ELEANOR E. COREY
FRANKLIN -- Eleanor E. Corey, age 74, passed away Friday morning, Aug. 27, 2004, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.
She was born Aug. 17, 1930, in Berkshire, the daughter of the late Theodore and Gladys (Herron) Machia.
Eleanor was raised in Richford where she worked at Atlas Plywood and was also a short order cook at several area restaurants including the Dairy Center in Enosburg. She loved the outdoors and liked to travel.
She is survived by a son and his wife, Daniel and DeAnn Corey of Richford; her companion, Conant Chamberlain of Franklin; two grandchildren, Mathew Corey and his wife Sindy of Florence Ariz., and Saralee Corey of Apache Junction, Ariz.; seven great-grandchildren, Amber, Monica, Ashley, Chia, Adian, Sean-Michael, and Makenna. She was predeceased by her husband Harold Corey; a son, H. David Corey; and two brothers, Theodore Machia Jr., and Winfred Machia.
In keeping with Eleanor's wishes she will be cremated and funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place in the family lot at the Richford Center Cemetery.

GERALD L. RYAN
ST. ALBANS -- Gerald L. Ryan died Wednesday, Aug. 25, 2004, at the Franklin County Rehab Center in St. Albans. He was born in St. Albans, June 5, 1926, the son of Esther (Richard) and Arthur "Shaver" Ryan.
He graduated from Holy Angels and Bellows Free Academy, St. Albans. He served in the U.S. Navy, with an honorable discharge in 1946. He worked as a custodian for many years at Windsor Hall Nursing Home in Connecticut, where he made many friends and entertained the residents, before he retired and moved back to St. Albans.
He is predeceased by his parents and his two brothers, Richard and Norman. He leaves three daughters, Terry Lee Allard and her husband, Peter, of Swanton, Pamela Przybylo and her husband, Joe, of Fonda, N.Y., and Shannon Rose Ryan of Swanton; his four grandchildren, Stephanie Allard Hurley and her husband, Brendan, of Milton, Christopher Allard and Jenn Raftery of Milton, Patrick Allard and Diane Lang of Williston, and Carolyn Przybylo of Fonda, N.Y.; his precious great-grandchildren, Corey, Danielle and Casey Hurley, Shelby and Colby Allard, and Bailey Allard; his sisters-in-law, Jane Ryan of Swanton, Connie Ryan of Milton; and several nieces and nephews.
He enjoyed many life-long friends and many acquaintances through the American Legion, AA, and the Harbor Club. He had six special Navy "Buddies" from the USN "Nets & Booms, " Tiburon, and their reunions in recent years were among his fondest memories.
He appreciated his thoughtful, attentive neighbors, and the wonderful care of Franklin County Home Health nurses, Dr. Christian Thomas and staff, and finally, the exceptional Franklin County Rehab staff.
According to his wishes, there will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 4, 2004, at 9:30 a.m. in Mt. Calvary Cemetery with the Reverend Maurice J. Roy of Holy Angels Parish officiating.

GLENNA C. JUCKETT
RICHFORD -- Glenna C. Juckett, age 73, passed away Thursday morning, Aug. 26, 2004, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.
She was born Feb. 8, 1931 in Enosburg Falls, the daughter of the late James and Maude (Dunham) Carr.
She was a resident of Richford most of her life and was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 12 of Richford. She was employed at Franklin County Home Health Agency as a home care provider for over 20 years. She was a very special lady and good mother and loved cooking for her family. She enjoyed walking around town and visiting with her friends and also enjoyed attending the Richford Methodist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Larry Carr of Richford, and David Juckett of Swanton; four daughters, Dawn Juckett, Laura Boylan and her husband Allan both of Richford, Linda Libbey and her husband Steven of Hanover, N.H., and Gail Juckett of Barre; 11 grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Howard Carr and his wife Ruth of Hyde Park, and Gordon Carr of Richford; and several nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband, Reginald Juckett; a grandson, Alton Pells; five brothers, Norman, Frank, Harold, Leon "Tom" and Lloyd Carr; and a sister, Clyda Carr.
Visiting hours will be held one hour prior to the funeral, which will be held Monday, Aug. 30, 2004, at 11 a.m. at the Spears Funeral Home, 140 Main St., Richford with Pastor Patrick Hoadley officiating. Interment will follow in the Berkshire Center Cemetery.

