S. WILLIAM WEBB

FAIRFAX -- S. William Webb, age 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, May 26, 2003, at his residence in Fairfax. He was born on March 4, 1913, in Birmingham, England, son of the late Samuel and Sara Jane (Brooks) Webb.

He was a graduate of BFA-Fairfax, Class of 1931, and as an accomplished trombonist, was a member of BFA 1929 Vermont State Championship Orchestra. He was also one of the original members of the Fairfax-Westford Band.

Bill married the former Marion Leach on June 3, 1939, in the Baptist Church in Fairfax. He was a lifelong farmer and maple sugar maker. He served his community as a BFA School Board member for over 20 years. He was a member of the United Church of Fairfax and was a proud Mason of Lamoille Lodge 6 F&AM of Fairfax as well as a member of OES.

In his retirement years, as a member of the Enosburg Country Club, Bill could be seen often traversing the greens and fairways of his favorite golf course. He loved his grandchildren and especially enjoyed the time spent with them throughout their growing years.

He is survived by his wife, Marion Webb, of Fairfax; four daughters, Pauline Lavallee and her husband, Paul, of Fairfax, Wanda Nichols and her husband, John, of Clarksville, Ga., Shirley Stevens of Carlsbad, Calif., and Martha Webb of Fairfax; one brother, J. Douglas Webb of Fairfax; two sisters, Ivy Ovitt and her husband, Orman, of Fairfax, and Frena Phillips and her husband, William, of Westford; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; two cousins, Arthur Webb and his wife, Margaret, of Fairfax, and Herbert Webb of Swanton. He was also predeceased by a son-in-law; and two grandchildren.

Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2003, from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Hayes-Rich Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, May 29, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Church of Fairfax, with the Reverend Elizabeth Griffin officiating. Interment will follow in the family lot in Fairfax Plains Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made in Bill's memory to Alzheimer's Assoc., VT & NH Center, 10 Ferry St., Suite 427B, Concord, N.H. 03301-5004, or American Parkinson's Disease Foundation, VT Chapter, P.O. Box 788, Milton, Vt. 05468.

Arrangements are by Hayes-Rich Funeral Home, 1176 Main St., Fairfax.

JAMES M. VINCELETTE

SWANTON/ST. ALBANS -- Mr. James M. Vincelette, age 46, was pronounced dead on arrival at the Northwestern Medical Center Monday noontime, May 26, 2003. He was born in St. Albans Dec. 24, 1956, son of Jeanne (Perron) Vincelette and the late Robert Vincelette.

He was a 1976 graduate of Bellows Free Academy. Jim was employed in construction and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and woodworking. Jim had been a member of the Sons of the American Legion.

Jim is survived by his mother, Jeanne Vincelette, of St. Albans; brothers and sisters and their spouses, Mark and Lorrie Vincelette of Fletcher, Jeffrey and Karen Vincelette of St. Albans, Janet and Ronald Bonnette of St. Albans, Michael and Linda Vincelette of Las Vegas, Nev., Vicky Vincelette Popple of Las Vegas, Nev.; a brother-in-law, Maurice and his wife, Kathy Remillard, of St. Albans; special friends, Michael Allard and his family of St. Albans, and Charles Richard; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Robert Vincelette, March 24, 1990; and his sister, Marsha Remillard Oct. 8, 1992.

James was a loving and caring person who would do anything he could for anybody. Jim was always helpful and was deeply loved by his family, especially his nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, St. Albans. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., from 7 to 9 Thursday evening. Interment will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

HELEN M. LAMPMAN

ST. ALBANS -- Mrs. Helen M. Lampman, age 79, was found dead in her apartment, Tuesday, May 27, 2003, on Federal Street. Helen was born in Newport, Sept. 6, 1923, daughter of the late Albert and Mary Pearl (Demar) Champaine.

She was an employee of the George Yett Bag Co., and was an avid bingo player. She was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary Unit 758.

