CYNTHIA R. HART
SARASOTA, Fla. -- Cynthia R. Hart, 55 formerly of Hanover, N.H., died suddenly on Tuesday, April 27 at her home in Sarasota, Fla. She was born in Buffalo, N.Y. on Sept. 29, 1948, the daughter of William A. and Nancy (Schultz) Hart, Jr.
In her 22 years with Dartmouth Dining Services, Cynthia was instrumental in transforming the Hopkins Center "Snack Bar" into the Courtyard Cafe, which was one of the first high quality a la carte dining operations in the College food service business. During the summer of 1984 as part of the Hopkins Center Hood Museum of Art renovation, Cynthia planned and designed the layout, equipment, and revised menu for the new Courtyard Cafe. Soon after it's opening in September of 1984, the Courtyard Cafe became known as "the" place to dine and socialize at the college. Her extraordinary business acumen kept the Courtyard Cafe's popularity and efficiency growing throughout the 80's and 90's with a constantly evolving cutting edge menu and efficient, friendly customer service.
Cynthia was also a firm practitioner of employee development and advancement. She utilized the myriad programs that Dartmouth Human Resources offered and lead a highly motivated team of full time and student employees.
She had an insatiable love of the sun and water and enjoyed water-skiing, windsurfing, snorkeling and sailing. Horseback riding was also a passion. Her creative skills were applied to candle making, painting and collage and gardening.
Cynthia was loved and adored by those who survived her, including daughter Gabrielle Senza and grandson Matteo Baratta-Senza of Great Barrington, Mass.; two step-sons Anthony Shaw and his wife Annette of Bradford, Vt. and Scott Shaw and his wife Regan of White River Junction, Vt.; four step-grandchildren, Robert, Brianna, Cayden and Griffin; her mother, Mrs. Wm A. Hart, formerly of Hanover, N.H., now residing in Burlington, Vt.; two sisters, Lori Wright and her partner Genevieve Provost, of Milton and Julie Quiring and her husband Eddie of Chico, Calif.; four nephews Patrick and Michael Wright of Milton, Vt. and Joshua and Jonathon Howell of Fresno, Calif.; many colleagues, friends and cousins, esp. Michael Hart Davis of Baltimore, Md.

RICHARD C. CHAMPAGNE
SWANTON, Vt. / WAYCROSS, Ga. -- Mr. Richard C. Champagne, 93, a longtime resident of First Street in Swanton Village, died early Sunday morning, May 2, 2004, in the Waycross Health and Rehabilitation Center in Waycross, Ga.
Dick will always be remember for his special way of loving and taking care of his family. At age 14 he began working at Fonda Lime works and worked there until the mid forties. He also worked at the Sheldon Pulp Mill for a short time until he was hired at Central Vermont Railroad retiring from there in 1983.
He cared for his ill wife of 57 years until with much sadness he had to place her in a Nursing Home several months before her death. Dick visited her almost daily with the help of family and friends with transportation. After her death he stayed in their mobile home on First Street caring for his lovely flower beds and lawn until moving to the state of Georgia to reside at Waycross Health and Rehabilitation Center to be closer to his son Richard and his wife Jackie. Swanton folks will always remember him for his love of bingo, his many flowers and immaculate lawn.
Dick was predeceased by his wife Doris (Herson); four sisters Blanch, Lillian, Pearl and Flora; and two brothers Ernest and Edward. He leaves his son Richard and wife Jackie and their children Julie, Richard, Pamela, Holly; many great-grandchildren; and two sister-in-laws, Frances Champagne of Wallingford, Conn. and Mary Herson Gladden of Swanton.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday, May 8, 2004, at 2 p.m. from the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton. Father John J. Meagher, SSE will officiate. Interment will follow in the Champagne family lot in Riverside Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home on Saturday from 1 p.m. until the hour of the funeral.

