DOROTHY EVA LADD
ST. ALBANS TOWN -- Mrs. Dorothy Eva Ladd, age 87, died Sunday, June 6, 2004, at the Franklin County Rehab Center. She was born in Essex on March 1, 1917, daughter of the late Homer and Mildred (Story) Wilder.
She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. June 3, 1949, she married Malcolm Fordyce Ladd. Mr. Ladd died just short of their 50th wedding anniversary, on April 14, 1999.
Mrs. Ladd is survived by two children, Raye and her husband Wendell Mudgett of Sheldon, Lorin and his wife Robbin Ladd of St. Albans Town; six grandchildren, Carla Mudgett, Chad Mudgett, Charles Mudgett, Hanson Ladd, Bethany Ladd, Daniel Ladd; brother-in-law Merrill and his wife Anna Mae Ladd all of St. Albans Town; and nephew Joel Ladd. Besides her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Morton Ladd, and a nephew, Jeff Ladd.
Funeral services will be held in the Church of the Nazarene, 127 Upper Welden Street, St. Albans, Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at 10 a.m. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St. from 7 to 9 p.m. today (Tuesday). Interment will be in the Ladd family lot in St. Albans Point Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Lyceum Fund for the Franklin County Rehab Center, 110 Fairfax Rd., St. Albans, Vt. 05478.

CLAIRE B. SHAPPY
CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. / ST. ALBANS, Vt. -- Claire B. Shappy, 70, of Charlottesville, Va., died on Monday, June 7, 2004, in a local hospital.
Born Aug. 30, 1933, in Racine, Quebec, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Bedard and Emma AuClair Bedard. She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Louis Patenaude and Aimee Patenaude.
Mrs. Shappy was a member of Spring Hill Baptist Church, Ruckersville, a former member of the First Baptist Church, St. Albans, and was active in the Charlottesville Senior Citizens bowling group.
Claire was devoted wife who dearly loved her family and was always supportive of her grandchildren and their activities by her faithful presence which will be greatly missed.
Surviving are her husband, Edmund A. Shappy of Charlottesville; a daughter, Linda White, her husband, James and their children, Jessie, Mickey, and Kevin; a son, Steven Shappy, and his significant other, Carol Preuss, his children, Jake and Gregg, and their mother, Jeri Shappy; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 12, 2004, in the First Baptist Church, 29 Congress Street, St. Albans with the Reverend John Burbank, former pastor officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the church fellowship hall. Interment of the cremains will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery, St. Albans.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, June 16, 2004, at the Spring Hill Baptist Church, 2620 Frays Mill Road, Ruckersville with the Reverend Dan Carlton officiating

GARY STEPHENSON PHILLIPS
MONTGOMERY CENTER -- An outdoor celebration of Gary's life will be held Saturday, June 12, 2004, at 2 p.m. at his home on 121 North Main St. in Montgomery Center. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family in the family lot at the Sheldon Village Cemetery.

ELIZABETH "BETTY" LACOSTE
BONDVILLE, Vt. -- Elizabeth "Betty" Lacoste, 69, died May 28, 2004, following a long illness at the Southwestern Medical Center in Bennington, Vt.
She was born Nov. 25, 1934, in St. Albans, the daughter of Howard and Stella (Deso) Burt.
Betty is survived by her husband, Jean Lacoste of Bondville; two children, James Lacoste and Marlene Baird, both of Manchester, Vt. Other survivors include three sisters, Mary Guyette, Marjorie Morgan and Shirley Giroux, all of St. Albans; two brothers, Robert Burt of Norwich, Conn. and Donald of St. Albans; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nephews and nieces. She was predeceased by her father, Howard Burt; and a stepdaughter, Linda Edwards.
There are no calling hours. A memorial service will be held Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at 10 a.m. at St. Paul's Catholic Church in Manchester, Vt. A burial mass will be held June 16, 2004, at 11 a.m. at the Church of Nativity in Swanton.
The Brewster Funeral Home of Manchester is in charge of arrangements.
PAMELA JEAN PUTNAM
ENOSBURG/ST. ALBANS -- Pamela Jean Putnam, 33, a lifelong resident of this area, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, June 5, 2004. She was born in St. Albans, Sept. 19, 1970, the daughter of Clifford C. and Esther R. (Austin) Putnam.
"P.J." was a strong activist for disability rights. She was an accomplished public speaker and possessed a special gift for sharing her very personal stories throughout New England. She worked as a trainer for the Invisible Victims of Crime workshops. She was a spokesperson for the Vermont Peer Support Network. Prior to her death, Pam was an officer for the Green Mountain Self Advocates and a facilitator for the Next Step Peer Support Network. Her spirited laugh, sparkling smile and special hugs will be forever missed by her family and friends.
Pam enjoyed bowling, swimming and participating in Special Olympic events where she won many medals. She also attended the Elk's Silver Towers Camp.
Pam is survived by her parents, Clifford and Esther, both of St. Albans; two brothers, Steven Putnam and his significant other, Yvonne Green, and Steven's daughters, Jessica, Abby and Taylor, and Dwayne and his wife, Anne Putnam and their daughter, Evelyn all of St. Albans; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She will be missed by Shirley Lavender and her other dear friends.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the Heald Funeral Chapel with Pastor Judy Kennedy of the First Congregational Church officiating. Interment will be in Sheldon Village Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, the family will appreciate contributions to a fund established to purchase a monument for Pam, c/o Steven Putnam, 18 Cedar Street, St. Albans, Vt. 05478. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until the time of the funeral.

