VIOLET MINCKLER "JACKIE" MORITS
SWANTON -- Violet "Jackie" Morits, 77, a lifelong resident of Swanton, died Saturday evening, Aug. 3, 2002, in The Holiday House Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in St. Albans Town.
Jackie was born in Swanton on May 20, 1925, a daughter of the late William and Helen (Greenia) Minckler. She attended Swanton schools and, in 1942, was married to Gordon Morits, who predeceased her in 1974.
For almost 40 years, she worked as a machine operator for the former Union Carbide Corporation in St. Albans. She was a longtime member of the American Legion, Green Mountain Post 1, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Post 758, both in St. Albans. She also belonged to the American Association of Retired Persons and was a lifelong parishioner of The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
Jackie leaves two sisters and their husbands, Lillian and Richard Decelle and Barbara and Donald Morgan; and a brother, James Minckler, and his wife, Cecile, all of Swanton; as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, sisters Florence Craig, Gladys Trombly, and Joan Myers, and a brother, Arthur Minckler, predeceased her.
At Jackie's request, there will be no public visitation or funeral. A private graveside service in Riverside Cemetery will be arranged at a later date for immediate family members only.
Gifts in Jackie's memory may be made to The Church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, 65 Canada St., Swanton, Vt. 05488.
Arrangements are under the direction of the Kidder Memorial Home in Swanton.
ANNETTA O. WILLIAMS
ST. ALBANS -- Mrs. Anetta O. Williams, 63, a longtime area resident, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Aug. 3, 2002, at Northwestern Medical Center. She was born in Westford on June 9, 1939, the daughter of the late Harry J. and Mildred (Wolfe) Osborne. She was the widow of Robert L. Williams who died on Jan. 27, 2002.
Anetta is survived by three daughters, Margaret L. Williams of St. Albans, Donna L. Ciereszynski of Dover, N.H., and Karen Hutchins of Barre; a son, Reginald Hutchins of St. Albans; a brother, Gerald Osborne of Irving, Texas; a sister-in-law, Lillie McMahon of St. Albans; and several nieces and nephews
A graveside funeral and committal service will be held on Tuesday at 10 a.m. in the St. Albans Bay Cemetery. The Reverend William Simmons, Pastor of the First Baptist Church, will officiate. There will be no public visitation.
Arrangements are by the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street.
RUDOLPH L. ZEIDLER
ST. ALBANS -- Mr. Rudolph L. Zeidler, age 71, died Saturday evening, Aug. 3, 2002, in the Fletcher Allen Health Care, Burlington. He was born in Munich, Germany July 21, 1931, son of the late Lorenz and Vera (Sattler) Zeidler. Rudolph was married Sept. 17, 1960, to Suzanne Giroux.
Rudolph was an avid skier and sportsman. He participated in 1948 and 1952 Winter Olympic Games. He spent most of his working life in the ski industry. He installed and maintained snowmaking equipment all over the world. He moved to St. Albans in 1958 to build the Wolf Run Country Club and was employed at Century Arms in St. Albans. He volunteered much of his time to Hard'ack Ski and Snowboarding Area.
Rudolph is survived by his loving wife Suzanne (Giroux) of over 42 years; his two daughters, Cynthia Waltz of Margate, N.Y., Danie Zeidler of St. Albans; his granddaughters Monique Zeidler and Olivia Mercure, both of St. Albans; a sister, Traudl Quecke of Peissenberg, Germany; several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 10 a.m., Aug. 7, 2002, in St. Mary's Church. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Interment will follow in the Zeidler family lot in Holy Cross Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 485, Williston, Vt. 05495.

HOWARD E. HARVEY
ST. ALBANS -- Mr. Howard E. Harvey, age 82, died Saturday evening, Aug. 3, 2002, in the Haven Health Center following an extended illness. He was born in St. Albans March 10, 1920, son of the late Harold H. and Monica M. (Shover) Harvey. He married Alma L'Esperance Feb. 9, 1942.
He enjoyed his family times at their summer camp and loved traveling the back roads. Howard was employed at the Central Vermont Railway as a mechanic for several years and later was a mechanic for the H.W. Hungerford Ford Dealership and worked at White Fuels.
He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Alma Harvey of St. Albans; his sons, Maurice A. Harvey and his fiancee Mary Mead of Charlotte, Charles E. and his wife Solange Harvey of Westford; daughters and their husbands, Elaine and Roger Lissenden of Bakersfield, Donna and Spencer Brooks of St. Albans Town, Susan and Thomas Miller of Swanton; his brother, Harold J. Harvey of Biloxi, Miss.; nine grandchildren, Kelly and John Fisher, Karen Lissenden, Roger Lissenden II, Krista and Bret Greenstein, Jason and Andrea Harvey, Tayt Brooks, Kelly Brooks, Ashley Harvey, Erin Harvey; seven great-grandchildren, Jason and Elaina Fisher, Michael and Shawnee Lissenden, Benjamin and Emily Greenstein, Cooper Harvey; his extended family, Susan Hunkins and Gloria Brown; sisters and brothers-in-law Gertrude Sheloski of Strattford, Conn., Francis and Elaine L'Esperance of St. Albans, Armand and Betty L'Esperance of St. Albans, Maurice and Haroldine L'Esperance of St. Albans, Laurent and Penny L'Esperance of Sheldon, Raymond and Melaine L'Esperance of St. Albans Town, Pamela L'Esperance of St. Albans; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his grandson, Todd Miller; a great-granddaughter, Savannah Harvey; and brother-in-law, Edward L'Esperance.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday at 10 a.m. in Holy Angels Church. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., from 7 to 9 p.m. today (Monday). Interment will be in the Harvey family lot in Mt. Calvary Cemetery.