CAROLYN HASELTINE BROWN
SWANTON -- Carolyn Haseltine Brown, 81, a resident of 66 Spring St. in Swanton Village, died Tuesday, Aug. 24, 2004, in the Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in Burlington.
Born in Dexter, Maine on, July 26, 1923, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Ruth (Remick) Haseltine. She attended Dexter schools graduating from Dexter High School in 1940. Prior to her marriage she worked at Fay Scott (1940 - 1942) in Dexter, Maine. On July 26, 1942, she married Howard W. Brown, who survives her.
From 1973 until 1984, Carolyn and her husband, Howard, lived in the Alburg Community, and as an accomplished organist she assisted in many of the churches and funeral homes throughout Grand Isle and Franklin Counties. In 1984 they moved to Jefferson, Maine, returning to Vermont in 2003 where she was embraced by the First Baptist Church of St. Albans.
Over the years Carolyn had been very active with both the University of Vermont and the University of Maine Extension Services and she was also involved in the Barbershop Chorus in Gardiner, Maine. Among her many talents Carolyn loved to write and was responsible for a column in both The Islander, a weekly newspaper covering all of Grand Isle County in Vermont and The Church Mouse a Baptist Church Newspaper in Jefferson, Maine. She was a very welcoming women and her door was always open.
In addition to her husband Howard of Swanton, Carolyn leaves her children and their spouses, Ernest and Kate (Delaney) Brown of South Burlington, Pamela and William Palma of Milton, Lynn and Jay Speer of Swanton, Marilee and Paul Contois of Colchester and Kenneth and Gayle (Fitzgerald) Brown of Alburg; grandchildren, Thomas Brown of Pittsburgh, Pa., Sienna Brown of Atlanta, Ga., Analesa Palma Snyder and her husband Ronald of Orefield, Pa., Aneta Palma and husband Matt Cyr of Milton, Jordan Speer of Swanton, Hannah and Hayley Contois both of Colchester, and Phillip and Kristopher Brown both of Alburg; great-grandchildren, August and Jarek Cyr of Milton and Ronald and Makayla Snyder of Orefield, Pa.; as well as nieces, nephews and many many friends and extended family who will miss her greatly.
Besides her parents, Carolyn was predeceased by a brother, Kenneth Haseltine.
A special thank you to Pat Delaney, an ICU Nurse with Fletcher Allen Health Care for his patience and compassion with all of Carolyn's family.
At Carolyn's request there will be no calling hours. A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date.

EDITH ELEANOR MINER
ST. ALBANS -- Edith Eleanor Miner, 80, a life-long area resident passed away, Monday, Aug. 23, 2004, at the Haven Health Care Facility with her loving family at her side. She was born in Swanton, Vt. on Feb. 14, 1924, the daughter of the late Edward and Winifred (Lagrange) Underwood. On Dec. 30, 1950, in St. Albans, Edith married George E. Miner, who survives her.
Edith attended the Jackson School House in Swanton and the Swanton Elementary School. She worked as a cook at the Kingman Street Diner, for the Northwest Correctional Facility, and delivered papers for the St. Albans Messenger. She was one of the first of five women to work at the Fonda Container and the first woman crossing guard in the State of Vermont at the corner of Main Street and Lower Newton Street. She was a life member of the First Baptist Church in St. Albans. In 1992, Edith received the" Outstanding Woman" award in Franklin County. She was very active in several organizations including Past President of the Robert E. Glidden Post 758 Auxiliary and Past Department President in 1987 - 1988, Past President of Green Mountain Post 1, American Legion, Auxiliary, was on the Franklin County Heart Fund committee and in 1989 was instrumental in the installation of the new Veteran Memorial in Taylor Park. She also served on the Board of Directors of the Franklin County Senior Center.
Survivors include her husband of 53 years, George, of St. Albans; two sons, Clifton Britch and his wife, Emily, of Swanton and Patrick Miner and his wife, Karalene, of Barre; four daughters, Sheila Spaulding and her husband, David, of Highgate Springs, Darlene Lehmann and her husband, Skip, of Swanton, Gale Montgomery and her husband, Robert, of Sheldon and Kathleen Gingras and her husband, Michael, of Loudonville, N.Y.; a sister, Florence Gadouas of Swanton; 10 grandchildren, Dina Walker, Susanne Dunn, Julie West, Shannon Jette, Kevin Montgomery, Katie Montgomery, Cynthia Miner, Stephen Miner, Jason Gingras and Justin Gingras; four great-grandchildren, Chelsea West, Greg West, Morgan Smith and Marcus Smith; three sisters-in-law, Charlene Underwood, Doris Underwood and Winona Underwood; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents she was predeceased by her eight brothers, Edward, Philip, Carroll, Gordus, Chester, Raymond, Ralph and Richard; and by her three sisters, Ruth Sears, Annie Belle Griffin and Helen King.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at the First Baptist Church, Congress Street, St. Albans with Pastor William Simmons officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot in St. Albans Bay Cemetery. Edith's family will receive friends on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St., St. Albans.