Helen is survived by her daughters, Shirley Nolan of St. Albans and Gloria Balser of Lowell, Mass.; a sister-in-law, Shirley Champaine of St. Albans; five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husbands, Harold "Red" Lapan, and Cleon M. Lampman; her brother, Leo Champaine; son-in-law, Robert Nolan, May 14, 2003; her grandson, Robert Nolan Jr., Nov. 7, 1993; her mother in 1974, and her father in 1957.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday at 2 p.m. in Holy Angels Church. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., from 7 to 9 Thursday evening. Interment will be in the Lampman/Lapan family lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Memorials may be made to the Hospice Program of the Franklin County Home Health Agency, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, Vt. 05478.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

ARTHUR D. PIXLEY

ST. ALBANS -- Arthur D. Pixley, 67, a resident of this area since 1974, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, May 24, 2003, at Northwestern Medical Center. He was born in Strafford, Vermont on June 1, 1935, the son of the late Grover and Alice (Harvey) Pixley.

Arthur was attending the Church of the Rock, and was a member of the Franklin County Humane Society, and the Greyhound Rescue League of St. Albans. He enjoyed playing horseshoes, listening to country music, spending time with dogs and cats, and was an avid people watcher.

Survivors include two brothers, Edward Pixley of Randolph and Marvin Pixley of Strafford; two sisters, Isabel Spencer of Randolph and Ruth Lewis of Lebanon, N.H.; his many dear friends from St. Albans, Robert and Deb Martel, with whom he made his home, Adam and Matthew Martel, Sheree and Heath Martel, Hazen and Gabrielle Martel, Louise Beaudoin, Marybeth Blakeney, Mike Walker, and Polly Percibel; also several nieces and nephews.

A service of remembrance celebrating Arthur's life will be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2003, at 10 a.m. in the Church of the Rock on Route 104.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Franklin County Humane Society, 30 Sunset Drive, St. Albans, Vt. 05478.

WAYNE EVERETT DEROSIA, SR.

ALBURG -- Everett Derosia, Sr., 70, a resident of this community for the past several years died unexpectedly Friday afternoon, May 16, 2003, in the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.

Everett was born in Highgate on July 26, 1932, the son of the late Leo and Dorothy (Bell) Derosia. He attended elementary school in Highgate.

Everett served his country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was awarded several United States Army medals and citations of honor during his tour of duty. Everett was associated with heavy equipment during most of his work career. He served as Commander of the American Legion, Creller-Landon Post 60 in Alburg in 1988 and was life member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Morrisville. He was also member of the Eagles and Moose. He was a person who had a great love for being outdoors, especially fishing, deer hunting and gardening.

Everett was very involved in the community and will be sadly missed.

He leaves four sons, Wayne E. Derosia and his wife Annala, Leo A. Derosia and his wife Debbie, Joseph W. Derosia and Stephen A. Derosia all of New Hampshire; one brother, Roger of Highgate; and three sisters, Annette Connelly of New Hampshire, Myrna Hoanvl of New York and Beverly Morris of New York; several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Everett was predeceased by three brothers and two sisters.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, May 27, 2003, at 7 p.m. from The Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton. Father Maurice U. Boucher, SSE, director of St. Anne's Shrine in Isle La Motte will officiate. Interment will follow in the Vermont Veterans Cemetery in Randolph at 12 noon on Wednesday, May 28, 2003. Friends may call at the funeral home on Tuesday, May 27, 2003, from 5 p.m. until the hour of the funeral.

Gifts in Everett's memory may be made to the Alburg Volunteer Fire and Rescue, Inc. P.O. Box 223, Alburg, Vt. 05440, or the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 485, Williston Vt. 05495.

CHARLES ASHTON McCUIN

ENGLEWOOD, Fla. -- Charles Ashton McCuin passed away peacefully Sunday morning, May 11, 2003, at his home in Englewood, Fla. He was born in Highgate Center, Jan. 7, 1917, the son of the late Owen C. McCuin Sr., and Ella (Edwards) McCuin. He was a graduate of the University of Vermont and an honorably discharged veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Force as a flight navigator. He retired as a territory representative from the Butler Manufacturing Company in 1982.

