ANNA K. FLEURY
ISLE LA MOTTE -- Anna K. Fleury, 67, a longtime resident of the Isle La Motte community and her husband George D. Fleury died tragically early Sunday morning, June 27, 2004, in their Main Street home.
Born in Altoona, Penn., Oct. 3, 1936, Anna was the daughter of the late James and Josephine (Merritt) Nelson. She attended schools Pennsylvania and graduated high school in Germantown, N.Y. In 1956 she was married to George D. Fleury
In earlier years she operated the Isle La Motte Vineyard Store and in 1976 she and George built Fleury's Country Store, which Anna and her daughter Bernadette operated until 1985. She will be remembered as a talented artist and also for her great ability in making crafts of all kinds. She especially loved her two Irish Setters, Molly and Murphy who also perished with her in Sunday's fire. She faithfully served her country in the United States Air Force. On March 24, 1991, Anna successfully underwent a liver transplant operation and was always very proud that it lengthened her life an additional 13 years.
She leaves her daughter, Bernadette Fleury and her companion Jim Lee and two sons, Raymond Fleury and Richard Fleury and his fiancee Beth Dobson all of Isle La Motte; five grandchildren, Michael, Zane and John Savage and Kelly and Neil Fleury and their mother Debbie and one brother, Richard E. Nelson of Alburg. She also leaves her very dear friends, Polly and Howard Schwenker of Isle La Motte; as well as several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by a brother, Melvin McConnell.
The Liturgy of Christian Burial for both Anna and George will take place Friday, July 2, 2004, at 2 p.m. from the chapel at St. Anne's Shrine, West Shore Road, Isle La Motte. Father Brian J. Cummings, SSE will be the celebrant and homilist. Interment will follow in the Fleury family lot in St. Joseph's Cemetery.

GAIL M. (COLLINS) LAROSE
ST. ALBANS -- Gail Martha (Collins) Larose, 49, passed away unexpectedly at her home early Sunday morning, June 27, 2004. She was born in St. Albans on May 17, 1955, daughter of Owen "Buzz" and Alice (Barkyoumb) Collins.
Gail graduated from BFA-Fairfax, Class of 1973. She married Gary Larose on Dec. 1, 1973, in St. Luke Church, Fairfax. She would take on any project and always give it her all. Gail enjoyed sewing, knitting and crocheting for her children and grandchildren. She was a loving and caring wife, mother, grandmother and sister. Gail will be dearly missed by her family and many friends.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Larose of St. Albans; two sons, Christopher Larose and wife Darlene of St. Albans, and Marc Larose and Brandi Lumbra of St. Albans; a daughter, Michelle Larose and Michael Walters of Farwell, MI; her parents, Owen "Buzz" and Alice Collins of Fairfax; three brothers, Gary Collins and Phyllis Ruhl of Westford, Dennis Collins and wife Caroline of Westford, and Douglas Collins and wife Penny of Fairfax; two sisters, Barbara Soutiere and husband Danny of Fairfax, and Mary Rushford of Fairfax; her paternal grandmother, Imogene Collins; three grandchildren, Jacob Larose, Christian Larose, and Kianna Larose; two step grandchildren, Ashley Walters, and Amber Walters; her father and mother-in-law, Norbert and Ruth Larose of Sheldon; two sisters-in-law, Cindy Dudley and husband Arnold of Enosburg, and Betsy Larose of West Enosburg; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visiting hours will be held today, June 30, 2004, from 5 - 8 p.m. in Hayes-Rich Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 1, 2004, at 11 a.m. in St. Luke Church, Fairfax with Reverend Lawrence Ridgely officiating. Inurnment will be private and at the convenience of the family in the family lot in St. Luke Cemetery.

KENNETH W. GOODENOUGH
ST. ALBANS -- Mr. Kenneth W. Goodenough, age 81, died Tuesday morning, June 29, 2004, at his home following an extended illness, with his loving family at his bedside. He was born in Birdsboro, Pa., Nov. 3, 1922, son of the late Charles and Nancy (Hanson) Goodenough.
He served in the Army-Air Force during World War II, as a Tail Gunner out of the Polebrook, England Air Base. He also served in Germany and Central Europe. Upon returning to the U.S. he was employed for the Central Vermont Railway for 42 years. There he was a diesel mechanic and became the Yard Foreman. Ken also served in the Civilian Conservation Camp. He was a communicant of Holy Angels Church and a life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 758. He was a member of the American Legion, Post 1, the St. Albans Bay Association, and The New England Fiddlers Association.
Ken enjoyed his family, his pets, fishing, hunting, Lake Champlain, gardening and all types of music. He played many musical instruments but was especially fond of the violin. Ken volunteered his time to entertain the residents of nursing homes, with his musical talents, mostly old time fiddlers music.
He was married to Rita Norcross, who died June 30, 1985. May 23, 1987, he married Jeannine Stanislaus. Ken is survived by his wife Jeannine; his five children and their spouses, Debra and Robert Allsop of Fairfax, Judy and Douglas Edwards of North Fairfax, Joyce and Harry Swoyer of Highgate Springs, Brenda and Ronald Boucher of Swanton and Bruce and Janet Norcross of Franklin; six grandchildren, Douglas Edwards Jr., Erica Edwards, Paul Norcross, Valerie Norcross, Robert Swoyer, Christina and her husband Lexi Chase; a great-granddaughter, Olivia Chase; his brothers, Charles Goodenough of Newport, Glayde and his wife Muriel Goodenough of Beltsville, Md., Clifton Goodenough of Waukegan, Ill.; a sister, Rita and her husband Ned Chaffee of Manchester, N.H.; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents and his first wife, Rita, he was predeceased by a grandson, Timothy Swoyer; a sister, Vesta Goodenough; and a brother, Wells Goodenough.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Church. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., St. Albans, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday. Interment will be in the Norcross/Goodenough family lot in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