ARMAND RENE MESSIER
HIGHGATE SPRINGS -- Armand Rene Messier, a life-long resident of Highgate Springs/Swanton, husband of Cheryl (Barney) Messier, passed onto the Lord at his home on Monday, Aug. 23, 2004. Armand was born June 30, 1926, to the late George and Antoinette (Milotte) Messier.
Armand attended Ste. Anne's Academy in Swanton and enlisted in the United States Army during his final year of school. He proudly served in the Central European Theater's 134th Infantry in Germany, France, and Holland. Following his military service he returned to Swanton to complete his studies and graduate from Ste. Anne's Academy in 1948.
For 39 years he lived on his homestead, Country Essence, where he worked endlessly and tirelessly on this labor of love. From this homestead Armand and his wife Cheryl operated Country Essence Bed and Breakfast for the last 10 years.
Following his retirement from IBM in 1990 after 25 years of service, Armand became a longtime and faithful funeral assistant with Kidder Memorial Home. In his post retirement years Armand also worked as the Director of Information for the Swanton Chamber of Commerce and most recently for the State of Vermont Department of Travel and Tourism as a greeter at the Georgia Welcome Center. Throughout his years with Kidder Memorial Home and with the information and welcome centers he took great pleasure in greeting the public while enthusiastically performing his duties.
Armand was a loving and dedicated husband, father, and grandfather, and role model. Armand was a man of compassion and conviction in everything that he did. For Armand, the smallest undertaking was completed beyond perfection. His meticulously manicured lawn and garden were his passion. He loved his home, Country Essence, and his home-grown vegetables and flowers. He spent many quiet winter hours reading about UFO's. During the holidays Armand was known for being an avid baker. We will surely miss his Tourtiere Pies, Cinnamon Rolls and traditional goodies. He enjoyed creating small inventions in his workshop and building his grandchildren's playground. Visits from his grandchildren brought him great joy. Their "papa" will be greatly missed.
Armand was a life-long communicant of the Church of the Nativity. He was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus Saint Edmund of Canterbury Assembly 7669 and he was an associate of the Daughters of the Holy Spirit.
In addition to his devoted wife, Cheryl, of 36 years, he leaves his loving children, Debora Perez and her husband Al of Rosebud, Texas, Armanda Bouchard and her husband Edward, of Franklin, Leslie Slavinsky and her husband, Joseph, of Collierville, Tenn., Armand B. Messier and his wife, Gianna, of Swanton; four grandchildren, Renee Yvonne and Paul Jacob Bouchard, Joseph Armand and Elizabeth Mary Slavinsky.
Armand also leaves one brother Charles Messier and his wife Cecile of Manchester, Conn.; his twin sister Armande (Fugie) Daniel, of Swanton; and sisters Madeline and her husband Norbert of Beverly Hills, Fla., Charlotte DeCampos of Manchester, Conn., and Constance Cramer of Dover, Del.; father-in-law George K. Barney; mother-in law Marion Barney; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law David and Darla Blondo, Vance and Margaret Barney, Randy Barney, and Marilyn Barney; and 54 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers Paul, Robert, Marcel, and Jean-Jacque Messier; his sister Yvette Livingston; and brother-in law Kermit Barney.
The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, Aug. 28, 2004, at 11 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 65 Canada Street, Swanton Village. Father Brian J. Cummings, SSE, director of the Office of Campus Ministry at St. Michael's College will be the celebrant and homilist. Interment with full military honors will follow in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Cemetery. PAULA DAWN JABLONSKI
BERKSHIRE -- Paula Dawn Jablonski, age 54, died peacefully in her sleep early Tuesday morning, Aug. 24, 2004, at the home of her aunt and uncle, Shirley and Richard Longe in Sheldon, after a courageous 12 year battle with cancer.
Paula was born Sept. 6, 1949, in Bakersfield, the daughter of Lila (Taylor) Patch and the late Merritt Patch.
In December of 1970 she married Albert J. Jablonski. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, gardening, fairs and lawn sales. In her earlier years she baby-sat, then worked at the Northland Hockey Stick Factory in Richford and finally at North Country Linen Service for the past six years.
She is survived by her husband, Albert J. Jablonski of Berkshire; her mother, Lila (Taylor) Patch of Enosburg Falls; two brothers, Stephen Patch and his wife Barbara of Bakersfield, and Randy Patch and his friend Deanna Clark of Littleton, N.H.; her aunts and uncle, Shirley and Richard Longe of Sheldon, and Shirley Taylor of Enosburg Falls; her sister-in-law, Cindy Patch of Highgate; three nieces, Tina Kelley, Wendy Nichols, and Jamie Patch; and one nephew, Mark Patch. She was predeceased by her father, Merritt Patch; maternal grandparents, Elmer and Rosie Taylor; paternal grandparents, Leon and Mable Patch; uncle, Elmer G. Taylor.
In keeping with Paula's wishes funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Interment will take place in the Maple Grove Cemetery in Bakersfield.

