STEVEN W. PERRON
SOUTH HERO- Steven W. Perron. 57, of South Hero, died unexpectedly on May 21, 2002 in the Fletcher Allen Health Care Facility in Burlington. He was born April 23, 1945 in New Britain, Conn., the son of the late Stephen A. and Charlotte Day Perron.
Steve grew up in Plainville, Conn. with his sister, brothers, many cousins and friends. He formed a special relationship with everyone and was never to forget the infamous trio- Steve, Tommy and Bo-Bo.
Our Dad served in the U.S. Navy as Shore Patrol in the early 1960s. He moved to Vermont in 1973 and became a true Vermonter. Steve developed many skills throughout his life to include painting cars, woodworking, artistry, being a master chef and the fastest short order cook you'd know. He was owner and operator of "Steve's Autobody" and "Steve's Subshop."
He cooked for many people in his life including President Ford in 1976 and Merle Haggart in 1980. Chances are if you're reading this he has cooked for you as well.
With Steve's outgoing personality he had acquired many friends, he always looked at the bright side of every situation and no matter how high the odds were he always felt as though he could win
Dad had a great love for music, especially the oldies and the Motown sound. If you needed a dance partner from the Jitter Bug to the Bop- Steve was you man. Dad had the "gift of gab" he loved to talk to everyone. He loved the New England teams- the Celtics, Red Sox, Bruins and especially the Patriots, who thankfully won a Super Bowl while Dad could enjoy it.
He was a proud man. He loved his children and his family. It made perfect sense that Steve loved all kids because he himself was a big kid at heart. He also loved watching his son Steven play hockey- he never missed a chance to go to a game.
Dad's greatest gift was sharing the life of his one and only grandchild, Julia Marie, who is just 4 and one half months old. He looked forward to being a grandpa for many years. Julia will always be reminded of how much he loved and adored her.
Steve had many other interests and hobbies which included fishing, gambling, video games, his movies, his coffee, talking rides, the CB (his handle was "Bad Medicine") He recently enjoyed surfing the Net, he loved his food, Vintage Cars, Sports Cars and NASCAR's (Sterling Martin.)
He will be greatly missed by many but especially by Heather, Steven, Jason and Julia- We love you Dad.
Steve is survived by his children, Heather Perron and her friend Scott Dragon of South Hero, Steven J. Perron and his friend Rhea Mead of Fairfax and Jason Perron of South Hero. His granddaughter, Julia Dragon and his brothers, Paul Smith and his wife Chelam of Enfield, Conn., Arthur Perron and his wife Adrian of Tariffville, Conn., Thomas Perron and his wife Brenda of Plainville, Conn., and his sister Mariette Johnson and her husband Ralph of Enfield, Conn.
He also leaves behind his extended family, his mother-in-law Esther; Sandi, Barb, Joe, Time and Kevin as well as the mother of his children, Julie Aikey.
