ARTHUR F. PILON, SR.
FAIRFIELD -- Mr. Arthur F. Pilon, Sr., age 72, died Thursday morning, July 22, 2004, in the Franklin County Rehab Center. He was born in Fairfield, Jan. 6, 1932, son of the late Joseph P. and Alma J. (Messier) Pilon.
Arthur operated a dairy farm most of his working life and was employed at the Sheldon Pulp and Paper Mill for 10 years. He served in the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict, serving in Korea and Japan. He enjoyed gardening and was known as ³just a clean cut guy.²
Dec. 15, 1956, he married Diane Lewis. Besides his wife of over 47 years, Arthur is survived by his three children, Arthur Pilon, Jr. and his partner Christopher Leduc of Fairfield, Coleen Marie Pilon and Randy Swarm of St. Albans, and Michael F. Pilon of Fairfax; three grandchildren, Chelsea M., Ashley K., and Shelly A. Pilon all of St. Albans; brothers, sisters and their spouses, Edward Pilon of St. Albans, Cecile and James Minckler of Swanton, Yvonne and Clarence Smith of Washington, Kansas, Josephine and Phillippe Rocheleau of St. Albans Bay, Joseph Paul Jr., and Winifred Pilon of Swanton; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by four siblings, Alma Juaire, Emile Pilon, Henry Pilon and (in infancy) Arthur Pilon.
Diane and her family would like to express their everlasting gratitude to the staff of Northwestern Medical Center and the Franklin County Rehab Center and especially to all the outpouring help at their farm during this time of crisis.
At Arthur¹s request there will be no public funeral services. Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to send memorials to the American Cancer Society, P. 0. Box 1460, Williston, Vt. 05495-1460.

CHERYL ANNE BROWN
SWANTON -- Cheryl Anne Brown, 47, a resident of Brault's Mobile Home Park in Swanton Village, died suddenly Monday evening, July 19, 2004, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans City.
Born in Boston, Mass., Sept. 25, 1956, she was the daughter of the late Robert and Mary (McKenzie) Rushford. She attended schools in the Boston area and on June 2, 1990, married Dean M. Brown who survives her.
Prior to moving to Swanton Cheryl and her husband Dean lived several years in Rutland, Vt. where she was associated as a machine operator for the General Electric Corporation.
Cheryl will be remembered for her enjoyment of hiking and camping and for her beautiful needlework especially, crocheting and cross-stitching.
Besides her husband Dean of Swanton, Cheryl leaves two sons, Scott and Ronnie Dubie both of Springfield, Vt.; a sister, Sandra J. Thomas of South Windsor, Maine; and a brother Robert McEachern of Lynn, Mass.
She was predeceased by a brother, Everett Rushford, who died at the World Trade Center Towers in New York City on Sept. 11, 2000.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday evening, July 24, 2004, at 8 p.m. from the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton. The Reverend Lyle M. Miller, Sr., pastor of the Highgate United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday beginning at 6 p.m. and until the hour of the funeral.

GERALDINE F. NEWTON
JEFFERSONVILLE -- Geraldine Faye Newton, 74, passed away on Tuesday, July 20, 2004, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Montgomery on Nov. 8, 1929, daughter of the late Elmer and Bertha (Longley) Longe.
Geraldine enjoyed spending quiet times working on puzzles. Her greatest love was her family and her beloved grandchildren and great grandchildren who always came first in her life. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
She is survived by her husband, Clinton Newton of Jeffersonville; a son, Stephen Wells of Bridport; two step-sons, Norman Newton of Newport, and Charles Newton of Kentucky; a daughter, Linda Cary and husband Howard of Jeffersonville; two step-daughters, Simone Collins and husband Robert, Sr. of Lowell, and Denise Sledge and husband Dennis of Virginia; a brother, Richard Longe and wife Shirley of Enosburg; three sisters, Marjorie Cummings of St. Albans, Kathryn Dulude and husband Joe of Enosburg, and Barbara Kennison and friend Merrill Jeffords of Enosburg; 17 grandchildren including, Alan and Jennifer Cary, Wendy and John LaFreniere, Michael and Brandy Wells, Jon and Crystal Wells, Lucas Wells; 28 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews and many special friends.
She was also predeceased by three brothers, Leonard Longe, Clifton Longe, and Floyd Longe; two sisters, Bernice Ryea, and Hilda Duffy; and a step granddaughter, Erin Newton.
Visiting hours will be on Friday, July 23, 2004, from 10 a.m. until the hour of service in the Second Congregational Church in Jeffersonville. A memorial service will be held on Friday, July 23, 2004 at 11 a.m. in the Second Congregational Church, Jeffersonville with Reverend Peggy Tooker officiating. Inurnment will be private and at the convenience of the family in the family lot in Belvidere Cemetery.

