RONALD F. ‘BOOGIE’ COLEMAN
ST. ALBANS / MILTON - Ronald F. Coleman, 77, a resident of the Lake Road in Milton, passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2005, at Northwestern Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born in St. Albans on Nov. 3, 1927, the son of the late Francis "Frank" and Mary (Douglas) Coleman. On Nov. 25, 1950, in St. Mary's Church in St. Albans, he married Madelyn Depatie who survives him.
"Boogie" was a sales representative for Nabisco Foods for thirty-two years, retiring in 1988. Prior to that, he was on the St. Albans Fire Department and a loan officer at Vermont Loan Agency. He was a graduate of St. Mary's High School and attended St. Michael's College. He was a World War II Navy Veteran and a member of Green Mountain Post 1, American Legion. Additionally, he was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church, a life member of the Knights of Columbus and the oldest surviving member and 11-time club champion at the Champlain Country Club.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Madelyn "Pidge" Coleman of Milton; two sons, Mark of Brookside, Fla. and Michael of St. Albans; five daughters and their husbands: Martha and Peter Deslauriers of St. Albans, Maureen and Robert Toof of Milton, Mary Lee and Michael Bourassa of Grand Isle, Ann and Lester Eaton of Milton, and Amy and Steele DuBrul of Shelburne; a brother and his wife, Fred and Theresa Coleman of St. Albans; three sisters: Loretta Magnan of Montpelier, Geraldine Mina of Barefoot Bay, Fla. and Shirley and Ray Petchell of Moore, OK; 20 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, William Coleman and Gordon "Pudgy" Coleman; and a sister, Constance Petraallo.
Boogie's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Northwestern Medical Center and Fletcher Allen Health Care for their exceptional care during his illness.
In accordance with "Boogie's" wishes, anatomical donation of his body will be made to the University of Vermont School of Medicine. A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 2, at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church.

KEVIN C. PERRY
SWANTON - Kevin C. Perry, age 45, died Wednesday morning, June 22, 2005, in nursing care in Springfield, following a two-year battle with cancer. He was born July 13, 1959, first child to parents, Chauncey and Elizabeth (Grimes) Perry of Greenwich, N.Y. He was predeceased by his parents, Chauncey in 1997 and Elizabeth in 1992.
Kevin graduated from high school in June 1979, at which time he enrolled in college at Adirondack Community College in pursuit of an accounting degree, which he received in May 1981. He then graduated from Adirondack Community College with a two-year accounting degree. He switched his major to Business Management and transferred to Southern Vermont College in Bennington, where he graduated cum laude in May 1983.
After marrying Cathy Pacher in 1982 and graduating from college in 1983, Kevin and his bride moved to Burlington in November, 1983, so they could start a life together. In 1984 they bought their first house together, they both worked for various businesses until Kevin decided to work for himself. In 1987 he bought his first Showtime Video in Winooski. He bought several of his own businesses, which he worked until he sold them all about 1993. The overly stressful hours of owning and operating so many small businesses and not being able to live much of a life lead to a divorce from Cathy.
Not long after the divorce from Cathy, Kevin met Fawn Putnam of Colchester. Kevin and Fawn remained together until he became succumbed to cancer symptoms on Oct. 17, 2003. Thank God he had two wonderful women in his life.
As far as a sports fan, the New York Yankees lost one of the biggest fans they ever had, NASCAR #24 Jeff Gordon lost a very dedicated fan, Shaq lost one of his biggest fans ever, as did the Philadelphia Eagles.
On a nice bright summer day, if he wasn’t working, you could always find Kevin fishing on a shoreline somewhere in Shelburne or Colchester, fishing for bass and perch.
At his request, services will be private. Burial will be in the Ascutney Cemetery in Windsor.

MARIE BEAN GILBERT
ST. ALBANS - Mrs. Marie Bean Gilbert, age 91, died Wednesday afternoon, June 22, 2005, in the Northwestern Medical Center following a brief illness. She was born in St. Albans, Dec. 29, 1913, daughter of the late Archie and Delia (Menard) Bean.
Mrs. Gilbert was a professional gardener, as shown by her flower gardens on Hoyt Street. She was married to Mahlon “Chris” Gilbert for over 61 years, Mr. Gilbert died May 9, 1999.
Her survivors include her two sons and their spouses, Edward David and Caro1ine Gilbert of Ocala, Fla., George Donald and Ann Gilbert of Swanton; six grandchildren, whom she loved dearly, and six special great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by all six of her siblings: Beatrice Hamilton, Gladys Hamilton, Archie Lefebvre, Walter Bean, Edward Bean and Robert Bean. Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. in the Brady & Levesque Chapel. Friends may call at the funeral home, 86 South Main, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Interment will be in the Gilbert family lot in Riverside Cemetery, in Swanton.

