ERNEST "BOB" SOULIERE
ST. ALBANS/MONTREAL -- Mr. Bob Souliere, age 85, died Saturday morning, March 1, 2003, in Our Lady of the Meadows Care Home in Richford after a brief illness. Bob, as he was known to everyone, was born and baptized in St. Albans as Nelson Ernest Arthur Souliere, Jan. 4, 1918, son of the late Arthur A. and Adelaide (L'Ecuyer) Souliere.
Bob served in the U.S. Air Force in Military Intelligence during World War II. Following his military career, he served the Canadian Railway as a public affairs officer, for over 41 years, in both New York City and in Montreal, Quebec. He retired Feb. 8, 1978. He maintained a dual citizenship and lived in Montreal for several years. Bob was a member of The International Playboy Club, St. Jean the Baptiste Society, American Legion Post 1, and the Central Vermont Veterans Association.
Bob is survived by several cousins and special friends, including Bob White, Donald and Jeanne Poirier, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Soulikan. He was predeceased by his parents, and sisters, Marguerite, Ernestine, Lorraine and Lorretta Souliere.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Church. There will be no public calling hours.
Interment will be later this spring in the Souliere/L'Ecuyer family lot in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.
DONALD B. CONSTANTINE
ST. ALBANS -- Donald B. Constantine, age 55, died Thursday, Feb. 27, 2003, at his residence, following a brief illness. He was born in St. Albans March 3, 1947, son of the late Frederick and Marion (DeVarney) Constantine.
Donny served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam era and was employed by C & S Construction. Donny loved fishing and hunting and being with his friends.
His survivors include his sons, Scott Constantine, Shane and his wife, Buffy Constantine; and a granddaughter, Brooke Keppler, all of South Burlington; his sister-in-law, Sally Constantine of St. Albans; a niece, and several nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his brother Howard on Aug. 2, 1991.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in the Brady & Levesque Chapel. Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the funeral time at the funeral home, 86 South Main St., St. Albans. Interment will be this spring in the Constantine family lot in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Arrangements are entrusted to the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home.
LAWRENCE JAMES PLOUFFE
BURLINGTON -- Lawrence James Plouffe, age 57 of Burlington, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Feb. 23, 2003, at the Star Farm Nursing Home, following a brief illness. Born in Burlington on Oct. 10, 1945, he was the son of the late Romuald and Geraldine Plouffe.
A graduate of Bellows Free Academy High School in St. Albans, he had taken various courses with local colleges. Mr. Plouffe had worked for several area businesses over the years including GE and IBM.
He is survived by his loving daughter, Crystal Richard and her two children of Burlington. He also leaves a brother, Robert Plouffe, and his wife Sharon of Colchester, as well as many friends and relatives who mourn his passing.
Services will be private.
Arrangements are in care of National Cremation Service in Middlebury.
MARJORIE C. BRESSETTE
CHERRY VALLEY, Ill. -- Marjorie C. Bressette, 74, of Cherry Valley, Ill., died at 12:26 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 13, 2003, in Kindred Hospital, Sycamore, after a sudden illness. Born on March 2, 1928, in St. Albans, Marjorie was the daughter of William F. and Grace E. (Greene) Cline.
Marjorie lived in the Rockford area for more than 33 years, coming from St. Albans, Vt.. She married Raymond C. Bressette in Camp Pickett, Va. on June 1, 1951. Marjorie worked for Colonial Bank as an administrative secretary until she retired at the age of 65.
Survivors include her son, Michael Bressette; grandchildren, Anthony M. and Louis C. Bressette; sisters, Florence Powers of St. Albans, and Dorothy Wise of Brea, Calif. She was predeceased by her husband, and brother.
Memorial services were held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 18, in Fitzgerald & Associates, Mulford Chapel, 1860 S. Mulford Road, with the Reverend Dr. William R. Kerr Sr. officiating. Visitation was from 6 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday at the Funeral Home.
Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
JOSEPH J. D'AMICO JR.
ST. ALBANS -- Mr. Joseph J. D'Amico Jr. age 81, died Monday morning, April 28, 2003, in the Northwestern Medical Center following a brief illness. He was born in Buffalo, N.Y., April 23, 1922, son of the late Joseph J. and Sarah (Barone) D'Amico.
Joe attended Canisius College in Buffalo where he earned a football scholarship. Joseph then joined the U.S. Army, serving in Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Central Europe.
Following his military career he entered the Order of St. Benedict at Mount Angel Seminary. He served as a Brother at Mount Angel, Oregon, for many years, Fondly remembered as "Mr. D., " he was a school bus driver for the St. Albans City and St. Albans Town for over 20 years. He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church.
He married Lorraine Laferriere on June 15, 1974. Besides his wife, Lorraine, he is survived by their two children, Jonathan A. D'Amico and Marie C. D'Amico, both of Alexandria, Va. Also surviving are his brothers and sisters, Eleanor D. Alessi of Glendale, Calif., Lena D. Pulvino of Grand Island, N.Y., Louis and his wife, Marian D'Amico of Gowanda, N.Y., Michael and his wife, Christine D'Amico of Encino, Calif., Theresa "Tessie" Galante of Grand Island, N.Y., sister-in-law Claire and her husband, David Duke of Barre, brother-in-law Leo and his wife, Liz Laferriere of Waitsfield; and several nieces and nephews. Besides his parents he was predeceased by his sisters, Dorothy Decker and Marie Gimbrone.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. in St. Mary's Church. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., from 7 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday. Interment will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in Maplewood Cemetery, in Barre.

