Gerald S. Sherman
Granville — Gerald S. Sherman, 77, died Wednesday, Oct. 12, 2011 at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph.
He was born Nov. 30, 1933 in Rochester; the son of Gerald R. and Dorothy (Stearns) Sherman. He was raised in Rochester and graduated from Randolph Agricultural School.
He married
Margaret O’Hearn in Granville on December 29, 1973. He was a lifetime Rochester-Granville area resident, and was a logger working on Interstate 89 for many years.
He was a member of the Rochester Masonic Lodge and was a Shriner. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, sports, and sugaring.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Elizabeth Sherman of Rutland; two sons, Bruce G. Sherman and wife, Caroline of Virginia Beach, Va., and Brian K. Sherman of Rochester; daughter, Jackie Lynn Gage of Skaneateles, N.Y.; sisters, Lorraine Blair of Randolph and Loretta Guilmette of Bristol, Conn.; brother-in-law, Henry Eaton of Jamaica, Vt.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was predeceased by his sister, Lorena Eaton; and brother, Robert Sherman.
Services for family and friends will be next May, and will be announced at a later date. Arrangements are by the Day Funeral Home in Randolph.
Marilyn J. Sulle
Randolph — Marilyn J. Sulle, 73, died Sunday, October 9, 2011 at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph.
She was born December 2, 1937 in Randolph, the daughter of Laurence and Bernice (Kerry) Benoir. She attended schools in Peth and Randolph. She had worked as a seamstress at Van Raalte in Randolph and later was a machine operator at Waterbury Plastics in Randolph, until her retirement in 1994.
She was married
to Alfred Hoisington and later married
to William Sulle. She enjoyed reading, traveling around New England, and taking bus tours with the Randolph Area Senior Center. In earlier years, she enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.
She was predeceased by her husband, William Sulle; five brothers, Jack, Kenneth, Wesley, Edwin, and Ronald Benoir; and two sisters, Barbara Wakefield and Dorothy Arbuckle.
Survivors include her daughter, Bernice Hoisington of Madawaska, Maine; three brothers, Philip and Wallace Benoir, both of Randolph, and Laurence Benoir Jr. of Northfield; four sisters, Marcia Sevigny and Judy Sherman of Braintree, and Phyllis Salls and Elizabeth Benoir of Randolph; three grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
Funeral services were held Monday, Oct. 17 at the Day Funeral Home with Rev. Ronald E. Rilling officiating. Burial took place at Mountain View cemetery in West Braintree. A reception followed at the Green Mountain Gospel Chapel fellowship hall.
Contributions in her memory may be made to the Randolph Senior Center.
Patricia S. Howe
Tunbridge, Vt. — Patricia Savage Howe, 82, of Safety Harbor, Fla. and Tunbridge, Vt., died October 15, 2011 peacefully at Morton Plant Hospital, Clearwater, Fla.
She was born August 2, 1929, the fifth daughter of Dorothy Bigelow Savage Hancock and William Savage. She grew up in Randolph, Vt., where she attended Randolph High School. She went onto Russell Sage College in Troy, N.Y. and then went on to Cornell University Nursing School in New York City where she received her BS and RN in 1952. After nursing school, she worked at Mary Fletcher Hospital (now Fletcher Allen Hospital) in Burlington, Vt., until she married
Luke A. Howe of Tunbridge, Vt. October 17, 1953.
Her life was very full, as she raised two children and supported Luke’s medical career as wife, nurse and bookkeeper. They first settled in Chelsea, Vt., which was followed by moves to Micronesia in 1964; Newfane, Vt. in 1967; Norfolk, Va. in 1974; Niantic, Conn. in 1979; and Severna Park, Md. in 1983, until Luke retired in 1992. They moved to Safety Harbor and spent summers at their log cabin in Tunbridge. She was a member of the Tunbridge Methodist Church and the First Presbyterian Church of Dunedin, Fla., where she enjoyed singing in both choirs for several years. She had a great love of music.
