CARLTON E. BRITCH
ESSEX JUNCTION - Carlton E. Britch, 79, a longtime resident of Essex Junction, died suddenly on Friday, Sept. 13, 2002, at Fletcher Allen Health Care.
He was born in Bakersfield, July 14, 1923, the son of the late George and Mary (King) Britch. He served in the Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict. Carlton married Annabelle Foote who predeceased her husband on Feb. 27, 1984.
Carl had been employed as a service man for Vermont Gas Company for 31 years prior to his retirement. He loved people, good conversation and was well known for his practical jokes and his dry sense of humor. He greatly enjoyed fiddlers' contest and would travel great distances to attend them.
He is survived by his faithful companion of 10 years, Doris Lamphere of Hinesburg; his daughter, Deborah Jerome and husband Richard of Essex Junction; his son, Daniel Britch, also of Essex Junction; grandson Eric Merriman and his partner, Melissa Gardner of Colchester; great granddaughter, Raegan Merriman; and his two sisters, June Rushford and Sylvia Brouillette, both of West Enosburg; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his infant daughter, Judy Britch, and his brother Robert Britch.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of Corbin & Palmer Funeral Home, 9 Pleasant St., Essex Junction. Burial will military honors will be in Fairview Cemetery, Essex Junction.
Visiting hours are today, at the funeral home, from 5 to 8 p.m. the family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Vermont Kidney Association, P.O. Box 244, Burlington, Vt. 05402-0244 in memory of his wife, Annabelle.
CLARENCE H. HURTEAU
GEORGIA - Clarence H. Hurteau, 78, died Sunday, Sept. 15, 2002, at Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.
At Clarence's request, there will not be any visiting hours. A family graveside service will be held at a later date.
Clarence's family has requested that in lieu of flowers, cards, food or gifts, memorials in his memory may be made to the Franklin County Humane Society, 30 Sunset Circle, St. Albans, Vt. 05478. Arrangements were by the Minor Funeral Home in Milton.
BARBARA JEAN LaBOMBARD
ISLE LA MOTTE -- Mrs. Barbara Jean LaBombard, 69, a lifelong resident of this community died late Monday evening, Sept. 9, 2002, in her Church Street home.
Barbara was born in Isle La Motte, Nov. 5, 1933, the daughter of the late Lawrence L. "Ted" Jarvis and Olivia (Langlois) Jarvis. She graduated from St. Anne's Academy in Swanton and on Nov. 11, 1950, was married to Llewellyn A. LaBombard who survives her.
Together, Barbara and Llewellyn operated a dairy farm on the Island raising six children. Their eldest child, Carol Anne Stefaniak, predeceased her on Sept. 2, 1991. Barbara was a lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph's Roman Catholic Mission in Isle La Motte.
In addition to her husband Llewellyn of Isle La Motte, she also leaves her mother, Mrs. Olivia Jarvis, age 93, residing at Giordano Manor in Swanton; three daughters, Brenda Thibault, Susan Fournier and her husband Earl, and Kathy Fournier and her husband Roy all of Swanton; two sons, Larry LaBombard of Isle La Motte and Timothy LaBombard and his wife Renee of Essex Junction; one sister, Janet Hatin of North Hero; 11 grandchildren; and one great-grandson, Caleb; and one great-granddaughter, Taylor; as well as several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2002, at 11 a.m. from the Chapel of St. Anne's Shrine in Isle La Motte. The shrine director, Father Maurice U. Boucher, will be the celebrant and homilist. Interment will follow in the LaBombard family lot in St. Joseph's Mission Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Kidder Memorial Home, 89 Grand Avenue, Swanton, on Monday, Sept. 16, 2002, from 4 to 7 p.m.

LINDEN R. CHASE
ST. ALBANS -- Linden Ralph Chase, age 67, died Wednesday, Sept. 11, 2002, at home, following an extended illness, surrounded by his family. He was born in Windsor, Conn. Dec. 19, 1934, the son of Ralph D. Chase and Elsie Coan Chase.
