MARION BEARD NORDHORN GUERMONPREZ
Marion Beard Nordhorn Guermonprez, 82, died in Farmville, Va., June 19,
2005. She was born May 4, 1923, in Bakersfield, Vt., and went to school in Swanton.
Marion was a retired employee of IBM and a member of the Eastern Star, Adah Chapter 52, Smithtown, N.Y.
She is survived by her second husband Frank Guermonprez of Farmville, Va.; one son and one daughter, Frederick Nordhorn and Annette Trombley; one grandchild, Andy Trombley; and two great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Fredinand Nordhorn of New York City, a Veteran of World War II and member of Masonic lodge of New York Alcone 695; her brother, George Beard of Swanton; her father, George W. Beard; and her mother, Ida Bundy Beard, both of Swanton.
She has requested that no funeral services be held.
REGINALD W. ‘REG’ KELLEY
ST. ALBANS - Reginald W. Kelley, 41, a lifelong area resident, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 25, 2005, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington. He was born in Burlington on Dec. 10, 1963, the son of Wilbur J. and Phyllis (Martin) Kelley. On Aug. 19, 2000, in North Hero, he was married to the former Svetlana Nicora, who survives him.
"Reg" was a 1981 graduate of Bellows Free Academy and a former member of St. Albans Lodge 1090, Loyal Order of the Moose. He was a machinist and crew leader for over 20 years at Hazelett Strip-Casting in Colchester. He enjoyed building street rods, working with metal, motorcycles and fishing. For several years he was a coach for his son Tyler's team in the SASA hockey program.
Besides his wife, Svetlana, he is survived by his parents, Wilbur and Phyllis Kelley of St. Albans; two sons, Tyler of St. Albans and Alex of Burlington; a sister, Debora Kelley of St. Albans; nieces and nephews, Jessica, Jennifer, Abigail, Christian, and Katelin; aunts and uncles: Dorothy Page of Liberty Hill, Texas, Donna and Richard Lesage of Winooski, Norman and Bernice Martin of Woodsville, N.H., Patricia Whitehead of Burlington, Frank and Charlene Wagner of Sheldon, Grace Minor of Manchester, N.H., Veronica Monette of Barre, and Gordon Kelley of Burlington; several cousins; his canine pet, "King"; special friends: Brian "Tiger" Paquette, Dale and Marcia Coon, Jeff Chamberlin, Jeff Turner, and Roland Webb; and several other close friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday at 12 noon in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, Fairfield Street. Interment will be in the family lot at St. Albans Bay Cemetery. Friends may call on Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St., St. Albans.

EDMUND LEO CROSS, JR.
ST. ALBANS - Mr. Edmund Leo Cross Jr., age 77, died Saturday afternoon, June 25, 2005, at his home. He was born in St. Albans, son of the late Edmund Leo and Bernice (Greene) Cross Sr., Jan. 21, 1928.
Ed married Barbara Hemingway, Aug. 28, 1954, and Mrs. Cross predeceased him March 30, 2002. He attended St. Michael’s College. At 18 years old, Ed went to work at the Canadian National Railroad as a shipping clerk. He was with CN for 20 years and then went to be a shipping clerk for Fonda Container where he retired in 1995. Ed, along with his wife Barbara, cared for the phone calls for Brady & Levesque Funeral Home for many years. He enjoyed model railroading, shipbuilding, fishing and was an avid historian.
Ed is survived by his three children, Sharon Cross, David Cross and his wife Kate, and Linda Cross, all of Swanton; his six grandchildren: Angela, Jessica, and Travis Cross, and Reginald, Ricky, and Rebecca Robair; a brother, Phillip Cross and his wife Betty of Stratford, Conn.; a sister, Winnie Rincon and her husband Joe of San Antonio, Texas; a sister-in-law, Hortence Cross of Tallahassee, Fla.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his parents and his wife Barbara, he was pre-deceased by his brother, Mitchell Cross.
Funeral Services will be held Wednesday, June 29, 2005, at 10 a.m. in the Brady & Levesque Funeral Chapel. Interment will follow in the Cross family lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., St. Albans, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. today (Tuesday).