MARY JANE "MOLLY" DEMERS
PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -- Mary Jane "Molly" Demers, 72, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away at her residence, Tuesday, June 29, 2004. She was born Oct. 23, 1931, in Burlington, Vt.
Mrs. Demers had been a switchboard operator for A.T.&T. in St. Albans, Vt. prior to relocating to Port Charlotte in 1975. She worked for Bon Secour St. Joseph Hospital as switchboard operator and in the admitting department. More recently she had been a receptionist for the Punta Gorda, Port Charlotte, North Port Association of Realtors retiring in 1994. She was a member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church. Mrs. Demers was preceded in death by her husband, Armand G. Demers in May 2004, and her brother, James O'Sullivan.
Survivors include her daughter, Anne (Randall) Horner of North Port, Fla.; three sons, Glen (Marie) Demers of Ft. Myers, Fla., Marc (Tammie) Demers of Glendale, Ariz., and Ross (Karen) Demers of Port Charlotte, Fla.; two sisters, Patty (Tom) Walsh of St. Albans, and Alice (Mitchell) Sturgeon of Georgia, Vt.; a brother, David (Louise) Chase of Swanton; and six grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be offered at 9 a.m. Monday, July 5, 2004, at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church, 1441 Spear St., Port Charlotte, Fla. Memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Southwest Florida, 5955 Rand Blvd., Sarasota, Fla. 34238.

GREGORY ELLIOTT FONDAK
MONTGOMERY CENTER -- Gregory Elliott Fondak, age 57, passed away unexpectedly Friday, June 25, 2004, in Calgary, Alberta.
He was born in Jersey City, N.J. on March 15, 1947, the son of the late Frederick Elliott and Dorothy B. (Koladije) Fondak.
Greg was a resident of Montgomery Center for the past five years and was a former resident of Turnersville, N.J. He was employed as a financial analyst for Conrail for 21 years retiring in 1999. He was a U. S. Army veteran during the Vietnam War. Greg enjoyed golfing, cooking, gardening and traveling.
The most important aspect in Greg's life was his family. He is survived by his wife, Mary Jane (Kilbury) Fondak of Montgomery Center; his son, Bradley Elliott Fondak of Ranson, W.Va.; his daughter, Allison McCullough and her husband Thomas of Mantua, N.J.; his brother, Dr. Jeffrey T. Fondak and his wife Dorothy E. (Wilcox) Fondak of Great Bend, N.Y.; and his nephews, Ted and Andy Fondak.
A memorial service will be held Friday, July 2, 2004, at 10 a.m. at Pratt Hall in Montgomery Village. There will be no visiting hours. Interment will be private and held at the convenience of the family.

JANE C. CAMERON
ENOSBURG FALLS -- Jane C. Cameron, age 86, died peacefully at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington, Sunday, June 27, 2004, surrounded by family and friends.
She was born Oct. 3, 1917, in Richford, the daughter of the late Armand and Emma (Comeau) Coderre.
She was a 1935 graduate of Richford High School and married Kenneth A. Cameron Aug. 14, 1939, he predeceased her Feb. 22, 1994. They lived in Bristol until 1954 when they moved to Enosburg Falls. Together Jane and Ken operated several area businesses for more than 30 years. Jane was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and was the choir director for 31 years and was a member of the Ladies of St. Anne Society for 31 years. Jane enjoyed sharing her cooking skills with everyone and playing cards, especially 500, and most of all loved her family and friends.
She is survived by her children, Linda Depatie and her husband Stephen of Enosburg Falls, Raymond Ferland and his wife Sandra of Enosburg Falls, Stephen Cameron and his wife Lynda of Delmar, N.Y., Peter Cameron of Essex; James Cameron and his wife Margi of South Burlington, and Susan Cameron Stowe of Enosburg Falls. Also a very special daughter-in-law, Martha (Soule) Cameron and her friend Bob Granger of Belvidere. She was blessed with 12 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; two sisters, Theresa Trayhan of Hoosick Falls, N.Y., and Georgette Langevin of Swanton. Jane will be missed by her extended family at Riverview Apts. as well as her guardian angel and many life long friends. Besides her husband Jane was predeceased by her son, David K. Cameron in 1973.
Jane's family would also like to thank the staff at Franklin County Home Health Agency who assisted Jane. Also, the staff at Fletcher Allen Health Care, as well as Dorothy Malone-Rising.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 1, 2004, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Enosburg Falls with Reverends Benedict Kiely and Paul St. James celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held Wednesday from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.

