LEON D. LOCKERBY
ISLE LA MOTTE -- Mr. Leon D. Lockerby, 72, a resident of the Church Road in Isle La Motte, died early Sunday morning, Nov. 21, 2004, in the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans City.
Born in Northfield, Vt. on March 28, 1932, he was the son of the late Earl and Sabra (Lasalle) Lockerby. He received his elementary education in Isle La Motte and graduated from the former Alburg High School. He later attended the Vermont Technical College in Randolph, graduating in 1951. On July 24, 1955, he married the former Jean Bowman who survives him.
From 1955 until returning to Isle La Motte in 1974, Leon and Jean lived in the Burlington and Shelburne areas. For 37 years he was associated as Supervisor of Dairy Manufacturing for the University of Vermont.
Leon was a longtime member of The Old Stone United Methodist Church, The Isle La Motte Fire Department and The Isle La Motte Lodge 81 F. & A.M. He faithfully served his country during the Korean Conflict in the United States Navy.
In addition to his wife Jean of Isle La Motte, Leon leaves a daughter, Gail White, her husband Robert and their children, Samantha Lockerby and Jessica White all of Isle La Motte; two sons, Larry Lockerby, his wife Claire and their daughter, Elizabeth of Isle La Motte and Scott Lockerby of Shelburne. Also surviving are four brothers, Eldon Lockerby and his wife Helen of Milton, Milo Lockerby and his wife Lisa of Florida, Carl Lockerby of Isle La Motte and Harvey Lockerby of Milton; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides his parents, Leon was predeceased by a sister, Ina Robinson; and three brothers, Alvin, Donald and Morris Lockerby.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Dec. 3, 2004, at 11 a.m. from The Old Stone United Methodist Church, Church Road, Isle La Motte. The Reverend Marcheta Townsend will officiate. There will be no public calling hours and interment will be at the convenience of the family.

ROBERT A. MONTGOMERY SR.
SHELDON/FRANKLIN -- Robert A. Montgomery Sr., age 70, husband of Irene (West) Montgomery, passed away Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at the Redstone Villa Nursing Home in St. Albans with his loving family at his side.
He was born Dec. 14, 1933, in Fairfield the son of the late Dell and Lela (Derosia) Montgomery.
Bob was a resident of Sheldon most of his life where he served the town as constable for several years and moved to Franklin in September of 1995. He was a member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Sheldon and was employed at the Missisquoi Pulp Mill in Sheldon for 32 years retiring in 1989. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Richford Council and a former member of the Eagles Club. In his spare time he worked on small engines and enjoyed being outdoors hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed country music and playing the guitar
He will be remembered by his family as a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Irene (West) Montgomery of Franklin; they were married Jan. 7, 1952; a son, Robert A. Montgomery Jr. and his wife Gale of Sheldon; five daughters and their husbands, Margaret and Roger St. Cyr of St. Albans, Polly and Gille Thibault of Milton, Sherry and Tim Clark of Shoreham, Peggy and Roland Daudelin of Swanton, and Ann and John Mason of Deptford, N.J.; 10 grandchildren, Cpl. Ryan St. Cyr, Tracy Sweetser and her fiancé Andy Davis, Shannon Keniston and her husband Darren, Kevin Montgomery and his fiancee Denise Forest, Katie Montgomery, Amanda Lajoie, Eric Daudelin and his wife Erin, Melissa Ann Coleman, Jason Irish, Shawn Irish and his fiancee April McGee; two great-grandchildren, Jordan and Zackary Sweetser; six sisters, Vera Emch of Enosburg, Phyllis Robarge of Richford, Ruth Randall and her husband Paul of Cambridge, Janet Wells and her husband Kenneth of Sheldon, his twin sister, Betty Neveau and her fiancé Wayne Kennedy of Enosburg, and Jackie and Robert McDonald of Tilton, N.H.; several nieces and nephews; his in-laws and their spouses, Wanda and Fernando Plante of Richford, Reginald and Rita West of Rice Hill, Marion Teague of Sheldon, Virginia Goulette of St. Albans, Leo and Marie Ann West Jr. of Sheldon, Betty Beyor of St. Albans, Joyce and Danny Menard of Fairfield, Leland and Sharon West of Johnson, Elaine and Donald Reed of Sheldon, Barbara and Richard Colby of Franklin, Carolyn and Andre Rondeau of Sheldon, and Patty and Dennis Nolan of Highgate. Besides his parents he was predeceased by five brothers, Philip, Wendell, Alton, Merriman and Frederick Montgomery; and a sister-in-law, Gloria Beyor.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning, Nov. 23, 2004, at 11 at St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Sheldon with Reverend Bernard Bechard celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial.
Visiting hours will be held today (Monday) from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.

