BRUCE A. TROVILLE, SR.

ST. ALBANS -- Bruce A. Troville, Sr., 53, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, shortly after arrival at Northwestern Medical Center. He was born in Burlington, Dec. 26, 1949, the son of Georgette (Goodsell) Troville and the late Howard Troville. Bruce married Gwendolyn Behan in Champlain, N.Y. on Oct. 26, 1968. He and his family moved to St. Albans from Plattsburgh, N.Y. in 1983.

Bruce worked for Ayerst Labs for eight years until his disability caused him to retire. He received an Associates Degree from Community College of Vermont and a Bachelor of Science Degree from Johnson State College. He also attended Guiding Eyes for the Blind in Yorktown, N.Y. and received his Seeing Eye Dog "Guthrie." He had served on the St. Albans City Zoning Board. In his leisure he enjoyed politics, classic cars, camping, hiking and gardening.

Bruce is survived by his wife of 35 years, Gwendolyn; his mother, Georgette M. Troville of Atlanta, Ga.; a son, Bruce A. Troville, Jr. of Greenville, S.C.; a daughter, Kerry Ann Franzen and her husband, Michael of Lake Mary, Fla.; two brothers, Howard Troville and his wife, Jackie of Atlanta, Ga., and Bryant Troville and his wife, Lillian of Hershey, Pa.; eight grandchildren, Jonathan, Janeva and Bryant Troville, Christopher, Samantha and Shawn Neste and Heidi and Alex Franzen. He also leaves his guide dog, "Guthrie"; and several nieces, nephews and cousins, including a special cousin, Thomas Troville III and his wife, Debbie of Nashua, N.H. with whom he shared his love of classic cars. He was predeceased by his father, Howard; and a son-in-law, Albert Anthony Neste.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday at 11 a.m. in Holy Angels Catholic Church with Father Maurice Roy as Celebrant.

Gifts in Bruce's memory may be made to Vermont Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired, 37 Elmwood Avenue, Burlington, Vt. 05401-4390.

ALBERT "HUGH" CASSIDY

NEWPORT, Vt. -- Mr. Albert "Hugh" Cassidy, 92, a 66-year resident of Newport, passed away in Newport on Wednesday, Dec. 17, 2003.

Hugh was born in Berkshire on Feb. 10, 1911, the son of Albert R. and Grace (Hodges) Cassidy. He was an agent for 32 years with the Prudential Insurance Company until his retirement in 1972. Over the years, Hugh was involved in several different pastimes, such as gardening, fishing, woodworking and cross country skiing. At one time, he was involved with the Boy Scouts of America, Meals on Wheels as a driver, and a volunteer at North Country Hospital. Hugh was a good Christian man and an active member of the United Church of Newport.

On Nov. 22, 1935, he married Eileen Pease, who predeceased him. He also survived by his children, David and wife Corrine Cassidy of Hanover, N.H.; and Carol Lawlor of Seal Beach, Calif.; his grandchildren, Suzanne Weaverling of Hanford, Calif., Ruth C. Cassidy of Waco, Texas, David H. Cassidy Jr. of Bedford, N.H.; by his great-grandchildren, Margo E., John D., and Matthew F. Cassidy of Bedford, N.H.; by a brother, Wendell and wife Barbara Cassidy of Enosburg Falls; by a sister, Phyllis Messier and husband Steve of Enosburg Falls; and by several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his sons, Allen R. and John M. Cassidy.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, at the United Church of Newport, 63 Third St., Newport. Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until the hour of the funeral service on Friday morning.

Spring interment will be held at the Pine Grove Cemetery in Newport.

Should friends desire, contributions in Hugh's memory may be made to the United Church of Newport, 63 Third St., Newport, Vt. 05855.

PHILIP T. PARAH

ST. ALBANS / FAIRFAX -- Philip T. Parah, 70, a lifelong resident of this area, passed away Sunday evening, Dec. 14, 2003, at Holiday House Nursing Facility following a long illness. He was born in St. Albans, Nov. 26, 1933, the son of the late Louis and Edna (Goulette) Parah. He married Shirley E. Austin on his birthday in 1960 in St. Mary's Church in St. Albans.