After retirement he and his wife, Glenna, moved from their home in Champion, N.Y. They spent summers at their cottage in Alburg on Lake Champlain and wintered in Englewood, Fla., eventually residing there year round. Chuck loved to play tennis and played with the Tringalli Tennis Tyros until his health began to fail in October of 2002. He enjoyed competing in the Senior Games and showed great pride in receiving medals in the singles, doubles, and mixed categories, He was also a member of the North Port writing group for 13 years. He immensely enjoyed compiling the writings for the group and the fellowship shared. When Chuck was 80 years old he traveled with his three children, and five of his grandchildren, to Ungava Bay, Quebec. While there he caught a 14-pound lake trout, his biggest fish ever, and bagged a beautiful stag caribou.

Besides his wife Glenna of 36 years, he is survived by two sons, Charles O. McCuin and his wife Nicha of Pittsford, and Sherrill A. "Sam" McCuin and his wife Ruth of Georgia; and a daughter, Betsy Pakeman and her husband Bill of Ontario; four step-sons, Duane Wells and his wife Carol of Montpelier, Dale Wells and his wife Judy of St. Johnsbury, David Wells of Highgate Center, and Douglas Wells and his wife Barbara of Greenwich, Conn. He is also survived by 22 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his stepdaughter, Kathleen Staplin in 1995, two brothers, Realtus McCuin in 1982 and Owen C. McCuin Jr. in March 2003.

A Memorial Service will be held at 7 p.m. May 30 at the Georgia United Methodist Church, Route 7, Georgia Center, with the Reverend Richard Dickey officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in the Belvidere Cemetery, Belvidere, Vt., where the McCuin family originally settled after arriving from Scotland via Canada.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army, 225 Lake St., St. Albans, Vt. 05478.

WALTER N. BOMBARD

ST. ALBANS/VENICE, Fla. -- Mr. Walter N. Bombard, age 81, died Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003, in the Bon Secours-Venice, Fla. Hospital, following a brief illness. Walter was born in St. Albans May 6, 1921, son of the late Carl and Sadie (Peters) Bombard.

Walter graduated from Bellows Free Academy. He served in the U.S. Navy as a Motor Machinist 1st Mate during World War II. Most of his life he was a locomotive engineer for the Central Vermont Railway, until his retirement in 1980. He was a lifelong communicant of Holy Angels Church and a member of the Masonic Lodge, 4, F&AM, the American Legion, Post 1, VFW Post 758, Disabled American Veterans, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers and the Central Vermont Veterans Association. Walter was an avid fisherman.

On April 16, 1949, he married Shirley Stark. Besides his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Jill Thoren of Iverness, Fla.; two sons, Wayne and his wife France Bombard of Freemont, Calif., and John Bombard and his friend Manjula Leggett of South Burlington; a sisters, Evelyn and her husband Gordon Cassavoy of Watertown, Conn.; seven grandchildren, Sarah Smoot, Katie Adams, Kimberly Thoren, Matthew Thoren, Benjamin Bombard, Sadie Bombard and Samuel Bombard; three great-grandchildren; two nieces; a nephew; and his beloved cat, "Toby." Besides his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Willard Bombard, in 1979.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 2 p.m. Thursday, May 29, 2003, in Holy Angels Church. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be in the Bombard family lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery.

Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.

MAURICE FRANCIS STURGEON

MONTPELIER -- Maurice Francis Sturgeon, age 60, died Saturday, May 24, 2003, at his home on Charles Street. He was born March 4, 1943, in Colchester, the son of the late Stuart and Nina (Preston) Sturgeon.

He was a resident of Montpelier for the past 17 years and was a former resident of Waterbury and Franklin County. He had been employed as a farm hand in the Franklin County area and as a janitor in the Washington County area. He enjoyed reading poetry and playing BINGO.

He is survived by his long time companion, Ann Pulsifer of Montpelier; a brother and his wife, Eugene and Shirley Sturgeon of Enosburg Falls; Eva Elliot of Troy; and several nieces and nephews.

A Memorial Service will be held Wednesday morning, June 4, 2003, at 10 at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls, with Pastor Patrick Hoadley officiating. Interment will follow in the Georgia Plains Cemetery.

Friends and relatives may call on the family the day of the funeral from 9 a.m. until the hour of the funeral at the funeral home.