MATTHEW RYAN HANCE
MILTON -- Matthew Ryan Hance, 20, formerly of Milton, died unexpectedly on Saturday, July 17, 2004, in Savannah, Ga., following an automobile accident. Matthew was born on Dec. 29, 1983, in Burlington, the son of Robert and Kathy (Tuthill) Hance.
He graduated from the Milton High School Class of 2002, where he excelled in basketball, football and baseball. He was voted a member of the 2001 Vermont Senior Classic Football Team. He was voted MVP in both basketball and football numerous times. Following graduation, Matt enlisted into the U.S. Army where he was an Advanced Cavalry Scout, and proudly served in Korea and Iraq.
Matthew loved spending time with his many friends - loved riding his motorcycle and driving his CRX. He will be missed by his dog Harley.
He is survived by his mother Kathy LaRocque and her husband Kevin; his father Robert Hance Sr. and his wife Rita, all of Milton; his brothers Christopher Hance of Milton, Robert Hance Jr. and his friend Wendy of Colchester, Ronald Masse Jr. of Norfolk, Va., Donald Masse of Evansville, Vt., Roger Masse of Milton, Vt.; his maternal grandmother Ruth Tuthill of Hyde Park; his paternal grandmother Doris Galarneau and her husband Earl of Keesville, N.Y.; and by several uncles, aunts, cousins and a niece. He was predeceased by his grandfathers Ernest Tuthill Sr. and Arthur Hance Jr.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, July 24, 2004, at 10 a.m. in the Cornerstone Community Church on Bombardier Road in Milton.

BRANDON ARCHIE "BUBBY" RAINVILLE
FRANKLIN -- Brandon Archie "Bubby" Rainville, age 18, passed away unexpectedly July 16, 2004, in Sheldon.
Brandon was born Feb. 18, 1986, in St. Albans, the son of Bonnie Domina and Mark Rainville.
Brandon was a life-long resident of Franklin. He enjoyed helping his grandparents on their farm in Sheldon and his uncle on his farm in Franklin. He enjoyed spending time with his friends especially Mike and Ryan. He also enjoyed sports, fishing, 4-wheelers, and especially deer hunting and took great pride in bringing home a deer every year.
He is survived by his mother, Bonnie Domina of Enosburg Falls; his father, Mark Rainville of Franklin; three brothers, Bradley, Blake and Beau Rainville all of Enosburg Falls; one sister, Brandi Domina of St. Albans; his paternal grandmother, Monique (Bouchard) Rainville of Franklin; his maternal grandparents, Archie and Rose Anne (Martin) Domina of Sheldon; a nephew, Dartanyon LaCroix; a niece, Morraisa Rose; and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his brother, Barry Rice on Feb. 2, 2003; his grandfather, Lucien Rainville on June 6, 2003; and his uncle, Alan Rainville on March 2, 2001.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday afternoon, July 21, 2004, at 2 at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls with Pastor Patrick Hoadley officiating. Interment will follow in the Montgomery Center Cemetery. Following the interment there will be a gathering held at the Stonebrook (Dairy Center) in Enosburg.
A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday from 12 noon until the hour of the funeral.

RYAN GREGORY FORTY
FRANKLIN -- The love of Gregg and Patty Desroches created the birth of their loving son on Dec. 1, 1986, in Burlington. Ryan was a wonderful 17-year-old young man who was killed in a tragic accident in Sheldon. Ryan's life long dream was to work on and run the family farm.
Besides his parents he is survived by his brothers, Jeremy Thayer Forty, Taylor Joseph Forty, and Patrick Jay Forty all living at the family farm. He is also survived by his paternal grandparents, Joann Forty-Kane and her husband Herman of Berkshire; his maternal grandparents, Anne and Albert Desroches of Franklin; many aunts and uncles, including, Stephanie Podgorski of Logan, Utah, Brad Forty of Georgia, Jennifer Dewing and her husband James of Franklin, Matt Forty and his fiancee Kim Legault of Franklin, Todd Forty of Berkshire, Monica Sweet and her husband Gilbert of Franklin, Madeline Connolly and her husband Fred of Pomfret, Conn., David Desroches of Enosburg, Dolly Parizo and her husband Tim of Grand Isle, Karen Desroches of Hancock, N.H., Ronald Desroches and his wife Dianne of St. Albans; and many cousins and close friends. He was predeceased by his paternal grandfather, Thayer Forty.
Funeral services will be private and held at the convenience of the family. Interment will also be private and held at the Forty Family Farm in Franklin. There will be no visiting hours.