MAE G. FRAZIER
ST. ALBANS - Mrs. Mae G. Frazier, age 78, died Sunday morning, June 26, 2005, in Redstone Villa. She was born in St. Albans, Sept. 11, 1926, daughter of the late Fred and Rosa (St. Denis) Goodroe.
Mae graduated from Holy Angels Commercial School in 1941 and was employed in accounting at the Franklin Bank from 1945 to 1949. In June 11, 1949, she married Lloyd H. Frazier, in Georgia. Mr. Frazier died Aug. 3, 1978. In 1959 Mae went back to the Franklin Bank, where she continued in accounting until her retirement in 1991.
Mae was very active with Holy Angels Church, The Ladies of St. Anne and Northwestern Medical Center Auxiliary Units. She was also a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Auxiliary Unit 758 and the Vermont 251 Club. She enjoyed traveling.
She is survived by her four children and their spouses: Lillian and Paul Blanchard, John and Barbara Frazier and Kevin Frazier, all of St. Albans, Morris and Polly Frazier of Vancouver, Wash.; nine grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Jean Goodroe of Swanton; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband she was predeceased by two brothers, Andrew Goodroe and Robert Goodroe.
Her family would like to extend their gratitude to Dr. Amy Roberts, Dr. Anne Dixon and all the staff of Redstone Villa, your kindnesses were greatly appreciated.

CHARLES W. JOHNSON JR.
GEORGIA - Charles W. Johnson Jr., 55, of Manor Drive, died unexpectedly Thursday morning, June 23, 2005, at the Northwest Medical Center in St. Albans.
Chuck was born Aug. 14, 1949, in Wilkinsburg, Pa., the son of the late Charles William Sr. and Marjorie Gumpher Johnson.
He grew up in Pennsylvania and was an IBM employee for over 33 years in New York, Virginia and most recently Vermont. A resident of the area since 1976, Chuck was married to Barbara Ellen Vogel on Sept. 3, 1977, in Irwin, Pa.
Chuck is survived by his wife, Barbara Johnson, of Georgia and their daughter, Cynthia Johnson of Essex Junction; his younger brother, David Johnson of Harrison City, Pa.; his sisters-in-law, Irene Vogel McIlvrid and her husband Ken of State College, Pa., and Virginia Obel and her husband John of Jupiter, Fla.; his brothers-in-law, Milton Charles Vogel of Corsica, Pa., Francis William Vogel Jr. and Henry Benton Vogel, both of Virginia, Robert James Vogel and his wife Clara of Virginia, and Norman Russell Vogel of Ohio; as well as several nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at 11 a.m. in Williston at Trinity Baptist Church located on Trinity Drive (off Mountain View Road) with Pastor David Stertzbach officiating.
Burial will follow at the Georgia Plains Cemetery in Georgia at 1:30 p.m.
Visiting hours will be held today (June 27) from noon to 2 p.m. and 4 to 7 p.m. at the Minor Funeral Home located on Route 7 in Milton.
ELAINE ANN GRANT
ST. ALBANS - Elaine Ann (Shepard) Grant, 73, a longtime St. Albans resident, died late Thursday evening in Northwestern Medical Center following an illness of 13 months.
She was born in Beebe, Quebec, April 4, 1932, the daughter of the late Eugene E. and Annie Mae (Rolleston) Shepard. She was the widow of Ralph E. Grant, who died May 19, 1975. They were married in Beebe, Quebec on June 28, 1952.
Elaine was a secretary at Bellows Free Academy for 22 years. Later she was a clerk for Blouin's IGA and Food City. She enjoyed playing cards and being with her family. She was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Franklin County Business and Professional Women, The Reparative Board, and Franklin-Grand Isle Housing Authority. She will be missed by the "Monday Night Card Girls."
Survivors include her son, John S. Grant and his wife Priscilla of Sheldon; her daughter, Joan S. Grant of St. Albans; three sisters, Freda Hibbard of Beebe, P.Q., Esther Choiniere of Coburg, Ont., and Louise Poulton of St. Albans; a brother, Raymond Shepard of Magog, P.Q. She also leaves four grandchildren: Amber Gerbode-Grant of Burlington, Jonathan Gerbode-Grant of East Haven, Conn., Matthew Grant and Michael Grant of Sheldon; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by six siblings: Linnie and Leona Shepard, Gladys Carr, Elwin Shepard, Barbara Henderson and Derward Shepard.
