BROTHER LAURENT BOUCHER, CSC
MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA/HIGHGATE CENTER -- Brother Laurent Boucher, CSC, 83, died Wednesday evening, June 5, 2002, at Le Grand Saint Joseph in Montreal where he had resided for the past three months.
Brother Laurent was born in Ste Sabine, Quebec, Canada on, Dec. 21, 1918, the son of the late Rene and Imelda (Choquette) Boucher.
He attended St. Anne's Academy in Swanton, and began his religious life studying at the Holy Cross Juniorate in Ste. Cesaire, Quebec. He became a member of the Congregation Holy Cross pronouncing his final vows in August of 1941.
Brother Laurent spent 40 years teaching in schools and colleges in the Provinces of Quebec and New Brunswick. After working as a translator at the Generalate of the Holy Cross in Rome, he was employed for 15 years at St. Joseph's Oratory in Montreal. During his lifetime he also authored several biographies including "The Miracle Man of Mount Royal", the complete English biography of Brother Andre Bessette, the founder of St. Joseph's Oratory.
Besides his brothers in religious life, Brother Laurent leaves three sisters, Claire Gabso of Burlington, Yvette Mazuzan (George) of Springfield, Va., and Lucille Biever (Duane) of Poukeepsie, N.Y.; six brothers, Father Maurice U. Boucher, SSE of Alburg and Isle La Motte, Hertel Boucher (Andree) of Montreal, John Boucher (Anita) of Swanton, Paul Boucher (Ellen) of Philadelphia, Pa., Dr. Bernard Boucher (Madeleine) of St. Albans and Gilbert Boucher (Gemma) of Highgate Center; a sister-in-law, Rita Boucher of Highate Center, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A brother, Germain Boucher, predeceased him in 1990.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday, June 10, 2002, at 10 a.m. from St. Joseph's Oratory, 3800 Queen Mary Road, Montreal, Quebec. Interment will follow in the Cote des Neiges Cemetery. Friends called at the Urgel Bourget Funeral Home, 5650 Cote des Neiges, Montreal on Sunday, June 9, 2002, from 2 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m.
PHILIP R. JOHNSON
ENOSBURG FALLS -- Philip R. Johnson, age 80, died Saturday evening, June 8, 2002, at the Fletcher Allen Health Care in Burlington.
He was born July 29, 1921, in Sheldon, the son of the late Raymond and Florence (Corey) Johnson.
Phil farmed, logged and sugared on several area farms. He also worked for Lionel Parent Rubbish Removal in Enosburg and worked in many local cemeteries. He loved to fish and could always be seen walking around town.
He is survived by three sisters, Ardelle Elwood of Enosburg Falls, Lucy Pearo of St. Albans and Wanda Ploof of Sheldon Springs; several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Rose Friot. He was predeceased by a brother, Robert Johnson.
Friends and relatives may call on the family one hour prior to the funeral which will be held Wednesday morning at 11 o'clock at the Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls, with Pastor Cheryl Heater officiating. Interment will follow in the Sheldon Village Cemetery.

YVES GODBOUT
RICHFORD -- Yves Godbout, age 64, died Saturday, June 8, 2002, at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born March 31, 1938, in Compton, P.Q. Canada, the son of the late Ovide and Armandine (Savage) Godbout.
Yves was a life long farmer, who enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He also enjoyed going for car rides, gardening and barbecues.
He is survived by his wife, Claire (Godin) Godbout of Richford, they were married Sept. 1, 1962; his children, Edward Godbout and his wife Joyce of Bangor, N.Y., Celine and Mark Weld of Berkshire, Philip Godbout of Richford, and Jeanette and William Rose of Sheldon; eight grandchildren, Mark, Matthew, Julicia, Alex, John, Megan, Joshua and Emily; three brothers, Normand Godbout and his wife Jane of East Berkshire, Richard Godbout of Amsterdam, N.Y., and Bernie Godbout of Schenectady, N.Y.; eight sisters, Micheline Hardy of Richford, Rachel Godbout of Sherbrooke, Quebec, Madeleine Hebert and her husband Armand of Delanson, N.Y., Carmen Hebert and her husband Richard of Gansevoort, N.Y., Gabrielle Godbout of St. Lambert, Quebec, Theresa Hauver of Granby, Quebec, Pauline Sallis of Eastman, Quebec, and Marcelle Demers of Deland, Fla.; several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday morning at 11 o'clock at All Saints Catholic Church with Revered Frank Eksterowicz celebrating the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
Friends and relatives may call on the family Tuesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the Spears Funeral Home on 140 Main St., Richford.

