoy of Richmond, Dawn Fendley and her companion Ed Longway of St. Albans Bay, John Robtoy of Colchester, Amy and Kevin Benjamin of Sheldon, Jeff Robtoy and his companion Tina Thompson of Highgate, Penny and Rick Patterson of St. Albans, Jason Robtoy of St. Albans and his special friend Shana Emch of Sheldon, Bert's special friend Danny Reilly of St. Albans Bay, 17 grandchildren, a great granddaughter, several cousins, nieces and nephews. Besides his parents was predeceased by his eight sibling Raymond, Herbert, Wilford (Joe), Clifton, Leonard, Delord (Jake), Madeline an Delma.
No funeral services or visitation are planned. Interment will be in the Vermont Veterans Cemetery in Randolph. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.
GLEN R. HEALD
SHELDON -- Glen R. Heald, 41, a lifelong resident of this area passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 17, 2001 at his home with his loving family at his side. He had been ill for two years. He was born in St. Albans August 11, 1959, the son of Arthur A. and Averill J. (Moore) Heald.
Glen was an enthusiastic supporter of all Bellows Free Academy music and sports activities and was recently awarded an Honorary Diploma from BFA. He was an ardent fan of hockey at the University of Vermont and closely followed St. Albans Steelers Youth Football Program and St. Albans Outlaws Softball Team.
In addition to his parents, Art and Averill Heald of Sheldon, survivors include his sister, Faith A. Heald of Santa Cruz, CA, two brothers and their wives, Randall and Kelly Heald of Swanton and Arthur, Jr. "Artie" and Nicole Heald of Sheldon, five nephews, James Angel, Derek Heald, Ryan Heald, Logan Heald and Luke Heald, aunts and uncles; Judy M. and Pat Luneau, Ellsworth and Bunny Moore, Dwane and Margaret Moore, The Reverend Carroll Moore and his wife, Lora, and Beverly Heald Sodaro. He also leaves cousins; Shaun Luneau, Matt and Ilze Luneau, Eric and Jennifer Luneau and Sara Luneau, Susan Coleman, David Moore, Kristen and Mark Moore, Scott and Noreen Moore, Jeff and Jill Moore, Martin Moore, Michael and Jean Moore and Danny Moore; Kirsten and Jeff Ezzo, Gregory and Maureen Sodaro, David and Diane Sodaro and Lisa and Curt Boardman.
Glen's family wishes to thank his special caregivers, Judy Luneau, Matt Luneau and the entire Luneau family.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 20, 2001 at 2 p.m. in the Collins-Perley Sports and Fitness Center, Route 104, St. Albans. Visitation will be at the Collins- Perley Center from noon until the time of the funeral. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to the Glen Heald BFA Athletic Awards, c/o Richard Palmer, Jr., or Dan Marlow, Bellows Free Academy, Main Street, St. Albans, VT 05478. Interment will be in the Heald Family Cemetery in Sheldon at the convenience of Glen's family. Arrangements are by the Heald Funeral Home, 87 So. Main St., St. Albans.
DOROTHY S. PARSONS
RICHFORD, VT./HIGHLAND, CALIF. -- Dorothy S. Parsons, age 89, widow of Leon Grayson Parsons, died May 5, 2001, at her home in Highland, Calif.
She was born Nov. 28, 1911 in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of the late Arthur & Sarah (Hall) Spain.
She was a resident of Highland, Calif. for the past 27 years. She was employed as a clerk/typist for the Panama Canal Company in the Panama Canal Zone for 19 years. She was a member of the Immanuel Baptist Church in Highland, Calif., and the Order of Eastern Star, Panama Canal Zone.
She is survived by her son and his wife, Mit & Mary Lou Parsons of Pine, Colo., her daughter and her husband, Lynn & Bill Barber of Highland, Calif., her brother and his wife, Richard and Nancy Berr of Villages, Fla., her three grandchildren, Dorothy (Barber) Rohrbach, Jana Parsons and Gina Parsons, all of Colorado.
A graveside service will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 p.m. at the Hillside Cemetery in Richford.

GERALD P. TREMBLAY
ALBURG SPRINGS Gerald P. Tremblay, 82, a lifelong resident of this community, died early Saturday morning, May 12, 2001, in the Verdelle Village Extended Care Facility in St. Albans Towns.