A funeral service will be held today (Monday) at 2 p.m. in St. Paul's United Methodist Church. The Reverend Herman Benjamin will officiate. Interment will be in the family lot in Greenwood Cemetery.
Friends who wish may make memorial contributions to Northwestern Medical Center Palliative Care, P. O. Box 1370, St. Albans 05478. Visitation was on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. in the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St., St. Albans.
THELMA B. ISHAM
ST. ALBANS - Mrs. Thelma B. Isham, age 94, died Saturday morning, June 25, 2004, at the home of her son, Spencer Isham. She was born in St. Albans, daughter of the late Arthur and Elizabeth (Hart) Boomhover, March 9, 1911.
She graduated from the Mary Fletcher School of Nursing in 1939. She operated the Sheltering Arms and Isham Manor Nursing Homes in St. Albans. She married Lt. Col. F. Spencer Isham in the fall of 1941. Mr. Isham pre-deceased her Dec. 12, 1965. She was a life member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the First Baptist Church of St. Albans.
The family wishes to thank Sophia Greenia, Denise Delorme, Samantha Mitchell and Dale Walsh, all of the Franklin County Home Health Agency, for the care they showed to Mrs. Isham.
Thelma is survived by her three sons: Spencer Isham and his companion Susan Ferrio, Bretton Isham and his wife Lucille, and Mark Isham and his wife Karlene, all of St. Albans; her nine grandchildren and their spouses: Sean and Lori Isham, Kim and Scott Mumley, Kristine Isham, Karlotta and Rob Reyome, Vicki and Eric Isham, Heather and Elyssa Isham and Crystal Hughes; her 15 great-grandchildren: Corey, Ashley, Jamie and Robbie Mumley, Karissa Columbe, Quinton, Devon, Zach and Madison Isham, Andrew and Ian Isham, Kayleena Isham, Brittany and Megan Reyome; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Thelma was pre-deceased by her parents; her husband, Lt. Col. F. Spencer Isham; and her sisters, Eleanor Heald, Aug. 25, 1994, and Elizabeth Lahue, Dec. 8, 2002; and her brother, Vernon Boomhover, Dec. 13, 2003.
Interment will be in the Isham family lot in Greenwood at the convenience of her family.

GEORGE CHARLES GARCEAU SR.
BARRE - George Charles Garceau Sr., 81, of Barre, died April 28, at his home. Born Dec. 18, 1923, in St. Albans, he was the son of Lador and Alma (Jacques) Garceau.
He attended Holy Angels Elementary School and in 2003 received his honorary diploma from Bellows Free Academy, both in St. Albans. During World War II, he entered military service on March 4, 1943, serving in the United States Army Infantry with the 45th Division 179th Regiment in the European Theatre. He was wounded in action in the Mediterranean in 1943 and was interned as a prisoner of war in Germany from October 1944 to June 1945 at Stalag VII-A, Stalag VII -B, Stuttgart, and Augsburg Prison Camp from which he escaped. He was re-captured and served the remainder of the war at the Dachau Concentration Camp. He was the recipient of two Bronze Stars with Oak Clusters, three Purple Hearts, the POW Medal and several other medals. For many years, he served in the Vermont Army National Guard.
On June 30, 1943, he married Mary Acebo in the St. Monica Catholic Church in Barre. Following their marriage, they made their home in Barre. In earlier years, George had worked for the St. Albans Railroad and for the Central Vermont Railroad until 1959. After leaving the railroad, he worked as a manager with the Sherwin-Williams Company on Main Street in Barre. In 1976, he owned and operated G&M Decorators in Barre and later worked for Allen Lumber Company in Barre until his retirement.
