LILLIAN L. REYNOLDS

GEORGIA -- Lillian L. Reynolds, 102, died peacefully Saturday, Aug. 23, 2003, at the Holiday House Nursing Facility in St. Albans. Lillian was born in Georgia, Vt. on April 13, 1901, the daughter of Mortimer and Louella (Chase) Loomis.

She attended the Johnson Normal School and was a teacher in Georgia and St. Albans for many years. Lillian married to Harley C. "Bub" Reynolds on Aug. 24, 1927, in Swanton. Bub predeceased her in the early Sixties.

Mrs. Reynolds was very active in Georgia Town affairs until her later years.

She is survived by many cousins, including Harmon Loomis, formerly of Georgia, William Torrey IV & William Torrey V of the Phoenix Ariz. area, Michael Loomis of Burlington, Bruce Loomis of Georgia, and Rodger Loomis of Sacramento, Calif. She was predeceased by cousins Charlotte Bliss and Beverly McGee.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, Aug. 28, 2003, at 1 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton. Burial will follow in the Georgia Plains Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Boystown.

Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, Aug. 28, 2003, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.

PHYLLIS S. CAVERZASI

ST. ALBANS -- Mrs. Phyllis S. Caverzasi, age 85, died Sunday morning, Aug. 24, 2003, at the Vermont Respite House in Williston. She was born in Montpelier on May 11, 1918, daughter of the late Fred W. and Minnie (Roy) Spooner. She was employed by the U.S. Customs, retiring in 1980.

Oct. 5, 1944, she married Americo P. Caverzasi. Mr. Caverzasi died Feb. 8, 1992. She was an avid traveler, having gone by ship to England twice, and to the Caribbean several times with her late husband.

She is survived by her son, Peter, and his wife Patricia (Burnesconi) Caverazsi of Tappan, N.Y.; three granddaughters, Courtney Caverzasi of Tappan, N.Y., Tara Caverazsi of Greenwich, Conn., and Amanda Caverazsi of Washington, D.C.; her sister, Lena Sheridan of Hingham, Mass.; sister-in-law, Lydia Spooner of North Adams, Mass.; seven nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Arthur Spooner, and brother-in-law, William Sheridan.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 10 a.m. in the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home. Friends may call at the funeral home, 86 South Main St., from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday in Green Mountain Cemetery, South State Street, Montpelier, Vt.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Franklin County Home Health Agency, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, Vt. 05478.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

MICHAEL TODD POQUETTE

ST. ALBANS -- Michael Todd Poquette, 39, passed away Aug. 21, 2003, at his residence on Upper Welden Street. He was born in St. Albans, March 12, 1964 the son of Janet (Patnaude) Poquette and the late Carl L. Poquette who predeceased him on April 28, 1964.

Mike enjoyed fishing and camping.

Survivors include his mother, Janet P. Poquette of St. Albans; his paternal grandmother, Francis Poquette of Alburg; two brothers, James H. Poquette of Alburg and Richard N. Poquette of New York City; six sisters, Alice Baker of Essex Junction, Donna L. Poquette of St. Albans, Karen A. Jerry of Sheldon Springs, Janet L. Poquette of St. Albans, Gail L. Poquette of St. Albans and Tina M. Lee of St. Albans; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition to his father, Mike was predeceased by two brothers, Carl M. Poquette on Jan. 23, 1953, and Robert Paul Poquette on Oct. 9, 1994.

A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2003, at 11 a.m. in St. Amadeus Catholic Church in Alburg with the Reverend Maurice U. Boucher, S.S.E. celebrating a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in the family lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Michael's family will receive friends on Wednesday from 9 to 10 a.m. in the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of one's choice.

PEARL HELEN WILLIAMS

MONTGOMERY -- Pearl Helen Williams, age 88, passed away peacefully Wednesday evening, Aug. 20, 2003, at the Haven Health Care Facility in St. Albans. She was born Sept. 23, 1914, in Getzville, N.Y., the daughter of the late Edwin and Emma (Mislin) Moe.

Pearl was a resident of Montgomery since 1993. Before that, she was a resident of Burlington (from 1987 to 1993); New Fairfield, Conn. (1969 to 1987); and New York, N.Y. (1938 to 1969). Pearl was a 44-year survivor of breast cancer.

