Robbins services
MARLBOROUGH, N.H. -- A memorial service for Susan L. Robbins, 48, of 5 Main St., who died unexpectedly Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at the Cheshire Medical Center in Keene, will be held Saturday, May 5, at 10 a.m. at the Fletcher Funeral Home in Keene. There will be no calling hours.
Squires services
BRATTLEBORO -- Funeral services were held Monday afternoon, April 30, at Max E. Carr Funeral Home for Webster G. Squires of Guilford Center Road in Guilford, who died April 26 at Brattleboro Memorial Hospital.
The Rev. Pete Hults, pastor of the Westminster Congregational Church, officiated. Personal eulogies and remembrances were offered by Mr. Squires' family.
Burial was in Guilford Center Cemetery where Rev. Hults offered committal prayers.
Serving as bearers were David Squires, Andrew Squires, Kenneth Squires, Rebecca Gagnon West, Bonnie Newton, and Richard Clark.
Wood services
BRATTLEBORO -- Graveside committal rites and burial for Florence V. Wood will be conducted Friday morning in the family lot in Evergreen Cemetery in Winchester, N.H.
Mrs. Wood, 76, of Clark Avenue, died Dec. 12, 2000, at her home.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Atamaniuk Funeral Home.
Bjoern Andreasson
BRATTLEBORO -- Bjoern A. Andreasson, 78, of Brattleboro, died Thursday, July 5, 2001, at his home.
Born Dec. 9, 1922, in Darmstadt, Germany, the only child of Goesta and Addi (Abel) Andreasson, he attended schools in Germany and Sweden. He came to the United States in 1939, making New York City his home.
He met his wife Marguerite (Moyse) Andreasson and they were married Nov. 25, 1950. They made New York City their home. After Mr. Andreasson's retirement they moved here, 14 years ago.
Mr. Andreasson played first violinist for 39 years in the New York Philharmonic Orchestra. He was a United States Army veteran, Private First Class in the 29th Infantry Division Band. He served from 1943-1946 and received the Good Conduct Medal, the American Theatre Service Medal, the European African Middle Eastern Service Meal with three Bronze Stars and the Victory Medal.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Marguerite; one son, Christopher Andreasson of Wilder; two daughters, Nancy Marconi of Colchester, and Kathryn Ellison of Jenson Beach, Fla.; and five grandchildren.
Burial is private and at the convenience of the family.
Memorial contributions in Mr. Andreasson's memory may be made to the World War II Memorial Fund, American Battle Monuments Commission, P.O. Box 98147, Washington, D.C. 20090-8147.

Hilda LaFountain
BENNINGTON -- Hilda Britch LaFountain, 99, a resident of Crossover Road, Bennington, died Thursday, July 6, 2001, at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Howard Davis, following a long illness.
Born April 9, 1902, in Franklin, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Flora (Turner) Messier. She received her education in the Franklin schools.
She was first married to the late Harold Britch. She later married Frank LaFountain who died in 1971.
In earlier years, Mrs. LaFountain was employed at the Hotel Putnam and later at Thomson Manufacturing.
Her home and family were her main interests. She also enjoyed working in her flower garden.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Davis of Bennington; a son, Douglas Britch of Bennington; eight grandchildren, including Branda Davis Lane of Dummerston; 14 great-grandchildren; eight great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Blanche Goodhue of Enosburg Falls; nieces, nephew, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
Mrs. LaFountain was predeceased by two sons, Stewart Britch and Ronald Britch; also by two brothers, Raleigh Messier and Watson Messier.
Graveside committal services will be held Monday, July 9, at 2 p.m. at the family lot in White Chapel Cemetery with the Rev. George D. Eberly, pastor of the First United Methodist Church, officiating.
There will be no calling hours.

Effie Mattison
BENNINGTON -- Mrs. Effie B. Mattison, 96, a long-time resident of Main Street, died Thursday, July 05, 2001, at Crescent Manor Care Centers following a long illness.
Born in Shaftsbury on Jan. 7, 1905, she was the daughter of the late Oscar and Bertha (Saunders) Cross. She received her education in the Shaftsbury schools.
She married Wallace E. Mattison Nov. 24, 1923, in Shaftsbury. Mr. Mattison died Dec. 23, 1985.
In earlier years, Mrs. Mattison was employed at the EZ Mill, Thomson Manufacturing Co. and Hoy Manufacturing Co.
Mrs. Mattison was a fan of harness racing and owned racehorses. Her home and family were her main interests. She was a member of the Taconic Grange #491 in Shaftsbury.
Survivors include her children, Barbara A. Crawford, Susanne M. Saunders, William G. Mattison, Erwin F. Mattison, all of Bennington; Wallace L. Mattison of Pownal, T. Howard Mattison of Brattleboro, Clyde A. Mattison of Hinsdale, N.H.; a sister, Marie Janssen of Bennington; 33 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Mattison was predeceased by a son, Lawrence F. Mattison in 1943, and by two sisters and seven brothers, Julia Booth, Ella Aleksonis, William Cross, Olin Cross, Burton Cross, Ezekiel Cross Sr., Oscar Cross, Earl Cross and James Cross.
The funeral will be held from the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Monday, July 9, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Deborah Trolenberg, pastor of the Shaftsbury United Methodist Church, officiating.
Friends may call at the funeral home Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. when the family will be in attendance.
Burial will take place in the family lot in Park Lawn Cemetery.

