RONALD C. LANPHER

Hancock, VT - RONALD C. LANPHER, 75, of Hancock, died Sunday night, January 18, 2015 at Porter Hospital in Middlebury, after a lengthy illness.
He was born October 17, 1939 in Abington, CT; the son of Clifton and Roseanna (Cote) Lanpher. He attended elementary school in Pittsfield, VT and graduated from Whitcomb High School in Bethel in 1957. After high school, he served in the Army National Guard until 1963. Ronald married
Joanne Comes in September 1958. After working for Weyerhauser Company in Hancock for several years, he began carpentry work which became his lifelong career and passion. He enjoyed reading, especially Westerns, spending time with his children, grandchildren and family, and in earlier years, going to dances.
Survivors include his wife, Joanne; three children, Jeffrey and his wife, Mary Jo and their children, Kristina & Dillon of Bozeman, MT, Rhonda and William Richmond and their children, Samantha, Savanna, and William of Goose Creek, SC, and Steven of Lake Hiawatha, NJ and his children, Logan and Chase; sisters, Bea McCullough of Bethel, Beulah Lanpher of South Royalton, and Beverly Poirier of White River Jct; brother, Larry Lanpher of Pittsfield; sister-in-law, Sharon Wood and her husband, Glenn of Rochester; brothers-in-law, Larry Comes of Bristol and Willo McCullough of Bethel; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents and baby brother, Floyd Lanpher.
A private graveside service will be held at a later date. There are no calling hours. Contributions in his memory may be made to the Hancock Public Library, Hancock, VT 05748 or to Porter Hospital, Special Care Unit, Middlebury, VT.

BARBARA ANNE ROCHLIN
(April 8, 1938 - January 19, 2015)
Rochester, VT - BARBARA ANNE ROCHLIN, 76, of Rochester, died Monday, Jan. 19, 2015 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH.
She was born April 8, 1938 in Asbury Park, NJ; the daughter of Robert J. and Dorothy (Herig) Rischmann. She was raised in Asbury Park, and had lived in Brazil, Doylestown, PA & Quakertown, PA, then Apache Junction, AZ, before moving to Rochester in 2003. She had been married
to John E. Braun. She was married
to Vernon Rochlin on August 20, 1994 in Doylestown, PA. Barbara had a Masters in Social Work and had been a Registered Nurse and Drug and Alcohol counselor, and an avid quilter.
Survivors include her husband, Vernon Rochlin of Rochester; sons, Chris Braun of Harleysville, PA and Richard Braun of Quakertown, PA; step-son Wayne Rochlin of Hatboro, PA; daughters, Sheila Braun of So. Burlington and Amy Braun of Rochester; step-daughter, Pamela Rochlin of Fort Collins, CO; step-brother, Douglas Rischmann; sister, Marilyn Rischmann of Talbot, TN; seven grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held at 1:00pm Saturday, Jan. 31st at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph. There are no calling hours. Contributions in her memory may be made to the National Scoliosis Foundation at www.scoliosis.org.
DOROTHY C. CASCIOTTA
(May 9, 1931 - January 11, 2015)
Stockbridge, VT - DOROTHY C. CASCIOTTA, 83, of Stockbridge, VT and Port Orange, FL died peacefully Sunday, Jan. 11, 2015 at her home in Stockbridge after a long illness.
She was born in Southampton, L.I., N.Y. on May 9, 1931; the daughter of the late Stanley and Theodosia (Mulski) Sobel who both came from Poland in 1910. She was the beloved wife of Anthony J. Casciotta; mother of Salvatore of Hampton Bays, NY, Anthony Jr. of Medford, NJ, Peter of Orange, FL and John of Massapequa Park, NY; grandmother of Alyssa and Anthony T., Maria and Anthony R., Jonathan, Ryan and Courtney. She would also like to remember her friends Aunt Net Gianetto, Flo Porter, and her caregivers Darlene Peters and Denise Carr, Charlie and Jen Howard and Dan and Laurie Navotney.
Dorothy was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, St. Anthony’s Court 1231 in Bethel, VT, and a Parish Council member of St. Dennis R. C. in Pittsfield, VT. She volunteered at the Bethel Food Shelf, the Senior Thrift Store in South Royalton, and Interfaith Caregivers. She was last employed by the St. Anthony’s Rectory in Bethel. Her hobbies included reading, baking, cooking, gardening, knitting, crafts and going to the Beach.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 12noon Saturday, Jan. 31st at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Bethel. There are no calling hours. Contributions in her memory may be made to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, P.O. Box 63, Bethel, VT 05032, Stockbridge Fire Department, P.O. Box 39, Stockbridge, VT 05772, or to Catholic Daughters of America, Bethel Chapter.