GLENFORD E. WETHERBY
RICHFORD -- Glenford E. Wetherby, age 67, passed away Friday, June 4, 2004, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in Burlington.
He was born May 10, 1937, in Montgomery, the son of the late George and Bessie (Longe) Wetherby
He was a life long resident of Richford and was employed at the Sweat - Comings Furniture Co. for many years retiring when they stopped production in the 1990s. He was a U.S Army veteran during the Vietnam Era serving in Germany.
He is survived by two brothers, Gardner Wetherby, and John Wetherby and his wife Dale all of Richford; two sisters, Anita Friot, and Gretchen Kittell and her husband Blaine all of Berkshire; two sisters-in-law, Brenda Wetherby, and Valerie Longe both of Richford; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by two brothers, Jack Wetherby, and Clifton "Kippy" Wetherby.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, June 9, 2004, at 11 a.m. at the Spears Funeral Home, 140 Main St., Richford, with Pastor Patrick Hoadley officiating. Interment will follow in the West Hill Cemetery in Montgomery.
A time of visitation will be held at the funeral home Wednesday from 10 a.m. until the hour of the funeral.

KRISTIAN A. ANZELMO
MARLBOROUGH, Mass. -- Kristian A. Anzelmo, 31, of Marlborough, Mass., died Wednesday, June 2, 2004, at Red Stone Villa Nursing Home in St. Albans, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident in 1992.
He leaves his mother, Marsha Schultz of Fairfax, Vt.; his father, Anthony Anzelmo and his wife Patricia of Stowe; his brother, Keir L. Anzelmo of Marlborough; and his sister, Jenna T. Anzelmo of Fairfax, Vt.; his paternal grandmother Marie (Perish) Anzelmo of Youngstown, Ohio; a nephew, Noah Anzelmo of Fairfax.
He was born in Ravenna, Ohio and was a graduate of Assabet Valley Vocational High School and also attended the Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Fla.
He was a professional Motorcross Racer for several years.
Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2004, in Evergreen Cemetery, Wilson Street, Marlborough.
Calling hours at the John P. Rowe Funeral Home Inc., 57 Main St., Marlborough, are Monday from 5 until 8 p.m.

BERNARD A. GADOUAS
SHELDON -- Bernard A. Gadouas, 68, a resident of 868 Vermont Route 105 in Sheldon, died early Sunday morning, May 30, 2004, at Haven Health Care Center in St. Albans Town.
Born in St. Albans, he was a son of the late Edmond and Florence (Richard) Gadouas. He attended schools in St. Albans and graduated in the commercial class from Holy Angels High School. On Feb. 15, 1958, he married the former Claudette Bedard, who survives him.
Prior to his retirement, Bernard had been associated for 27 years in equipment maintenance with the former Union Carbide Corporation of St. Albans. Following retirement, he worked for a time at both Wesco and Kaytec Companies. He faithfully served his country in the United States Army, was a member of the Sheldon Post of the American Legion and was a longtime parishioner of St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church in Sheldon Springs.
In addition to his wife Claudette of Sheldon, Bernard leaves: two sons, Jeff Gadouas and his fiancee, Lisa Little, of Sheldon, and Rick Gadouas of Highgate; three daughters, Cynthia Larned of Swanton, Brenda McCoy and her husband, David, of Georgia and Francine Perkins and her husband, Jay, of Williston; seven grandchildren, Josh and Rachelle Gadouas, Jennifer and Phylica Gadouas, Jessica and Danielle Gallant and Katie McCoy, as well as three step-grandchildren, Deirdre Perkins, Bryan Perkins and Erick Little. He also is survived by a sister, Norma Gadouas of St. Albans; brothers-in-law, Paul Bedard and his wife Lorraine of St. Albans, Andre Bedard and his wife Theresa of Greenfield Park, Quebec, Jean Guy Bedard and his wife Winnie of Schaghticoke, N.Y.; sister-in-law, Denise Richard of Sheldon; sisters-in-law, Louise Boisvert and her husband, Norman, of Jericho, Dianne Bedard of Milton, Pierre Bedard and his wife Rejane of St. Constant, Quebec, Frances Bessette and her husband, Donald, of Highgate and brother-in-law, Rene Bedard and his wife, Helene, of Watervliet, N.Y.; an uncle Ernest Gadouas of St. Albans and several nieces and nephews. He also leaves his faithful companions, his dog Sweetie and his cat Kittie.
Bernard was predeceased by two brothers-in-law, William L. Richard and Robert Bedard.
The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 5, 2004, at 11 a.m. from St. Anthony Roman Catholic Church in Sheldon Springs. The pastor, Father Bernard J. Bechard, SSE will be the celebrant and homilist. Interment will follow in the Gadouas family lot in Saint Anthony Cemetery. There will be no public calling hours.

HAROLD A. COMINGS
ST. ALBANS -- Mr. Harold A. Comings, age 90, died Wednesday morning, June 2, 2004, in the Northwestern Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born in Richford, Nov. 16, 1913, son of the late William and Lillian (Combs) Comings.
He was employed briefly at the Sheldon Pulp and Paper Mill and later became a dairy farm employee of the Brigham Farms. For the 30 years prior to retirement he was an employee of the Town of St. Albans.
Sept. 4, 1937 he married Marjorie Longe. They had one daughter, Shirley, who married James Thibault. Shirley died Sept. 17, 1993.
Besides his wife, Marjorie, of over 66 years, Harold is survived by his son-in-law, James Thibault; two grandchildren, Kevin and Kathryn Thibault; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and daughter he was predeceased by his sisters, Mildred Bonnett and Hildred Donna; and brothers Carmi Comings, Ralph Comings and Richard Comings.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 11 a.m. in Holy Angels Church. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., St. Albans from 9:30 until the Mass time Saturday morning. Interment will be in the Comings family lot in Holy Cross Cemetery.
