GLORIA B. LAROE
ST. ALBANS/SWANTON -- Mrs. Gloria B. Laroe, age 66, died Wednesday morning, April 16, 2003, at her home. She was born April 24, 1936, daughter of the late Arthur and Lillian (Toni) Robillard, in Niagara Falls, N.Y. Gloria married Carlton Z. Laroe Sept. 8, 1951, and he predeceased her June 4, 1994. She will be remembered as a longtime member of the waitstaff of the former Cornerstone Restaurant.
She is survived by four daughters and their husbands, Gail and Charles Stypick of Colchester, Carla and Robert Blystone of Washington, Cathy and Richard Stypick of New York, Vicky and Dennis Delong of New York; her four sons, Carl and Pattie Laroe of Georgia, Jeff and Dawn Laroe of St. Albans, Paul and Lisa Laroe of St. Albans, and Chad Laroe of Swanton; three sisters, Shirley and Don Searle of Florida, June and Stanley Laroe of New York, and Carol and Al McDonald of New York; 19 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Eddy Robillard and Arthur Robillard Jr. and two sisters, Grace Gratto-Taccamine and Delores Figler.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, April 22, 2003, at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Church. Interment will follow in the Laroe family lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Franklin County Home Health Agency, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, Vt. 05478.

BERTHA A. GRENIER
MILTON -- Bertha A. Grenier, 70, died Tuesday evening April 15, 2003, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington following a long illness. Bertha was born in Lyndonville on Feb. 5, 1933, the daughter of Albert and Nathalie (Carr) Tobin.
She received her education in the Cambridge school system, graduating as Valedictorian of the Cambridge High School Class of 1950. Bertha married Homer J. Grenier on October 24, 1953. She was a former member of the Milton Grange 522 and of the Arrowhead Seniors. Bertha enjoyed teaching and caring for children, spending over 40 years as a day care provider. She will be fondly remembered by all the children she cared for.
She is survived by her two daughters, Beverly Brown and her husband Robert of Idaho, and Lisa Lavalette of Milton and her boyfriend Stacy Hill. She is also survived by her sister Margaret Woodard and her husband Paul of Waterville, her brothers Walter Tobin and his wife Joan of Waterville, Robert Tobin and his wife Donna of Cambridge, Arthur Tobin and his wife Melody of Cambridge and Albert Tobin Jr. and his wife Marlene of Waterville. By her adopted family, the Brusoes of St. Albans, her friends, Dawn and Lindsay Koch and Lauren Ball, several nieces and nephews, and her beloved cat and companion Fluffy. Mrs. Grenier was predeceased by her husband Homer in 1992 and her son-in-law Brian Lavalette in 2000. Mom we love you very much. You will always be in our thoughts and in our hearts. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, April 19, 2003, at 11 a.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton. Burial will be in St. Ann's Cemetery.

ARTHUR PAUL CUMMINGS
RICHFORD -- Arthur Paul Cummings, age 54, passed away Tuesday morning, April 15, 2003, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans. He was born April 29, 1948, in St. Albans, the son of Germaine (Mayhew) Cummings and the late Melzer Cummings.
Art was a graduate of St. Joseph Catholic School in North Adams, Mass. He served in the U.S. Navy for four years on the USS Forrestall Air Craft Carrier. He moved to Richford in 1976 and worked for 12 years at the family store in Richford. He also worked at Blue Seal from 1989 to 2000. He volunteered on the Richford Ambulance Service for many years and was a life member of the American Legion Post 12 of Richford, and a member of All Saints Catholic Church. Art was a life long racing fan and never missed a race.
He is survived by his mother, Germaine Cummings, of Richford; his brothers, Larry Cummings and his wife, Margie, of Montgomery Center, Herbert Cummings and his wife, Toni, of Griswold, Conn. and Brian Cummings and his fiancée, Robin Belanger, of Westford; several nieces and nephews, Aaron Cummings and his wife, Beth, and Amy Greenia and her husband, Ronald, Jill Cummings and her companion Jonathan Betts, Chris Cummings and his wife, Jessica, Jennifer Cummings, Angela Cummings, Anthony Cummings and Brian Cox; and several great-nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his father, Melzer Cummings in 1982.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 21, 2003, at 11 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church in Richford with Reverend Frank Eksterowicz celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Visiting hours will be held Sunday afternoon from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Spears Funeral Home, 140 Main St., Richford.