Lin is survived by his wife, Joyce Hammonds Chase; his sons Ian Chase and Sean Chase of St. Albans; his daughter, Lisa Bernadino of Hardwick; his sisters, Alison Rauchle of Windsor, Conn.; seven grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren also survive him. Lin was predeceased by one son, Jay Chase.
Lin graduated from Windsor High School and took his bachelors degree from Goddard College. Lin taught HeadStart, worked for Kamen Aircraft in Connecticut and the Johnson Talc Mine. He last worked as chief for Maple Grove Rest Home in Waterville. Lin served in the Army during the Korean War. During retirement, he enjoyed caring for his children, cooking, antiquing, and yard sales.
A memorial service will be held at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in St. Albans Tuesday evening, Sept. 17, at 6:30 p.m. Interment of his cremains will be in Palisado Cemetery in Windsor, Conn. on Oct. 11, 2002, at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make expressions of sympathy are asked to consider donations in his memory to any of the following organizations: Franklin County Hospice, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, Vt. 05478; the American Cancer Association; the American Diabetes Association; or the Make-A-Wish Foundation.
TERESA M. CROSS
ST. ALBANS -- Mrs. Teresa M. Cross, age 80, died Tuesday evening, Sept. 10, 2002, in Redstone Villa, following an extended illness. She was born in Montreal, Quebec, Jan. 21, 1922, daughter of the late Thomas and Maimee Aiken. Her sole reason for living was to proudly raise her seven children.
She is survived by her six children, Gary and his wife Barbara Cross of Austin, Texas, Garth "Sonny" Cross and his life partner Esther Kinney of Johnson, Donna and her fiance Michael Paquette of Chesterfield, N.H., Larry and his wife Gina Cross of Fairfield, Darlene and her husband Paul Richards of Peru, N.Y., and Darla Cross of St. Albans; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and several cousins. She was predeceased by her daughter, Gloria Tasha in 2000, and when Teresa was six months old, both of her parents died.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 14, 2002, at 10 a.m. in the Brady & Levesque Chapel. Friends may call at the funeral home, 86 South Main St., from 3 to 5 Friday afternoon. Interment will be in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

MARY A GOODRICH
FRANKLIN -- Mary A. Goodrich, of the Carriage House in Franklin, died Wednesday morning, Sept. 11, 2002, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Jan. 17, 1913, in Franklin, the daughter of the late Frank and Violet (Jackson) Gallup.
She graduated from Franklin High School in 1931, and Johnson Normal School in 1932. She then taught school for one year in East Franklin. In 1933, she married Leland Oliver Goodrich and together they spent many years farming in Berkshire. She also worked through the years in sewing rooms in Enosburg and Richford and at the Northland Hockey Stick Factory in Richford. Sewing and crocheting afghans were her favorite pastimes. In later years, Mary and Leland enjoyed camping and were members of the Good Sam Campers Club.
Mary loved to drive her car to watch her children and great-grandchildren play sports at Richford High School. She was also an avid fan of the Boston Celtics.
She is survived by a son and his wife, Kenneth and Joan Goodrich of Berkshire; a daughter and her husband, Helen and Pete Pedersen of Richford; nine grandchildren, Jeff and Lynn Goodrich, Linda and Alfred Zenisky, Mike and Debbie Goodrich, Kathy and Terry Tatro, Thelma and Bill Edwards, Jim and Shelly Woods, John and Patty Woods, Lynn and Ernie Minetti, and Lisa and Dale Lamell; 24 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great-grandchildren; also a special family friend, Jeannette Bosley of Berkshire. She was predeceased by her husband, Leland Goodrich; and two sisters, Thelma and Helen Gallup.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 at the East Franklin Union Church with Pastor Mike Long officiating. Interment will follow in the East Franklin Cemetery.
Visiting hours will be held this evening, Thursday, from 7 to 9 at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.

JOAN T. HOPKINS
MAHWAH, N.J. -- Joan T. Hopkins, 84 of Mahwah, N.J., passed away Monday, Sept. 2, 2002.