VINCENT O. CRELLER
ALBURG -- Vincent O. Creller, 88, a lifelong Alburg resident, died early Sunday morning, Aug. 22, 2004, in Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.
Born in Alburg Springs, Oct. 10, 1915, he was the son of the late Emery Benjamin and Una (Denison) Creller. He graduated from Swanton High School in the Class of 1932 and on Nov. 15, 1937, married the former Hazel LaBombard who predeceased him on Jan. 21, 1996.
Vincent was associated with the Rutland Railroad until 1961 and then with the Napierville Junction Railroad until his retirement in 1978 for a total of 39 railroad years. He was 50 year member of Columbus Lodge 11 F&A.M. in Alburg, a 40 year member of the United Transportation Union as well as a 29 year member of the American Association of Retired Persons. He will be remembered for his excellence in baseball especially during his years at Swanton High School.
Vincent leaves his three sons and their wives, Retired Colonel Bruce and Judy Creller of San Antonio, Texas, Dean and Michelle Creller of Cocoa, Fla. and Kevin and Bonnie Creller of Alburg; his daughter Venita McChesney and her special friend Harley Moulton of Champlain, N.Y.; 16 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one niece.
Besides his wife Hazel, Vincent was predeceased by a daughter, Vanessa Creller on Nov. 23, 1998, and a sister Doris Walsh.
A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, Aug. 26, 2004, at 11 a.m. from the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton. The Reverend Marcheta Townsend will officiate. Interment will follow in the Creller family lot in Riverside Cemetery.
Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday evening, Aug. 25, 2004, from 6 to 9 p.m. Members of Columbus Lodge 11 will conduct A Ritualistic Service at 7 p.m.

KIM D. HANLEY
JEFFERSONVILLE -- Kim David Hanley, age 61, passed away in the afternoon on Thursday, Aug., 19, 2004, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington. He was born in Burlington on Oct. 2, 1942, son of the late Colin "Dick" and Audrey (Tracy) Hanley.
Kim graduated from Cambridge High School, class of 1961. He married the former Joanne Cox on March 21, 1975, in Burlington. Kim was a lifelong resident of Jeffersonville and owned and operated the well known Hanley's Store. He appreciated the community support from his customers and coworkers, all of whom he considered his friends. Kim always looked forward to the precious time spent with family, especially while fishing and camping. He was a dedicated and loving husband, father grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. He will be dearly missed by family and many friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joanne (Cox) Hanley of Jeffersonville; two sons, Eric Hanley and Shawna Marsh of Jeffersonville, and Chad Hanley of Jeffersonville; two daughters, Brenda Forsey and husband Michael of Westford, and Deborah Morin and husband Ken of Johnson; five grandchildren, Brandi, Mikayla, Jesse, Kristen, Willow; three nephews, Kent, Kevin and Kirk; a niece, Terri; a sister-in-law, Charlene Hanley of Jeffersonville; and his faithful companion and best buddy, "Sadie." He was also predeceased by, his brother, Kern Hanley.
There will be no public visiting hours. A memorial service was held this morning, Aug. 23, 2004, at 10 a.m. in Hayes-Rich Funeral Home with Reverend Marcheta Townsend officiating. Inurnment followed in Jeffersonville Village Cemetery.