GEORGINA (INA) ULSH
BURLINGTON, ONTARIO -- Georgina (Ina) Ulsh passed away peacefully in Burlington, Ontario on March 7, 2003. Georgina Ulsh (nee Ogilvie) of Montreal, beloved wife of Charlie Ulsh.
Georgina was the loved mother of John Ulsh and his wife, Tammy, Sandra and her husband, John Pearce, and Susan Ulsh; dear grandmother of Kalin, Brendon, Michael, Randy and Kyla; dear sister of Pat Maltby and Norma Barnes; predeceased by sisters Betty, Martha, and Molly and a brother, Johnny. She is survived by many loving nieces and nephews. A very special thanks to the Dorrance Family for their care and support.
There will be a private cremation for Georgina.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the charity of your choice would be appreciated by the family.
Interment of the ashes will take place on April 26, 2003, at 1 p.m. at Montreal Memorial Gardens, (Urgel Bourgie) 3955 Cote de Liesse.
MATTIE MILDRED GRANDCHAMP
ST. ALBANS CITY/HIGHGATE SPRINGS -- Mattie Mildred Grandchamp, 71, a native of Highgate Springs and more recently a resident of 251 Lake Street, St. Albans City, died Sunday evening, April 13, 2003, in the Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in Burlington.
Mattie was born in Highgate Springs, July 25, 1931, the daughter of the late Hobart and Angie (Partlow) Maskell. She attended Highgate High School and on, July 27, 1949, married Ronald Edward Grandchamp, Sr. who predeceased her, April 2, 1992.
In earlier years Mattie had been associated with the Softlite Company in Swanton, Champlain Cable in Winooski and the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans. She has been a longtime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Charles DaPrato Post 778 and American Legion Ladies Auxiliaries both in Swanton.
Mattie is survived by two daughters, Donna Drake of Swanton and Deborah Robtoy and her husband, John, of Alburg; and three sons, Bruce, Brian and Lonney Grandchamp all of Highgate Springs; one sister, Anna Green and her husband, Joe, of New Mexico; and two brothers, Cassius Maskell and his wife, Maddie, and Hobart Maskell and his wife, Betty, all of Highgate Springs. She also leaves 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren, as well as a close and very special friend, Bea of St. Albans; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Ronald Edward Grandchamp, Jr. on, Oct. 19, 1975; and two brothers, Sonny and Vincent Maskell.
Funeral Services will be held Friday, April 18, 2003, at 11 a.m. from the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton. The Reverend Marcheta Townsend, pastor of the Highgate United Methodist Church will officiate. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the Kidder Memorial Home, Thursday, April 17, 2003, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