She is survived by her sons, Fred Hopkins and his fiancee Maureen Lake of Mahwah, N.J. and Steven Hopkins of St. Albans.
Joan was a summer resident of Maquam Shore and Butler Island for 80 years.
A Memorial Service will be held in North Hero at The North Hero House on Sunday, Sept. 15, at 12 noon. Please come in casual attire.
In lieu of flowers, donations to The American Cancer Society would be appreciated.
STEVEN C. BLAISDELL
GEORGIA -- Steven C. Blaisdell, 40, died unexpectedly Sunday, Sept. 8, 2002. Steven was born in Burlington on Aug. 27, 1962, the son of Maurice and Beatrice (LaPan) Blaisdell.
He was raised in Milton and attended Milton High School, graduating in 1980.
He is survived by his daughter, Lacey Ann; his mother, Beatrice Blaisdell of Milton; his brothers, David Blaisdell and his wife Betty of Milton, Dale Blaisdell and his wife Cristal of Georgia and Daniel Blaisdell and his wife Holly of St. Albans. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Rebecca, Melissa, Kevin, Amanda, Skylar, Natasha, Michael, Michelle, and Marsha Lee; by his paternal grandmother, Katherine Blaisdell of Winooski; his maternal grandmother, Bernice LaPan of South Burlington; and by several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father Maurice on Jan. 18, 1981.
Steven lived with diabetes for over 32 years.
He was employed by B&B Auto Salvage for over 10 years. He served as manager for the last year.
Steve was a great hunter, fisherman, and friend to all. He cared for everybody and kept his family as one. He was very hardheaded, but loved by everyone. He will be missed deeply by many.

CAROL WHEELER MORGAN
ST. ALBANS HILL -- Carol Wheeler Morgan, 72, died peacefully at her home with family members present on Friday night, Sept. 6, 2002, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. She was born on April 9, 1930, in Granville, N.Y., the daughter of the late Howard and Esther (Stephenson) Wheeler. She resided in Poultney, Vt. during early childhood. She was a music lover and singer and performed on her own radio show on WJOY at only 16 years of age. She sang with Vermont's Oratorical Society and in church choirs as well.
At age 17, she married Richard L. Morgan, Sr., and they have been happily married for 55 years. They have three grown children, 15 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. Carol worked as a home care provider for the VNA, caring for Alzheimer's patients for many years. She also faithfully attended and served as librarian at Community Bible Church. Most recently, she was a member of the Church of the Rock in St. Albans. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her sister and brother-in-law, Jeanne and Dick Arnold, and a brother, George Wheeler.
In addition to her husband, Lt. Col. Richard L. Morgan, Sr. (US Army Ret.), Carol is survived by her children and their spouses, Rick and Linda Morgan-O'Connor of Millbury, Mass., Karen Sue and Stephen Bent of St. Albans, Pamela and Spencer Richland of Essex Jct.; also her grandchildren, Jason Murphy, Channa Ernst and her husband, Billy, Cory Morgan, Lyric Morgan O'Connor, Michael Parker and his wife, Elizabeth, Joy Hayes and her husband, Ryan, Stephen Bent and his wife, Laura, Mary Beth Badonsky and her husband, Glenn, Andrew Parker, Luke Parker, Morgan, Anna, Nathaniel, Aaron, and Olivia Richland. She also leaves great grandchildren, Zachary and Devon Ernst, Cassandra Morgan, Grace, Amsden and Simon Hayes, Michael Aube, and Samantha Parker, a brother, Rick Wheeler, a sister-in-law, Beverly Morgan, and many loving nieces and nephews.
Many loved ones will remember the sound of Carol's beautiful voice as she shared her gift through the years, and we will cherish those memories always. Carol was a Christian woman who deeply trusted in God. She was a dedicated wife and mother who lived a beautiful life that is an example for us all. She is greatly loved and will forever remain in our hearts.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. in the Church of the Rock, Assemblies of God, Rt. 104, St. Albans. A luncheon will follow the church service in the church hall. Interment will be at 2 p.m. in the Ft. Ethan Allen Veterans Cemetery in Colchester.
