JACQUELINE E. HOAGUE
ST. ALBANS -- Jacqueline E. Hoague, 62, passed away early Friday, May 23, 2003, in the Fletcher Allen Health Care following a lengthy illness. She was born in Brattleboro, Vermont on Oct. 26, 1940, the daughter of the late Curtis and Joan (Spooner) Constantine.
She was a long time resident of St. Albans prior to moving to Greenfield, Mass. She moved back to St. Albans in late February were she resided on North Elm Street. Her greatest enjoyment was with her family on their weekly outings too WalMart.
Survivors include her three daughters, Lori Cortez and her husband, Jaimie of Swanton, Wendy Garey and her husband, Brian of Georgia and Heather Pearce of St. Albans; her sisters, Rosemary Siano of Greenfield, Mass., Myrna Chovanec of St. Albans, Leatrice Davis of Crestview, Fla. and Thelma Dashno and her husband, Elton of St. Albans; a brother-in-law, Larry Hoffman of Greenfield, Mass.; six grandchildren, Ian and Logan Garey, Jeremy and Justin Cortez and Ben and Luke Pearce; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Besides her parents she was predeceased by a sister, Lois Hoffman; and a special niece, Joan Furtado.
A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at 2 p.m. in the Heald Funeral Chapel, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until the time of the service.
OLIVE GREENE LOOMIS
SWANTON -- Olive Greene Loomis, 82, passed away on Tuesday, May 20, 2003, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington. She was born in St. Albans, Dec. 21, 1920, the daughter of the late Byron P. and Ethel (Howard) Greene. On Aug. 28, 1940, she married Edric A. Loomis in St. Albans.
Olive was a member of the First Baptist Church in St. Albans where she was a deacon for several years, a member of Welden Chapter 79 Order of Eastern Star, president twice for the PTA at Barlow Street School, a member of the Autonoe Club for many years, Ladies of Mt. Sinai Shriners for 18 years, and belonged to The Kings Daughters in Swanton. She also sang in the choir of the First Congregational Church, was cashier for Ben Franklin Store in St. Albans for 10 years, and was assistant librarian in Swanton for 10 years. She also assisted her husband with the Citizens Band Concerts and other special events.
Survivors include her husband of 62 years, Edric, of Swanton; their children, Ferne E. Loomis and her companion, John McDonald, of Victory, Vt., Edric (Rick) Loomis and his wife, Patricia, of Snellville, Ga., and Kevin Loomis and his wife, Louise, of Highgate; a brother, Maurice Greene, and his wife, Marjorie, of St. Albans; her grandchildren and their spouses, Scott and Darcy Townsend of Lyndonville, Vt., Gayle and Greg Lang of Pawlet, Vt., Howard and Janet Townsend of Erwin, Tenn., Tanya and Troy Rainey of Lyndonville, Vt., Stephanie and Peter Hill of Cumming, Ga., Kimberly and James Raines of Lawrenceville, Ga., Carrie and David Earley of Winder, Ga. and Barry Loomis of Brandon, Fla.; 17 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a granddaughter, Pamela Lynn Townsend Regione; and a brother, Howard Greene.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2003, at 11 a.m. in the First Baptist Church, Congress St., St. Albans, with Pastor William Simmons officiating. There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Missisquoi Valley Rescue, P.O. Box 22, Swanton, Vt. 05488. Arrangements are by the Heald Funeral Home, 87 So. Main St., St. Albans.
MARGARET RAYMOND GORDON
MILTON/RICHFORD -- Margaret Raymond Gordon, 84, of Milton and recently of Our Lady of the Meadows in Richford, died Wednesday, May 21, 2003, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.
Margaret was born at home on Oct. 4, 1918, in East Georgia to Chandler and Esther (Boudro) Raymond. She married Franklin Harold Gordon on June 15, 1938, and they moved to the Gordon Family farm on Hardscrabble Road in Milton. They had four sons who learned about hard work, love of family, and the importance of a sense of humor from their parents.
Margaret and Franklin were always together, even if it was to drive into the village to get a loaf of bread. When he died in 1979, she began a life on her own. With great courage, she bought her first car and learned to drive. She was very active with the Ladies of St. Ann's in Milton. She could always be found working in the kitchen for funeral meals and never missed folding the weekly bulletins in preparation for weekend Masses.