DONALD GABRIEL TRAHAN, SR.
WEST SWANTON/ST. ALBANS -- Donald Gabriel Trahan, Sr., 64, a longtime Swanton and St. Albans resident died Friday morning, April 11, 2003 in the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans City.
He was born in Burlington, March 20, 1939, the son of Gabriel Trahan and the late Yvonne (LeBlanc) Trahan. He graduated from the former Saint Anne's Academy in Swanton and on Jan. 30, 1960, married the former Theresa Lemoine who predeceased him, April 24, 2000.
Donald was well known as a sales associate with Handy Pontiac-Cadillac-BuickGMC Truck, Inc. for nearly 30 years. Over the years he has also been very involved with the Franklin County Field Days and served as a director and will be remembered for winning many blue ribbons for his beautiful marigolds.
He also was a member and secretary-treasurer for the Trans-Border Antique Tractor Club and organized many tractor pull contests throughout Vermont and Canada. A member of the Swanton Chamber of Commerce in his earlier years, he was active in the Swanton Summer Festival Committee. He was well known for his support of the local Vermont farming community.
He will always be remembered as an avid ice fisherman, hunter and gardener and for his love of harness racing and snowmobiling.
Donald leaves his father, Gabriel Trahan and his wife, Jeannine, of Trois Rivieres, Quebec Canada; a son and daughter-in-law, Donald Jr. and Susan Trahan of Colchester, four daughters and three sons-in-law, Claire and Ken Smith of Burlington, Paula and David White of Colchester, June and Keith Mumley of West Swanton and Marcia Trahan and her partner, Andy Greene, of Burlington; eight grandchildren, Andrew and Allison White of Colchester, Nicole and Olivia Frascino of Burlington, Maxwell and Spencer Trahan of Colchester and Jordan and Quinn Mumley of West Swanton; four brothers, Maurice "P2" Trahan and his wife, Francine, of Swanton, Clement Trahan of Thailand, Stephen Trahan and his wife, Lise, of St. Albans and Gabriel Trahan and his wife, Carmen, of Georgia; four sisters, Jacqueline Trahan of Peru, N.Y., Patricia Reid of Burlington, Carmen Crepeau and her husband, John, of St. Albans, and Denise Luneau of Sheldon; his brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marie Trahan of Swanton, Clarence Lemoine of Swanton, Harold and Rita Lemoine of Swanton, Lucille Tatro of Rutland, Irene Martin of Swanton, Doris and Hubert Paquette of Swanton, and Beverly Lemoine of Swanton, as well as and many nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his mother Yvonne (LeBlanc) Trahan in 1983 and his brother, Richard Trahan in 1977.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, April 15, 2003, at 11 a.m. from The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 65 Canada St., Swanton.
The pastor, Father John J. Meagher, SSE will be the celebrant and homilist. Interment will follow in the Trahan family lot in St. Mary's Cemetery. Friends called at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Ave., Swanton Sunday, April 13, 2003, from 2 to 4 p.m. and will do so again today, Monday, April 14, 2003, from 7 to 9 p.m. Gifts in Donald's memory may be made to the Farmers Emergency Fund, in care of, The St. Albans Co-operative Creamery Inc., 140 Federal St., St. Albans, Vt. 05478.
DANA L. COLLINS
SOUTH HERO/GRAND ISLE-- Dana L. Collins, 49, died Friday April 11, 2003 at the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington following a long illness.
Dana was born on August 3, 1953 in Burlington, the son of Andrew and Patricia ( Parrott ) Collins.
He spent his childhood in South Hero, Vt. As a young man he raised his family in Grand Isle. Dana was a salesman for the F.W. Webb Company for over 20 years. He was an avid hunter, fisherman, and a great lover of the outdoors.
Dana is survived by his sons, Andy Collins and his fiancée, Angie Bostwick, of Grand Isle and granddaughters McKayla, Abigail, and Madison; Lee Collins and his girlfriend Lisa Langlois of Georgia, and by his daughter Beth Collins of Grand Isle. He is also survived by the mother of his children, Vicki Collins, his mother, Patricia Collins, and his brother Thomas Collins of Winooski and by many friends and family members. He was predeceased by his father, Andrew, in 1989.
A Funeral Service will be held Monday evening, April 14, at 7 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton. Friends may call on the family Monday prior to the service from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.

GRAYDON S. MAJOR, JR.
SHELDON -- Mr. Graydon S. Major, Jr., age 60, died at his home Friday, April 11, 2003. He was born in St. Albans, July 7, 1942, son of the late Graydon S. Major Sr., and Lillian (Hakey) Major.
He worked most of his life in construction for local contractors. He also operated Gray's Rubbish Removal with his father, and Graydon's Trucking Company.
He served in the Vermont National Guard and was a member of the American Legion Post #1.
He is survived by his son Graydon "Ed" Major of Enosburg; his two daughters, April Major of Hillsboro, N.H., and Aimee Hawkins and her husband, Anthony, of St. Albans; and five grandchildren, Edward and Kristen Major, Jeremy Brunette, Moriah and Shelby Hawkins. He was pre-deceased by his parents.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 17, 2003 at 11 a.m. in the Brady & Levesque Funeral Chapel. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 S. Main St., from 10 a.m. until the time of the funeral. Interment will follow in the Major family lot in Mount Calvary Cemetery. Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.