GEORGE E. BUSHEY
ST. ALBANS -- Mr. George E. Bushey, age 90, died Saturday afternoon, June 26, 2004, in the Redstone Villa Nursing Home, where he had resided about a month. He was born in St. Albans Feb. 21, 1914, son of the late Henry and Matilda (Supernault) Bushey.
George enlisted in the U. S. Army, serving during World War II, in African, European and Mid East Theaters. He was in action in battles in Tunisia, Rome, Arno, Rhineland and Central Europe, prior to discharge in September of 1945. George became an insurance agent for Metropolitan Life Insurance Company and in 1963 changed occupations to become a letter carrier for the United States Postal Service, a position he held until retirement July 18, 1980. He was a member of the American Legion, Green Mountain Post 1 and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Robert E. Glidden Post 758 and lastly a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees.
He married Thelma Cleveland Sept. 20, 1947. George and Thelma enjoyed extensive traveling in their retirement years. Thelma died May 28, 2003.
He is survived by his son Gary and his wife Judy Bushey of Fairfax; seven grandchildren, Heather Bushey and her friend Tony Lehoullier, Keith Bushey and his fiancee Tina Garrett, Penny and Roger Laroche, Melissa and Kevin Trombley, Lisa and Kevin Depatie, Reginald Ladue III, and Lawrence Lovely III; and many nieces and nephews. Besides his wife and parents he was predeceased by his daughter-in-law Leigh Bushey on March 18, 1990, and by a brother Albert Bushey.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 4 p.m. in the Brady & Levesque Chapel. Friends may call at the funeral home, 86 South Main St., from 3 p.m. until the services on Tuesday. Interment will be in the Bushey family lot in Holy Cross Cemetery.

MELISSA L. LOWELL
ST. ALBANS -- Melissa L. Lowell, age 28, wife of Jonathan Lowell, died Saturday, June 26, 2004, following a courageous battle with Multiple Sclerosis and Epilepsy in the Fletcher Allen Health Care. She was born in St. Albans April 9, 1976, daughter of David and Maureen (Demar) Chagnon.
Melissa graduated from Bellows Free Academy in 1994 and married Jonathan Dec. 6, 1997. She was very involved with the Multiple Sclerosis Society, the Epilepsy Association and the Autism Society of Vermont.
Melissa is survived by he husband, Jonathan, her son David Lowell of St. Albans; her parents David and Maureen Chagnon of Milton; a brother Christopher Chagnon and his friend Denae Horl of South Burlington; maternal grandmother Shirley Demar of Franklin; paternal grandmother Mary Chagnon of Richford; maternal great-grandmother Mary Doe of Swanton; mother-in-law Linette and her husband Russell Kruse of St. Albans Bay; brother-in-law Benjamin Lowell and sister-in-law Nicole Lowell both of Swanton; grandmothers-in-law Susan Lowell, Dora Kenzie, and Elaine Kruse; very special nieces Abigail and Haleigh Chagnon both in St. Albans; a special friend Warren Burbo of South Burlington; many aunts, uncles and cousins. She was predeceased by her paternal grandfather James Chagnon; maternal grandfather Louis Demar; father-in-law Edward Lowell; great aunt and uncle Lorraine and Leon Wheeler.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. in the Brady & Levesque Chapel. Friends may call at the funeral home, 86 South Main St. from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

ALMA MARTHA THIBAULT
ST. ALBANS -- Mrs. Alma Martha Thibault, 87, a longtime resident of this area, passed away on Saturday, June 26, 2004, at Our Lady of the Meadows Nursing Home in Richford following a brief illness. She was born in South Wheelock, Vt. on Aug. 4, 1916, the daughter of the late Harley J. and Eula (Bogia) Shepard. She was the widow of Harold W. (Hector) Thibault who died on May 6, 1969.
Alma was a hairdresser employed by Agnes Kelley's Beauty Shop and Julia Elias' Beauty Shop for many years. She was also a former member of Robert E. Glidden Post 758, Veterans of Foreign Wars and after retirement was a volunteer at Martha's Kitchen.
Besides her parents and husband, Hector, she was predeceased by a brother, Valentine Shepard and his wife Fern.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church. The Reverend Leonidas B. Laroche will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in the Thibault family lot at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