All members of Taconic Grange #491 are asked to meet at the Mahar & Son Funeral Home Sunday at 7:30 p.m. to conduct services for Mrs. Mattison.
Anaise Betsher
SPRINGFIELD, Mass. -- Anaise Ann (Blanchard) Betsher, 73, of 208 Reeds Landing, Springfield, died Sunday, July 8, 2001, at home.
Born in Bellows Falls, Vt., she was a longtime resident of Springfield and Longmeadow.
She previously worked as a secretary for Ran Testing office at Southern Bell Telephone Co. in Los Angeles, and worked as a counselor for delinquent girls in Toledo, Ohio, and a secretary for Frigidaire Division of General Motors in Dayton, Ohio.
She later worked with the Great Books program for Longmeadow students and was a swimming coach organizing AAU swim meets and preparing programs for meets held at Art Linkletter Natatorium at Springfield College. She also was a Cub Scout mother and assisted in Girl Scouts. She was a member of Christ Church Cathedral, Springfield, where she served as co-directress of its Altar Guild, chairwoman of the ushers, hospitality co-chairwoman, and a Sunday school teacher.
She leaves her husband of 54 years, Randall E. Betsher; three sons, G. Daniel Betsher of Towson, Md., and Mark R. Betsher and Scott A. Betsher, both of Springfield; two daughters, Linda C. LaMontagne of Torrington, Conn., and Barbara A. Betsher of South Boston, Mass.; a sister, Florence Thomson of Enfield, Conn.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 13, at 11 a.m. at Christ Church Cathedral.
Burial is private. Visiting hours at Hafey East Longmeadow Chapels, 120 Shaker Rd., East Longmeadow, are Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m.

Guy Brown
TOWNSHEND -- Guy C. Brown, 80, of Townshend, died Monday, July 9, 2001, at his home with his family.
He was born on May 1, 1921, a son of Bert and Phoebe (Columbus) Brown. He attended schools in Townshend and graduated from Leland & Gray Seminary in 1940.
He was in the U.S. Army and fought during World War II in France at the Battle of the Bulge.
He was a member of the American Legion Post #16, the VFW and the DAV. He worked at several jobs before going to work at the American Optical Co. in Brattleboro, where he worked for 30 years, retiring in 1981.
Mr. Brown was an avid outdoorsman and particularly enjoyed deer hunting until being forced to stop because of poor health. In his retirement, he enjoyed mowing his huge lawn and puttering around. He was fond of animals and really loved his dogs.
Mr. Brown leaves his wife of 56 years, Liliane, and two sons, Roger Brown and Danny Brown, all of Townshend; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mabel Wright of Grafton, and June Williams of Newfane; and several nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by a brother, Stanley Brown, killed in action in Italy in World War II, an older brother, Harry Brown, and a sister, Florence Aither.
Graveside services, with full military honors, will be held at the convenience of the family.

Patricia Paquin
BRATTLEBORO -- A graveside memorial service for Patricia Darling Paquin, 62, will be held at Meetinghouse Hill Cemetery in the Darling Lot on Monday, July 16, at 11 a.m.
Ms. Paquin died at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Bellville, Ill., from pneumonia and her ashes are being brought back to be buried.
She attended schools in Brattleboro and graduated from Brattleboro Union High School in 1956 and from the University of Vermont in 1960.
She married Lt. William Paquin in 1960 and was divorced in 1984.
She leaves two children, Brett Paquin of Fairview Heights, Ill., and Lynne Paquin Koertge of Santa Maria, Calif.; five grandchildren; her mother, Ethel Darling Campbell of Brattleboro; her brother, O. Leonard Darling of Lincoln, Mass.; a stepbrother, Anderson Campbell of Brattleboro; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her father, Oscar Darling, in 1950, and her sister, Grayce Darling Grant, in 1994.

LEE, Mass. -- Graveside services for Vera Goodrich, who died June 6, 2001, will be held Saturday, July 14, at noon in Fairmount Cemetery, Fuller Street, Dennis Square in Lee.

Nicholas Knevels
BRATTLEBORO -- Nicholas T. Knevels, 87, of 32 North Road, Hinsdale, N.H., died Friday morning at Eden Park Nursing Home in Brattleboro.
He was born Dec. 9, 1913, in Elizabeth, N.J., the son of Nicholas and Harriet (Long) Knevels. He attended schools in Elizabeth, and was a former resident of Linden, N.J. He had made his home in Hinsdale since 1976.
Mr. Knevels was formerly employed for 40 years at Union Carbide in Elizabeth as a supervisor.
His wife, the former Gladys Pennington, died in 1986.
He is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Adams of Hinsdale; his fiancée, Corrine "Coco" Dempsey of Hinsdale; a sister, Ann Webb of Southampton, Pa.; two grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
A son, Robert T. Knevels, died in 1955. He was also predeceased by seven brothers and four sisters.
Friends are invited to call at the O'Connor-Carr Funeral Chapel, Brattleboro Road, Hinsdale, Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in the family lot in Rosedale Cemetery in Linden.