RALPH A. CASAVANT
ENOSBURG - Ralph A. Casavant, age 62, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at the Burlington Health & Rehab Nursing Home in Burlington.
He was born July 9, 1942, in Enosburg Falls, the son of the late Arland and Eleanor (Wallace) Casavant.
Ralph was a resident of Enosburg Falls most of his life. As a child he lived in Fairfield and was a 1960 graduate of Bellows Free Academy-St. Albans. Following high school he entered the U.S Navy serving during Vietnam at which time he received commendation medals for rescue missions. After his honorable discharge from the Navy he worked construction eventually becoming a self-employed carpenter. He also taught building trades at Enosburg Falls High School, a job that gave him the opportunity to teach kids his love of woodworking. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, working in his vegetable garden, finish carpentry and cabinet making. He was a member of the American Legion Post 42 of Enosburg Falls.
He is survived by his wife, Kay (Therrien) Casavant of Enosburg; his children, Christopher Casavant and his family of Franklin, and Angela Wright and her family of Enosburg; his grandchildren, Ellis, Kathryn, Emily, Mandy, and Rarity; one brother, Ridgley Casavant and his wife Donna of Enosburg; two sisters, Joy Kane, and Jill Caswell, both of Fairfield; one sister-in-law, Cecile Casavant of Highgate; several nieces and nephews. Ralph’s family would like to give a special thanks to NancyAnn Laroche for her dedication and special care given to Ralph over the past several years. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Wallace Casavant; and two brothers-in-law, Dennis Kane and Tim Caswell.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 25, at 2 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home Saturday from 12 p.m. until the hour of the funeral.
Interment with full military honors will be held Monday, June 27, at 3 p.m. at the Missisquoi Cemetery in Enosburg Falls.

GAIL PATRICIA SMITH
SHELDON - Gail Patricia Smith, 68, died late Monday evening, June 20, 2005, at the Vermont Respite House in Williston with her loving family by her side.
Gail was born on May 4, 1937, in Burlington, the daughter of John and Madeline (Martin) Racicot.
She was a longtime University of Vermont employee, retiring in 2001.
She enjoyed bowling at Champlain Lanes, where she was a member of Ken’s Body Shop Team.
Gail is survived by her children, Patti-Lynn Roberts and her husband, Ken, of Bolton, Greg Smith Sr. and his wife, Mary - Ann, of Stuyvesant, N.Y., Doug Smith Sr. and Melissa of Sheldon, and David Smith and Caryl of Milton. She is also survived by her grandchildren: Keith, Daniel, Amy, Ken Jr., Josh, Greg Jr., Steven, Doug Jr., Valerie, Logan, Josh, Hunter and Riley; and by her great-grandchildren: Kassie, Samantha, Shelby, Taylor, Kelly, Caled and Shauna.
Gail is also survived by her sisters, Jean Peck and Helen Withers, both of Florida, Sandy Racicot of Connecticut, and Francis Racicot of Burlington; and by several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, and her brother, Raymond.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 25, 2005, at 11 a.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.
Memorial contributions may be made in Gail’s memory to the Vermont Respite House, 99 Allen Brook Road, Williston, 05495.

ELIZABETH M. WESTCOT
FRANKLIN - Elizabeth M. Westcot, age 77, passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, June 21, 2005, at her home at the Franklin Homestead.
She was born Aug. 18, 1927, in Sheldon Springs, the daughter of the late Fred and Zilda (Sheltra) Bishop.
Elizabeth was raised and attended school in Sheldon. She was employed at Verdelle Village Nursing Home in St. Albans as a nurse’s aid for over 30 years. She was a member of the Franklin United Church, the American Legion Auxiliary Post 1 and the V.F.W. Auxiliary Robert Glidden Post, both of St. Albans. She enjoyed dancing, music, traveling, gambling trips to Montreal and most of all spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by her children: Deborah Parent and her husband, Normand, of Highgate, Diane Deslandes and her husband, Michael, of Sheldon, and Gordon Crofts Jr. and his fiancé, Ellen Bushey, of Milton; her grandchildren: JoAnne and Danielle Parent, Capt. Michael Parent and his wife, Alice, Angie, Tracie and Julie Deslandes, Kyle and Corey Crofts, Alysa, David and Brian Bushey; one great-granddaughter, Alaina Elizabeth Parent; two brothers and their wives, Lawrence and Vivian Bishop, and Ronald and Nancy Bishop, all of Franklin; two sisters-in-law, Hazel Westcot of Franklin, and Lila Crofts of Manchester, N.H.; several nieces and nephews; and many friends at the Franklin Homestead. Besides her parents she was predeceased by her first husband, Gordon Crofts Sr. on May 3, 1984; her second husband, Alan Westcot on Aug. 29, 2002; two sisters, Beulah Lunn and Beatrice Corwell; one brother, Raymond Bishop; and one half brother, Adelbert Longley.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning, June 24, at 11 at the Franklin United Church with Pastor Jason McConnell officiating.
Visiting hours will be held Thursday evening from 6 to 9 at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.