RANDALL DeFORREST AUSTIN
BURLINGTON -- Mr. Randall DeForrest Austin, age 69, of Burlington, died Thursday, Aug. 1, 2002, with his family by his side at the Vermont Respite House in Williston after a long illness.
Randall was born in Highgate on Sept. 21, 1932, the son of the late George Sr. and Beryl (Johnson) Austin. He attended various schools in Franklin County. He married Joyce Rich on Sept. 22, 1956.
Randall was employed for several years by the Vermont Railway and General Electric. He took early retirement at the age of 62 to pursue his passion -- a great game of golf with his brothers and friends. He was a Korean War veteran and a Third Degree Mason.
Randall is survived by his wife Joyce of 46 years; three children, Duane and Francine Austin of Milton, Candy and Randy Jenkins of Essex Jct. and Deborah Maple of South Burlington; six grandchildren, Troy and Ryan Austin, Jeremy, Jessica and Meghan Jenkins and Brian Maple; four brothers, Avery Austin of Sheldon Springs, Marvin Austin of Palm Beach, Fla., Forrest Austin of Bradenton, Fla., and Ballard Austin of St. Albans; five sisters, Mae Beyor of Highgate Center, Brenda Giroux of Fort Myers, Fla., Shelby Thibault of Milton, Carolyn Boomhower of Fairfield and Sharon Craig of Highgate; many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and his brother, George Jr.

WALTER LAWRENCE "LARRY" URIE
SOUTH HERO -- Walter Lawrence "Larry" Urie, 71, passed away Friday, Aug. 2, 2002, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in Burlington.
Mr. Urie was born June 23, 1931, in Glover, one of four children of Walter Roland and Marie Baker Urie.
He was a graduate of the University of Vermont and was a self employed Civil Engineer and Land Surveyor. He also served his community as a member of the School Board, the Volunteer Ambulance Service and as a Vermont Legislator.
He is survived by his wife, Joan H. Dederer Urie, whom he married on July 3, 1954, in Shelburne Trinity Episcopal Church. He leaves six children and seven grandchildren, Gene and his wife Susi of Truckee, Calif., Glenn and his wife Beth and children Emily and Matilda of Brookfield, Gary and his life partner Pamela Krausz of Brookfield and children Joel, Morgan and Alex, Grant and his wife Hope Johnson of Shelburne, Geoff and his wife Rebecca and son Parker of Charlotte and Tina Mastrianni and her daughter Megan of Milton. He is also survived by his sister, Irene Vollbrecht and her husband Dick of Fremont, Calif.; and his brother Dean Urie of Cadillac, Mich.
A Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, Aug. 11, 2002, at 2 p.m. in the Minor Funeral Home, Rt. 7, Milton. The family will receive friends at the Funeral Home from 1 p.m. until the hour of the service on Sunday. Burial will be in the South Hero Cemetery.

LUCY P. GOKEY
WEST BERKSHIRE -- Lucy P. Gokey, age 75, died Friday afternoon, Aug. 2, 2002, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Feb. 21, 1927, in East Franklin, the daughter of the late Clarence and Edith (Cook) Guthrie.
She was a life long resident of West Berkshire and was a cook at the Berkshire Elementary School and had also taken care of her sister Ada for several years. She enjoyed Bingo, cards and board games and loved to feed the birds. Most of all she loved to have her family at home for Christmas.
She is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Marilyn and Roland Baker of Montgomery, Wanda and Darrell Reed and Bonnie and Kevin Donna all of West Berkshire; seven grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; a sister-in-law, Marion Gokey of Tilton, N.H.; special friends, Diana Lagrow of East Franklin and Mary Lawyer of Richford. She was predeceased by her husband Chester Gokey Jr.; three sisters, Agatha Hance, Alda Wakeman and Ada Smith.
Funeral services were held Monday morning (today) at 11 at the East Franklin Union Church with Pastor Mike Long officiating. Interment followed in the East Franklin Cemetery.
Visiting hours were held Sunday evening from 7-9 at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls.