THERESA ANN STANHOPE
BERKSHIRE -- Theresa Ann Stanhope, 69, passed away Friday, April 25, 2003, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington. She was born in Sheldon on Jan. 5, 1934, a daughter of the late Wilfred and Lucille (Messier) Minckler.
Theresa was a 1952 graduate of Enosburg Falls High School. She married Spencer Stanhope in October of 1963, and he predeceased her on Aug. 1, 1996.
Theresa was very much loved and will be missed greatly by all that knew her. The love for her was proof in the words of her son-in-law, Tim Stebbins: "Theresa came into this world with her family around her and passed away the same way."
She is survived by: two sons and their wives Tommy and Peggy Gleason of Berkshire, and Tim and Tina Stanhope, who live on the family farm in Berkshire; two daughters and their husbands, Tammy and Tim Stebbins of Sheldon, and Sandra and Tim Kane of Berkshire; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She also leaves two sisters, Audrey Jewett of St. Albans and Marie Raymond and her husband, Ralph, of Sheldon; one brother and his wife, Wilfred and Rita Minckler of Sheldon; a sister-in-law, Pauline Minckler of Sheldon; a brother-in-law, Laurel "Buzz" Kittell of Sheldon; and several nieces and nephews. Theresa also leaves her best friend and beloved dog, Bentley. Beside her husband, she was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Douglas Farrar in 1985.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 2 p.m. in St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Sheldon with Rev. Bernard Bechard celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in the Berkshire Center Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.

ELMA M. BENOIT
ENOSBURG FALLS -- Elma M. Benoit, age 94, died peacefully Friday, April 25, 2003, at the home she had loved for 30 years. She was born in Sheldon, June 20, 1908, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Ella (Girard) Myott.
On Sept. 20, 1930, she married Harland Benoit, and they celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary in 1990. Harland predeceased her on Sept. 9, 1992. Elma and Harland ran the family farm for 30 years, where she was in charge of the milkroom, raised the calves and ran the syrup business. They won the soil conservation award for 1966 and received the century farm award. Last year, Elma represented the class of 1927 at the EFHS reunion.
She was a 60-year member of the Tyler Branch Grange 498, holding the offices of lecturer and chaplin. She was also a lifetime member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and the Ladies of St. Anne's Society.
She was proud of her flowers and garden -- giving most of the produce away -- and played cards at least once weekly.
She is survived by: her three sons and their wives, Robert and Jean Benoit of Blacksburg, Va., Paul and Sally Benoit of East Hartford, Conn. and Larry and Sandy Benoit of Enosburg; seven grandchildren, Beth of Chelmsford, Mass., Denise of Knoxsville, Md., Paul of Fayettville, Ark., Betsey of Wethersfield, Conn., Nickelle of Miami, Fla., Carmen of Virginia Beach, Va., Megan of Lawrenceville, Ga.; five great-grandchildren; her sister, Ella-Mae Rotella of South Burlington; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by: two brothers, B. Frank Myott and Lawrence Myott; three sisters, Ruth Seaver, Hortense Sorrell and Doris Mazza; and a stepbrother, Guilford King.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 6, 2003, at 11 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, with Rev. Benedict Kiely celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held Monday, May 5, from 6 to 9 p.m. at Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.

GEORGE T. HART
SOUTH BURLINGTON -- George T. Hart of 22 Iby St., South Burlington, passed away April 26, 2003, after a short illness. Mr. Hart was born in Rutland Town in 1917, a son of Tyler G. Hart and Elizabeth K. Hart.
He attended Rutland public schools and graduated from the Vermont School of Agriculture in 1935 and the University of Vermont in 1940.
He was a well-known athlete, playing varsity baseball, football and basketball in high school and college. He played baseball for Rutland in the Old Northern League. He was a high school teacher at Craftsbury Academy and Greensboro before World War II.
He was married to Charlotte E. Donaldson of Barre in 1941, who survives him. He served in the Infantry and U.S. Air Force in World War II and retired as a lieutenant colonel, USAF. After the war, he worked for the U.S. Soil Conservation Service, establishing the Windham County Soil Conservation District.
He came to Burlington in 1957 as district director for the U.S. Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Service. In 1978, he was appointed state executive director for A.S.C.S., directing activities in the 14 Vermont counties. He retired in 1982.
Mr. Hart was well-known throughout the state as a practicing conservationist and certified American tree farmer. He owned and operated extensive acreage in Chittenden County.
He was chairman of the Winooski Natural Resource Conservation District and executive reservist food specialist with the Federated Emergency Management Agency. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Burlington; Elks Lodge 916, Burlington; Brattleboro Lodge of Masons, American Legion Post 14, Vergennes; Retired Officers Association, and several civic committees in Brattleboro and South Burlington.
Besides his wife, Charlotte, he is survived by: two sons, Thomas G. and his wife, Chicako, and James Tyler and his wife, Kathy; three granddaughters, Christina, Tara and Brandi; and two great-granddaughters, Chelsea and Rebecca. He was predeceased by two sons, Peter D. Hart in 1999 and Stephen J. Hart in 1991.
Interment will be held in Lakeview Cemetery in Burlington. Contributions may be made to The Salvation Army. There will no viewing hours.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 1, in the Corbin and Palmer Funeral Home, 71 S. Union St., Burlington.