He was a longtime member of St. Monica Church in Barre, where he was an usher for many years, and also served on the financial board. His other memberships and affiliations in past years included the Barre Cribbage League, the Canadian Club, Elks Lodge 1535, and the Loyal Order of Moose, all of Barre, the Twin City Lanes Men's Bowling League of Berlin, the Boy Scouts of America in which he served as a leader, and Central Vermont Medical Center, where he was a long-time volunteer.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Garceau, of Barre; three sons: George Garceau Jr. and his wife, Judy, of Long Valley, N.J., and their five children, Adrian Garceau of Muscle Shoals, Ala., and his three children; and Alan Garceau of Graniteville and his wife Cindy and son Aron; a daughter, Tammi Holden and her husband, Stacy, of Barre, and their two children, Jessica and Stephany; three sisters: Harriet Garceau of Florida, Blanche Mossey of Massachusetts, and Margaret Young and her husband, Pete, of Montgomery Center; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. A granddaughter, Amy Garceau; two brothers, Adrien Garceau and Jean Garceau; three sisters, Theresa Kurek, Rose Tessier, and Cecile Lamphere, predeceased him.
LUCILLE P. MILLS, R.N.
ST. ALBANS - Lucille P. Mills, R.N., 82, a longtime resident of Beverly Court, passed away unexpectedly, Monday morning, June 20, 2005, at her home. She was born in Ste. Anne, Quebec, Canada on Nov. 26, 1922, the daughter of the late Dorile and Eva (Beauregard) Pigeon. She was the widow of Willard H. Mills, who died March 8, 2000.
Lucy was a graduate of Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans and the Mary Fletcher School of Nursing in Burlington. She had been a nurse in St. Albans Hospitals and was a member of the DAV auxiliary. She was an avid tennis player.
Survivors include her son, Thomas O. Mills and his wife, Julie, of Silver Springs, Md.; her daughter, Deborah M. McKim and her husband, Gerry, of Land O' Lakes, Fla.; two sisters, Maryann P. Zeno of Fairfax and Theresa P. Reynolds of Essex; six grandchildren: Chris Powell of Land O' Lakes, Fla., J.P. Powell of Long Beach, Calif., Lauren Mills of New York, N.Y. and Brenden Mills of Silver Springs, Md., Sean and Shane McKim of Tampa, Fla.; and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2005, at 3 p.m. at the family lot in Greenwood Cemetery, South Main Street, St. Albans. A reception in St. Paul's United Methodist Church in St. Albans will follow the service.
Memorials may be made to the charity of one's choice.

RALPH A. CASAVANT
ENOSBURG - Ralph A. Casavant, age 62, passed away Wednesday, June 22, 2005, at the Burlington Health & Rehab Nursing Home in Burlington.
He was born July 9, 1942, in Enosburg Falls, the son of the late Arland and Eleanor (Wallace) Casavant.
Ralph was a resident of Enosburg Falls most of his life. As a child he lived in Fairfield and was a 1960 graduate of Bellows Free Academy-St. Albans. Following high school he entered the U.S Navy serving during Vietnam at which time he received commendation medals for rescue missions. After his honorable discharge from the Navy he worked construction eventually becoming a self-employed carpenter. He also taught building trades at Enosburg Falls High School, a job that gave him the opportunity to teach kids his love of woodworking. He enjoyed being outdoors, hunting, working in his vegetable garden, finish carpentry and cabinet making. He was a member of the American Legion Post 42 of Enosburg Falls.
He is survived by his wife, Kay (Therrien) Casavant of Enosburg; his children, Christopher Casavant and his family of Franklin, and Angela Wright and her family of Enosburg; his grandchildren, Ellis, Kathryn, Emily, Mandy, and Rarity; one brother, Ridgley Casavant and his wife Donna of Enosburg; two sisters, Joy Kane, and Jill Caswell, both of Fairfield; one sister-in-law, Cecile Casavant of Highgate; several nieces and nephews. Ralph’s family would like to give a special thanks to NancyAnn Laroche for her dedication and special care given to Ralph over the past several years. Besides his parents he was predeceased by a brother, Wallace Casavant; and two brothers-in-law, Dennis Kane and Tim Caswell.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 25, at 12 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home Saturday from 10 a.m. until the hour of the funeral.
Interment with full military honors will be held Monday, June 27, at 3 p.m. at the Missisquoi Cemetery in Enosburg Falls.
