FORRIS “BUSTER” F. FULLINGTON
WATERVILLE -- Forris “Buster” F. Fullington, age 86, passed away at Fletcher Allen Health Center on April 30, 2005. He was born Feb. 23, 1919, in Johnson, son of the late Fred and Ruth (Tatro) Fullington.
As a youngster, Buster enjoyed playing baseball and fishing whenever time allowed him to take a break from helping on the family farm. Buster continued farming until he began working for the State Highway Department where he worked for 20 years before retiring. Buster enjoyed gardening, woodworking, and watching birds just as much as baseball games. Buster was a lifelong Lamoille County resident and a member of the Waterville Union Church.
In 1967, Buster married Marjorie Tilton with whom he enjoyed family gatherings, and playing cards with friends. Together they enjoyed working in their flowerbeds surrounding their home in Waterville. Marjorie predeceased Buster on Jan. 10, 1990.
In 1991, he married Carol Sweeney. Their years, though numbered, were blessed with peaceful harmony and loads of laughter as they welcomed the births of four grandchildren into their lives. Together they traveled to places neither of them had been before. They shared their love with Buster’s dog, Cocoa, and enjoyed quiet moments down by the river behind their home. Carol predeceased Buster on Aug. 8, 2000.
Buster was also predeceased by his two sisters, Joyce and Alice.
He is survived by his brother-in-law, Raymond Foote and friend Elaine Badger of North Wolcott; his special niece, Beverly Clark and husband, Herbert, of Burlington and her sons, Ernest Ferland, Jr. and wife, Val, of North Carolina, Danny Ferland of Jeffersonville; cousin, Kenneth Rice and Violet of Derby; cousin, Joan Brown and husband, Winston, of Illinois; and cousin, David Rice and wife, Debbie, of Pennsylvania; Marjorie’s family, Amos and Evelyn Tilton of Waterville, Charles and Ellen of Waterville, Teresa Tilton of St. Albans, Juanita and Dayton Cutting of Jeffersonville, and Lloyd “Pete” and Sandi Tilton of Waterville, and their families. His step-son, Melvin Sweeney of New York and his daughter, Isis, Sweeney of Florida; and his step-daughter, Estelle Leclair and husband, Jeffrey, and their children, Alex, Jeremy, and Zachary, all of Essex.
There will be no public visiting hours. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, May 4, 2005, at 1 p.m. in the Waterville Union Church, Waterville, with Reverend Jan Rathbun officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot in the East Cambridge Cemetery.

MARY MARGARET FAY
FLETCHER -- Mary Margaret Fay, 74 of Fletcher, was called home to be with the Lord on April 30, 2005. She was born in Fletcher, Vt. on April 21, 1931, the daughter of the late Lawrence and Betsy Sloan.
When Mary was younger, she worked at the Giant and Ames department stores and was also employed at Union Carbide.
While her family was growing, she was always by her husband Francis’ side, whether they were working on a household or automotive project, hunting, going to the races, or just taking a ride in the countryside together. She raised two active sons, who were the center of her life. As she got older she especially enjoyed spending time with her family and her many friends.
Mary came to look forward to the senior dinners where she met her friend John Nolan. She subsequently became quite close to John’s family, particularly enjoying spending time with his sons. In all her years in this life, she never missed a week without attending church, her faith ever guiding her life. Mary’s gift to us was her warmth, humor, her infectious laugh and giving spirit.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Francis C. Fay; her sister, Theresa Young; brother, Alton Sloan; brother-in-law, Lincoln Burleson. She is survived by two sons, Reggie Fay of Monroe, Ga. and Floyd Fay and his wife, Susan Fay, of Fletcher; grandchildren, Jessica Fay and Joshua Fay; step grandchildren, Claire Feldman and Gus Feldman; one sister, Ruth Burleson; her brother, Lawrence Sloan and his wife, Olive; two brothers-in-law, Benjamin Young and Sidney Fay and his wife, Janice; and her sister-in-law, Dorothy Sloan. Mary was especially close to her niece Sandy Zeno. She also leaves behind many nephews, nieces, cousins and friends.

Visiting hours will be held today, May 2, 2005, from 4 to 8 p.m. in the A. W. Rich Funeral Home, Fairfax Chapel. A funeral Mass will be celebrated of Mary’s life and will be held in St. Luke’s Catholic Church, Huntville Road, Fairfax, on Tuesday, May 3, at 10 a.m. with Rev. Lawrence Ridgley officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date at the convenience of the family.