HERMAN FRANCIS PELKEY
HIGHGATE SPRINGS -- Herman Francis Pelkey, 67, a longtime Highgate Springs resident, died Monday afternoon, May 3, 2004, in his home surrounded by his family.
He was born in Highgate Falls, Feb. 25, 1937, to the late Herman A. and Frances (Bailey) Pelkey. He graduated from Highgate High School and was married to the former Jayne R. Raleigh who survives him. He spent most of his working life as a master electrician and also served several years in the Vermont Army National Guard.
In addition to his wife, Herman leaves his three children Karen (Pelkey) and her husband Eric Robinson of St. Albans, Jack Pelkey and his wife Michelle of Highgate Springs and Darren Pelkey and his wife Jennifer of Elkin, N.C.; his stepchildren, Wendy Defoe of San Francisco, Calif., Kellie and Doug Marlow of Lake Shastina, Calif. and Darren Defoe and Melanie Begnoche of Highgate Springs. He also leaves his brother, fishing partner, and lifelong partner in crime Hector Pelkey and his companion Nancy Bronson of Highgate Springs, his brother George Pelkey and his wife Claire of St. Albans and his sister Paulette Buckley and her husband Douglas of St. Albans. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Jack Pelkey Jr., Kevin, Sarah and Peter Robinson, and Adam Marlow. He also leaves several nieces and nephews.
The Pelkey family wishes to give special thanks to: The nursing staff on Shepardson 4 at Fletcher Allen Health Care for their professional care and concern. To Bob Di Ferdinando for enduring the sleepless nights of a dying man with great compassion: Franklin County Home Health Agency-Hospice Program for making it possible for Herman to die at home and to Bill Tainsh and Ray Desrochers for the enjoyment they brought to his life.
Friends may call at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton on Friday, May 7, 2004, from 4 to 6 p.m. Funeral Services will be held immediately after at 6 p.m. The Reverend Marcheta Townsend will officiate.

ROBERT O. MARLOWE
SOUTH BURLINGTON -- Robert O. Marlowe, 65, died peacefully in his sleep on May 3, 2004, following a brief but courageous battle with cancer. He was born July 23, 1938 in Cambridge, Mass. His mother, Yvonne Brodil, is currently a resident of Shelburne. He was predeceased by his father Frank Marlowe in 1964 and by his stepfather Frank Brodil in 2000.
Robert graduated from Norwich University in 1960, and spent four years in the army in Germany from 1960-1964. His professional career was devoted largely to commercial real estate and at the time of his death he was employed by Pomerleau Real Estate. It was a job that he loved, and into which he poured a tremendous amount of energy, enthusiasm, and expertise. In his leisure time he enjoyed golf, travel, sailing, cooking and most of all supporting his partner Anne in her equestrian hobby of dressage.
He is survived by his beloved partner Anne Peck of South Burlington; mother Yvonne of Shelburne; son Scott and his wife Vladka and granddaughter Estella of Prague, Czech Rep.; daughter Tiffany of Washington, D.C.; sister Suzanne Chute and husband Jack of St. Michaels, Md.; former wife Sandra of Burlington; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
A Memorial Service celebrating his life will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, May 7, 2004, at the First Congregational Church, 38 South Winooski Ave, Burlington. Visiting hours will be at the Ready Funeral Home, South Chapel, 261 Shelburne Road, Burlington on Thursday, May 6, from 5 to 8 p.m.

WILLIAM FRANCIS LADUE
GREENVILLE, N.H. -- William Francis Ladue, 78, of Greenville, N.H., passed away on May 1, 2004, at Birchwood Care Facility in Fitchburg, Mass. Mr. Ladue was born on May 27, 1925, in St. Albans. Vt., the son of the late Lawrence and Marjorie (Zweeres) Ladue.
He was an army veteran of 27 years. He served in World War II Korea and Vietnam conflicts. After retiring in '71, he worked at Bates Corrugated Box company. He was a member of the VFW Post 66538 in Townsend, Mass., also a member of the American Legion Post in Greenville, N.H.
Family members include his wife of 58 years, Doris (Bombardier) Ladue; and two sons, William J. Ladue and wife Debra of Ashley, Mass., and Christopher and wife Lisa of Hillsboro, N.H.; a daughter, Gail Daigle and husband Gary of Gaithersburg, Md. He also leaves several grandchildren; nieces and nephews; one brother, Larry Ladue from Temple, Ariz. He was predeceased by his parents, and two brothers, Robert and Roland.
Services will be held at the convenience of the family.
MILDRED "MILLIE" BEAUVAIS
BURLINGTON -- Mildred "Millie" Beauvais passed away Friday, March 19, 2004, in Fletcher Allen Health Care following a long illness.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on May 8, 2004, at 1 p.m. in Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church with burial to follow in Resurrection Park Cemetery. Millie's family will be available to greet friends at the church one hour prior to Mass.