He was born in Alburg Springs June 23, 1918, the son of the late Joseph and Mattie (Boucher) Tremblay. Gerald was a master wood carver and will always be remembered for his ability to make fine crafted birds and decoys. He also made wooden crutches that were used for many years at the former Kerbs Memorial Hospital.
Gerald leaves his brothers and sisters, Omer Tremblay and his wife Winona, and Andrew and Clement Tremblay, all of Alburg Springs, and Philip Tremblay and his wife Sallye of Colchester, Laura Tremblay of Alburg Springs, and Rosanna Ouimette of Swanton. He is also survived by a niece, Joan Whitesell and her husband Ron of Alburg Springs and two nephews, Alan Ouimette and his companion, Sally Sprague of East Alburg, and Jason Tremblay studying at Florida State University in Tallahassee, Fla.
He was predeceased by a sister, Leona Tremblay, a brother, Paul Trembley, and a brother-in-law, John Ouimette.
Private funeral services were held Thursday, May 17, 2001, from the Kidder Memorial in Swanton. Interment followed in the family lot in Riverside Cemetery. Gifts in Gerald's memory may be made to the American Lung Association of Vermont, 30 Farrell Street, So. Burlington, VT 05403.
ETTA E. MORSE
RICHFORD -- Etta E. Morse, age 85, wife of Kenneth Morse, died Wednesday morning, May 16, 2001, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.
She was born March 17, 1916 in Richford, the daughter of the late Edwin & Alice (Miner) Coons.
Etta & Kenneth owned and operated a dairy farm in Stevens Mill Slide for 62 years, retiring in the early 1980s. She loved the land and their animals and the animals loved her. Etta & Kenneth were married April 11, 1938.
She is survived by her husband Kenneth Morse of Richford, several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters, Naomi Smith and Orpha Smith
A graveside service will be held Saturday at 3:30 p.m. at the Richford Center Cemetery with Herb Shipman officiating. There will be no calling hours.

CLARA BELLE JONES
MILTON -- Clara Belle Jones, 92, formerly of Milton, died peacefully Monday evening, May 14, 2001, at the Verdelle Village Extended Care Facility in St. Albans.
Clara Belle was born Dec. 11, 1908 in Colchester, the daughter of Dean C. and Lena B. Gonyeau Johnson. She was employed for many years as a lockmaker for the Corbin Lock Company in New Britian, Conn.
A longtime area resident, Clara was an auxiliary member of the American Legion Post #57 in Milton. An avid bingo player she also loved to cook, crochet and sew. She was well-known for the many handcrafts that she made for people.
Known affectionately by many as Aunt Clara, she will be greatly missed by those who knew her.
She is survived by her brother, Howard C. Johnson of Milton and his wife Elaine of Verdelle Village in St. Albans. Her sister, Dorothy Scribner also of Verdelle Village and several nieces and nephews, Sally, Steven, Dean and Todd White of Milton, Betty and David Blatt of Jericho, Mary, Paul and Michael Perry of St. Albans, Nancy and Mike Dion of Milton, Shirley Bosley, Ebenezer and Carol Johnson and Sandy Gratton, all of Milton, Linda Hamelin of Tuscon, Ariz., Judy and Gary Trivento of Georgia, and Debbie and Glenn Button of Milton, several grand nieces and nephews, as well as her special friends, Peter and Candi Gingras and John and Marjorie Bourgeois of Milton.
She was predeceased by her friends, Helen Ladue and Barbara King.
There will no visiting hours. However, a graveside memorial service will be held on Thursday afternoon, May 17, 2001, at 3 p.m. in the Milton Village Cemetery with the Reverend Jeffrey Cornwell officiating.

MYER MILLER
CHELSEA, MASS. -- Myer Miller, 89, of Chelsea, Mass., died Tuesday, May 15, 2001, at Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home.
Mr. Miller was born in Boston, Mass. and attended schools in Chelsea. He was the owner of Myer Miller Export in Chelsea for 50 years and was a member of the Free Masons. Mr. Miller was predeceased by his wife, Sylvia (Barenberg) Miller.