Phil retired in 1981 from the University of Vermont where he was a carpenter in the maintenance department. Prior to his 14 years at UVM, he was employed at Mac's Tire Shop and operated the family farm in Fletcher. He was a communicant of St. Luke's Catholic Church in Fairfax, and a member of the Fairfax Knights of Columbus. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. He had been a volunteer fire fighter in Fairfax and was a former member of Robert E. Glidden Post 758, VFW and Green Mountain Post 1, American Legion. He enjoyed boating, fishing and playing cards and will be fondly remembered for crafting wooden toy "eighteen wheelers" for many appreciative children.

Phil is survived by his wife of 43 years, Shirley, of Fairfax; his son, John Parah and his wife, Kathleen, of Fairfax; two daughters, Norma Sprague and her husband, Steven, of Hinesburg and Barbara Parah of St. Albans; three brothers, Francis Parah of Sheldon, Ronald Parah and his wife, Sandra, of Swanton and Clarence Parah and his wife, Betty of Burlington; a grandson, James M. Sprague; two sisters-in-law, Patricia Parah of St. Albans and Alma Parah of Swanton; and nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a son, Victor P. Parah, Nov. 21st of this year; a grandson, Kyle A. Parah, Dec. 14, 2000; and three brothers, Fred, Clifford and Roy.

Phil's family wishes to thank the staff at Holiday House for their excellent care during his stay there and a special thanks to Frank for his friendship.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Luke's Catholic Church. Pastor Francis E. Connors will be the celebrant. Interment will follow in St. Luke's Cemetery in Fairfax. HELEN HOLMES MORSE

EXETER, N.H. -- Helen Holmes Morse, 91, died Monday, Dec. 15, 2003, in Exeter, N.H. after a brief illness.

Born Sept. 21, 1912 in St. Albans, she was the daughter of the late Arthur T. Holmes and Jane (Nichols) Holmes of St. Albans, and sister to the late Isabel (Holmes) Macomber of Exeter. She was a member of the first graduating class of Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans, and Champlain College. She moved to New York City and became an executive secretary at Harriman Ripley.

She married the late Russell L. Morse in 1940. They were residents of Bronxville, N.Y. for 25 years until her husband's death in 1973. While in Bronxville, she raised her family and volunteered for many local organizations.

She moved to Exeter, N.H. in 1974, where she volunteered for the Exeter Area Visiting Nurses, the League of NH Craftsmen and Exeter Hospital. She was an avid bridge player all of her life.

She is survived by her daughter, Joan Russell Eaton of Lake Bomoseen, Vt.; her son, Barclay Holmes Morse and his wife JoAnne Morse of Sherborn, Mass.; her grandchildren, David B. Eaton and his wife, Jacqueline Eaton of Cumberland, R.I., and Stacie E. Eaton of Rutland; her great-grandsons, Kyle and Jeffrey Eaton of Cumberland; and two nieces and one nephew and their families.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 20, 2003, at 2 p.m. in the Great Bay Room at Riverwoods at Exeter.

Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Rockingham Visiting Nurses, 137 Epping Road, Exeter, N.H. 03833.

IONA ALICE ( RICE) BUSHEY

HIGHGATE CENTER -- Mrs. Iona Rice Bushey, 62, a lifelong resident of the Highgate area, died late Monday evening, Dec. 15, 2003, at The Holiday House Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in St. Albans Town.

Born in St. Albans, Oct. 7, 1941, she was the daughter of the late Claire and Mary (McEnany) Rice. She attended schools in Highgate and graduated from Highgate High School with the Class of 1960. On June 10, 1961, she married Kenneth Blair Bushey Jr. who predeceased her July 5, 1983.