GLADYS M. MOODIE-HUTCHINS
LAKELAND, Fla. -- Gladys M. Moodie-Hutchins, died peacefully at home on June 5, 2002, surrounded by family members.
Gladys was born Feb. 26, 1926, in Springfield, Mass., the daughter of Arthur and Pearl Bates who have both predeceased her.
She moved to North Wolcott, Vt. as a teenager where she met and married the late Floyd K. Moodie Sr. They had six children.
In 1958, the family moved to Springfield, Mass. where she worked at Scanlon's and Fran and Jim's restaurants.
In 1966, she married Paul E. Hutchins who predeceased her in 1984. They lived in Middlebury. She worked at Palmers Restaurant for many years, now Rosie's. Later, they moved to Johnson.
She is survived by three daughters and two sons, Marjorie Pfremmer and her husband Kent of Lakeland, Fla., Marlene Monty and her husband Louis of Southwick, Mass., Lila Wilde and her husband Anthony of Lakeland, Fla., Donald Moodie and his wife Geraldine of Suffield, Conn., and Floyd K. Moodie Jr. and his wife Barbara of Middlebury. One son, Robert, predeceased her. She leaves nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Gladys is also survived by three sisters and two brothers, Evelyn Eldridge, Orange City, Fla., Adeline Littlefield, Lakeland, Fla., Mildred Frates, Springfield, Mass., Herbert Bates, Springfield, Mass., Harold Bates, Springfield, Mass.
Her sister Gertrude Scavato and brothers Clayton, Robert and Charles Bates predeceased her.
She was a member of the Regular Veterans Ladies Auxiliary Post 3, the Disabled American Veterans Auxiliary Chapter 28, and the Veterans of Foreign War Ladies Auxiliary Post 2297, all in Lakeland, Fla.
She enjoyed playing bingo and cards with her family. She took great pride in her children, their families and their many accomplishments. Many joyful hours were spent with them.
Family will received friends on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the des Groseilliers Funeral Home, Main Street, Johnson. Interment will follow in Evergreen Ledge Cemetery in Johnson.
Arrangements are under the direction of des Groseilliers Funeral Home in Johnson.
WILLIAM (BILL) F. GRAY
ROSEVILLE, Calif. -- William F. Gray (Bill) died unexpectedly at his home in Roseville Calif., June 1 2002. Bill was the son of Frank and Cora (Larry) Gray. Born in Danville, Ill. Feb. 22, 1922. He came to live with the Larry family in the early 1930's.
He attended BFA in the Class of 1937. Prior to graduation the family returned to Danville, where Bill finished high school, married Virginia Gray and returned to Vermont to attend UVM.
After graduation he raised a family while living in Illinois, Ohio and Texas. He served his country during World War II in the South Pacific seeing combat with the U.S. Navy. Bill worked for Chance Vought Aircraft during the Korean Conflict. He returned to Ohio and took a position with Western Electric/AT&T in Columbus, Ohio retiring from there in 1961. In 1996 he moved to Roseville. Calif. to be near his children. Bill was an avid fisherman, golfer, bridge player and civilian pilot. He served as elder, deacon, choir member and teacher at the Sierra Christian Church.
Bill was predeceased by an older brother, Kenneth, and younger sister, Lida. He is survived by his wife, Virginia; son Joe of Nassau Bay, Texas and Linda Lenches of Danville, Calif.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

WILLIS N. COOK
SWANTON -- Mr. Willis N. Cook, age 79, died Tuesday afternoon, June 4, 2002, at his home with his loving family at his bedside. He was born in Sheldon, Oct. 17, 1922, son of the late Richard and Norma (Merrick) Cook.
He was a dairy farmer for over 30 years and later worked at Wyeth Nutritionals.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was discharged after being injured during a bombing in London, England. He was a member of the American Legion Post 1 of St. Albans. He enjoyed traveling around the United States and was an avid bird watcher.
He married Rita Benoit Feb. 7, 1948. Besides his wife, Rita of Swanton, he leaves five children, Susan Desrochers of Swanton, Diane and her husband Don Mullally of Morrisville, Helen Axelson of Matthews, N.C., Willis L. Cook of Swanton, and Carlton and his wife Rhonda Cook of Jeffersonville; four sisters, Mary and her husband Gordon Beyor of Highgate, Sybil Martin of Swanton, Tony Estus of Westford, Eva Paquette of St. Albans; five grandchildren, Jennifer and Erik Whittaker, Adam Desrochers, Joshua Cook, Sara Cook and Jason Bornhurst; a great-granddaughter Arianna Whittaker; brother-in-law Roland and his wife Betty Benoit of Swanton; sisters-in-law Theresa Atkins of Cape Cod, Mass., Lucy and her husband Don Engleburt of Rome, N.Y.; a special care giver, nurse Nancy Kirby; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son Robert Cook on Jan. 11, 1991; brothers Delbert, Charles, Norman, Stephen, Howard; sisters Alice Cook, Grace Domina, Etta Shoram and Nila Gabree.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in Holy Angels Church. Friends may call at the Brady & Levesque Funeral Home, 86 South Main St., St. Albans, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday.

LOTTIE MAE DIBBLEE
FAIRFAX -- Lottie Mae Dibblee, 89, passed away early Tuesday morning at Northwestern Medical Center. She was born in Fairfield, July 2, 1912, the daughter of the late Nelson E. and Rozina A. (Gordon) Elwood. She is the widow of Hazen Dibblee who died November 11, 1977.
Lottie was a member of the Morrisville Eastern Star and the St. Albans Women of the Moose, Chapter 321.
Survivors include four daughters, Rosemary Siano of Greenfield, Mass., Myrna Chovanec of St. Albans Bay, Leatrice Davis of Crestview, Fla., and Thelma and her husband, Elton Dashno of St. Albans Bay; and a son-in-law, Larry Hoffman of Greenfield, Mass. She also leaves 16 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a daughter, Lois Hoffman; a granddaughter, Joan Furtado; a brother, Gordon Elwood; and two sisters, Alma Dupre and Verna Hickok and two sons-in-law, John Chovanec and Michael Siano.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of her family. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of one's choice.