DANIEL A. SHEDRICK SR.
Daniel A. Shedrick Sr., 63, a life long resident of Franklin County, passed away after a long and courageous battle with cancer, at his home surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, June 18, 2005. He was born July 29, 1941, the son of the late George “Henry” and Louise (Lackey) Shedrick.
Danny worked for many years in construction and most recently until his illness at Century Arms. He was also a veteran of the Vietnam War and was a member of the American Legion Post 1 in St. Albans.
Danny loved hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a loving father, grandfather, companion and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Danny is survived by his long time companion, Mary Lafleur of Highgate; three daughters: Jo-Ann Julien and her husband, Bruce, of Milton, Linda Galaczy and her husband, Andy, Cindy Shedrick and her companion, Raymond Gagner; one son, Daniel “Boone” Shedrick Jr. and his wife Millie; his former wife and the mother of his children, Sandra Partlow Gerrow, all of Highgate. He also leaves behind 13 grandchildren: Maghon, Bruce Jr. and Amy Julien, Timothy “Tim” and Charles “CJ” Michel, Danielle and Andrew Tremblay, Joseph, Brian and Ashley Shedrick, Lacey, Sammie and Emily Graham; three brothers: Larry Shedrick and his wife Terry of Connecticut, Carlton Shedrick and his wife Jo Ann of North Carolina and Terry Shedrick and his companion Connie Cross of St. Albans; two sisters, Sherry Decell and her husband Norbert of St. Albans and Cheryl Jordan and her husband Mike of Nevada; several nieces and nephews; and a very special friend, Henry Banyea and his wife Shirley of Highgate.
Calling hours will be Thursday, June 23, 2005, from 11 a.m. to 12 noon at the American Legion Post 1 in St. Albans with burial immediately following at St. Louis Cemetery on Lamkin Street in Highgate. There will be a celebration of Danny’s life immediately following at the American Legion Post 1, 100 Parah Drive, St. Albans.

JEROME JOSEPH ‘JERRY’ MAYHEW
MONTGOMERY CENTER - Jerome Joseph “Jerry” Mayhew, age 68, passed away unexpectedly on June 19, 2005, while visiting his daughter in Hinsdale, N.H.
He was born July 31, 1936, in Montgomery Center, the son of the late Fred and Tanilla (LePage) Mayhew.
Jerry was raised in Montgomery and in 1948 his family purchased a farm in St. Albans. He was a 1954 Graduate of BFA St. Albans. In 1958 he started working for Union Carbide and was employed there for 34 years, retiring in 1992. He was a member of the Vermont National Guard for nine years, receiving his honorable discharge in 1965. He was a former member of the American Legion.
Jerry moved back to Montgomery Center in 1983, where he built his home on the same property that his family had spent summers on since 1969. He was very active in Montgomery community affairs serving as selectman for several years. He also was a member of the National Ski Patrol at Jay Peak.
He was a member of the B.P.O.E. 1566 of St. Albans. He coached Pop Warner football in St. Albans for many years. He also coached women’s softball in St. Albans and Montgomery
Jerry had many interests included being an avid outdoorsman, fishing, wildlife photography, bowling and, most of all, hunting.
He is survived by his children, Gregory Mayhew and his wife, Sally, of Greer, S.C., Randy Mayhew and his wife, Lyn, of Sheldon, and Jeri-Lynn Atwood and her husband, Elmer, of Hinsdale, N.H.; seven grandchildren: Gregory, Joshua, Leah, Jessica, Kaleb, Kaitlyn and Hillary; one great-grandson, Conor; his former wife, friend and mother to his children, Bonnie Mayhew of Georgia; two brothers, Robert Mayhew of Johnson, and Arthur Mayhew and his wife, Rita, of Dolgeville, N.Y.; six sisters: Germaine Cummings of Richford, Cecile Duncanson and her husband, Percy, of Merrimack, N.H., Lois Racine of Adams, Mass., Lorraine Bergeron of Sheldon, Ramona Lavalley and her husband, Donald, of No. Adams, Mass., and Alice Choquette and her husband, Gerald, of Middleville, NY; many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by two sisters, Theresa Snider and Evelyn Dobens; and an infant brother, Joseph Mayhew.
In keeping with Jerry’s wishes he will be cremated and a memorial service will be held Thursday, June 23, 2005, at 2 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls with Pastor Lyle Willey officiating.
A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home on Thursday from 12 p.m. until the hour of the funeral.