VICTOR GUY HOOD
(July 8, 1946 - January 17, 2015)
Braintree, VT - VICTOR GUY HOOD, 68, of Braintree, died Saturday, January 17, 2015 at his home.
He was born July 8, 1946 in Montpelier, VT; the son of Harrison and Alma (Toby) Hood. He was raised in Montpelier and had lived in Bethel before moving to Braintree in 1990. Victor was married
to Mabel Gamble in Williamstown in 1980, and had worked for Vermont Castings for 25 years. He enjoyed fishing and being with his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife, Mabel Hood of Braintree; sons, Hal Grout and wife, Debby of CT, Clifton Grout and wife, Dawn of TN, and Richard Grout and wife, Nichole of Bradford, VT; aunt, Lois Toby of Montpelier; 11 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.
A private service at Fairview cemetery in Bethel will be held at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Contributions in his memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 330 Congress Street, Boston, MA 02210.

CHRISTOPHER JOHN MURRAY
(December 20, 1962 - January 18, 2015)
Rochester, VT - CHRISTOPHER JOHN MURRAY, 52, of Rochester, died Sunday morning, Jan. 18, 2015 at his home.
He was born December 20, 1962 in Randolph; the son of Herb and Ann Bashaw. Christopher was a lifetime Rochester resident, was a carpenter and had worked for Inner Traditions for 10 years. Christopher was married
to Shari Townsend in Rochester on March 3, 2005. He had been a lister for the Town of Rochester since 2005. Christopher played in the Rochester Men’s Softball League for many years, and was a Babe Ruth Coach and umpire. He enjoyed reading, hunting, gardening, baseball, trains, and building things.
Survivors include his wife, Shari Murray of Rochester; parents, Herb and Ann Bashaw of Jay, NY; daughter, Maria Murray and fiancé, Chris Loftus of Stockbridge; sons, Cito Murray and fiancée, Lynn Blackwood of Camp LeJeune, NC, Quique Murray and wife, Amanda of Nottingham, NH, and Nolan Murray of Braintree; step-daughter, Heidi Friedman of Virginia Beach, VA; step-son, Mike Friedman and wife, Erin of Gilford, NH; sister, Victoria Jopling and husband, Ace of Lake Placid, NY; former wives, Rosario Urdaneta of Orlando, FL and Anissa Lewis of Braintree; many step-siblings from the Bashaw family; one grandchild. He was predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth Ann Murray, and step-sister, Diana Hathaway.
A celebration of Christopher’s life will be from 1:00-4:00pm Saturday, January 24th at Pierce Hall in Rochester. There are no calling hours. ARTHUR C. SULHAM
(Died January 15, 2015)

Stockbridge - Arthur C. Sulham, 86, died Thursday, January 15, 2015 at The Pines in Rutland.
He was born July 10, 1928 in Pittsfield the son of Frank and Mary (Westcott) Sulham.
Arthur attended Pittsfield schools. Following his education he drove truck for Marty Bowen. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War. After returning home from the service he owned and operated a service station in Pittsfield. He was married
to Jeanine Pinney July 10, 1955 in Mendon, they were later divorced. He later worked for General Electric in Rutland before going to work for Central Vermont Public Service where he worked as a mechanic until retiring in 1990. He was married
to Lorraine Canning December 13, 1986 in Rochester. Arthur was a member of Rural Lodge #29 F & AM in Rochester and the Rutland American Legion Post. He had served as Fire Chief for the Stockbridge Fire Dept. for several years. He enjoyed snowmobiling, ATV riding, gardening, camping and Jeeping.
He is survived by his wife Lorraine Sulham of Stockbridge, 2 daughters; Donna Sulham of Hydeville and Debra Sulham of Rutland, 3 step-sons; Carl Brown of Keene, NH, Ricky Martin of Birmingham, AL and Barry Martin of Ludlow, a sister Olive Tracy of Windsor, 5 grandchildren; Samantha Wade, Amanda Sulham, Tyler Fontaine, Mackenzie Martin and Alexis Martin and 2 great-grandchildren; Isabel and Gabrielle Wade. He was predeceased by a daughter Delores Sulham, a brother Frank Sulham, Jr. and 2 sisters; Roberth Sulham and Eunice Mills.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, January 24th at the Pittsfield Federated Church with Pastor Thomas Harty officiating. Calling hours will be Friday January 23rd, 6:00-8:00 P.M. at the Day Funeral Home, Randolph. Burial will be in the Pittsfield Village cemetery at a later date.

GAIL EDWARD KNAPP
(October 15, 1944 - January 15, 2015)

Bethel, VT - GAIL EDWARD KNAPP, 70, of Bethel, died Thursday, January 15, 2015 at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph.
He was born October 15, 1944 in Rutland; the son of Atlee and Albertha (Cox) Knapp. He was raised in Schenecta dy, NY and had lived in Middletown, CT and Rutland before moving to Bethel in 1985. Gail served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, and had been an inspector for General Electric for 15 years. He was a member of the American Legion and the Rutland Masonic Lodge. He enjoyed country music, playing guitar in a band, and had been a disc jockey for parties.
Survivors include his wife, Mary L. Knapp of Bethel; sons, Michael Knapp, Anthony Knapp, and Daniel Knapp, all of Middletown, CT; sister, Elaine Stephens of Conyers, GA; two grandchildren.
Services to be announced in the Spring will be held at the Vermont Veterans Memorial cemetery in Randolph Center. There are no calling hours. Contributions in his memory may be made to the White River Valley Ambulance, 3190 Pleasant Street, Bethel, VT 05032.