For the past three years, Margaret has made her home at Our Lady of the Meadows in Richford, where she was given excellent care. The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the staff at Our Lady of the Meadows for providing such loving care to Margaret.
Margaret is survived by her sons, Ronald Gordon, Sr. and wife, Carol, of Grand Isle, Melvin Gordon of Milton, Stephen Gordon and wife, Kathy, of Milton; and daughter-in-law, Jane Gordon of Milton. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Renee Perry and husband, Jim, of Fairfax, Randy and Russ Gordon of Milton, Ronald Gordon, Jr. of Sheldon, Robert and Julie Gordon of Milton, Penny Gordon of Morrisville, Becky Gordon of Grand Isle, Rick and Maria Jackson of Milton, Paula Jackson of North Hero, Amy Nanouski and husband, Chad, of Fort Collins, Colo., and Eric Gordon of Moretown; seven great-grandchildren; her sister-in-law, Margaret Raymond of St. Albans; several nieces and nephews; and many loving friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Franklin Gordon, in 1979; and by her son, Willis Gordon, in 1996; and her brothers and sisters, Carl Raymond, Charles Raymond, Walter Raymond, Loretta Pratt, Dorothy Laughlin, and Katherine Larochelle.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, May 24, 2003, at 11 a.m. in St. Ann's Catholic Church in Milton. Burial will follow in St. Ann's Cemetery.

ANNE S. DEMING
Anne S. Deming died Sunday, May 18, 2003, at Fletcher-Allen Hospital after a short illness. She was born July 29, 1926, the daughter of Isabel and John Deming of St. Albans. After graduating from Bellows Free Academy she joined the Student Nurse Corp, receiving training and subsequent certification at St. Lukes and Staten Island Marine Hospital in New York City. She then spent over 22 years in the Army Nurse Corp serving her country at military hospitals throughout this country and abroad including Japan, the Evacuation Hospital in Korea and the American Hospital in Paris.
She particularly enjoyed her professional colleagues and the foreign travel. She retired as Lieutenant Colonel in 1975 and moved back to Vermont. She built a house in Georgia to be near her parents and was able to provide care for them in their final years. Like her mother, she gave much of her time to volunteering for various agencies, including Holiday House, the Franklin County Humane Society, the Kings Daughters Home where she also served on the Board of Directors and the Women's Fellowship at the First Congregational Church.
She adored her nieces and nephew and their several children and together they formed a formidable mutual admiration society. She traveled often to various dog shows with one of her nieces, and enjoyed socializing with friends from childhood days in St. Albans and professional colleagues from her military service.
She is remembered by her family and friends for her sense of humor and as a kind, thoughtful and generous lady.
She is survived by a brother, Howard Randall Deming M.D. and his wife Ann of Cape Elizabeth, Maine; a nephew Jonathon Deming of Keeseville, N.Y.; nieces Catherine Farnsworth of South Royalton, Elizabeth Dauten of Northfield, Ill., Laura Deming of Salisbury, N.H.; and several grand-nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Franklin County Humane Society, 30 Sunset Meadows, St. Albans, Vt. 05478.
A memorial service will be held in St. Albans at a future time. Arrangements are by the Heald Funeral Home, 87 So. Main St., St. Albans.
DAVID M. YARNELL, ESQ.
ST. ALBANS -- David M. Yarnell passed away Monday morning, May 19, 2003, following a sudden illness. He was born in Burlington March 8, 1945, the son of Clyde and Rita (Hayes) Yarnell and grew up in Colchester.
David was a graduate of Rice Memorial, the University of Vermont, and the University of Maine Law School in 1970. Following graduation, he clerked for the Hon. Bernard J. Leddy, Chief U.S. District Judge, District of Vermont from 1970-1971. He then joined the law firm of Kissane Associates in St. Albans where he practiced for the next 32 years.
He was a member of the Franklin County Bar Association and its president from 1966-1997; a member of the Vermont Trial Lawyers Association and its president from 1990-1991; a member of the Vermont Bar Association Board of Managers, 1976-77; a member of the American Bar Association, the Association of Trial Lawyers of America and a Fellow of the American College of Trial Advocacy.
He was a force behind the formation of the Franklin County Bar Association Free Legal Clinic. He was also the general manager of the Hunting and Fishing League baseball team, the Tortfeasers.