FREDERICK A. ‘SHORT’ DRAPER, JR.
ST. ALBANS / FAIRFIELD - Frederick A. "Short" Draper Jr., 71, a lifelong area resident, passed away at his home on Tuesday, June 28, 2005, following a brief illness with his loving family at his side. He was born in Fairfield on April 30, 1934, the son of the late Frederick A. Draper, Sr., and Viola (Mitchell) Draper. On May 14, 1988, at the First Congregational Church in St. Albans, he was married to Charlene Shadle, who survives him.
"Short" was employed for many years on the Soule, Branon and Fairchild dairy farms in Fairfield. For the past 20 years he drove trucks for L. W. Young, Inc. and John Martell. He enjoyed carpentry, snow plowing and camping.
Besides his wife Charlene of St. Albans, he is survived by six daughters; Rita Draper of St. Albans, Julie Gardner and husband Michael of Orlando, Fla., Sue Longway, Shelia Wiegand and husband Gerald, and Elliemae Draper and Kevin Mitchell, all of St. Albans, and Mary Blackert and husband Gary of Charlotte, N.C.; five sons; Michael Bailey and wife Allison, Charles Bailey, and Richard Garrett and wife Bonnie, all of St. Albans, Todd Lapan and wife Laurie of Enosburg, and Jimmy Garrett; three brothers; Gary Draper and wife Veronica of Enosburg, Ronnie Draper and wife Diane of West Charleston, and George Draper and wife Phyllis of St. Albans; a sister, Carol Graves of California; a sister-in-law, Margaret Draper of Fairfield; grandchildren Allen Reynolds, Kelly Reynolds, Matthew Reynolds, Joshua Reynolds, Corey Wiegand, Patrick Wiegand, Jeremy Wiegand, Jennifer Gardner, Dalton Bailey, Haeli Blackert, Jade Blackert, Cody Lapan, and Nicholas Lapan; a great-grandson, Devon Wiegand; many nieces and nephews; and his extended family. Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Lillian Draper, a sister, Margaret Garrett;, and a brother, Donald Draper.
The family wishes to extend a special thank you to his sister-in-law, Veronica for all she has done for "Short" and his family during his illness.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in the Heald Funeral Chapel with Pastor Judy Kennedy officiating. Interment will be in the family lot at Sanderson Corner Cemetery in Fairfax. Friends are invited to call on Thursday from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St., St. Albans.

DARRELL LLOYD LASLY, SR.
SWANTON - Darrell Lloyd Lasly Sr., a native of Temple, Texas and a resident of this area for the past 16 years, died early Tuesday evening, June 28, 2005, in the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans City with his loving family by his side.
Born in Temple, Texas on May 8, 1951, he was the son of the late Marvin Sr. and Ruby (Smart) Lasly.
Darrell became well known as he walked daily throughout the Swanton community, often stopping to check on several of his senior citizen friends at the Village Green Apartments, as well as visiting at many Swanton businesses. He occasionally helped his good friend George Foster with the care and maintenance of the four Swanton town cemeteries and, until his illness, was studying for his GED at the Abenaki Tribal Headquarters. He was a member of the Swanton Christian Church.
Darrell leaves two sons, Darrell Lasly Jr. of Swanton and John Kesick of Saco, Maine; his daughter, Texann Benjamin of Swanton; four grandchildren, Melinda Agoney, Felicia Kesick, Sean Benjamin and Dalton Kesick; nine brothers and sisters, Marvin Lasly Jr. of Temple, Mike Lasly of Aquilla, David Lasly of Fort Worth, Ricky Lasly of San Angelo, Joan Rushing of Moody, Barbara Sosa of Belton, Helen Peters of Temple, Annette Skrabanek of Temple and Vickie Horsch of Temple, all located in the state of Texas.
In addition to his parents, Darrell was predeceased by two brothers, Donald and Curtis Lasly, and a sister, Janie Lasly.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, July 1, 2005, at 11 a.m. from the Swanton Christian Church, Academy Street, Swanton Village. The Reverend Dan Brueckner will officiate. Interment will take place at a later date in Bellwood Cemetery in Temple, Texas. There will be no public calling hours.
Gifts in Darrell’s memory may be made to the Swanton Christian Church or to Palliative Care Pathways.
Arrangements have been under the direction of the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton.
RONALD F. ‘BOOGIE’ COLEMAN
ST. ALBANS / MILTON - Ronald F. Coleman, 77, a resident of the Lake Road in Milton, passed away on Tuesday, June 21, 2005, at Northwestern Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born in St. Albans on Nov. 3, 1927, the son of the late Francis "Frank" and Mary (Douglas) Coleman. On Nov. 25, 1950, in St. Mary's Church in St. Albans, he married Madelyn Depatie. who survives him.
"Boogie" was a sales representative for Nabisco Foods for 32 years, retiring in 1988. Prior to that, he was on the St. Albans Fire Department and a loan officer at Vermont Loan Agency. He was a graduate of St. Mary's High School and attended St. Michael's College. He was a World War II Navy Veteran and a member of Green Mountain Post 1, American Legion. Additionally, he was a communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church, a life member of the Knights of Columbus and the oldest surviving member and 11-time club champion at the Champlain Country Club,
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Madelyn "Pidge" Coleman of Milton; two sons, Mark of Brookside, Fla. and Michael of St. Albans; five daughters and their husbands: Martha and Peter Deslauriers of St. Albans, Maureen and Robert Toof of Milton, Mary Lee and Michael Bourassa of Grand Isle, Ann and Lester Eaton of Milton, and Amy and Steele DuBrul of Shelburne; a brother and his wife, Fred and Theresa Coleman of St. Albans; three sisters: Loretta Magnan of Montpelier, Geraldine Mina of Barefoot Bay, Fla. and Shirley and Ray Petchell of Moore, OK; 20 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, William Coleman and Gordon "Pudgy" Coleman; and a sister, Constance Petraallo.
Boogie's family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Northwestern Medical Center and Fletcher Allen Health Care for their exceptional care during his illness.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Saturday, July 2, at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Catholic Church, Fairfield Street. A luncheon will follow the Mass at the American Legion Hall, 100 Parah Drive, St. Albans.

