JACK GANIN
ALBURG, Vt. / FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla. -- Jack Ganin, 85, died on May 2, 2005, in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. following a stroke.
Jack was born in the Bronx, N.Y., the eldest of three sons. At around the age of nine, Jack began working at his father’s tire business. Through his determination, tireless work that spanned nearly 60 years and savvy investing, Jack took a small mom and pop organization and transformed Ganin Tire into a large and successful business.
Jack joined the U. S. Navy during World War II. He served as Boatsmate 1st Class, piloting and landing aircraft in the Pacific theater. Jack believed in democracy and the preservation of the Constitution of the United States. In 1980, Jack met Barbara, the love of his life. Together they lived the life that both of them wanted and deserved: traveling, relaxing together, spending time with family. Jack’s love for his wife Barbara was real and genuine. He relied upon her and treasured her. Barb always said “Jack was one of the good guys” and misses him deeply. Jack never differentiated between family and his extended family through Barbara. He loved all of his children and grandchildren equally. He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; his children, Howard and wife Marcia, Abby and husband Abe, Debbie, and Pam and husband Tommy; 13 grandchildren, Marissa and husband Amichai, Andrew, Shari, Christopher, Megan and husband David, Ian, Simon, Erin, Keren, Jaclyn, David, Chelsea and Lucy; and three great-grandchildren: Nachie, Levi, and Chava.
He was predeceased by his parents, Morris and Fanny Albert; and his brothers, Sol and Jerry.
Jack was admired for his sharp mind, loving heart, determination, thirst for knowledge and easy going manner. He lived a rich life and was able to achieve everything he really wanted to do. Jack is certainly a treasure lost, but he will not be forgotten.