WILLIAM J. EVERTS
WINOOSKI, Vt. / PHILADELPHIA, Pa. -- William J. Everts, 89, of Winooski, Vt., formerly of Philadelphia, Pa., died peacefully at home on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, following a long illness.
Bill was born in Philadelphia on March 6, 1915, the son of the late William and Ida (Sullivan) Everts. He was married on Feb. 26, 1938, to Bertha (Susko) Everts who predeceased him in 1973.
During World War II, Bill was employed with the Midvale Steel Mill in Pennsylvania as a defense worker, making naval ordnance. Following the war, he worked for 25 years at Link-Belt Co. ( FMC Corp.), retiring in 1970.
Bill was a lifelong member of the Democratic Party and of the United Steelworkers of America (AFL/CIO). He was an avid outdoorsman who loved deer hunting, deep sea fishing, Notre Dame Football and the Philadelphia Phillies.
He was a talented sketcher, wood worker, all-around handyman, and wonderful storyteller. His greatest love was being "Pa" to his seven wonderful grandchildren.
He is survived by two sons, William J. Everts, Jr. and his wife Patricia of Winooski, and Joseph W. Everts and his wife Judith of Marlton, N.J.; his sister, Nan Weiss of Hatboro, Pa.; his seven grandchildren, Deirdre Raleigh and husband Jeff, Megan Everts, Jen Everts, Bill Everts III, Bridget Everts, Amie Tamburelli and husband Michael, and Matthew Everts; three great-grandchildren, Dakota and Jack Raleigh, and Luke Tamburelli; and many nieces and nephews.
Bill was predeceased by four sisters, Mary Crossley, Dorothy Deserable, Mildred Fornwalt and Helen Watkins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, Nov. 24, 2004, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Winooski. A memorial service and interment will be held in Philadelphia at the convenience of the family. There will be no visiting hours.

KATHRYN A. BELLVILLE
MERRIMACK, N.H. -- Kathryn A. Bellville, 88 of 78 Amherst Rd., and formerly of 6 Bradford Drive, Merrimack, N.H., died Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at St. Joseph Hospital in Nashua, N.H. after a brief illness.
She was born in Detroit MI on May 29, 1916, a daughter of the late Albert F. and Bertha A. (Pomeroy) Fairbanks.
Before retirement, she was employed at Sanders Associates.
Mrs. Bellville is the widow of Fred J. Bellville, who died in 1993 and is also pre-deceased by her three brothers, Donald, Alvin and Doug Fairbanks, and a sister, Hazel Buzwell.
Members of her family include a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Kathy Bellville of Clearwater, Fla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Judy and Lawrence Decato of Merrimack; six grandchildren, Cathy Furze of Jaffrey, N.H., Lori Roth of Stillwater, Minn., Lawrence "Chip" Decator of York, Maine, Donna Leonard of Jupiter, Fla., Michael Bellville of Littleton, N.H. and Lisa Fritz of Francestown, N.H.; 17 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Betty Gaboriault of St. Albans, Vt.; and several nieces and nephews.