For many years Iona worked as a paraprofessional at Missisquoi Valley Union High School and was able to fill any position that was needed. During the 1982 to 1983 Hockey Season she and her husband Blair operated The Pro Shop at the Highgate Arena. In earlier years she also worked in food service at the Highgate Elementary School. Iona was a longtime parishioner of St. Louis Roman Catholic Church. She will also be remembered for her love of playing Bingo and visiting the gambling casinos in Las Vegas, Atlantic City and Upstate New York.

Iona leaves her daughter Wendy Bedard and her husband Ron and two sons, Randy J. Bushey and his wife Wendy, and Todd B. Bushey and his wife Kathy all of Highgate; a sister, Christine Ward and her husband Donald of Sheldon; one brother Reginald Rice and his wife Jeannette of East Highgate; six grandchildren, Erica and Chelsea Bushey, Lindsay and Travis Bedard and Kayla and Amber Bushey; two step-grandchildren Shawn and Kyle LaBarron; as well as several brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by two sisters, Patricia Sartwell and Cora Lavoie.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Dec. 19, 2003, at 11 a.m. from St. Louis Roman Catholic Church, Lamkin Street, Highgate Center. Father John J. Meagher, SSE will be the celebrant and homilist. Interment will follow in the Bushey family lot in St. Louis Cemetery. There will be no public calling hours.

JAMES L. GARROW, SR.

RICHFORD -- James L. Garrow, Sr., age 80, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 16, 2003, at the Holiday House Nursing Home in St. Albans, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born June 15, 1923, in Montgomery, the son of the late Donald and Lillian (Greene) Garrow.

James worked on several area farms for many years and had also owned and operated the family farm on West Hill in Montgomery. He also worked for Bailey Feeds, H.P. Hood, E.M. Hayes, and was a spare truck driver for McDermotts. Along with his wife, they owned and operated the Richford Dry Cleaners and Laundromat. He was a member of the Richford Methodist Church and a former member of the Richford Lions Club

James will always be remembered for his willingness to help others and most of all his dedication to hard work, which he instilled in his family.

He is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Inzy (Buzzell) Garrow of Richford, they were married Feb. 26, 1944; three sons, James Garrow, Jr. and his significant other, Theodora "Teddie" LaBounty of Enosburg Falls, Robert Garrow and his wife Susan of East Berkshire, and Gordon Garrow and his wife Rita of Berkshire; three daughters and their husbands, Shirley and Gerald Perry of St. Albans, Sandra and Leonard Embury of Richford, and Linda and Donny Marcy of Richford; 20 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Edward Garrow, and his friend Maggie Bero of St. Albans; three sisters, Janice Marston of Enosburg Falls, Gyneth Hauter and her husband Robert of Ocean, N.J., and Helen Ashton of St. Albans; and several nieces and nephews. James also leaves a close friend, Wendell Jewett and his wife Evelyn of Richford. He also had a special love for his dog, Queenie. He was predeceased by his father Donald Garrow; his mother, Lillian Frazier; a granddaughter, Tonya Beaudry on Oct. 22, 2003; and a great-granddaughter, Amy Elizabeth Kane on Aug. 21, 1993.

Visiting hours will be held one hour prior to the funeral which will be held Friday afternoon at 2 at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls with Reverend Heidi Reinker officiating. Interment will be next spring in the Hillside Cemetery in Richford.

NAOMI GRACE GIBSON

ORANGE CITY, Fla. -- Naomi Grace Gibson, age 94, of Orange City, Fla., died Friday, Dec. 12, 2003, at Majestic Oaks at John Knox Village in Orange City.

Mrs. Gibson was born in Clarenceville, Canada. She moved to Orange City in 1975 from Vermont. She was a retired Midwife/Nurses Assistant. Mrs. Gibson was a member of Orange City United Methodist Church, International Order of King's Daughters and Sons Inc., and the United Methodist Women. She loved music and singing.