She is survived by her husband, Luke; a daughter, Jane and husband Charles MacFarland of Pawtucket, R..I; a son, Joel K. Howe and wife Karen Downing Howe of Tunbridge, Vt.; three granddaughters, Meghan Mac–Farland Smith and husband Derek A. Smith of Leesburg, Va.; Amanda C. Howe, and Emily Grace Howe of Tunbridge, Vt.; one grandson, Brinton C. MacFarland of Pawtucket, R.I.; and one great-grandson, Maximus B. Smith of Leesburg, Va. She is also survived by three sisters, Priscilla S. Watt of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; Nancy Roth of Tallahassee, Fla.; and Jane S. Mavor of Salt Lake City, Utah; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
She was predeceased by her sister, Phyllis S. Johnson, and a granddaughter, Whitney Patricia Howe.
Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church, Dunedin, Fla. on Thursday Oct. 20 at 2 p.m. A memorial service will also take place in Tunbridge, Vt., with the date and time to be announced.

Gregg Services
Funeral services for David H. Gregg, 63, of Randolph, who died September 30, 2011, were held Friday evening, Oct. 7 at the Day Funeral Home, with Pastor David Sanville officiating.
Remembrances were shared by Dr. Lou Dinicola, Rob Cohen, and Carolyn Tonnelli. Private burial will be at a later date at Norwich University cemetery.
Cahill Services
Graveside committal services for Michael Arland Cahill, 62, of Randolph, who died October 9, 2011, were held Friday afternoon, Dec. 2 at the Vermont Veterans Memorial cemetery in Randolph Center, with Rev. Mary Lewis Webb officiating.
Rev. Webb shared remembrances, and those gathered sang “Michael Row the Boat Ashore.” Arrangements were by the Day Funeral Home in Randolph.
J. Fresolo-Renner
BROOKFIELD — Janell M. Fresolo-Renner, 45, of Brookfield, died Tuesday morning, January 29, 2008 at Gifford Medical Center in Randolph.
Her family says that she left this life with the same grace and dignity as she lived it. Her courage, resiliency, strength, strong will and determination to survive cancer against all odds was admired by all who loved her and cared for her.
She was born March 1, 1962 in Montpelier, the daughter of Michael J. and Clarice (McManus) Fresolo. She graduated from Montpelier High School in 1980, and lived in Randolph Center before moving to Brookfield in 1994. She had been a waitress at the Three Stallion Inn of Randolph, and an office administrator for the Eustis Cable Company of Brookfield. She was a stained glass artist and operated the Afterglow Stained Glass Studio from her home.
Survivors include her husband, Mark Renner, and her daughter, Emma Jane Renner, both of Brookfield; her mother, Clarice Fresolo of Montpelier; and sisters: Cecile Pacini of Williamstown, Susan Fresolo of Montpelier, Pamela Fresolo of Odessa, Fla., and Lisa Thurston, and her husband, Rick, of Montpelier.
She was predeceased by her father, and her brother, Sgt. Michael J. Fresolo, Jr. USAF.
Calling hours will be Sunday, Feb. 3 from 2-4 p.m. at the Day Funeral Home in Randolph. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Contributions in her memory may be made to Gifford Medical Center, Attn. Pam Fournier, P.O. Box 2000, Randolph, Vt. 05060.

Warren A. Beal
Bethel — Warren A. Beal, 82, died Thursday, March 4, 2004, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H.
He was born Sept. 11, 1921 in Bethel, the son of Marvel and Gertrude (Slack) Beal.
He attended Bethel schools and graduated from Whitcomb High School in 1940. He served in the Army Air Force during WWII and received several medals and citations. He married
Grace Orticari April 12, 1947 in Bethel. He worked as a truck driver for Bethel Mills, the State of Vermont Highway Department and for Beacon Feeds until his retirement. After retiring, the managed the Valley Bowl in Randolph for several years.
He enjoyed doing outdoor work, spending time with his great-grandchildren and coaching Bethel Little League teams. In earlier years he played baseball on the Bethel Town Team. He was a member of the Montague Golf Club in Randolph.
Survivors include his wife, Grace Beal, and daughter, Paula Beal, both of Bethel; two sisters; Audrey Crippen of Shrewsbury and Irene Berg of Groton, Conn.; three grandchildren; Michael Mills and wife, Julie; Chad Mills and Katie Mills; and two great-grandchildren.
He was pre-deceased by two sisters: Virginia Washburn and Janet Farrell.
Memorial services will be held at a later date at the Vermont Veterans Memorial cemetery in Randolph Center. A time of fellowship was held Sunday, March 7, at Paula Beal’s home in Bethel.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to; The White River Valley Ambulance, 3190 Pleasant St. Bethel, Vt. 05032.