ROMEO P. COULOMBE
BERKSHIRE -- Romeo P. Coulombe, age 50, passed away unexpectedly Sunday morning, Nov. 21, 2004, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington as the result of an automobile accident.
Romeo was born in St. Albans on Sept. 25, 1954, the son of the late Laurent and Lucianne (Paquette) Coulombe.
Romeo was a life long resident of Berkshire and was a member of All Saints Catholic Church. As a young man he worked for Gabe Godin hauling hay, then for the St. Johnsbury Railroad and for Luc Desautel as an equipment operator. He then started R.P.C. & Son Bulldozing which he operated for many years with the help of his son Alan. Romeo was a former pack leader for the Berkshire Boy Scouts. He loved to hunt and fish and most of all spend time with his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Janet (Vetter) Coulombe of Berkshire; his son, Alan Michael Coulombe of Berkshire; his former wife and Alan's mother, Joanne Getty of Enosburg; his stepson, Irving Wetherby and his wife Christina of Berkshire; a stepdaughter, Stacy Betournay of Cornwall, Conn.; stepgrandchildren, Kyle Betournay, Jade Wetherby, Taylor, Keagen and McKenzie Wetherby; two brothers, Claude Coulombe and his wife Cathy of Richford, and Leo Coulombe of Enosburg Falls; a sister, Denise Bockus and her husband Richard of Stanbridge Est, Quebec; one niece, Danielle Coulombe; three nephews, Joey, Andy, and Ricky Bockus; and several aunt, uncles and cousins. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his aunt and uncle whom raised him, Victor and Lillian (Boucher) Paquette.
Funeral services will be held Friday morning, Nov. 26, 2004, at 10 at All Saints Catholic Church in Richford with Reverend Frank Eksterowicz celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
Friends and relatives may call on the family on Friday morning from 8:45 to 9:45 at the Spears Funeral Home, 140 Main St., Richford.

GEORGE RAYMOND LAURENDEAU
SWANTON, Vt. / OCALA, Fla. -- George "Ray" Laurendeau, 64, a native of Swanton, Vt. and more recently of Ocala, Fla., died Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004, at Legacy House in Ocala.
Born in Swanton on Oct. 4, 1940, he was the son of the late George and Ardelle (Lemoine) Laurendeau. He attended St. Anne's Academy and graduated from Swanton High School. On April 19, 1968, he married the former Jeneta "Joyce" LaFar, who predeceased him, Jan. 4, 1999. On Dec. 23, 2001, he married Marilyn Nichols Bumpus, who survives him.
Ray also attended the Essex Trade School and later worked as a Master Electrician for IBM, retiring after 20 years of service. He was a 10-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local Union No 300 and a longtime member of Seventy-Six Lodge 14 F.& A.M.
An avid Red Sox, Boston Bruins, and country music fan, Ray was also a member of Bobby Dragon's Bush North Race Team. In earlier years he was a pitcher for both the Swanton High School and American Legion baseball teams.
In addition to his wife Marilyn of Ocala, Fla., Ray leaves his stepchildren, June Sweeney of Swanton, Michelle Nason of Sterling, Ga., Tiffany Currier of St. Augustine, Fla., Angela Obert and Bethany Nason both of Skowhegan, Maine, James Dishaw of Tampa, Fla. and Allen Dishaw of St. Albans; his sister, Elaine Begnoche of Swanton; several step-grand and great-grandchildren; as well as several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Ray also leaves several very special friends, including Richard Thompson of Swanton and Bobby Dragon of Milton.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at 3 p.m. from the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton. The Reverend David Smith of Cross Connection Ministries will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday afternoon from 1 p.m. until the hour of the funeral. Members of Seventy-Six Lodge # 14 F. & A.M. will conduct a Ritualistic Service at 2 p.m.