WILLIAM ‘BILL’ CRAWFORD
COVINGTON, Ga. - William “Bill” Crawford, 67, of Covington, died Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at Rockdale Medical Center. He was the son of the late William Theodore and Mary Adrianna O’lena Crawford, and was a member of St. Augustine Catholic Church.
Mr. Crawford loved building and working on airplanes, riding motorcycles, collecting, and woodcarving on guns. He enjoyed camping, hunting, fishing, shopping, and was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather.
Surviving are his wife, Annie Crawford; daughters Anne Marie Crawford and Shari Crawford Stevenson of Covington; son William James Crawford of Beverly Hills, Fla.; granddaughters Samantha and Maura Haines, and Caitlin Bockus; brothers and sisters-in-law Keith and Denise Crawford of Swanton, Vt., and James and Diane Crawford of Fairfield, Vt.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his sister, Mary Teresa Mayo.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 30, 2005, at 3 p.m. at the Chapel of Caldwell & Cowan in Covington, Ga. Celebrant will be Rev. Father Luke Ballman and Deacon Rich Mickle with interment following at Lawnwood Memorial Park.
RICHARD ALAN “BRAT” VANSLETTE
SWANTON –– Richard “Brat” Vanslette, 44, a lifelong Swanton resident, died suddenly late Tuesday evening, June 28, 2005, in the Northwestern Medical Center in Saint Albans City.
Born in Saint Albans on, April 21, 1961, he was the son of the late Frederick and Viola (Barratt) Vanslette. He attended Swanton schools.
Brat was very mechanically inclined and, prior to his illness, worked as an automotive mechanic.
He leaves a son, Dakota Vanslette of Burlington; two sisters, Lisa Greenia and her husband Douglas of Swanton and Deborah Laroche and her husband Matthew of Saint Albans; one brother, Frederick Vanslette and his wife Celeste of Swanton; four aunts, Doris Gero, Shirley Korte and her husband Michael, Florabelle Merserve and Vida Barratt all of Swanton; eight nieces and nephews, Jennifer and Jessie Rash, Melinda and Shelby Quesnel, Nourie Cadieux, Josh Vanslette and Branden and Justin Greenia; many cousin, s including four very special cousins, Michael and Marc Korte, Kimberly Rushford her husband Herb, and Tim Gero, all of Swanton, and close friend Robert Quesnel of Swanton.
Brat was predeceased by his mother Viola; his maternal grandparents, Amelia and Vernal Barratt; aunts and uncles, Irene and Donald Barratt, James and Evelyn Barratt, Roger Barratt, Norman Gero, and Grace Murray, as well as a cousin Rosemary Barratt.
Funeral Services will be held Sunday, July 3, 2005, at 2 p.m. from the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton. The Reverend Robert Bjerkaas, pastor of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Saint Albans will officiate. Interment will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Sunday afternoon from 1 p.m. until the hour of the funeral.
J. ROGER BENJAMIN
ALBURG SPRINGS - Joseph Roger Benjamin, 66, a lifelong Alburg resident, died unexpectedly Sunday afternoon, June 26, 2005, in an aviation accident in Highgate Center. Roger was an avid pilot for many years and he left this world doing what he loved. He was a longtime member of the Experimental Aircraft Association as well as the Low and Slow Chapter in Punta Gorda, Florida
Born in Burlington on March 16, 1939, he was the son of the late Gerald and Jeanne (Charbonneau) Benjamin. He attended schools in Alburg and on Sept. 3, 1966, was married to the former Emily Louise Theoret, who survives him.
In addition to his abilities as a private pilot, Roger was also certified as a refrigeration expert, pipe fitter, and welder. He owned and operated Benjamin’s Refrigeration for nearly 30 years. He was also accomplished on the keyboard and guitar and established a band known as The Touch of Country, playing throughout Vermont and Florida. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Aerie 4218 of Milton.
Roger faithfully served his country in the United States Navy during both the Cuban Missile Crisis and Vietnam Era. He was a member of the American Legion of Port Charlotte, Fla.
Besides his wife, Emily Louise, of Alburg Springs, Roger leaves his daughter, Kelly Benjamin of Alburg Springs; his son, Charles Benjamin of Rutland; two sisters and their husbands, Rita and Guy Baillargeon of Agoura Hills, Calif. and Bernadette and Tom Jones of Essex Junction; as well as several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 2, 2005, at 11 a.m. from the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton. Father Maurice U. Boucher, SSE will officiate. Interment with full military honors will follow in St. Amadeus Roman Catholic Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home prior to the service beginning at 10:30 a.m. and again following the committal at a bereavement reception in the St. Amadeus Parish Center, Main Street, Alburg Village.

