MARGUERITE VIRGINIA BROWN (SALISBURY) HUDAK
SWANTON -- A truly saintly lady has departed from our midst. It has been her wish that her departure cause her innumerable friends and relatives a minimum disruption of their lives, so she has requested that there be no funeral or other ceremony relative to her leaving us. Though we recognize her selflessness in making this request, we do so with the knowledge that this is but another aspect of her life - concern for others. That concern has been the hallmark of her life. The individuals, human, animal or vegetable which have come under her influence, have known always her interest in their welfare. This interest has never been affected by the merits or lack of merits of the recipients of her attention. It would be totally futile to try to enumerate those who have benefitted from her tender care. Nor could we assess the void which her departure creates in the lives of her survivors.
Born in Washington, D.C. on July 6, 1917, she graduated from George Washington University in 1941 and began her career of service to others at New York Hospital, where she formed a life partnership with John Hudak. They lived in Vermont for more than fifty years where they raised five children, who are well known in the community. Her full name was Marguerite (from her mother) Virginia Brown (from a dear friend of her mother) Hudak, nee Salisbury. She was better known as Ginny Hudak or just "Ma" Hudak.