EDWARD L. PARKER
FAIRFAX -- Edward Leo Parker, 76, died on Sunday, May 2, 2004, at his home in Fairfax. He was born in West Rutland on Dec. 15, 1927. He married the former Betty Driscoll on Oct. 12, 1957, in Fairfax.
Ed proudly served his country after enlisting in the Navy and was stationed in Guam during the Korean Conflict. Ed's love in life was driving tractor trailer, logging over 2 million miles during his 50 year career of which his loving wife Betty was co-pilot sharing over 1/2 million treasured miles with him. He was a devoted employee with Merrill's Transport of Portland, Maine for more than 12 years, John Leo and Sons for over eight years and more recently retired in April from Engineers Construction Inc.
Ed was also well known in the Citizens Band community by his handle "Poor Boy, " a name which he lovingly assigned to his antique 1964 International truck. He will be greatly missed by his adoring family and many friends.
He is survived by his wife, Betty (Driscoll) Parker of Fairfax; his daughter, Heidi Littlefield and her husband David of Fairfax; and three grandchildren, Jesse, Kyle, and Dale Littlefield all of Fairfax. He was predeceased by his son, Edde Robert Parker on July 26, 1981.
Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, May 5, 2004, from 5 to 8 p.m. in Hayes-Rich Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, May 6, 2004, at 11 a.m. in St. Luke Church, Fairfax with Reverend Francis Connors officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot in Sanderson Corners Cemetery, Fairfax.

THOMAS RANDEL HUGHES
NORTH HERO -- Thomas Hughes, 50, of North Hero, Vt., passed away on April 23, 2004, after a long battle with liver disease. He was at Leahy Clinic in Burlington, Mass. at the time of his death.
Tom was born on March 4, 1954 in Memphis, Tenn., the son of Thomas Ryman Hughes and June Thomas.
Tom leaves behind his wife, Kimberly Erno Hughes. Also his Granny Dot and Mother of Tennessee; a sister, Vicky Deason of Tennessee; two brothers, Sheldon Hughes and Robert Hughes of Mississippi. Also his children Shanna Hughes of Swanton, Vt., Ashley Hughes of Tennessee, Becky and Russell Hughes of California, and Steven and Collin. Also his mother-in-laws and father-in-laws, Barbara and Vercile Blair of Alburg, and Kathy and Ernest Erno of Enosburg Falls, Amy Erno and Scott Mashtare, Kelly and Skipper Deyo of Alburg. Also nieces Anna Mashtare, Kerri and Ashleigh Deyo and nephew Cameron Erno, all of Alburg.
Tom was predeceased by his father, who also died this year. Tom moved to Vermont in 2002 and married Kimberly Erno on June 22, 2002. They resided in North Hero.
Tom was employed for many years driving for Yello cab and Greyhound bus in Memphis and Nashville, Tenn. He was most recently employed at Mountain Transit Inc. in Milton, until he became ill.
Tom loved wrestling and was a past amateur wrestler himself. He loved fishing and NASCAR racing. Tom was a member of the North Hero Volunteer Fire Department.
Tom will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends.
There will be a memorial service for family and friends at St. Amadeus Church in Alburg on May 12, 2004, at 2 p.m. Interment will be at the family's convenience.
ARMAND G. DEMERS
PORT CHARLOTTE, Fla. -- Armand G. Demers, 75, of Port Charlotte, Fla., passed away at his residence Sunday, May 2, 2004. He was born June 7, 1928, in Swanton, Vt. He had relocated to Port Charlotte in 1975 from St. Albans, Vt.
He had been a sign painter for Port Charlotte Signs. He later owned and operated Harborview Signs, retiring in 1994. He served in the U.S. Army with the Construction Engineers in Germany during the Korean War. He was a member of St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church and lifetime member of the American Legion Post 110 and B.P.O.E. Lodge 2153 in Port Charlotte, Fla.
Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Mary Jane "Molly" Demers of Port Charlotte, Fla.; a daughter, Anne (Randall) Horner of North Port, Fla.; three sons, Glen (Marie) Demers of Fort Myers, Fla., Marc (Tammie) Demers of Glendale, Ariz., and Ross (Karen) Demers of Port Charlotte, Fla.; two brothers, Andrew (Priscilla) Demers of South Windsor, Conn. and Marcel Demers of Englewood, Fla.; two sisters, Helen (Jacques) Bourbeau of St. Albans, Vt. and Pauline (Roger) Renaud of Sturbridge, Mass.; and six grandchildren.
A Memorial Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. Friday, May 7, 2004, at St. Maximilian Kolbe Catholic Church, 1446 Spear St., Port Charlotte, Fla.