HENRY P. GODIN
MONTGOMERY CENTER - Henry P. Godin, age 88, passed away with his loving family at his side on Monday, June 27, 2005, at Our Lady of the Meadows in Richford from a broken heart due to the passing of his dearly beloved wife Geraldine Godin on June 8, 2005
He was born June 13, 1917, in Troy, Vt., the son of the late Joseph and Regina (Prive) Godin
He was a resident of Montgomery Center most of his life and was a member of St. Isidores Catholic Church and was Chief Ranger of the Catholic Order of Foresters Court 1607. He was employed as a meat cutter at Perry’s Market in Richford and Puffer Lumbra’s Market in Montgomery Center. He was also employed at Zack’s on the Rocks in Montgomery Center and at the Montgomery School as the janitor and general maintenance person retiring in 1997. He was Montgomery’s representative to the Vermont House of Representatives in 1949 and was a member of the Montgomery School Board for 30 years from 1949 to 1979. He was also a charter member of the Montgomery Fire Department, and a member of the former Montgomery Grange. He enjoyed playing cards, Domino’s and board games. Along with his wife Geraldine they enjoyed working in their flower and vegetable gardens.
He is survived by two sons, Dennis Godin and his wife, Sheila, of Essex, and Brent Godin of Montgomery; a step daughter and her husband, Betsy and David Holcomb of St. Albans; two step sons and their wives, George and Jayne Carpenter of Enosburg, and Jack and Judy Carpenter of Bakersfield; 10 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Albert Godin of Springfield, Mass., and Leo Godin of Athol, Mass.; a sister, Bertha Hart of North Troy; two sisters-in-law, Evelyn Hart of Montgomery Center, and Charlene Johnston of Williston; several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his first wife, Hilda (Gonyea) Godin on March 10, 1976, they were married July 22, 1940; his second wife, Geraldine (Tibbits) Godin, they were married Aug. 20, 1977; four sisters, Theresa Smith, Gladys Fecteau, Cordelia Allain, and Grace LaFlam.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning, June 30, 2005, at 11 at St. Isidores Catholic Church in Montgomery Center with Rev. Frank Eksterowicz celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. Isidores Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.

MYRTLE E. MURRAY
BAKERSIFIELD - Myrtle E. Murray, age 79, passed away Monday evening, June 27, 2005, at the home of her son in Franklin.
She was born Sept. 25, 1925, in Fairfax, the daughter of the late Arthur and Helen (Cross) Wagner.
She was a resident of Bakersfield and Sheldon most of her life. Myrtle was a homemaker and helped her husband farming. She was also a dedicated mother especially to her daughter Diane whom she cared for all of her life.
She is survived by four sons: Donald Murray of Jeffersonville, Henry Murray and his wife Thelma of Richford, James Murray of Franklin, Gary Murray and his wife Michelle of Franklin; four daughters: Doris Royea of Richford, Virginia Geraw of Milton, Laura Russell and her husband Charlie of Franklin, and Diane Murray of Bakersfield; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, Henry Wagner of St. Albans; one sister, Doris Stetson of Lebanon, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, William Murray; two sons, William and Danny Murray; one daughter, Bonnie Murray; and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 30, 2005, at 3 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls with Pastor Lyle Willey officiating. Interment will follow in the West Enosburg Cemetery. There will be no visiting hours.