She is survived by one daughter, Nathalie N. Roy of Orange City, Fla.; one sister, Lillian Perry of Bedford, Quebec; three grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations may be made to the Orange City United Methodist Church, 396 East University Avenue, Orange City, Fla. 32763, or to any favorite charity.

Lankford Funeral Home in DeLand, Fla. is in charge of arrangements.

STEPHEN R. BOSLEY

MONTGOMERY -- Stephen R. Bosley, age 54, passed away unexpectedly as the result of a heart attack on Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, while hunting with his son Jonathan.

He was born May 19, 1949, in St. Albans, the son of Barbara (Young) Bosley and the late Ralph Bosley.

He was a resident of Montgomery for the past 31 years and was a member and had served on the Board of Trustees of the Montgomery Methodist Church. He was a former resident of Enosburg Falls and Bristol, Conn. where he was a 1967 graduate of Bristol High School. Following high school he was drafted and served with the U.S. Navy during Vietnam. He was employed at Ramsdell's Plumbing & Heating and then was a self employed Master Plumber for 13 years retiring due to poor health in 1992. He was a member and past Master of the Lincoln Lodge F&AM of Enosburg Falls, served on the Montgomery School Board and coached Little League baseball for several years. He also spent time at the Vietnam Veterans Center in Burlington.

Steve was an avid hunter, fisherman and was an expert outdoorsman. He was also very proud of his Native American heritage and enjoyed drumming and singing with the Wintegok Singers. He was a loving father and devoted husband.

He is survived by his wife of 31 years, F. Joy Bosley of Montgomery, they were married July 1, 1972; his son, Jonathan Bosley and his wife, Sabine Likhite of Waterville; his daughter, Jolene O'Connell and her husband Ryan of West Yarmouth, Mass.; his mother, Barbara Bosley of Richford; his grandmother, Lila Young of Enosburg Falls; his brother, Timothy Bosley and his wife, Gail of Berkshire; his sister, Kathleen Martin of Moretown; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Douglas and Pearl Tryhorne of Montgomery; his brother-in-law, David Tryhorne and his wife, Sally of Enosburg; his sister-in-law, Jeannette Bosley of Berkshire; close family friend, David Hall of Golden Lake, Ont.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Besides his father he was predeceased by a twin brother, Stuart Bosley.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday morning at 11 at the Montgomery Methodist Church with Pastor Ed Sorrell officiating. Interment will be next spring in the Montgomery Village Cemetery.

Visiting hours will be held Tuesday evening from 7 to 9 at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.

MARGARET SARAH ELIZABETH PUDVAH

ST. ALBANS -- Margaret Sarah Elizabeth Pudvah, age 66, passed away Sunday, Dec. 14, 2003, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans. She was born in Howick, Que. Canada on March 25, 1937, the daughter of the late John and Jane (Brown) Aston.

Margaret was a resident of St. Albans for the past six years and a former resident of Enosburg Falls and Montgomery Center. When her children were young she devoted her time to raising her family. Later, she had worked as a cook at many area restaurants and most recently worked in the deli at Price Chopper in St. Albans. She enjoyed doing for others, as well as crafts and knitting. Most of all she loved her family, especially her grandchildren.

She is survived by her son, Michael Sturtevant and his friend Lorna Letourneau of Northfield; her daughter, Lori Griffin of Richmond and her family; her grandsons, Jarad and Gavin Baker of Montgomery Center; her son-in-law, Billy Baker Jr. of Montgomery Center; her sister, Rose Weinhold and her husband, Arnold of Cowansville, Que.; several nieces and nephews, all of whom she loved dearly. She was predeceased by her first husband, Ronald Sturtevant in 1970; her second husband, Hollis Pudvah in 1990; her son, Richard Pudvah, April 19, 1995; her daughter, Katherine Baker, Aug. 20, 2003, and her brother, Fred Aston in 1992.

Friends and relatives may call on the family one hour prior to the funeral which will be held Thursday afternoon at 2 at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls. Interment will be next spring in the Montgomery Center Cemetery.