SEDRICK N. ABELL
FRANKLIN - Sedrick N. Abell, age 84, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, at the Redstone Villa Nursing Home in St. Albans.
He was born May 9, 1920, in Swanton, the son of the late Rolla and Marguerite (Curtis) Abell.
He was a resident of Franklin since 1960 and was a former resident of Fairfield. He was a member of the Franklin United Church and was a self-employed truck driver and logger for over 50 years, retiring in 1983. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in Italy for one year. On Sept. 29, 2004, he received the Vermont Distinguished Service Medal for honorable service in Combat Theater and a medal for Honorable Service in the United States Military. He was a member of the American Legion Post 42 of Enosburg Falls and the V.F.W. Post 778 of Swanton. He enjoyed the outdoors and, most of all, he loved sugaring and going to hunting camp.
He is survived by one son, Rodney "Mickey, " and his wife, Marilyn Abell of Montgomery; two daughters and their husbands, Sally and Harvey Boudreau, and Carol and Don Richard, both of Franklin; 14 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; one half brother, Larry Girard and his wife Carol of Essex; one half sister, Elizabeth Read and her husband Charles of Swanton; a brother-in-law, Norman Bishop of St. Albans; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his wife Marion (Callan) Abell; and a daughter, Sandra Cousineau; a granddaughter, Sarah Jean Cousineau; two half brothers, Augustus "Greg" and James Girard; and a half sister, Phyllis Bishop.
Funeral services will be held Saturday morning at 10 at the Franklin United Church with Pastor Jason McConnell officiating. Interment will follow in the Sheldon Village Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held Friday evening from 6 to 8 at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.

RODNEY JAMES ROONEY
Rodney J. Rooney, 67, of Huntington, died on Wednesday, Nov. 17, 2004, surrounded by his family at the Vermont Respite House in Williston.
He was born in Jeffersonville, Vt. on Nov. 15, 1937, the son to Wilfred Joseph and Mary Mae (Mashia) Rooney.
Rod was a graduate of Cambridge High School Class of 1956. He was a former manager of Woodbury Lumber Co., and an agent and manager at New York Life for many years. He was a past President of the Morgan Horse Association and later followed his passion for horses as an owner and trainer of Standardbred Race Horses.
He is survived by his children Todd Rooney of Meadow Lands, Pa. and Tracy Knight (Gregory) of Huntington, and their mother Judy Rooney (Bob Rancourt) of North Hero; his wife Laurie Rooney of Florida; his five grandchildren, Joshua Rooney, Jason, Griffin, Colby, and Cooper Knight; two brothers, Wally Rooney (Darla) of South Burlington, and Larry Rooney (Betty) of Jeffersonville; two sisters, Audria Bryce (Maurice) of East Fairfield, and Maureen Rogers (Julian) of Newport. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew Michael Rooney.
He was predeceased by his parents, and an infant brother, Darwin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, Nov. 20, 2004, at 12 p.m. in St. John Vianney Roman Catholic Church, South Burlington. Interment will follow in Resurrection Park Cemetery.

MAURICE J. BRYCE
EAST FAIRFIELD -- Maurice J. Bryce, age 76, passed away Thursday morning, Nov. 18, 2004, at his home.
He was born April 15, 1928, in Fletcher, the son of the late Alene Bryce.
He was a life long resident of East Fairfield, where he was one of the founding members of the East Fairfield Fire Department. He was employed as an electrician and carpenter with his father-in-law, Joe Rooney and sons and also with Terri McQuin for many years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War and was a member of the American Legion Post 42 of Enosburg Falls and the V.F.W. Robert Glidden Post of St. Albans. Maurice enjoyed doing word searches, fishing, hunting and taking rides.
He is survived by his wife, Audria (Rooney) Bryce of East Fairfield; they were married Nov. 29, 1952, at St. Mary's Church in Cambridge. He is also survived by his children, Jeff Bryce and his wife Patti of Fairfield, Mary Hislop and her husband Rodney of Highgate Center, Carl Bryce and his partner Michael Delaney of Westford, Cara Parrott and her husband William of Milton, and Alton Bryce and his wife Anne of Bakersfield; five grandchildren, Sarah Bryce, Kyle Hislop, Alex Bryce, Kylie Bryce, and Ryan Bryce, and an expected grandchild in April; and one sister, Gyneth Smith of Bakersfield. Besides his mother he was predeceased by his step father, Harry LaMonda; and a sister, Kathleen Lumbra
Funeral services will be held Sunday afternoon at 2 at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls with Pastor Marshall True officiating. Interment will take place at a later date at the convenience of the family in St. Georges Cemetery in Bakersfield.