Known as Mimi to her family, she is survived by her daughter, Jo Anne Bennett and her husband David of Montgomery and Ottawa, Ontario; three grandchildren, Russell Bennett of Montreal, Quebec, Christen Bennett of Manhattan, N.Y., and Jonathan Bennett of Ottawa, Ontario. She was predeceased by her husband, Captain Milton Williams, Ret. USN; a sister, Grace Grimmer; and a brother, Carl Moe.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, Aug. 26, at 11 a.m. at Pratt Hall in Montgomery Village. Interment will follow in West Hill Cemetery in Montgomery. There will be no visiting hours.

KATHERINE L. BAKER

MONTGOMERY CENTER - Katherine L. Baker, 34, passed away Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2003, surrounded by her loving family, in the Vermont Respite House in Williston following a long, courageous battle with cancer. Kathy was born May 15, 1969, in St. Albans, the daughter of Margaret (Aston) Sturtevant and the late Ronald Sturtevant.

Kathy was a 1987 graduate of Enosburg Falls High School. Following high school, she was employed by Sid Berkson and Phil Gerbode at the Main Street Mall in Enosburg Falls, then as the office manager and real estate agent at Poquette & Bruley Real Estate in St. Albans. For the past two years, she was the loan originator at the Lyndonville Savings Bank in Enosburg Falls. She was a member of the Franklin County Board of Realtors and former treasurer and secretary of the Montgomery Fire Department.

Kathy enjoyed singing and music and took great pride in her flower gardens. She will be remembered by her sense of humor and always having a way of making people feel good and special, even during her most difficult of times.

She is survived by her husband, Billy Baker Jr. of Montgomery Center; her cherished children, Jarad and Gavin Baker of Montgomery Center; her mother, Margaret Sturtevant Pudvah of St. Albans; her brother, Michael Sturtevant and his fiancee, Lorna Letourneau, of Northfield; her sister, Lori Griffin of Richmond and her family; her in-laws, Bill and Denise Baker of Montgomery Center; her brother-in-law, Gary Baker and his son, Wyatt, of Montgomery Center; her sister-in-law, Corrine Baker and her children, Jesse and Jenna Bassett of Hyde Park; many special friends and extended family, all of whom have been very loving and supportive through Kathy's illness. She also leaves her dog, Macy.

Besides her father, she was predeceased by her loving brother, Richard Pudvah; and her stepfather, Hollis Pudvah.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in St. Isidore Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Montgomery Center Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.

EVERETT ARLAN BRITCH

ENOSBURG FALLS -- Everett Arlan Britch, age 69, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2003, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans. Everett was the third generation born on the family farm in Bakersfield on May 5, 1934, the son of the late Flossie Wells Britch and Rolice Britch Jr.

Everett farmed for many years prior to driving a bus for Wrightholm Bus Lines in Enosburg for 25 years, retiring in 1997. He enjoyed making log cabin bird houses, miniature furniture and watching and reading about the weather. He also enjoyed riding the back roads and most recently riding his scooter around the village.

He is survived by his wife, Jeanne (Miller) Britch of Enosburg Falls; his daughter, Susan Britch Fletcher and her husband Alan of Richford; two step-sons, George Thorsen Jr., his wife Kelly, and their children Shay and Sawyer of Enfield, N.H., Matthew Thorsen and his companion Diane Sullivan of Burlington; two step-daughters, Kathe Steiner and her husband Daniel of Enosburg Falls, and Donna Redd of Richford; his first wife, Evelyn Fassett of Richford; a sister, Theda Larose and her husband Raymond of Enosburg Falls; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Barbara Britch in 1957; two sisters, Marchaline Cummings and Thelma Aldrich; and a brother, Clifton Britch.

In keeping with Everett's wish there will be no funeral services. A private graveside committal will take place in the family lot at the Maple Grove Cemetery in Bakersfield at the convenience of the family.

Spears Funeral Home in Enosburg Falls is in charge of arrangements.

JOFFRE V. THIBAULT

ST. ALBANS -- Mr. Joffre V. Thibault, age 86, died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2003, at Northwestern Medical Center. He was born in St. Albans, May 1, 1917, son of the late Alfred and Alma (Bourgigone) Thibault. He graduated from Holy Angels School and was employed as a clerk for the Central Vermont Railway. On Oct. 11, 1942, he married Alcina St. Dennis. She predeceased him on Feb. 15, 2001.