PAUL JOSEPH MICHEL
RICHFORD -- Paul Joseph Michel, age 72, passed away Monday morning, July 19, 2004, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.
He was born Jan. 15, 1932, in Richford, the son of the late Tom and Sadie (Joseph) Michel.
Paul grew up in Richford and at the age of 17 he enlisted into the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War as a tank commander. In 1953 he was awarded an honorable discharge and enlisted in the Vermont National Guard. In 1954 he married Margaret Lyons and they had six children and resided in Vergennes where he worked for Simmons Precision Tools producing equipment for the Aerospace Program.
In the mid-1960s Paul entered the Auto Parts business and eventually opened up an Auto Sales Business in the 1970s. Paul was known as a hard worker and a good provider. He was known to make people laugh with his kind spirit. His famous statement was "You want to buy a bus, yo cus, or simply you want to buy a car." Paul was an independent business man who served as police commissioner in Richford and was a Richford Village Trustee. Paul was a lifetime ember of the Richford American Legion Post 12 where he held many positions including Service Officer and Commander. He was also a member of the V.F.W. Robert Glidden Post of St. Albans.
Paul enjoyed life to the fullest and liked to travel frequently. He took many trips with his friends and his family members. He was an early riser who looked forward to his morning coffee at Brenda's Kitchen and enjoyed watching the Atlanta Braves. He was an optimist and believed that if you're afraid of dying then you're not living.
He is survived by his children, Ann Pecor of St. Albans, Paul Michel and his friend Sheila Wilson of Enosburg Falls, Rose Wolff and her husband John of Ocala, Fla., Tom Michel and his friend Jeany Begnoche of Richford, Tim Michel and Dennis Michel both of St. Albans; seven grandchildren, four great-grandchildren; his former wife and the mother to his children, Margaret Lyons Michel of St. Albans; a brother and his wife, Anthony and Sabre Michel of Rutland; a sister and her husband, Teresa and Arthur Larivee of Franklin; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday morning at 11 at All Saints Catholic Church in Richford. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery in Richford.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home, 140 Main St., Richford.

ALISON MORSE DOMBROSKI
Alison Morse Dombroski, 49, died unexpectedly Monday afternoon, July 12, 2004, on a golf course in Bakersfield where she was struck by lightning.
She was born in Fall River, Mass. Nov. 6, 1954, the daughter of Allison “Ash” Morse and Eleanor (Baker) Morse.
Alison, aka “Snookie, ” attended high school in Swansea, Mass. and graduated from Framingham College in 1976. On Oct. 5, 1976, she married Edward J. Dombroski. Alison lived for most of her married life in Jericho, Vt. and was active in her church and the community, always willing to lend a hand when one was needed. She was a member of the United Church of Underhill. She sincerely loved her family and life, and lived it to the fullest. She loved to travel and was an avid sports enthusiast, tennis and golf her personal favorites, but also supported her children, Amy and Dan in their athletic endeavors and accomplishments. Her love of animals was known to all and her indulgence in beautiful clothes and shoes was a reputation she was proud to maintain.
Alison was employed for a time with IBM in Essex and later, while her family was still young and growing, worked part-time as a greeting card merchandiser serving many businesses in Chittenden County and surrounding areas. She became a welcome and familiar face to many business owners. The past few years, operating from a computer at home in Enosburg, Alison became a medical transcriptionist for a national medical records management firm.
She is survived by her dear husband and good friend, Edward Dombroski of Jericho; her children, Daniel of Boulder, Colo. and Amy of Jericho; her beloved companion and best friend of the past seven years, S.E. “Pepper” Sweeney of Enosburg Falls; her mother, Eleanor Morse of Morehead City, N.C.; her sister Deborah Coulter and her family, also of Morehead City, N.C.; her brother, Peter Morse and his family of Warren, N.J.; several nieces and nephews, and good friends who were as dear to her as she was to them, and of course, her tennis and golfing buddies. She was pre-deceased by her father, Allison Morse.
Visiting hours will be at the Ready Funeral Home Mountain View Chapel, 68 Pinecrest Drive in Essex, today (Thursday), July 15 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 16, at the United Church of Underhill.
Contributions may be made in lieu of flowers, in the honor of her father to the American Cancer Society, 121 Connor Way, Suite 240, Williston, Vt. 05495-1460.