He is survived by his sons, Marshall A. Miller of Tewksbury, Mass., David G. Miller of Vermont, Steven A. Miller of Ohio, and a daughter, June E. Miller of Chelsea, Mass.; He is the brother of Francis Pearl of Flordia and the late Max Miller; loving grandfather of six grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held Friday, May 18, 2001, at 11 a.m. at the home of June Miller through Friday sundown. The Rabbi N. Cywiak will officiate. Contributions in his memory may be made to Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home, 17 Lafayette Ave., Chelsea, MA 02150.
FRANK D. BENWAY
GULFPORT, MISS. Word has been received from Gulfport, Miss. of the death of St. Albans native Frank D. Benway this April 18th past. Benway joined the U.S. Marine Corps in December 1943 and was in on three of the Marine Corps landings in the South Pacific theater and was wounded in Iwo Jima. After those days of difficulty, Benway returned to civilian life for a short time and attempted to return to the U.S. Marine Corps only to learn he would not be given his former rank of Sergeant. He then joined the U.S. Army and received his former rank of Sergeant and fought in Korea, then had three tours in the Vietnam War, and served with the NATO forces in Europe. Benway retired as Top Soldier after more than 25 years in the service of our country. He was awarded the Purple Heart, the Korean Service Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Campaign and Service Medal, and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal.
He was a member of various organizations including the Elks, the Disabled American Veterans, the VFW, and the American Legion. Following his years in the military, he returned to Vermont working at the Goss Dodge Auto Sales in Burlington and as their Plattsburgh, N.Y. Sales Manager. He spent the last 14 years of his life in Biloxi, Miss.
Benway is survived by his wife of 54 years, Florence of Gulfport; a daughter, Tonia McNamara of Gatesville, Texas; three sons, Frank D. Benway, Jr. and Bruce Benway, both of Ozona, Fla. and Mark P. Benway of Waterbury, Vt.; eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
RAMONA R. JOHNSTON
SWANTON Mrs. Ramona R. Johnston, age 50, a resident of Platt Street, died Monday morning, May 14, 2001, from injuries she received in an auto accident late Sunday evening. She was born in St. Albans Nov. 15, 1950, the daughter of Nora (Garrison) and the late Archie Boomhower. Ramona graduated from Bellows Free Academy and held positions at IBM and Barry Callebaut, USA, Inc. prior to becoming a custodian at the Georgia Elementary School.
She is survived by her mother, Nora Boomhower of St. Albans; her four children, Abner and his wife Shannon, Jerry, Jr. of Claremont, N.H., Lisa and her husband Rodney Bolby of Sheldon, Crystal and her husband Trevor Boomhower of Fairfield, Brian Jerry and his friend Marie Rivers, both of St. Albans, her special friend and companion Gary Hilliker of Swanton; eight grandchildren, her sister Gloria Clogston of St. Albans; two brothers, Arthur Boomhower and Wayne Boomhower, both of St. Albans; nine nieces and nephews and several cousins. She was predeceased by her father Archie on June 26, 1972 and by her brother, David Boomhower.
Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in Greenwood Cemetery in St. Albans. Pastor Kelly Warner, from the Georgia United Methodist Church, will officiate. Interment will follow in the Boomhower family lot in Greenwood. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.
RUTH ELIZABETH ROBISTOW
BURLINGTON -Ruth Elizabeth Robistow, 98, of Burlington died at Burlington Health and Rehabilitation Center on May 11, 2001. She was born in Utica, New York on January 6, 1903, daughter of Edward and Cynthia (Bowen) Brown. Ruth graduated from St. Albans High School in 1920. She worked as an operator for New England Telephone for 35 years until her retirement. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers Club of America. Ruth was a member of St. Mark Roman Catholic Church and a longtime member of the choir there. She was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. Ruth was the widow of Kenneth F. Robistow, who predeceased her on February 1, 1986.
She is survived by her three sisters-in-law, Ila W. Brown of St. Johnsbury, Laurie Larocque and her husband, Paul of Swanton, and Madeline Pijanowski and her husband, John of Burlington; one brother-in-law, Peter Robistow and his wife, Phyllis of Colchester; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by 3 sisters, Kathryn Brown, Alice Whitham, and Helen Brown; and 4 brothers, James, Edward, Neil, and John Brown.
A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at 11 a.m. Monday, May 14, 2001 at St. Mark Roman Catholic Church in Burlington. Interment followed in Resurrection Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice. Arrangements were by Boucher and Pritchard Funeral Directors, Burlington.