Joffre is survived by his daughter, Paule and her husband Reginald Fiske of Swanton; his son Norman and his wife Patricia Thibault of Merimack, N.H.; eight grandchildren, Kim Flint and her husband Richard, Joe Phenix and his wife Bobbie Jo, Shaun Fiske and his wife Tanya, Joel Thibault, Greg Thibault, Laurie Thibault, Becca Thibault and Leanne Fiske; five great-grandchildren, Sarah Flint, Megan Flint, Laura Flint, Dakota Phenix, and Desiray Laplante; and several nieces and nephews. Joffre was the last surviving of his six siblings, Arthur, Armand, Emile, Raymond and Maurice Thibault, and Florence Barber.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Church. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St., St. Albans, from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. Interment will be in the Thibault family lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

HOLLIS NEAL TOMLINSON

ARCADE, N.Y. -- Hollis N. Tomlinson, 74, died unexpectedly Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003, at Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans. He had been a longtime resident of Arcade, N.Y. He and his wife were visiting their sons in Vermont. He was born July 23, 1929, in Colchester, the son of the late Neal and Alice (Bixby) Tomlinson.

He graduated from Essex Center High School. On Jan. 22, 1949, Hollis married Shirley LaFrance in the United Church of Hinesburg. Hollis was a grader operator for the state of Vermont before moving to New York state. He retired from IUOE Local 17 in 1992 as an operating engineer. He was a member of Mount Mansfield Lodge 26, F&AM for a number of years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Shirley of Arcade; their two sons, Neal Tomlinson of Milton, and Scott Tomlinson and his wife, Penny, of St. Albans; three grandchildren, James Michael, Darcy Lynn and Megan Elizabeth Tomlinson; two sisters; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Stephen Tomlinson in 1990.

Visiting hours are Friday, Aug. 22, from 5 to 7 p.m. at the Corbin and Palmer Funeral Home, 9 Pleasant St., Essex Junction. A graveside memorial service conducted by Mount Mansfield Lodge 26, F&AM, will be held at 3 p.m. in Mountainview Cemetery in Essex Center.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 114 Perimeter Road, Unit G & H, Nashua, N.H. 03063, or to the American Heart Association, Vermont Affiliate, 434 Hurricane Lane, Williston, Vt. 05495.

OLIVER "JOHN" CROSS JR.

MILTON -- Oliver J. Cross Jr., 88, died Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2003, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. Oliver was born on Feb. 3, 1915, in St. Albans, the son of Oliver and Josephine (Thibault) Cross.

On March 1, 1938 he married Rose LaBell at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St. Albans. Oliver and Rose farmed for many years. Following retirement from farming, he worked for Beck and Belucci. He eventually went to work for the State of Vermont Department of Health. Oliver was a member of the Arrowhead Seniors and of the CVAA.

He is survived by his wife Rose; by his children, Josephine Pelletier and Ila Barrows, both of Milton, Pauline Gordon and her husband Leland of Jeffersonville, Arlon Cross and his wife Caroline of Milton and Marie Brunet of Mass.; by 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren; by his sisters, Evelyn LaBell of Milton, Ethel Messier of Fairfield, Ester Jewett of Franklin; his brother Ectus Cross of St. Albans Bay; and by several nieces and nephews.

Oliver was predeceased by a daughter, Phyllis; by his son-in-laws George Pelletier, Keith Barrows, and Gerard Brunet; his grandsons, Mitchell Barrows and Timothy Gordon; his sisters, Ina McKinney, and Alma King; his brothers, Walter and Eugene Cross; and his faithful companion, his Pomeranian dog Cindy.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, Aug. 21, 2003, at 10 a.m. in St. Ann's Catholic Church in Milton. Burial will follow in the Holy Cross Cemetery in St. Albans.

For those who wish, memorials may be made to Milton Rescue, P.O. Box 15, Milton, Vt. 05468, or the Vermont Association of the Blind.

Visiting hours will be held on today, Aug. 20, from 5 to 9 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton. Prayers will be offered Wednesday evening at 8:45 p.m. in the funeral home by the Reverend Father John Feltz.