The joys in David's life were his family, especially his children; his Belvidere hunting camp and surrounding woods. David was an avid gardener and his flowers were enjoyed by all his friends and family. He loved all sports, but baseball was his favorite. This life-long Red Sox fan left knowing the Sox were in first place.
David is survived by his wife of 35 years, Carolyn (Pratt) Yarnell; his mother, Rita Yarnell of Colchester; his children, Kathleen Y. Price of London, UK, Molly A. Yarnell of Bozeman, Montana, and Bryan P. Yarnell of Burlington; his sister, Patricia Yarnell of Colchester; his brother, Clyde Yarnell and his wife, Carol, of Alburg; his brother, Robert Yarnell and his wife, Wendy, of Colchester; his brother, James Yarnell and his wife, Donna, of Swanton; and his very special aunt, Sue Foley, of Shelburne. He also leaves many other aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will gather in Dave's honor on Friday at 1 p.m. in the Owl Club on the corner of Congress Street and Maiden Lane in the City of St. Albans. His family will receive friends on Thursday evening from 6 to 9 in the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main St., St. Albans.

CECILE A. MANNING
WEST GARDINER, MAINE -- Cecile A. Manning, 97 of West Gardiner, died peacefully in Jesus, May 18, 2003, at the home of her son Robert J. Manning. She was born in Frelighsburg, Quebec, Canada on Nov. 2, 1905, the daughter of Jewels and Clarise Godin and the youngest of 12 children.
Cecile was a naturalized as a United States Citizen on April 14, 1953. She was married to Andrew H. Manning on May 1, 1926. They had five children together.
She was predeceased by her husband and three children. She is survived by two sons, Robert John Manning of West Gardiner, Maine and Norman Andrew Manning of Tucson, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held Friday, May 23, 2003, at 3 p.m. at the Greenwood Cemetery in St. Albans, Vt.
Arrangements are under the care of Staples Funeral Home in Gardiner, Maine.
EMMA CUTTING
GEORGIA -- Emma Cutting, 77, a resident of this community for 40 years, died Sunday, May 18, 2003, at her home.
Emma was a homemaker who loved gardening and cooking. She also loved feeding and watching her birds.
She was born in Alburg, Jan. 12, 1926, the daughter of the late Nelson and Emma (Pearo) Mumley. On Dec. 21, 1950, she married Frank W. Cutting who predeceased her in 1999.
She leaves her son, Lester Mumley his wife Beth and their children, Lester Mumley Jr. and Deanna Mumley all of Rouses Point, N.Y.; a daughter, Barbara Gazaille and her companion Mike Olchowy of Georgia; grandsons, Stacey Gazaille of Berkshire and Chad Gazaille of Alburg; two sisters, Shirley Martin of St. Albans and Ruth Doody of Philmont, N.Y.; one brother, George Mumley of Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will be held Thursday, May 22, 2003, at 11 a.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton. Father Maurice U. Boucher, SSE, director of St. Anne's Shrine in Isle La Motte will officiate. Interment will follow in the Cutting family lot in St. Amadeus Cemetery in Alburg. Friends may call at the funeral home on Thursday morning from 10 a.m. until the hour of the funeral.

BENJAMIN T. GLIDDEN
EAST CORINTH/WHITE RIVER JCT. -- Benjamin T. Glidden, 70, of East Corinth, died Thursday at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in White River Jct., Vt.
He was born the son of George and Mary (Blodgett) Glidden May 3, 1933, in Sebec, Maine. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War and then lived in Connecticut for several years before marrying Patricia Tufts in 1984 when he moved to Corinth, where he has lived since. He worked at Upper Valley Press in Bradford for several years, retiring in 1995.
He was predeceased by his wife, Patricia Glidden (Tufts) and a stepson, Blaine Tufts, both in 2000.
He is survived by five stepsons, Brian Tufts of Wilder, Vt., Todd Tufts of Fairfax, Darren Tufts of Bradford, Douglas Tufts of Hartford, and Dean Tufts of North Windham, Conn., and one stepdaughter Brenda Tufts of South Royalton; and nine grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by three brothers, George "Hap" Glidden of Bradford, Reginald Glidden of Maine, and Hank Glidden of Texas; a sister, Leita Holden of New York; and several nieces and nephews.
Burial will be at a later date in the Oakdale Cemetery in Otisfield, Maine.
